Baby girl arrived this morning, a day before her due date!
I got my VBAC 🥹
Lovely quick five hours from arriving at the hospital to delivery, using just gas and air! I feel like superwoman!

Wow amazing!!!!! Well done you and congratulations!!

Just wanted to update that baby girl arrived as scheduled on Tuesday by C-section. It went as well as it could have gone and the whole team were brilliant, though I felt quite nauseous at the end. When they dropped the curtain the moment we saw her for the first time was the most amazing experience - she is the most gorgeous thing. Recovery is going well, and my milk has just come in which is exciting and a little bit uncomfortable!

Congratulations for all the babies so far and wishing all the best for the babies still to come. 🥰

ThisLimeDeer · 01/02/2025 08:06

Anyone that's has a C Section, how is recovery going for you? I'm only on day 3 but still painful especially trying to move around in bed, hoping few more days and it eases us a bit!.

Zip! I'm bouncing away on my yoga ball and readying myself for crushing disappointment. I haven't had so much as a twinge. ☹️

(My friend did say that she had no symptoms whatsoever until she woke up in the middle of the night with contractions, but I suspect she was just trying to make me feel better!)

Ive also heard the same- a lot have said they had nothing until they had a show then suddenly contractions would start! I’m eagerly checking each time I use the loo..
My mum said all she felt was a sore back initially before contractions started, then we were all delivered a few hours later. Although she went 40+6- 40+8 with all 4 of us 🥲

Anyone that's has a C Section, how is recovery going for you? I'm only on day 3 but still painful especially trying to move around in bed, hoping few more days and it eases us a bit!.

I took all the painkillers including dihydrocodeine, and I felt quite good first day home! Then in the evening I think it wore off and the stiffness hit me like a ton of bricks. Next morning I took more and felt fine again. But the midwife said to only use it as a last resort. So I'm trying to get by with just paracetamol and ibuprofen. I feel more achey inside and out as a result. Maybe it's a good thing to be aware of what hurts so that I don't do too much too fast? I do feel like every day is a bit better.

But yes just moving around the bed or getting off the bed is the hardest part of the day. When the baby came it was amazing to be able to lie on my back again. But now that my milk has come in I have very engorged and painful breasts so lying on my sides is now painful and I can't do any lying down side feeding!

ridl14 · 01/02/2025 23:38

Congratulations everyone, so amazing to hear about the January babies' safe arrivals! 🤗❤️

37 weeks currently - has anyone else started having little twinges almost like mini period pains that then go? I've had that, lower back pain and pelvic pain on and off, still another week at work and he's due on the 20th.

I also had a go at harvesting colostrum earlier and absolutely nothing! But I feel pretty calm about it.

Just been with extended family where (all very well-meaning but still) I had my MIL joking that I look like a sumo wrestler and when I was given a nice jumper in a size up, our auntie was saying it would be good motivation for me to lose the weight as fast as possible...

MyHappyNewt · 02/02/2025 05:02

Things have taken an interesting twist here…baby has been very cheeky and flipped transverse. I’m being kept in and also having investigations for tachycardia that was picked up at the same time. Have had to have a tape and a CTPA already to rule out arrhythmia and PEs - luckily both were negative! But it’s been a very sudden medicalisation of everything! Baby did manage to turn back and surprise us all but we think she might have an unstable lie.

39 weeks tomorrow so they’re going to discuss options in more detail soon. I might still get to go into labour naturally if she stays put but I’m not convinced she will!

ugh I hate when people joke/make comments about weight, especially in relation to someone who’s pregnant!
I really do think that ‘well meaning’ comments are said to make people feel in some way superior but to me it just makes them sounds insensitive and horrible (or in the case of my close friends it’s lack of knowledge because most don’t have kids) 🤢.
I’ve put on 15kgs in pregnancy and I wasn’t skinny to start with. One of my friends recently asked me in relation to that: ‘so what’s the plan?’ (context: she meant she wanted me to go to the gym with her asap after birth): I said: the plan is to have a c-section and survive weeks of recovery whilst prioritising my newborn?
Why am I expected to prioritise weight loss? It makes me so angry.
I will definitely want to lose weight but when I’m ready and on my own terms.

@Lunalovegod hope all going okay! Xx

Hey! Thanks for thinking of me. I've been in the hospital since Friday, getting a bit fed up now tbh! I was 2cm dilated as of yesterday and cervix is soft enough to break my waters, but the delivery room is full so I'm on a waiting list to go down. Just had a bloody show so things are progressing on their own while I'm waiting. I haven't had any more induction drugs since they took the pessary out yesterday, so that's a good sign. Hasn't been the best experience so far due to the delays and lack of sleep but I'm hoping he will be born today 🩵

Also, the poo in womb wasn't correct. I'm being induced due to the extra fluid, and when I mentioned the poo to the midwives they didnt know what I meant. They checked my notes and saw that the doctor has written "amniotic fluid, sludge. Meconium?" None of them have a clue what he means by sludge. But baby seems to be doing fine in the meantime. Fingers crossed it won't be long now.

Onthedouble123 · 02/02/2025 10:20

Hang in there @Lunalovegod. Delays sound frustrating but seems things are starting and hopefully will get going properly soon! He will be here in your arms before too long 🩵🩵 xx

Hhdxx · 02/02/2025 12:33

Hey everyone!
Congratulations to those of you whose babies have arrived already 💕

I am really overthinking my baby's movements too much now. I'm convinced that he's moving less and less compared to before but I don't know if it's just the movement that is different now? Is anyone else feeling the same?

Xxx

superj21 · 02/02/2025 12:52

@Hhdxx I felt the exact same for the last couple days and ended up going to triage yesterday. He's still been moving but it's just felt different - more rolls than kicks whereas I have been used to getting pumped! They hooked me up to the monitor for 30 mins and all was absolutely fine, but they still then said if I wasn't 100% happy they could induce me, which I wasn't impressed about! If you're worried go get checked for peace of mind 😊
