Creating this as a space to continue the Feb 2025 chat - quite frankly it's all starting to feel very, very real right now!

I'm going for induction on 2nd and know there's 1 in 4 chance of having emergency caesarean. I too have booked lash extensions for 31st 2 days prior..are you able to have these in case of a EMCS?😮

ThisLimeDeer · 25/01/2025 11:07

Thank you ladies for clarifying! Perhaps I will just have to deal with my short straight lashes and stop being such a drama queen about it 🤣. There’s got to be a reason why legit places won’t do it so it’s best to listen to their advice. I will definitely look into it in the future though, googled some before and after images last night and they look so good!!

TMI BLOOD WARNING

Past two days I've had streaks of red blood in mucus plug and now starting to think it's my bloody show as I am having pains here and there just very sporadic however I've also dtd past two days so not sure if it's irritation but I don't get the bloody mucus until the next day when I've already been to the toilet multiple times so it's not straight after dtd or anything. Do I ring triage about this or 😫

UrbanSquirrel · 25/01/2025 11:54

@apple67cherry I think it might be worth checking with triage. Worst case scenario, they'll tell you it's all fine and you will just feel a bit more reassured. Best case scenario, you get ahead of the game! I think the fact there's blood makes it wise to check - but then I'm a FTM and probably worry too much 😉 x

Also a FTM and don't want to embarrass myself going to triage and they say "that looks like cervical irritation to me" but then again I've not done anything differently and never bled throughout the pregnancy from dtd so maybe it's taking my plug out 🤷‍♀️

UrbanSquirrel · 25/01/2025 12:15

They've always stressed that they would much rather we go to triage and it isn't anything, than find out we haven't 😊 And if it's something very common they might be able to put your mind at rest over the phone? Definitely don't worry about embarrassment! I don't think any of us can afford the luxury of embarrassment over the next few weeks, considering what's going to be happening to us 😜

Good luck, whatever you decide! x

retrievermum · 25/01/2025 12:39

@apple67cherry very normal for your plug to be blood stained, but if in doubt at all, get checked! The midwives won’t be bothered if
its just cervical irritation, but if you’re worried at all, pop in!

Just as a little anecdote, with my first, I didn’t realise when my waters had gone but when I started getting contractions, I kind of instinctively knew what they were! I’d spent weeks wondering “is this it?” every time I was in pain or crampy, but when the real deal kicked in, I somehow just knew! Hoping it’s the same this time around 😂

elb1504 · 25/01/2025 12:46

Same as what @retrievermum says I just knew when my contractions started that it was them rather than just general aches and pains for the FTM amongst us, you will know!

Mine started mildly but knew it was likely them so did lots of jobs including washing my hair haha and it took over 24 hours for them to really ramp up! So they really do most of the time take ages to establish!

Triage just said it's normal and to only call back if waters break 🤷‍♀️😂 suppose it's just a waiting game x

UrbanSquirrel · 25/01/2025 16:30

OK, great! But it was good to double check 😊 As you say, back to the waiting game! x

MAN DOWN! 12 day countdown to c-section on 6th Feb and husband has man flu! Help....I've dosed him with Beecham and vit c, but so worried my 8yr old and / or I'm going to take it.

Doubt they'd perform surgery if I'm ill, I heard this years cold and flu get into the chest very quickly! First sign of illness in our house since Xmas 2023 and worrying about the virus still being present in my house when bringing home a newborn

Not sure what I want from this post other than to word vomit my fear of getting ill!

QuantumPanic · 25/01/2025 21:14

@TTCagain85 Oh no!! Can you fully quarantine him? Lock him in a room with a kettle, several boxes of lemsip and a couple of buckets for a week? Have him stay with someone else for a week? (I'm only partially kidding.)

I think 12 days is enough time for him to recover and no longer be contagious.🤞no one else catches it! (Even if you caught it next week, I think you'd still recover in time for your section. But obviously being heavily pregnant with the flu would be horrifying - really hoping you avoid that!)

UncharteredWaters · 25/01/2025 22:17

@apple67cherry lashes are not an issue for a c-section.

False/coloured nails can mean the oxygen probe struggles to get a good trace, but can be attached to a toe in desperation or can use some remover that morning.

Enjoy the lashes!

UrbanSquirrel · 25/01/2025 23:08

@TTCagain85 Eek! As @QuantumPanic says, is there any way he can go to recover somewhere else? Does he have parents nearby who could take him in temporarily? If not, then fingers crossed that with all your vaccinations you should be fine... MrSquirrel went down with a very bad cold a few weeks ago and I seem to have avoided it completely, thanks to the flu, Covid and RSV vaccines. Really hope they do the job for you - and have you tried First Defence? That's OK to use when pregnant and might just add an extra layer of protection xxx

TTCagain85 · 25/01/2025 23:30

Thankfully all my vaccines up to date! Our parents all quite old so sending to them not an option. I've him dosed on Beecham max strength, Vit C tablets and bed rest. Hoping it does the job!

Ps one of my besties is an ob & gynae doc who might be on surgery duty the day of my section. I did mention I was having my nails done today for my babyshower tomorrow and asked would I need to have them removed before section and she said no, that is totally outdated! Can keep them on!

Hhdxx · 26/01/2025 04:58

Hey! Hope everyone is doing ok.
I'm kind of feeling sorry for myself.
The last few days, I've become so achy. I feel like my groin and thighs are aching, I have mild period cramps which are Braxton Hicks and have seen them on the monitor too.dows anyone else have achy thighs and groin! It's so weird. Also, I feel like my bump has become achy too.
Random but I have really bad carpal tunnel syndrome for a few weeks (hence why I'm typing at 5am). My hands are so painful and I can't sleep.
Sorry for word vomit! Can't sleep!

Hey, I've had a really achy thigh for a couple of days, right at the very top. My cramps/tightenings have started becoming more painful too as of last night, although sooo far apart that I can't consider them contractions yet (hours apart), hence why I'm awake at this time too. I thought I may have been going into labour an hour ago but nothing since.
I've also been suffering with carpal tunnel for months now, but, saying that, mine has actually eased slightly the past month or so. The joys of it all eh! Not much longer to go now 🤞🏼

Hhdxx · 26/01/2025 05:29

@Lunalovegod sorry to hear you're awake too!
I've decided to get up and clean the kitchen 🤣
Yeah the achy thighs are weird! I'm not due my C-section for another 19 days. I'm only just over 35 weeks. AHH!
Did you use anything for the carpal tunnel? I've tried paracetamol, Massaging, wrist braces but nothing seems to help. My job is quite a Manuel one where I use my hands to make things so not sure how I'm going to work for the next two weeks!

Lunalovegod · 26/01/2025 05:46

@Hhdxx I almost went to wash my hair just incase 😂 but I've ended up having some toast and I'm going to try to go back to sleep for a bit.
Tbh I've just pushed through with the carpal tunnel, I'm not a big fan of medication (God knows what I'm going to do in labour tbh as I don't want an epidural, but I also know I can't take the pain!) I haven't had it very severely though, mostly at night and usually when driving. I was told to bend my wrist backwards to open the flow of fluid, which seems to help a bit. Other than that, the midwife said we just have to live with it and it'll go after the birth. I can imagine it's much more difficult though with a manual job like yours. Sorry I don't have more advice!

Hhdxx · 26/01/2025 05:49

@Lunalovegod toast sounds like a good shout. I've just had a lovely hot chocolate. I'll try the wrist exercises thank you!

superj21 · 26/01/2025 07:24

@Hhdxx I developed carpal tunnel a few weeks back and the only thing which has helped me is the wrist splint. I was up crying in the night with the pain - felt like my arm was on fire from shoulder down! I bought this one: amzn.eu/d/0xbTL6Q

Still get some numbness and discomfort with the splint but not pain like before.

Piluka · 26/01/2025 07:27

@Onepinksloth congratulations with your baby Vera!!!!

@Lunalovegod if you don't want pain take the epidural during labour. Honestly. I asked for one and in the end for various reasons the midwife didn't gave it to me (most of the time I felt it was an excuse what they were telling me) anyway, I had the most horrendous pain I've ever had in my life (socially pushing the baby's head. I felt I was being ripped in half. Honestly. If my amniocentesis I felt I was greeting and meeting Jack the Ripper for labour I was in a Saw movie. OMG. If you want to listen to a crazy woman who doesn't like to be in pain, take everything you can. The stronger the drug the better.

superj21 · 26/01/2025 07:38

@Piluka just saw the picture on facebook, congratulations !! What a cutie but that must have been a bit of a surprise! Sorry to hear the labour was so long and there was an issue getting the epidural. Hope you are both home soon xx
