Creating this as a space to continue the Feb 2025 chat - quite frankly it's all starting to feel very, very real right now!

@Piluka Congratulations!!! 🥳 I read @superj21's message and rushed over to FB. Your daughter is lovely. 🧡 How are you feeling? Any ideas about when you'll be able to escape the hospital?

Does that make it four babies already? (Five? One was a very casual announcement.)

UrbanSquirrel · 26/01/2025 08:28

@Piluka I too just ran over to Facebook as I hadn't seen your post. OH MY GOSH!!! That happened with no warning at all! 😅 I wrote a long comment over there so I won't repeat myself but basically I am so, so happy for you and your little one is gorgeous! I'm so sorry to hear about the pain though - you are a real soldier! Big, big hugs, and just think - after all the worry and the drama and the uncertainty of the last nine months, she's here! And she's perfect 🤩 xxx

@QuantumPanic Good question. I'm losing track! In no particular order we've had @Piluka @OrangeSlices998 @OnePinkSloth and @SBelfast - I've just woken up so my brain isn't quite working, and I've also had NCT and pregnancy yoga friends' announcements rolling in the last couple of days... who have I missed?

OP posts:
QuantumPanic · 26/01/2025 09:42

@UrbanSquirrel Unless I'm misremembering, someone else very casually mentioned in a comment that their baby had also arrived! Nipping out for a few hours, but I'll trawl the threads and see if I can find it when I get back.

Well remembered on the others. 🧡 I think a roll call is a nice idea (but if anyone feels it's too intrusive, feel free to shout me down)!

Redapple21 · 26/01/2025 10:07

@Piluka Ive also commented on Facebook but yes congratulations 🥰🩷 wishing you a speedy recovery xxx

Which fb group is this 🥺

Redapple21 · 26/01/2025 11:19

@apple67cherry

www.facebook.com/share/g/1DVwk6M9WE/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Hope that works. The link has been posted a few times on various threads - there is more traffic on Mumsnet but nice to see photos over there xx

UrbanSquirrel · 26/01/2025 12:21

Oh well done @Redapple21! @apple67cherry you just have to ask to join and one of us will let you in - as Redapple says it's lovely for photos as it's a private group so it's just us that can see them. And there are some other very helpful discussions about baby gear etc. Come join!

I've just asked to join too if that's okay! Xx

@Onthedouble123 Approved you 😃 x

@Piluka i also rushed over to Facebook to
see your little one and she is perfect!!! Well done mama and congratulations on your baby girl ♥️

bumpkin34 · 26/01/2025 15:48

Yes I also said congratulations on Facebook @Piluka
Hope your all home soon.

So who's next?

Im Very jealous! I have 4 weeks till due date and no reason for c-section or early induction at the moment.

Although I have been plagued with a rash that is driving me mad! So hoping they may offer me an early sweep

UrbanSquirrel · 26/01/2025 17:12

@bumpkin34 Ugh, sorry to hear about your rash! That sounds really unpleasant. Can't they suggest any cream or antibiotics that might help you?

In terms of 'who's next', there's three of us with sections booked on Tuesday, I think - but at this stage I wouldn't be at all surprised if we have another announcement tomorrow! Everything seems to be kicking into gear for Team Feb 😉 x

ThisLimeDeer · 26/01/2025 17:52

Those of you with planned sections for Tuesday, good luck and I can’t wait for your announcements ♥️. This is so exciting!
Last week of work for me begins tomorrow so we’re all getting closer!

SBelfast · 26/01/2025 20:51

Hi ladies, great to see so many peoples dates quickly approaching best of luck for those that come next planned and unplanned :) ! And congratulations to those who have had their babies.
We are still in the hospital, baby Ruairí spent his first 36 hours in neonatal and has been making good progress since considering he's early. Its been really tough, think I'd always have found it tough as first time but I think with him being smaller just feels all the more fragile!
Been getting used to breast feeding. Had to start expressing to combi feed as he lost a bit too much weight in neonatal. Long nights are hard, and the baby blues, really want a big cry but would like the comfort of my own home for one haha. I know this is all normal but it's hard seeing people arrive in constantly with sections and getting home next day as babies normal!

Finding it hard to sleep he was throwing up undigested milk for a while randomly in his cot and I kept worried about him choking! Does it get any easier second time mums?

Piluka · 26/01/2025 21:02

@superj21 @UrbanSquirrel @QuantumPanic @Redapple21 @ThisLimeDeer @bumpkin34 thanks for all your comments. I'm note sure who's who in fb group apart of a couple of people. Sorry about that.

To be honest, everything happened such in a rush (even though it took me 24h to evict the señorita) I was under such pain that my morale was not to post anything anywhere. So for all of you who are waiting for a C section o thinking 'still x weeks to go' I thought exactly the same and look, everything can happen. So, don't lose your faith, your plans can be ruined by your future lovely baby. Embrace it!! ❤️❤️❤️

I'm still in Hospital by my request as Yuna is falling sleepy through her feeding and she's not getting as much as I wish. I was asked if I wanted to spend another night and to be honest I thought better safe than sorry. Tomorrow we'll be discharge and ready to meet Yuna's fur sister (doggy Zelda) and start our new adventure.

That would be cool to keep track of who's having the babies. By the way, @UrbanSquirrel i think the group should be called Jan/Feb babies 2025, as all of us where being said babies would be due by Feb and so far we have some already in Jan.

Looking forward for Tuesday C-section babies!!! Lots of birthdays shared at the same day, that's so cool. 😊❤️

elb1504 · 26/01/2025 21:38

@Piluka Congratulations 💕 Lovely to see baby news pictures over on Facebook too, another night in hospital can be sensible if you feel it helps!

@SBelfast You've been through a lot so it's definitely normal to want to go home and also have a big cry, day 5 is always said to be the worst for the hormone dip. I remember constantly crying for the first week at home. It does get easier you learn about each other and over time you relax somewhat but being small and in Nicu probably adds an extra element of worry. Look after yourself and sounds like you're doing a fabulous job!

40 weeks for me on Tuesday and section date, really feeling fed up now just generally tired/achy and over being pregnant. Also giant haemorrhoid has made a return, I'd kept at bay for so long but weight and pressure of baby is causing it to return, real pain in the bum- literally! So lovely to see all the birth announcements and looks like a few more are imminent!

ThisLimeDeer · 27/01/2025 07:06

@elb1504 as another sufferer or giant haemorrhoids I really feel for you and hope it goes away soon because these damn things are so annoying!!!!!
good luck with your section ♥️. I spoke to a lady from my NCT class who had one a couple of weeks ago and she literally said it was such a good experience!

retrievermum · 27/01/2025 11:09

@SBelfast just repeating what others are saying: the hormone drop is CRAZY and also totally normal (I cried for four full hours on day 5ish because I couldn’t reach a tin of beans in the cupboard and my husband didn’t immediately drop everything to help me!)

The hormones get easier, but the anxiety doesn’t, I won’t lie! It does get easier to cope with though! I had quite bad intrusive thoughts when DD was teeny and I was beginning to wonder if I should see a doctor about it (my therapist has assured me it was actually very normal and part of the trauma response!) but then one day I realised I hadn’t thought about accidentally throwing her out of a window, and it gradually got better. You’ll inevitably be a nervous wreck whenever your lovely baby boy does anything even remotely out of the ordinary, but be assured that usually, it is actually totally normal!

How’s breastfeeding going? I had a bit of a tricky start with DD and we’re still going 20 months in so happy to help however I can if needed!

So jealous of all you lovely ladies with your dates booked in, I’m already sick of the “any news” messages despite not telling anyone other than my husband, my midwife and you lot my actual due date!

retrievermum · 27/01/2025 11:11

@elb1504 I feel your pain with the piles! I got a huge one during labour last time and it’s never quite gone away (serves me right for having a small age gap!) but it’s now well and truly back with a vengeance!

I’d recommend packing some of those wet toilet wipes in your hospital bag; I personally felt a lot better about mine knowing I could at least clean myself up properly! I know you probably know but they give painkillers up your bum after you have a section so at least that might soothe the haemorrhoids a bit!

Yes the wet toilet wipes are my best friend anyway and some are packed in my bag! I remember after labour last time and EMCS they just disappeared and yep I'm sure the suppository painkillers will help with that too if they can navigate through them 😂

CarrotySnack · 27/01/2025 13:49

Thanks for the reminder about the blues, @retrievermum . It occurs to me that there's a danger that on day 3 we'll still be on a high, and will tell the in-laws 'come in a few days', only for me to be a blubbering mess when they actually arrive - which I do not want. I think I might factor that into my plans.

I'm also really sorry you had intrusive thoughts like that, and glad they got better - it must be so deeply unsettling. I've had just enough experience of them to have an idea of what it might be like and I think I'm a likely candidate for that myself, so again it's nice to have a well-timed reminder that this is normal-ish in early motherhood - or at least totally normal enough to talk about openly.

I'm due this weekend, but I'm in no rush! As long as I know he's safe inside me, I'd quite like a bit more free time 😂 According to that statistician/economist who wrote a book on pregnancy, if you're a FTM and not being induced then at 40w5d is when you hit the 50% chance they'd be born by then or not, and there's a 75% chance they'll have been born by 41w2d. I'm in the club with those resisting an induction (unless something happens medically to necessitate one, or I hit 42.5w) so I am setting myself up to expect end of next week. Funny how this group does seem to be skewed towards the start of Feb due dates.

CarrotySnack · 27/01/2025 13:58

Oh and I meant to say, @UrbanSquirrel - glad to have a demonstration that Aquariuses are fab! We're solidly in Aquarius now - until Pisces much later in the month. I'm a pisces - which is how come I don't believe in astrology whatsoever, but also slightly do, which is fine because, as a Pisces, I'm committed to indecisiveness 😂😭

QuantumPanic · 27/01/2025 14:05

@CarrotySnack Would you consider a sweep, or no?

I'm also 40w this Sunday. Happy to wait until 41w, but currently thinking I will accept the offer of a sweep if no baby by my next appointment at 40+5. I'm getting very little sleep ATM and not really achieving anything during the day. Just sitting around waiting and watching TV. Blah.

CarrotySnack · 27/01/2025 14:15

@QuantumPanic I'm not entirely set against a membrane sweep, and would want to do a bit more research, but I personally won't be going for one before 42w unless it's medically needed. They sound like they very often don't work (unless you're quite close to going into labour in any case) and are pretty unpleasant, and can cause contractions and things. So if I'm still happily bumbling along at 41w, I'll keep bumbling. But it's easy for me to say - I'm still feeling good and sleeping like a log at night. Might feel very differently if I wasn't - I don't envy you getting so little sleep :(
(Editing to add that I might be wrong about sweeps, this is just based on a relatively quick bit of research, and I would be happy to be corrected!!)
