Creating this as a space to continue the Feb 2025 chat - quite frankly it's all starting to feel very, very real right now!

UrbanSquirrel · 24/01/2025 09:09

@Onthedouble123 Absolutely! You're very welcome; very happy to have a new addition to the gang! Yes, the dates do fluctuate. Quite a few of us, me included, are going to end up having January babies, but I'm sticking around here because this group is awesome and clearly much more fun than on the other threads 😜 x

I haven't had any luck expressing colostrum either this time or first time round so I wouldn't stress too much about it. I had trouble starting feeding last time but did do some breast feeding so had no bearing on that.

The realisation is starting to set in that I'm having a baby in a few days 😲 Not sure I've actually properly thought about it and thought about having 2 children! Emotions are all over the place!

Redapple21 · 24/01/2025 09:26

@elb1504 me too, my head is starting to go into a spin about having 2 children, I can't believe it's happening so soon now! Still worrying about my little boy and how he will cope with such a big change. I guess we will soon find out .... xx

Onthedouble123 · 24/01/2025 09:27

@UrbanSquirrel thank you! How exciting! Baby announcements are the absolute best.

I'm hoping being in this group will push me along a bit with organisation! Need to get my bags packed and the cot built!

Also need to think about my section birth plan. Not sure how much say my Trust give you in what happens in theatre. Xx

The nausea has been past two days now and contractions have been on and off last few days so we will see. Baby wasn't engaged at all though when I saw midwife 2 days ago :(

update: midwife has text me to say the day after she saw me the hospital did indeed say baby was engaged and must've been a mistake she made so feeling more hopeful now 🙂

UrbanSquirrel · 24/01/2025 09:34

@apple67cherry Ooh an exciting development! Keep us posted! 😃 x

I was hoping to start harvesting colostrum after my midwife appt next week but I’ve just been to see GP and i have mastitis 😢so onto a course of antibiotics today to hopefully clear it up before it makes me poorly 🤒

cherrybl0ssom5 · 24/01/2025 11:13

following! FTM due feb 4th 😬

UrbanSquirrel · 24/01/2025 11:20

Oh no @Pepsix - what rotten luck! Mastitis even before the baby is born? I didn't even know that was possible 😬 Hope the antibiotics sort it out very soon and that you're soon feeling better xxx

Neither did I! I haven’t even been leaking anything so didn’t think it was possible, but she said you can get it even when not pregnant?!
I’m glad I went to the GP today and didn’t wait until I saw my midwife Monday as she said I would have likely become poorly by then!
Luckily feeling ok so hopefully the antibiotics work quickly 🤞

@UncharteredWaters I have read your message several times and I am sure it's something completely obvious, and it's just that my brain has finally shut down completely... what does 3/52 mean? x

Sorry my bad shorthand - 3 weeks. Well 2 weeks and 6 days now!

Redapple21 · 24/01/2025 12:37

I feel like I'm on an emotional rollercoaster today. I just want my baby to be here safely now. 5 days until C-section date. Feels so near and yet so far! Xx

ThisLimeDeer · 24/01/2025 13:15

I’m waiting for all the baby announcements, you’re all so close!!! ♥️
I still don’t have the exact date for my section - it’s the week between 10-14 Feb so for me it’s between 16-20 days before I meet my baby. It feels close but also far 🤣.
Got a week of work left and this weekend I’m going to try and see some friends as after next week and when work is finished my plan is to nest and pamper myself, I don’t want any social engagement or anything to do really 🤣.

retrievermum · 24/01/2025 15:31

@ThisLimeDeer my toddler is at nursery today and I’m still feeling shitty from yesterday so I’ve given myself a lash lift and tinted my eyebrows - never done either before but I feel like a goddess now!

UrbanSquirrel · 24/01/2025 17:09

@retrievermum Oh gosh, you're showing me up. I thought I was doing well because I remembered to put face cream on last night! 😜

Seriously, though, that sounds like a lovely day and I hope it gave you the boost you deserve. I bet you look fabulous xxx

@UrbanSquirrel I’ve cancelled the four (?!?!) consultant appointments I’m meant to have over the next three weeks and booked to get my nails done instead, so I’m feeling much better!

(I know you’re not meant to get your nails done before labour in case of a section but oh well!)

ThisLimeDeer · 24/01/2025 21:31

I’ve actually debated getting lash extensions, I know it sounds really stupid but I want to look nice in my first photo with my son and they told me I’m not allowed to wear makeup for the section. I’ve assumed in the end that I’m probably not allowed extensions either and abandoned the idea (plus I’ve only ever had them done once so I don’t know if I’d find it annoying)

retrievermum · 24/01/2025 21:50

@ThisLimeDeer I’d recommend a lash lift!

As it happens, with my section last time I had a full face of make up on, so I don’t think it’s that they can’t do it if you’re wearing make up, they’d just prefer to be able to see the real colour and texture of your skin to help them work out how well you’re coping. That being said, they still realised I wasn’t coping well through my make up!

ThisLimeDeer · 24/01/2025 22:06

@retrievermum ooo a lash lift might be a good idea. I know you’ve just done one yourself but would you say it’s better for someone who’s never done it (me) to just go somewhere to get it done? 🤣

retrievermum · 24/01/2025 22:11

@ThisLimeDeer absolutely get someone to do it for you, I’m not quite sure what came over me as I ordered a kit of chemicals to put on my eyes?! Luckily it worked out okay and I didn’t blind myself, but I think in future I’ll be sticking to professionals 😂

UrbanSquirrel · 24/01/2025 22:54

@retrievermum It sounds like you have a plan, and I'm so pleased to hear that you're feeling better about the whole thing 🤗 And, worst case scenario, if you need a section, you can take the nail varnish off!

@ThisLimeDeer I am genuinely impressed at your planning! TBH I've never really worn much makeup and if there are any pics in the hospital I am prepared to look like a drained blubbery ghost... Hoping to get a nice social-media-announcement pic once we're home and I can wrestle MiniSquirrel into a dress I've bought. That'll be my cue to brush my hair and try to find what I've done with my lipstick 😂

Good luck with your lash lift, hope it looks stupendous! x

@OnePinkSloth Just read your update on the last thread and wanted to add my congratulations - so happy to hear that baby Vera has arrived safely (such a pretty name!), and hope you'll both be home very soon 🤗 Well done you xxx

@ThisLimeDeer you might have trouble getting a legit place to do it for you! I don't do a lash lift often but tried to book one with my usual place not that long ago but they won't do it if you're pregnant or breastfeeding. Might just be their own policy and I never asked anywhere else 🙂

Onthedouble123 · 25/01/2025 08:48

@ThisLimeDeer @superj21 I've had the same with both my last pregnancy and this one. She can tint them but won't put the perm solution on for the lift. Xx

UrbanSquirrel · 25/01/2025 09:30

I didn't even know lash lifts were a thing until this thread, so thank you everyone for introducing me to the concept. Definitely going to be looking into this at some point...
