Starting a new thread and hope it will fill up in the next few weeks

I am a bit nervous starting this group as I am still SO early, only just testing positive this morning at 9DPO, ive taken 3 tests just to be sure. Hoping for a sticky bean, I am not a stranger to chemical pregnancies so really keeping everything crossed, its so nerve wracking!

I've gone off 'conception date' rather than LMP as I ovulate late, and for me, its more accurate - this brings me to due date 1st August 2026.

If others would like, I can start a Facebook group, maybe in a few weeks, I found the group sooo useful with my first little one! Let me know πŸ₯°

How is everyone? Any symptoms yet?

Morning ladies, for those doing digitals.. what day past ovulation did you get 2-3 weeks? Was hoping mine would be today but still 1-2 weeks showing x

JennyTig · 07/12/2025 09:53

@Peonies94 @mummatara thank you!

I'm mostly using my ovulation date over lmp as I ovulated a bit early, but don't know when implantation etc happens so keeping lmp date in mind!

Today I am 6+5 (6+3 if using lmp)

So on scan day I would have been 6+3 (6+1)

Good luck with your scan too! I also have all day nausea so I feel you on that.

I’m 6+3 today I’ve been limbo wether to use lmp or ovulation as I also ovulated early

It's tricky isn't it! I'm using a range rather than a fixed date.

I go by my ov date on apps (and gave my dates to align with this when booking in) but used my lmp to make sure I'd be classed as over 6 weeks for the epu when self referring.

The lmp method is probably fairly old, before women were using opks and temping at home, and assumes we all have a regular 28 day cycle. So a useful guide but not perfect.

The dating scan will ultimately decide so I think at this stage it's ok to use either or both.

Hello! I’m joining after lurking for several days…
I should be a bit over 5 weeks now, putting my DD at the beginning of August. This will (hopefully) be my third child after two daughters (4 and 2).
We actually have been living in Tokyo for almost 6 years now! Part of the reason I’ve joined here is that we are expecting to move back to England ~November 2026 and it would be great to have some mom-connections in the same country πŸ˜† Or closer - Cambridge area anyone?
I have my first scan on Thursday so crossing my fingers that goes well.
Fun fact - I did my pregnancy test in the bathroom of a department store, then freaked my husband out by telling him that I was going to call in 10 minutes and he needed to be somewhere private.

BabyW26 · 07/12/2025 18:08

Been for my early scan today believing I was 6+4 but we couldn’t see much ☹️ the midwife said she believes me to be a week maybe even a week and a half behind! So no heartbeat today, however definitely could see the sack on the scan so there is a baby in there!! Next scan scheduled in 2 weeks.. fingers crossed. Another 2 weeks of anxiety

Peonies94 · 07/12/2025 18:30

@BabyW26 im so sorry to hear that, so nerve wrecking for you! When did you get your first positive? Could it be that you’re just further behind than you thought? Sending best wishes 🀞🀞

mummatara · 07/12/2025 19:31

@BabyW26sorry to read your message Ive been in your spot before. Got everything crossed for you 🀞🏼 did you have an external or internal scan? And did you track ovulation? Big hugs

BabyW26 · 07/12/2025 19:56

@mummatara@Peonies94could definitely be that I’m further behind than I thought as I monitor my periods but don’t always log them down correctly as we weren’t particularly β€˜trying’. So I could have had my period 4/7 days later than on the app. It was an external ultrasound and found out I was pregnant 23rd November xx

mummatara · 07/12/2025 20:29

@BabyW26I would say you have a good chance of you being a lot earlier than you thought. External ultrasound at 6 weeks can be difficult to see much anyway and if your uterus tilts backwards it can be even harder to see anything.

BabyW26 · 07/12/2025 21:27

@mummatarafingers crossed 🀞🏼

Wondering for those who may have had early scans in the past, I have two options to have one at 6weeks exactly. I know to the date because I had ivf, or wait 3 days and have one at 6+3, but that’s Christmas Eve!
I wondered if it was likely I’d see a flicker of heart at 6 weeks or waiting the extra 3 days may help? But then being Christmas Eve doesn’t give much time to potentially need to process bad news! Torn because if I’d have a bit of a better chance of seeing the flicker if I wait a few days, I feel like I’d just rather wait!

Peonies94 · 08/12/2025 09:02

@BabyW26 thst makes sense! Hopefully it’s a case of you being earlier than you thought! Sending best wishes!

mummatara · 08/12/2025 10:03

@Peonies94if it was me I would go the few days later at 6+3 but do understand the need not to have bad news Xmas eve. (Hopefully there will be no bad news) 🀞🏼At 6 weeks exactly and as you know your dates you should see a HB but as with anything there is always room for a margin which is why I would wait the few days. I’m having one at 6+2 and I wish it was a bit closer to 6+4 or 5 but they couldn’t fit me in later in the week

BunnyWilliams · 08/12/2025 11:36

@Peonies94Are those the only two available dates? Could you have one on the 23rd?

BunnyWilliams · 08/12/2025 11:38

I've just spoken to the EPU and waiting for a call back. After feeling so anxious all weekend, and symptoms coming and going, I just need to know if everything is ok in there. I explained our history of past miscarriage and said I've got high levels of anxiety, and bad cramps which aren't helping said anxiety! I'm waiting for a nurse to call me back but they said it could be at any point in the day before 6pm, so potentially a long wait.

I would personally go for the later option! So much changes in a few days at that gestation.

I had my early scan on Saturday (6+5 but measured 6+3). I still can’t believe we saw a heart beat after two years of such difficult times and bad news!

I hope you are all feeling ok as you can πŸ’š

Jojo1203 · 08/12/2025 12:34

@Peonies94hi, I would definitely recommend the later appointment..
I had a scan at epu last week, unsure of my exact dates, and they could only see a sac at the moment (nothing inside).
i could’ve been anywhere from 5.5-6.5 weeks (was hoping it was the 6.5) - but now I’m guessing earlier and have an anticipating 2 week wait until we can confirm anything is growing in there🀞🏼
I know we’re all eager to find out as early as possible, but honestly waiting till 6+3 should be a lot more reliable😊 hope it goes well! x

Faithincats · 08/12/2025 12:41

Hi everyone. New joiner here πŸ‘‹ I got a positive test a few days ago and I'm currently 13/14 dpo. I have an 18mo daughter but this is my fifth pregnancy, as I had three miscarriages before her. I'm feeling very tentative/detached, and there's a long way to go before I'll be thinking of this as a baby.

For those of you in a similar position, do you know if - given my history - I'd be "entitled", for want of a better word, to an early scan at the EPU? My GP has already prescribed progesterone but didn't say anything about a scan. Or is this something I should ask the midwife about? I don't want to have a private scan due to previous experiences.

Thank you and sending you all love x

CPHB2021 · 08/12/2025 14:49

@Faithincats have you seen the midwife yet? If so, say you have no idea how many weeks you are, could be close to 12? You need a scan asap to date you, so you can opt in to have the screening which must be done before 14 weeks…. Worked for me and 2 friends, plus my sister! πŸ™ˆ

BunnyWilliams · 08/12/2025 15:06

@FaithincatsI wouldn't advise being dishonest with the midwife as PP recommended. Just be honest and tell the EPU your history. I had 3 or 4 reassurance scans with my son's pregnancy after 4 recurrent miscarriages. I then also had 3 early scans with my daughter but that was more due to a bleed. I've rung up the EPU today actually to see if I could be seen earlier this time due to my history. They were very understanding, although I haven't heard back yet about whether I'll get a reassurance scan (but it has been 7 years since our recurrent losses).

BunnyWilliams · 08/12/2025 16:11

Just to update and FYI @FaithincatsEPU just rang back and said I am eligible for an early scan due to my history, even though it wasn't recent. I've got one on Friday morning. Wish it was sooner but at least I have one and I'll be 7+2 so really should be able to see a heartbeat all being well. 🀞🀞

Hi! I had the scan at 6+1 with my DS and we could see a heartbeat. In my personal opinion it’s better to wait those 3 days, I understand that bad news would ruin the Christmas, but due to the nature of the matter it will be ruined regardless (In my humble opinion anyway), but if the news are good the Christmas evening will amplify the joy.

Peonies94 · 08/12/2025 19:05

Thank you @Xur @Jojo1203 @sleepykt pretty much all said the same!
think I’ll go with the later option as you all said and hope it’s good news! Just don’t want to ruin Christmas especially for my 4 year old, but you’re right it wouldn’t make it much better being 3 days earlier but just a little more time to grieve I guess!
