Hi guys,

if like me you’ve just got your BFP, then it’s likely you’re due in January too!
congratulations.

@peps2917 I'm not sure what to expect either at the booking in appointment and I'm fairly clueless to my family medical history, so not sure how helpful it will be. We've not told anyone yet, waiting for the first scan, so can't even ask my mum and MIL for extra info. Can we provide extra info later? I take it theres no scans at the booking in appointment (I'm NHS Highland if that helps)? ;/

@SureLook I did see that and I'm soo sorry for those who have had loses, I can't image have hard that must have been and how much that must be weighing on peoples minds.

I’ve got my first private scan today! Feeling excited but also a little nervous as I worry that something will be wrong. I have to try and stay positive though!

Has anyone had their midwife booking appt yet? Did husbands/partners go along with you? I’ve got mine on the 17th and no idea what to expect. My husband wants to come along which is nice but I wasn’t sure what the ‘done thing’ is. Let me know!

Hope the nausea isn’t kicking everyone’s butt as much as it has been. My sea bands have made it more manageable but I still feel it every day which means my appetite has decreased significantly and I can’t drink coffee at all which makes me so sad!

My husband came to my booking in and it was really nice for him to be a little bit involved. It was obviously mostly about me but the midwife still included him. They still find a time to check you’re in a healthy relationship away from him too.
He probably won’t come to my other midwife appointments but he’ll come to the scans. A friend of mine has had her partner at every appointment and they’ve asked her to come to one alone, so I suppose they want an oppurtunity to double check there’s no relationship concerns.

Moosey898 · 08/06/2025 13:15

@peps2917 how did you scan go?

peps2917 · 08/06/2025 13:36

@Moosey898 im on my way now! Had to drink a load of water 1 hour before and now I am dying for a wee! I will let you know how it goes. Starting to get nervous!!

Jadeypie · 08/06/2025 14:21

@peps2917 all will be fine keeping my fingers crossed 🤞🏻 will be waiting for your good news xx

peps2917 · 08/06/2025 15:11

All good!!! 7 weeks measuring at around 9.6mm 🥰🥰🥰🥰 I have 7 fibroids which I knew about already - the sonographer said they may cause me some discomfort but no harm to the baby. He said this may mean I need more frequent scans etc but that’s all good! So so pleased - due on the 25th January apparently 🥰

@peps2917 so happy for you!!!🥰❤️

ChickenLady37 · 08/06/2025 16:12

I didn't bring my husband along to the booking appointment. They did ask quite a few questions about the relationship, DV, any drugs concerns etc so, although I didn't have anything bad to say, I'm pleased I did that on my own as I'm not sure how they would have got around those questions with him in the room.

I know it's early days but has anyone thought about where they would like to deliver their baby? Last time round I was set on a homebirth which sadly didn't happen as no MW was available, so i birthed in hospital in the pool instead (which was actually a lovely experience). Apparently home births are back on in my area so I'm wondering if I want to pursue that again 🤔. The thought of a land birth scares me, and there's only 1 pool in the hospital so no guarantee it would be available x

SureLook · 08/06/2025 16:40

@peps2917 delighted for you!

@ChickenLady37 I'd say the birthing pool was lovely! I had to be induced on my first and had back labour and would not have survived without an epidural 😂😂 so I imagine I'll go for the hospital again.

Jadeypie · 08/06/2025 16:50

Mine will be at hospital too with a epidural even tho it only worked down one side last time no way would I try to go all the way without it haha xx

BunMum26 · 08/06/2025 19:27

We had an early reassurance scan today with window to the womb and I must say it was money well spent. So lovely to see the little blob, we could see arms and hands waving around and everything looked well, strong heartbeat and measuring bang on at 7w6d, EDD 19th Jan which is exactly when we thought :)

SureLook · 08/06/2025 20:11

@BunMum26 I'm delighted to hear that. It's so lovely to see them!

newbie1989 · 08/06/2025 21:24

im 8 & half weeks pregnant & have had really bad stomach & leg cramps similar to those I get when my period is arriving anyone else experience this? I had an early scan at 6 weeks & could see heart beat

SureLook · 08/06/2025 21:30

@newbie1989 I would say it's just round ligament pain and everything is stretching. Try not to worry x

claire7007 · 08/06/2025 22:34

I'm very confused as to what week I am! The date of my last period is April 24th and that's week 1. By that logic, I'm on week 7 and I'll be end of week 40 on January 28th (due day). But going by the NHS calculator, I'm on week 6, meaning I'll be at the end of 39 weeks on January 28th, which is full term. So, which is it?! I realise it doesn't matter too much at the moment, but it's confusing me. Or maybe I'm overthinking it!!!

SureLook · 08/06/2025 22:43

@claire7007 I just pulled up a due date calculator and it said you are 6+3 and due on the 29th of January. According to the 24th of April being the 1st day of your last cycle. You don't count the 24th of April as week one. A week on from that is week one if that makes sense?
Don't worry too much about it anyway. Your due date is just a suggestion, they'll come whenever they feel like it 😂
And also, you're full term at 37 weeks 😊

When I first found out I was pregnant I was sooo confused with the dates. Different calculators online were giving me different dates. I think I have it worked out but still find the whole thing a little tricky :)

Jadeypie · 09/06/2025 15:04

Ive had some like mild niggly pains today in my lower back. Making me feel paranoid even tho I know they are probably just stretching pains or somthing but I can feel myself getting in My own head. Anyone else had similar around 10 weeks? Xx

I’ve had backache on and off this pregnancy and the last couple days I’ve been having pains around my belly button which come and go. I’ve put it down to stretching and I’m 10 weeks tomorrow!

lifebeginz · 09/06/2025 15:15

I also have lower back pain. ( weeks 4 days and the nausea is almost gone which I am grateful for but it is also niggling me that that is a bad sign. Still need toothpicks to keep my eyes open through the day though...

Jadeypie · 09/06/2025 15:20

Oh thanks guys this has calmed my nerves! Ive read that a little growth spurt happens between 10-12 so im just gona put it down to that.

My sickness has calmed down loads too im also putting that down to the placenter starting to take over. I agree with the tiredness tho!! That's still very there hahs and the boobs xx

Jadeypie · 09/06/2025 15:22

I just feel like I've been chilled for the last few weeks and then today's the first day I've felt the nerves again. I have a scan Friday so hopefully that can put some nerves at bay for a while xx
