Had my dating scan today which moved my EDD based on period up almost a week so due date is now 4th Jan (but with a planned section so likely to be a Christmas baby).

I forgot how relieving it is to see them on the screen especially when you’ve been pretty symptom free aside from a positive test and aching boobs.

Aw great news - glad to hear it went well!

Hi everyone ☺️ I was on the last Jan 2026 thread but have been MIA for a couple of weeks! 11 weeks tomorrow 🤞❤️

Could I ask about dating scan & combined screening bloods please ...might need to do a separate thread because v confused! Ive been booked in for the blood test on Tuesday when I'll be 11+3, but no sign of a scan appt so I rang today to check (as sometimes the letters come through late) and they said my dating scan is 21st July, when I'll be 13+2.

Everywhere I've read it seems that the bloods & scan are usually the same day...does anyone happen to know if there is any issue with them being 2 weeks apart please? Xx

Hi, mine were on the same day. So scan first and then sent straight through to antenatal hospital clinic to have bloods done afterwards. The lady who did our scan said they use the measurement they take of the neck (during your 12 week scan) along with the blood test to get the result, so I agree it does seem strange why there would be such a gap in-between them. I would maybe call them and ask why. It could be something simple like a staffing issue or lack of appointments maybe?

The date range for combined screening is between 10-14 weeks, it doesn't have to be the same day as your scan. Really just depends how your local services operate. For me the midwife takes the bloods at home for the combined screening around 11 weeks and then we are told results at the scan usually. 😊

@Sunshinemoom im also having an elective c section due to my fibroids (I’m choosing but my doctor also recommended). How many days before your due date is a c section? I didn’t realise this was the case but most people say around 5 days - is that about right? If anyone else knows let me know pls!

@Moosey898 thanks for starting the thread again!!

11 weeks this weekend and I can start to see my body changing!!

Jadeypie · 06/07/2025 06:34

@peps2917 im sure its a week before, but don't quote me. One of the other ladies will no better. I have a heart shaped womb which was only discovered the week before I conceived. Dr was saying about a c section but because I've done vaginally once she said I could do it again. So suppose time will tell on that one.

Yay to 11 weeks 🥰 i feel like its flying do you? Also definitely seeing body changes! and a bump. I loved my bump first time, couldnt wait to get it, but this time, I feel self concious because how soon im showing which is ridiculous haha. Xx

I believe it depends on the trust. My trust it’s 39 + 3 days but my son came 39 + 4 so they are doing mine closer to 39 weeks. I think as a whole you be looking around 39 weeks give or take a couple of days

Like others said, it depends on the trust I think. My first was an emergency so wouldn’t count but with my second they offered me date from 38 weeks (went into spontaneous labour resulting in an unplanned planned section at 37+4 anyway).

WanderWalker · 06/07/2025 10:16

@peps2917 like others have said I think it depends on your area 😊 where I am is during week 39

peps2917 · 06/07/2025 14:05

Thanks all! Had such an annoying 24 hours as my psycho but beloved cat bit me yesterday and I drew blood morning and the skin around the bite became swollen and red and the leg became increasingly painful!! Went to the walk in today and got antibiotics… hopefully all will be fine but I need to just not play with my cat anymore. Can’t risk it!

Jadeypie · 06/07/2025 16:35

I bought a set of babygrows today for the baby 🥰 i felt nervous doing it. But im being positive, I had all kinds with my 1st around this time. Anyway next have a great sale on atm xx

Hi all, I've been a bit crap posting on here sorry! I'm around 12 weeks now and my nausea is still just as bad as error. The constant dry retching is really getting me down. And the lack of energy.. it definitely didn't last this long with my other 2. I have my scan on Wednesday which I'm excited about and nervous about at the same time.

For those who have had their scan and bloods already (to test for downs etc), how long did the results take for the bloods to come back? X

Sorry your sickness is still bad - mine has altered and now I have a bit less nausea but more actual vomiting 🤦 still not ideal haha
Combined screening bloods take a week to come back in my area - I had them taken by my midwife and got the results at my 12 week scan.

Hi,

I'm due the same date as you at the moment!
Also ridiculously bloated. This is my first and I really didn't expect this. A stranger last week asked about my pregnancy so it's fairly obvious (although I'm still hoping it's the travel bands that gave it away as I don't think the bump is quite that big).

I've had to buy maternity clothes and been wearing dresses for weeks as my normal clothes were uncomfortable.
We're seeing close family this weekend and planning to tell them straight away as I expect they'll notice otherwise.

Most people should in theory be polite and not say anything even if they notice until it's very obvious and I like to think most people are more oblivious so hopefully everything is ok with your work. Are you planning on telling them soon?

Aww congratulations!! Due date twins haha

sorry I dip in and out of mumsnet so exhausted I want to take my mat leave asap….

yeah work are lovely I have 2 close female friends with very sharp eyes hahaha
although I don’t want to tell them until at least the 12 weeks scan.

same here can only feel comfy in a dress or loose linen.

how did it go with family did you tell them? Hope all goes well!

Mine came back within 6 days, but she did say it can take up to 10 (working days).
Sorry to hear about the sickness 😓 I hope it improves soon

Darcy1990 · 07/07/2025 10:13

Hi all, I’m due with an EDD 16th of Jan / second baby.
I had a maternal request elective with my first. My advice is it to bring up sooner than later as they might be able to support you with your concerns about birth as there are teams that can help you but it takes time to arrange.
I waited until I was 36 weeks until I, bursting in tears, asked if anyone was ever going to ask what my preferences were. I had been worrying about it all pregnancy and hoping they would ask but I learned that you have to ask for everything. You just don’t know when you’re a FTM…

10 working days, ah man I was hoping it would be a day or two! I've decided not to tell work colleagues and my nieces and nephews until the results come back. So a longer wait than I was expecting

LoveaCaramelLatte · 07/07/2025 18:10

Ah don't worry about it! It can be very tiring I was having multiple naps a day not long ago although I have been feeling better recently.

Ooh they might notice but hopefully they don't outright ask. Are you in person every day at work?

Yes we did it went well thank you! A little nervous telling them before the scan but they are all excited. I had to cover my stomach with bags and things walking in so they didn't immediately notice 😂. Had the worst bloating yet that evening, very unlikely I would have gotten away with hiding it!

RealTealQueen · 07/07/2025 19:30

I just threw up all over the hallway, so this is going well 🤣😩😭 When do we get to the good part?!

Has anyone here flown long haul in second trimester? I'm going to be flying 8hrs next week when I will be 15 weeks. Apart from compression socks and taking all my anti nausea/acid reflex medication, anyone got any tips? I seem to get really uncomfortable quickly currently so sitting still in a small seat for that long is worrying me 🤣

I have no tips but good luck. We flew about 2.5 hours when I was 5-6 weeks and I was miserable! Too hot, too noisy, I was too tired…
