Creating this as a space to continue the Feb 2025 chat - quite frankly it's all starting to feel very, very real right now!

OP posts:

@QuantumPanic @prizecow thanks so much for the solidarity! And I gulp down paracetamol if I've got any kind of ache - small mercies 😅. Interesting about the body temp though I didnt know that! Finally managed some sleep last night, but had to literally dousing myself in lavender oil before bed.

When are you due? Are you feeling ready?

Im off to a reflexology appointment today to see if that helps with general discomfort and maybe labour.

ridl14 · 12/02/2025 10:03

Do you mean thyroid shouldn't be managed by midwives or general practice?

I'm happy with the care though, it's not been midwives managing my TSH levels as I agree that's not their remit, but one spotted that I was borderline overactive on my last blood test a month previous and the GP had just offered me a phone appointment in a couple of weeks and another test in another month's time. I said I'd also seen this on the app and was concerned about it so she asked them to bring my appointment forward, which I didn't know was an option. Turned out I was then overactive even by the time of the earlier blood test, as I'd thought might happen with the pregnancy progressing, and the GP agreed about different measures of TSH for each trimester. So I do agree for sure not for midwives to manage a thyroid problem but I think sometimes GPs are so busy they might miss some relevant info like the context of the pregnancy and it was helpful having someone point it out

@superj21 @Pepsix @bumpkin34 I think we might be due around the same time, near the 20th? How's everyone doing?

I'm quite torn, enjoying my first week of mat leave and trying to get some rest/do the last bits of my to do list but I'd also prefer to avoid induction if at all possible and have a feeling baby will be overdue. My original due date was the 27th until the first growth scan moved it forward a week, idk if that makes a difference! I'll be 39 weeks tomorrow, part of me thinks should I start eating all the dates and going for long walks, or do I just cherish the last bit of time with my feet up and a quiet house 😂

I was due on the 10th but at this rate it feels like I'll be closer to the 20th 😂 I've been eating all the dates, raspberry leaf tea, walks etc but still overdue! Got a midwife appt today and now so torn about whether to have a sweep or not. I have very much enjoyed the last few weeks being off on mat leave and chilling, watching tv, napping and pottering about but now I'm worried about getting pushed into induction territory.

Cheeseandcrackers123 · 12/02/2025 10:55

I am due next week on 18th Feb. Have been generally feeling OK the last few weeks and was happy / surprised baby was still cooking. Had an awful night last night though - terrible heartburn and nausea (weird as not symptoms I’ve had really bar first trimester nausea) and just feel washed out today. Keep wondering if it’s a sign of something happening but probably just how I’m going to feel for next few weeks 😩

QuantumPanic · 12/02/2025 11:07

I was due on the second so now a whole ten days over. 🙃 Have had two sweeps and absolutely nothing is happening. Had a scan and baby has dropped off the curve so now on the list for an induction - much like an elective C section, lists are arranged by priority so I'm waiting for the call to come in and hoping (but with very little expectation) that I go into labour in the meantime.

The best laid plans!!

prizecow · 12/02/2025 11:35

@Totters123 glad you had a good night last night! I was up raiding the fridge at 1am 😂 let us know how you get on with the reflexology today, I hope it helps!

I'm due on 7th March so got a while to go, although my DS was a week early so have been lurking around the Feb groups too! I'm actually hoping baby doesn't make an appearance for the next fortnight as my son will be on half term next week and I've still got so much to prep and sort for this new baby now I'm on mat leave. Although I'm not enjoying being very pregnant with the insomnia, back and hip pain!

Pepsix · 12/02/2025 11:48

@ridl14 yeah I’m due 19th so 39 weeks today 😬
I have a growth scan on my due date then a midwife appointment on 20th so hoping to know what might happen next week but I’m still hoping he comes naturally as I’m not overly keen on induction 🫣

I am finding it so hard to “relax” as I feel I’m wasting my time by sitting around but then my body is screaming in pain by the end of the day by doing too much….we can’t win can we 😅

jaybeez · 12/02/2025 12:04

Had my follow up midwife appointment today after my not so good experience on Monday, and it was world's apart. It was a new midwife, but she was clued up on my situation / had read my notes so knew what was going on! Had another sweep today (39+3) and was told I'm 2cm, so fingers crossed something happens soon!

CoopeyMum · 12/02/2025 12:20

Afternoon ladies,

Not been a part of the previous threads, but I'm jumping on for hopefully the last few days.

I'm due on 18th. First baby and fully ready for his appearance. Isn't these last few days totally exhausting!! disturbed sleep, aches pains, wondering if anything will progress each day.

I had a sweep yesterday, consultant said that I was ripening well. Had cramping and some what I thought were contractions for about an hour or 2 last night but it all tailed off again.

Feeling very miserable today, still having a bit of bleeding post sweep, dark and bitty blood but absolutely no further symptoms. Feel like I've wasted these few weeks off I've already and I just want to know where I stand.

There was another poster mentioned about half term next week, I'm desperately hoping to go before that kicks in, we have our step children full time so it'll quickly and rapidly turn into a logistical nightmare if I wasn't to go before Sunday. Grandparents are also away on holiday from Sunday 🤯

Not really asking much, it's just nice to share Equal impatience.

superj21 · 12/02/2025 13:03

@QuantumPanic I really feel for you! I declined a sweep today but will probably give it a go next week if baby still isn't here, though I'm not convinced they do much that wasn't going to happen l anyway. I really want to avoid induction. Fingers and toes crossed for you that you go into labour before induction 🤞🤞

Odessa1 · 12/02/2025 16:47

Heya, I've been lurking for a bit. I'm 40+5 today and had my first sweep yesterday afternoon. Within an hour I'd lost my plug and have had back ache and period cramps ever since. But not regular at all, just sort of...always there. It's exhausting second guessing every twinge!

I personally found the sweep painful so have decided I won't have anymore if this one doesn't work. Induction booked for 41+5 which I am desperate to avoid, so really hoping she makes an appearance before then.

superj21 · 12/02/2025 17:58

Fingers crossed for you @Odessa1 - it defo sounds like things are moving in the right direction! Is there a reason you've booked an induction?

superj21 · 12/02/2025 18:01

@Odessa1 sorry in case that came across rude! I'm just wondering as my midwife knows I don't want one and has been very chill about it not being something we have to consider until such a time as it might be medically indicated

Not at all! So my midwife has referred me for an induction but has put a note that I don't consent to it. She is now on leave for a month so said she was sending it through so that I stay on people's radar while she is off, and that I can just decline next week if that's still how I feel!

She was actually lovely about it, I made reference to being fed up by 41+5 and that I'd probably just accept by then but she reminded me I've been anti induction the whole way through and encouraged me to stick to my birth plan (midwife led centre, water birth etc). So she definitely isn't pushing it, felt more like just sending it off before she goes on leave.

superj21 · 12/02/2025 18:22

Aw @Odessa1 she sounds like a fab midwife! Let's hope it's an unnecessary booking and you'll have your baby in your arms by what would be 41+5 😊

MyHappyNewt · 12/02/2025 23:33

A little update: baby Newt was born early on 11 th Feb (40+1) after a whirlwind, very intense 2 hour labour!

UncharteredWaters · 13/02/2025 01:02

Wow 2 hour labour @MyHappyNewt
Congratulations and hope all well!

Hhdxx · 13/02/2025 01:39

Baby Leo was born yesterday weighing 7lbs 7oz at 37+3 via planned c section.
Absolutely in love 💙

elb1504 · 13/02/2025 03:54

ThisLimeDeer · 13/02/2025 05:20

@MyHappyNewt and @Hhdxx huge huge congratulations!!

I’m going in for my planned c-section this morning!! I’m so nervous I’ve hardly slept. I really hope it all goes to plan, it feels so surreal to finally get to this point!

@UncharteredWaters I know you’re going in today as well so good luck to us both 😻🥰

Hey I'm doing okay. First week of maternity leave this week and have not stopped as been moving all the bedrooms round.
Then spilt paint on the carpet so have hired a rug doctor and spent all yesterday cleaning the carpets.
In agony now so need to take it easy today. But luckily being so busy means I'm sleeping like a log minus the every 2 hour pees 😂

Got midwife today where the doctors at the hospital for reduced movements said I could have a sweep. So am going to for it. I'm so ready to get this baby out now.

I have the most itchy rash from hell. 😂

Congratulations @Hhdxx and @MyHappyNewt
