Ava is a beautiful name. I’m glad you got to spend some time with her and I’m so so sorry for your loss x

RealTealQueen · 05/09/2025 07:55

@Yellowdaff25 Were you saying hello? I didn’t see what you deleted before it went.

WildFinch · 05/09/2025 19:30

I'm happy to take Moosey's lead on whether we start a new thread or keep this one.

I hope folks who had scans today are doing ok. We found out we're having a little girl. She's doing fine but I have some complications they want to check more thoroughly. Off to Greece for a week first though so trying not to overthink.

Glad to hear she is doing well. Hopefully your complications aren’t too serious and easily fixed.

I had my scan yesterday at 21w, baby doing well and measuring as they should. They said it is weighing about 15oz

Please do keep chatting here guys - I'm going to mute but drop in and out as and when.

I was finally released from hospital today so we said our goodbyes to Ava. The staff have all been incredible and we had a private room with a cold cot so we could spend as long as we wanted there. It's been so incredibly difficult but it has cemented our desire to have a baby, and as a couple we're actually being so strong in supporting each other and being open and communicative.

I wouldn't call it a silver lining, as I don't think there is one, but I wanted to let you all know whilst we are utterly devastated and grieving, we know this isn't the end of our journey and we will always have Ava watching over us wherever that journey takes us xx

I also had my 20 week scan today. Was lovely and my husband cried bless him he was so emotional to see our baby boy.

Has everyone requested a B1 Maternity form yet? Do I just ask the midwife at the next appt? I need to start thinking about the boring admin side of things…

Also are there side effects with the whooping cough vaccine? I had awful ones with Covid jabs so I’m scared to get the flu one!!

I just phoned up my midwife team for my form and they said pop down. It’s only a little thing - date you’re due and signed by the midwife.

My whooping cough vaccine was done the day I was already getting a cold so I can’t say for certain but I think it was what made me feel worse. I had a hideous headache and fever all day the day after. I could barely think straight. That cleared up the day after that which is why I think it was the jab, not the cold. My arm was sore for about 3 days but not bad.

Confusedmermaid1 · 05/09/2025 21:41

@peps2917 I had a sore arm for a good few days and maybe felt a bit more tired than usual but nothing too bad

Jadeypie · 06/09/2025 01:45

My arm killed off the whooping vaccine xxx

I just requested my matb1 from my GP Popped in and filled a form out which the GP signed and returned.

I had my whooping cough vaccine a week ago and was expecting to feel rubbish, but no side effects at all. I was the same with Covid awful side effects too, but none with the whooping cough. Not even a sore arm x

Like others have said, I just sent my midwife a text (don’t see her til 28 weeks and work prefers notification by 25 because payroll in the nhs is slow at the best of times) and she left the matb1 at the surgeries reception. Officially notified work yesterday of my intention to take maternity leave 🙌🏻

Sunshinemoom · 06/09/2025 08:09

I had my rescan Thursday managed to get the rest of the measurements baby looking all good. They found some complications with me so been referred over to pre term birth team next week. Means I’ll have some extra appointments but looks all good 🤞🏾

@Jadeypie can I ask what meds and cervix problem you had? I had a length scan at 15 weeks but all was fine and they didn't know why I'd been referred..long story. But it had been flagged to do one at my 20 week scan so she said yesterday she would have to check and it turns out it's now a bit short at 22mm. They weren't too concerned but I wonder if it's linked to me stopping progesterone at 16 weeks. I've got an appointment with the consultant Monday when I'm back from holiday.

I have a septate womb which is prone to causing prem birth. I had a scan at 16 weeks which showed my cervix to be 20 which is short anything under 25 they either prescribe progesterone or offer a stitch. So im on progesterone till im 36 weeks then I stop it. The pesserys are working because my cervix has gone to 37 and has been stable so I dont need the stitch.

I also have pcos and dodgy hormones so the progesterone is a God send to me. I think thats what caused my last loss.

When you see your consultant ask to be put back on, will give you peace of mind unless your cervix has gone back to normal and you dont need it. Its very worrying isn't it? I just find being on the progesterone helps me feel more secure xxx

Its nice to know im not the only one going through the cervix situation it have you on edge doesnt it?

But i agree im suprised they havnt already put you back on it @WildFinch xxx

WildFinch · 06/09/2025 10:08

@Jadeypie thanks so much for your response that's reassuring to hear yours has lengthened again. I have some progesterone left over so I've taken that on holiday with me and I think I'll start taking it again then. My appointment is a week on Monday so but reluctant to wait. They said it's reassuring cervix is firmly closed but obviously it's quite short.

Thanks @Sunshinemoom I'm going to take the progesterone I have left from earlier in my pregnancy for the next week before my appointment. Do you take two a day?

Yeah so on edge and the fact they found it by accident. They couldn’t see my placenta on my scan so they asked if they could do an internal and I said yes and that’s when they found it. Turns out, I should’ve always been referred to the pre-Term birth team because of the birth I had with my son because I had emergency C-section but was fully dilated because he got stuck in the birth canal. I was high risk of this happening. So frustrating they didn’t refer me but happy they found it now. Xx

Good idea! And I’m on 1x a day 400mg with them doing the operation next week. Believe I’ll have to carry on taking it after as well x

Oh God so glad that happened by chance then! I only found out about my womb the week before conceiving. I had been under the infertility specialist and had a few tests done. I should have been monitored with my ds for the same issue just glad he made full term which is also reasuring that my body can do that!

@WildFinch I take mine once of a evening just before I go asleep. But I agree I would start taking it again xx

Yeah literally by chance which I’m grateful yesterday the sonography wasn’t happy with what she saw to ask me to do the internal. Oh so not known about it for long. Thank god made it to full term with your ds. At least been monitored this time round.
