Creating this as a space to continue the Feb 2025 chat - quite frankly it's all starting to feel very, very real right now!

Hey! How's everyone doing?
Am I the only person whose baby doesn't sleep? Literally waking every hour and I can't cope 😭 he's been like it for weeks.

AH2023 · 17/06/2025 10:07

It’s not just you!! We are up every hour at the moment and have been for 2.5 weeks now. 4 month regression hitting HARD.

Kumquat89 · 17/06/2025 12:23

@Hhdxx and @AH2023 hang in there. Mine is up every 2 hours but has never been doing really long stretches. I long for them so much! He had the rotavirus vaccine the other day and slept 7 hours straight, had to wake him to see if he is alright and feed him. It felt so weird !
But what I really really struggle with are naps! I spend the whole day trying to get him to nap a little so that he doesn’t get overtired and so that I get 30 mins to myself. It’s really tough on the days my partner is not working from home to be honest.

Redapple21 · 17/06/2025 13:51

@Hhdxxwe are on at least 2 wake ups each night, often 3. I found with my first baby that he never slept through until I did some sleep training around 8 months old. I will probably do the same again this time. I think all babies are just different so hang on in there, it won’t be like this forever. Hope you’re ok. It’s really hard when you’re not getting much sleep x

Hi all, is there a follow on thread from this one or not?

UrbanSquirrel · 02/09/2025 20:52

@OnePinkSlothHello! I don’t think there is, as we’re still some way off the key 1,000 posts. But gosh, hasn’t time flown?! I don’t know about anyone else, but that sudden transformation between semi-abstract baby in the womb, and very-much-present baby in real life, has kept me rushed off my feet, and I’ve been shamefully absent from this thread.

I hope you’ve all had plenty of support from other quarters? I’ve been tremendously lucky with my NCT group, who’ve turned out to be wise, funny, and sociable. That’s been a godsend as we’ve tried to understand the small, impatient and frequently very funny person we’ve ended up with.

How is MiniSloth getting on? MiniSquirrel is now seven months old, 10kg, cheerfully on the 98th percentile and wearing 12-18 month clothes. I’ve almost bankrupted myself trying to keep up with her growth spurts on Vinted 😉 She’s only rolled a few times, largely by mistake, hates tummy time, and shows no sign of crawling, but loves sitting up (rather unstably, due to her weight). She loves books, and has invented her own peekaboo game, and is proving to be tremendously violent with toys, which either get eaten, or banged viciously on the nearest hard surface. She’s always willing to try the newest purée flavour, but makes a point of looking unimpressed with every single one. And she has an almost Wagnerian ability to hold a high-pitched shrieking note.

We love her to bits.

I do hope everyone else is finding this whole crazy journey satisfying? Clearly there are moments where I’m desperate for sleep, or worried because she’s sick, or just grumpy, but, all things considered, I think we ended up pretty lucky 😊 I hope the same is true for you, @OnePinkSloth!

And hopefully, if you have questions, enough of us will be tempted back that we can have a good chat about them 😊 x

@UrbanSquirrelits a wild ride isn’t it!! Our little guy is six and a half months and started crawling a couple weeks ago. Now pulling himself up on everything and causing chaos! It all happened very quickly and I wouldn’t mind if he went back to being a bit more stationary 🤣. Food obsessed and smiles constantly. That little smile makes up for any bad night 😅! Glad to hear MiniSquirrel is doing good !

UrbanSquirrel · 02/09/2025 22:10

@superj21So glad to read about your little boy! He sounds like he’s doing tremendously. What a little adventurer!

I’m actually rather glad that MiniSquirrel’s lack of interest in gross motor skills is giving us a bit of a stay of execution, so to speak. She’s so stubborn that, once she gets moving, it’s going to be chaos 😂 For now she’s focusing on social and fine motor skills, and is just relentlessly charming to everyone (while expecting DH and I to be her slaves, of course), and her favourite toy is her abacus, so it’s all rather sweet…
