Hey, anyone else due July 2026? I got my first faint positive at 10dpo on Thursday 23rd October, I’m now 14dpo/4 weeks pregnant. Feeling nervous as still very early my period was due tomorrow. I’ve booked an early scan for in a few weeks so hopefully everything is all good, now just an anxious wait

Does anyone have experience on best time (in weeks) to book a private / early reassurance scan? It says online you can book from 6 weeks but seems very early!

Everything I've seen says 7/8 weeks is the best time as you should be able to pick up a heartbeat then. Anything earlier and you might not be able to see.

I've got an early scan booked for 8w3d thinking I'll be far enough along.

nekophoenix · 14/11/2025 11:24

Mine is booked for 7w+3 and I was told to expect to see a heartbeat then, so fingers crossed.

How are those with rough symptoms holding up? I already miss the days when I had ā€œjustā€ sore boobs (which are quite agonising for me - only able to lie on my back and cannot move too suddenly / quickly!). My nausea (while better since wearing the wrist bands) and fatigue has knocked me for six. I struggle to get through the day without a nap and am living on bread-based food. It’s really tricky and I salute everyone who has gone through this and cannot believe hundreds of thousands of women walk around each day feeling like this. Women are warriors.

Definitely going to seek out meds at the next opportunity. I know some people feel nauseous throughout the majority of their pregnancy but I am trying to read positive stories and experiences of those for whom it faded to keep my morale up unless / until I know what camp I likely fall into…

Salamander91 · 14/11/2025 11:31

Had a scan at EPU today because I've been bleeding. I wasn't expecting it to go well but baby and heartbeat seen ā¤ļø measuring a good 6 days smaller then it should be which is making me nervous but hopefully it'll catch up šŸ¤ž they're not sure why I'm bleeding but I've been put on progesterone because I've had a miscarriage previously.

Has anyone ever tried ringing for an early scan due to having one MMC?
I did this with my last pregnancy, but I had spotting. I’ve not had any yet but I wouldn’t expect to as I usually do get it around 5-6 weeks. I wonder if they would scan me despite having one MMC then one successful pregnancy. I’d really rather receive bad news in a hospital, and for obvious reasons wouldn’t want to stay pregnant all the way until 12 weeks before finding out whether it’s still alive or not

Iwishyoutoknow · 14/11/2025 14:04

Does anyone have any experience of using Ultrasound Direct for a private scan? I’m basically looking for the most clinical setting, which sounds a bit ridiculous, but I’ve had two terrible experiences with Window to Womb when I had previous losses. I found the place too twee and then when it was clear that there was something wrong they just didn’t know what to do. My second loss was a missed miscarriage at 11 weeks and they took us back into the main waiting room with all the happy couples waiting for their gender reveal photos to print…
They then put the our printout of the scan into a paper frame thing that said ā€˜welcome little one’ 😫

My EPU’s policy is no early scan unless you’ve had 3 losses but I wish I could just pay for one! I just want to be told directly if all is not well, but also have informed support with next steps.

Iwishyoutoknow · 14/11/2025 14:06

@Veryxonfusedwe’ve just posted very similar messages! I know exactly what you mean with wanting to be in a hospital. It does seem like every EPU has a different policy.

DaLouO · 14/11/2025 14:12

@Iwishyoutoknowi am using ultrasound direct for my early scan. I have used them before in a previous pregnancy. The one in our area only has two scan rooms and tends to be very quiet. And my experience with them has been very good. Have you thought about maybe booking one on an evening or weekday in hopes that it is quieter?

I have had a missed miscarriage and my experience in the early pregnancy unit wasn’t much better they stuck us in a side room afterwards and as we were waiting we could hear a doctor outside talking to some junior doctors outside talking about how I may need a D&C and how ā€œinterestingā€ it is.

It’s difficult to get over once you realise how people can be insensitive and really not understand how their language and actions can be interpreted. Xxx

Wow that ridiculous that they printed the scan with that wording but my reasons are similar. Like you said, they just didn’t have a clue what to do. I went at 8.5 weeks and I was measuring at 5 weeks I believe, they never actually showed me the screen (I did get to see the screen at the nhs scan) & they just kept saying your dates might be wrong, it happens to plenty of women. But I knew as I’d tested positive 5 weeks prior, so it was impossible for me to only be 5 weeks pregnant. Then after bawling my eyes out I had to go back into the waiting room surrounded by other people who may have just been there for fun (gender scans, 3d scans etc) surrounded by teddies, balloons. It’s just not what you want to see when you just wanted to know if your baby was alive and it wasn’t!

Veryxonfused · 14/11/2025 14:23

Also, this wasn’t window to the womb. I have no issue with the actual scan company as pregnancy is obviously a lovely thing to celebrate when all goes right. It just felt like a very weird unsettling contrast.

88claire · 14/11/2025 14:29

I really would avoid any early scans before 7 weeks if no clinical reason. I'm currently in scan limbo hell where mine didn't show a fetal pole or heartbeat. Now I've got to wait two weeks for the follow up - I wish I could just enjoy the next couple of weeks without the worry!

How's everyone getting on today?

Iwishyoutoknow · 14/11/2025 14:36

@Veryxonfusedwe ended up just finding the situation horrifically funny, it was so ridiculous. I also had the same comment that I must have got my dates wrong for my first loss. I absolutely knew I hadn’t but they just kept saying that they were sure everything was fine when I was measuring two weeks behind. I think it’s because early pregnancy is such an anxious time as obviously the chance of bad news is so much higher that you would think that if they are offering these services there should be a sensitive way to deal with things not being right. At least in the EPU everyone was there for the same reason.

Iwishyoutoknow · 14/11/2025 14:40

@88claireoh completely agree as it just causes more worry. So sorry you’re going through that at the moment. It’s torture.

I’m looking at getting a scan at 11 weeks so we can let people know with some confidence at Christmas as I’m 12 weeks on Christmas Day.

That's a good time. It looks like a baby then too!

I'm debating a scan at St George's who do a walk in EPU next week to at least cut off half of the waiting time. I had my last D&C there and the nurses in the day unit were horrible I just don't want any more care there!

I just want it sorted either way before the first week of December for mine and my son's birthdays and obviously by Christmas.

I'm just wondering what my odds of two blighted ovums after an 11 week missed miscarriage are. Must be astronomically low!

KKD90 · 14/11/2025 15:34

Hi all,
Typing this up with a little bit of fear of the unknown. The last two days have been strange and painful, stomach aches radiating to my back, uncomfortable feeling near the gut, going to the toilet a lot more.
I am currently on CD 25, and due to start my period in three days. I did a HCG and an ovulation test this morning.. can anyone shed some light? I am scared of what this could mean, I see a super faint line on the HCG.
I am worried my symptoms could be a miscarriage, there are no signs of bleeding. Naturally fearing for the worse as I am 35 and have had so much fearmongering, my AMH is also 0.59, not the best.
HELP and hugs x

KKD90 · 14/11/2025 15:42

Congratulations to you all ā¤ļø

For me personally, things have been strange and painful, stomach aches radiating to my back, uncomfortable feeling near the gut, going to the loo for a pee or the other, super gassy. I haven’t been sleeping well either due to the pain.

Your test looks very much like mine when I first found out, although it does look a little grey, if it showed up within the time limit for the test there is every chance that is positive and I would buy a digital just to confirm and rule out any evap lines.

those are all pregnancy symptoms so I wouldn’t be at all shocked if that is what you are experiencing due to a pregnancy.

best of luck and keep us updated xxx

Is anyone else torn which room to pop their newborn in?

we are very fortunate to have 2 unused bedrooms.

Option 1 is 9'5" x 15'5" (currently used as a dressing room)

Option 2 is 7'4" x 10'8" (currently my doom room!)

I don't know if the bedroom 1 may feel a bit big for a nursery or if option 2 is too small?

I can't help already with the forward planning!

SoftLaunch · 15/11/2025 07:53

@Threecheersfor26 we used our smallest room as the nursery- baby wasn't in there overnight until they were over six months old anyway so it makes sense to keep the larger spare as home office/guest room for as long as we can! I think we'll eventually swap both kids into the bigger room to share it but I'm tempted to see if we can attempt them sharing the smallest room while they're toddlers- will depend on whether they wake each other up I suppose!

Are you thinking of decorating? There are some lovely sweet nursery ideas online. We didn't- again trying to hold off to just do it once when they're old enough to care more about that stuff.

I did run out to the shops, both HCG test and CB tests were negative this morning, yet to wait to AF to arrive ā¤ļø

Hope everyone is doing ok šŸ’• I'm about 5ish weeks now and just wondering what symptoms others had at this stage? I'm mostly constipation and v sore boobs, can't tell if the mild nasuea is anxiety. When did sickness kick in for everyone? Starting to over analyse lack of sickness as an issue but know its still early. I'm getting an early scan Monday due to miscarriage history so just holding out on that and stopped testing start of the week to be sensible! šŸ™Œ

Sickness almost bang on 6 weeks. I was feeling okay until then and since have had grim nausea - I have only vomited once but annoyingly that day was the one which gave me the most relief. After experiencing a week of suffering I’m getting meds this week as it’s rough. Fingers crossed for your scan! I have mine booked for Thursday šŸ¤ž

Curiousrobin · 15/11/2025 12:39

I'm 5 weeks 2 or 3 days (why do different apps and websites calculate it differently?!). I have been having constipation, I did gag when brushing my teeth but only once (the only symptom I ever had with my sonšŸ˜…), some twinges on my left side, but very rarely - I'm thinking it would be corpus luteum painšŸ¤” I had a scan during ovulation and they showed me how I was ovulating from my left (quite cool to know, especially as I got pregnant and it would have been happening right then!)

I wish I had a scan sooner but mine isn't until 1st December. I don't think it's going to reassure me much though as my losses (apart from my chemical) were later than this time. I'm hoping EPU do more than one reassurance scan.

Greengardener1 · 15/11/2025 16:51

@Curiousrobin that is pretty cool about your scan! The only reason I am getting earlier scan is because I've had some gastro symptoms start of this week and they just want to be sure it's implanted in correct position and rule out ectopic, plus I always get a one sided pain in all previous pregnancies so I think they just want to be sure. I'm not expecting to see much but I'm happy they're offering to see me. I had a hcg draw this week and it showed moving in right direction so can only but wait and see šŸ¤ž

@nekophoenix that's good to know, be interesting to see if mine gets worse! Hope your scan goes OK Thursday, keep us updated 🄰

Juicytoot287 · 15/11/2025 17:57

Hi all!

The sickness kicked my but. I threw up all over our garden when I tried to take some rubbish outside. Safe to say I won’t be handling any waste again! I ended up calling doctors on Thursday and explained it’s mostly nausea but it’s 24/7 and I can’t rest as I have a toddler at home who is full on. Then that coupled with how the sickness is at any point so it’s hard to predict for vitamin purposes. Ended up prescribed anti-sickness which I’m only taking when necessary! Have had two so far (one last night and then one this morning) today’s lasted until about 5pm when it crept back but they are making me sleepier!!

however it’s taken the edge off, I still don’t feel 100% but I can stomach food and eat proper meals which is a win! Actually managed dinner for two nights in a row which feels a miracle in itself!

hope everyone else’s symptoms are ok!

to the ladies worrying without sickness - it may be a blessing! I had NONE with my first, bliss.
