Creating this as a space to continue the Feb 2025 chat - quite frankly it's all starting to feel very, very real right now!

Morning all! Baby boy arrived on the evening of the 11th. CS went to plan and was a very positive experience for myself and my husband but baby is in NICU getting some help but doing well and hopefully will be onto the ward with me today.

superj21 · 13/02/2025 08:29

Congratulations @Hhdxx , @MyHappyNewt and @Hopefully2ndtimemummy !

@MyHappyNewt a 2 hour labour sounds absolute wild - hope you're ok!

Congratulations @Hhdxx , @MyHappyNewt and @Hopefully2ndtimemummy !

@MyHappyNewt a 2 hour labour sounds absolute wild - hope you're ok!

Congratulations all!! Hope everyone is being looked after well and enjoying their beautiful babies ❤️

@Odessa1 think we have the same Plan A for delivery! Really hope it works out 🤞🏼 I had some cramping and back pain last night, was thinking this could be it, went for a nap and nothing!

MyHappyNewt · 13/02/2025 16:15

Thank you everyone!

@superj21 it was crazy! Unfortunately her heart rate started to go south towards the end so had to have an episiotomy and also tore twice as they needed me to push as hard as I could to get her out 😬 so currently probably look like something out of a Tim Burton film down there but oh well 🤪

We’re ok otherwise, just a bit shocked and tired. Baby has quite a lot of mucus due to coming out so fast. I’m just glad that she’s safe. Triage didn’t believe that I was in established labour so was left in a corridor mooing on the floor in front of various people and gave birth in a back-up room on labour ward (read broom cupboard. Didn’t even have a toilet), but the LW midwife was an angel.

superj21 · 13/02/2025 17:20

Oh jeez @MyHappyNewt you absolute super woman!! That's absolutely shocking that triage treated you like that though. I hope they gave you gold star treatment afterwards!!

ridl14 · 13/02/2025 20:50

@MyHappyNewt really glad you are both safe in the end, that sounds so awful! Hope you are healing well too 💐 and glad you had at least one great LW midwife with you, just so sorry about your experience

ThisLimeDeer · 14/02/2025 01:17

My beautiful son arrived on 13th Feb at 09:45am weighing 8lbs 7 oz and he was delivered via a planned c-section.
The section itself was a really positive experience. All the staff who delivered my baby were amazing, the whole team, such lovely people who gave me reassurance, kept us calm and safe.
midwives and nurses on the ward were also absolute angels including student midwives, going out of their way to help.
I’m having trouble producing milk, I was given all kinds of options which unfortunately didn’t work so I do recommend having ready made formula with you in your hospital bag, mine came in handy although I will continue trying to breastfeed.
@MyHappyNewt I’m so sorry you had to go through this but I’m glad the midwife was lovely and that both you and little one are safe and doing well 🫶

Kumquat89 · 14/02/2025 05:44

Hey all. Did anyone notice I disappeared for a couple of days? 🤪 Baby Arès was born on 12/2 Wednesday evening 23:59:30 bang on 40 weeks. He is 3.180 kg.

My labour was the lovely experience I was hoping for! Contractions started about 7:30 in the morning. They were irregular between 3-15 minutes varying through the day. Towards the evening they kind of stabilised at 3-5 mins although still had the random one at 6-7. Because I had some brown blood my independent midwife advised me to go to the hospital as she thought the cervix was in the process of opening. By the time we got there around 20h30 the contractions sort of established at 3 min 30. They asked me if it’s my first baby which it is and took about an hour or so to put me in a room to get checked but then waited another at least half an hour in the room before someone came- apparently they were flooded on the 12th- many births. Anyway when she checked me I was at 7-8cm already. Had just about enough time to go in the natural birth room and get in the tab for about an hour with gas and air before I started feeling the change towards the pushing contractions and had to get out. Didn’t push a lot but pushed quite hard (apparently the lovely midwife that was with me on the night was telling me to stop at some point -in French- which I didn’t register 😅). So the only bad side is that I teared quite a bit.

Congratulations to everyone else that also gave birth the last couple of days and those that are waiting: girls hold on it’s coming, it can be frustrating to wait, I bet even more when you pass due date, you have my thoughts and all my wishes that baby decides to come before eviction day. Remember it’s more likely that it will come than it won’t.

bumpkin34 · 14/02/2025 06:58

Congratulations @Kumquat89 and @ThisLimeDeer
Bet you both so happy they are here 😍

Well I had a sweep done yesterday as the doctor said I could due to reduced movements but the midwife I seen said there was nothing in my notes, so I feel she did it but was super cautious as it didn't hurt at all.
I had a few regular cramps last night and have woken up this morning with no baby 😂 so didn't work. Have another one in a week so hopefully that one's more successful.

WildeWalker · 14/02/2025 07:17

40+2 here and not a single sign he’s on his way, the wait is so hard. I’ve a sweep booked this evening, fingers crossed it kick starts something. Congrats to everyone who have welcomed their little one already this month ❤️🙌🏼

Kumquat89 · 14/02/2025 08:46

Just to make some ppl feel better as well had no signs before the day of my labour. Except maybe that I was very emotional the day before. 🤷🏻‍♀️ and the usual problems with sleep that got even worse the last couple of weeks.

bumpkin34 · 14/02/2025 09:29

Yea I think I was up every hour to pee last night yet hardly any pee was coming out 😂

ridl14 · 14/02/2025 09:50

Congratulations @Kumquat89 and @ThisLimeDeer, lovely to hear such positive experiences! Hope you and the little ones are recovering well ❤️

@bumpkin34 and @WildeWalker fingers crossed it happens soon!

I've been having the odd strong cramp for the last two days and this morning again, some lower back pain then nothing! Trying to just get on as normal, due date is Thursday so I know it could even be weeks yet.

@bumpkin34 so annoying the getting up in the night atm isn't it! I feel like my body is getting me ready for micro naps being the norm. Also need the loo all the time 😂 it's more pain than pressure to go now as well there's so little room left for my bladder!

bumpkin34 · 14/02/2025 12:50

@ridl14 yes that's exactly it.....more pressure than anything these days.

I'm still not due till next Sunday so this baby could be a march one 😭😂

Redapple21 · 14/02/2025 14:44

Congratulations on all of the recent arrivals, good luck to those still waiting, hopefully you won't be waiting too much longer now xx

superj21 · 14/02/2025 22:44

Our little guy arrived this morning after a bit of a wild labour with my waters being unknowingly broken for most of the day yesterday! Pic in the FB group 😊 all things considered the birth was actually pretty good although it went very quickly (about 6 hours from contractions starting to being fully dilated) so I'm still processing! Obsessed with all 8lb 3oz of my perfect wee boy 🥰

sandyglo · 14/02/2025 23:24

Congratulations on all of your lovely babies & best of luck to everyone else ❤️

I've been following since the first thread but believe this might be my first post! Had a bit of a shock today, after a fairly uneventful/low risk pregnancy, I was sent for another growth scan today. I've been told baby is now measuring on the 97th centile due to abdominal circumference pushing it up and they would recommend a section, I'd been to visit the birth centre the day before!

It's come as a bit of a shock as I'm due on the 19th but I'm reassured to read that your elective section went smoothly @ThisLimeDeer

I can't help but feel like I've missed out now after preparing myself mentally for a vaginal birth for months :(

Hopefully2ndtimemummy · 15/02/2025 00:11

Hi all, hope everyone is doing well.
bit of a tmi one for the fellow CS mums- constipation and now diarrhoea?
has anyone experienced same? It was 4 days since a no2 so asked my husband to pick up some lactulose as I could feel the cramping but nothing happening. Now I’ve got increased cramps and diarrhoea. Feeling so miserable and can’t sleep with the cramps. Anyone any suggestions of what I can do or take? I’ve been eating as conscious of stomach with all the painkillers but now I’m just dreading eating as it just causes more pain!
TIA

Hhdxx · 15/02/2025 01:48

@Hopefully2ndtimemummy I am the same here! Let me know if anything works. In a lot of pain from it xxx

elb1504 · 15/02/2025 04:22

@Hopefully2ndtimemummy I had this few days post section, I was massively constipated which then turned into diarrhea. Eventually after a day or so of the diarrhea it went back to normal and nearly 3 weeks on all is fully back to normal. I stopped taking ibuprofen as this was making it worse and stuck to just paracetamol and drank loads of water and kept to a moderately healthy diet. Hope it eases soon.

ThisLimeDeer · 15/02/2025 07:20

@sandyglo I don’t think you’re missing out on anything by having a c-section. It’s definitely a different experience and I can’t comment on vaginal delivery, but a section can still be a wonderful experience that you can plan and have choice over!
For example I was given an option to:

  • have my music (I said no, too paranoid and didn’t want to distract the surgeon haha)
  • my partner to cut cord
  • skin to skin
  • vit k preferences
  • delayed clamping
  • i can’t remember others but I was asked about other things too.
My partner was sitting right by my head as it was all happening and talked to me throughout and I just looked at him and that helped me personally feel less anxious but the staff also talked to me and explained everything (at times also just made chit chat to make it feel more natural for me). When the baby was taken out it was immediately brought to my attention and he was shown to me before skin to skin took place to reassure me that he was okay and safe and that he was coming to me soon. When they put him on me I can’t even describe what I felt, I just kept looking at him in disbelief. Honestly after that everything was a blur because once he arrived that’s all I could look at, think of or focus on. The rest of the procedure seriously went so so fast and then they wheeled me over to recovery. Please don’t worry and remember that you have choices, this is your delivery no matter how it happens. All the best, safe delivery and speedy recovery ❤️🫶

Speaking of recovery - the diarrhoea started for me already I think. I was surprised to have a poop this morning (I’m still in hospital!) and since then had another one and it was loose but we shall see where this goes.

Hopefully2ndtimemummy · 15/02/2025 08:20

Oh I’m so sorry to hear your experiencing it too @Hhdxx ! I feel like if they had just given me some omeprazole at least my stomach would have been protected a little. Haven’t eaten since dinner last night so dreading having some breakfast now!

Hopefully2ndtimemummy · 15/02/2025 08:24

@elb1504 thanks so much! Sorry to hear you had it too but glad it’s since resolved for you.
I didn’t have it last time but I also think the last hospital I was in was giving me omeprazole and odd dose of lactulose. I’m really hoping I don’t have another day of it today as it’s been a long night and I just want to try and start feeling normal again and to get the benefit of being able to rest a bit whilst my OH is off work!

Hopefully2ndtimemummy · 15/02/2025 08:28

@ThisLimeDeer
i think it’s positive that you’ve pooped already when still in hospital and hopefully that means you don’t have awful cramping and/or diarrhoea.
i had my CS late Tue and the food was really good in the hospital so I was eating well and taking pretty strong painkillers which I needed to be fair but the combination just meant I got so constipated with lots of cramping so asked OH to buy lactulose yesterday evening when we got home.
