Creating this as a space to continue the Feb 2025 chat - quite frankly it's all starting to feel very, very real right now!

Thanks for all the lovely messages people!! Had the propess for only 3 out of the 24 hours and was 2cm!! So I'm on the list for waters to be broken now.

@UrbanSquirrel big congratulations!!xxx

Update: still waiting for waters to be broken..hope I'm not waiting too long🥺

bumpkin34 · 30/01/2025 15:10

@Cheeseandcrackers123 I am also going for a water birth. Heard amazing things.

I'm only 36+4 though so still a while to go.

Did have really bad I guess braxton hicks last night but then they went.

Really hope things start soon 😂🙈

bumpkin34 · 30/01/2025 15:11

@apple67cherry good luck 🤞

I'm struggling a fair bit, day 8 post partum. Very tearful, sleep deprived and stressed. Appreciate everyone's different but be great to hear if anyone's similar experiences. Xo

I'm officially no longer in the wait and see club! I had my last growth scan today and have been booked in for induction tomorrow at 38+5 as discovered my fluid levels are too high and baby has started to poo in me. I was given the option of waiting until 39 weeks but I'm worried about the poo situation, so I'm in tomorrow. Baby was so low down during the scan that they couldn't scan his head, I had to have the bed tilted with my head down and pelvis more upright! Never experienced that! But I'm hoping that means he's super ready and the induction process won't be long.

Onthedouble123 · 30/01/2025 21:38

@Lunalovegod hope you manage to get a decent night's rest in preparation for tomorrow!
I didn't realise they could even tell they'd pooed by a scan! Good that they weren't overly worried for you to wait a few more days but think I'd have decided the same as you.

Here's hoping you've got a bundle in your arms and sharing a positive birth story with us all by this time tomorrow night! ,💕

The baby blues can hit very hard and you are in the trenches with recovery, enormous hormonal changes, getting used to feeding, sleep deprivation which makes everything feel so much worse on top of general life with a newborn. Hopefully it’ll ease over the next week or so but keep an eye on it xxx I struggled a lot with being very tearful and extremely anxious after my first baby but it did start to get better after a couple of weeks slowly. Midwives are very familiar with it and will be able to help if it doesn’t get better!

Neither did I, but I'm so glad they can as I know babies can get ill if they breathe it in.. I just want him out now and safe. Thank you, I'm quite anxious so I'm hoping to get a good amount of sleep as I'm going to need the energy now! I'm so looking forward to meeting him and seeing his little face 😍 I'll update as soon as he's born! 🩵

SBelfast · 31/01/2025 07:32

Thanks @sohomum18! Will keep an eye on it, I'd be an anxious person at the best of times and have had a few depressed episodes in the past so was worried about post partum.
When I was in hospital I was using a breast pump which was great to supplement some of his feeds as he was tiny and jaundiced. Turns out our community midwife team have a more portable version of it on loan so was able to get that yesterday and my husband did the 'middle feed' 2-4.30 after me being up from 12-2 with him lol. Felt great having that break during the night.
Will have to get a pump today. Anyone any recommendations?

apple67cherry · 31/01/2025 09:06

Thank you amazing people. Baby boy born 8am bang on this morning, couple of tears but did 8cm on gas and air and the last 2 with epidural and had the most positive induction experience ever🥰🥰 my boy is perfect!

bumpkin34 · 31/01/2025 09:57

Wow! So many updates every time I come on 😍

Congratulations @apple67cherry

Good luck @Lunalovegod

Pump recommendation I think all the self wearing ones are good. I was going to get the mom cozy one but then found a cheaper one on Amazon and it's been amazing.

Ahhh congratulations 💕 I hope you're recovering and resting and enjoying newborn cuddles!

Kumquat89 · 31/01/2025 10:17

Congratulations @apple67cherry 🥳 how wonderful! It must be so nice to finally meet him.

How was the gas and air if I may ask? Wanting to try it too. You made it with just that until 8cm, it’s amazing. I think that actually here they don’t give you the epidural at 8cm because it’s almost the end 😅 you did a job especially as you must have been so tired by then.

Onthedouble123 · 31/01/2025 10:30

Congratulations @apple67cherry sounds like you smashed it! Enjoy those first cuddles 💕

Good luck today @Lunalovegod will be thinking of you! Xx

The first few weeks can be so tough, it's not just you! 8 days in was a very low point for me last time. It does get much better. If your partner can walk baby around in a sling whilst you get a longer stretch of sleep, that's what helped me. I'm determined to ask for more help this time, we've even got some night support booked. Do feel free to DM me if you're struggling!

MaiaForEmperor · 31/01/2025 13:28

Congratulations to all those with new arrivals! Lovely to have good news.

I've been having contractions on and off since Monday evening, spent a few hours in hospital when things seemed to be kicking off (3/4 contractions in 10 minutes) but then got sent home. I feel like everyone thinks I should know when go-time is as a second timer, but I really don't! Tearing my hair out over here and sick of the emotional rollercoaster 😭

TTCagain85 · 31/01/2025 13:38

Congratulations @apple67cherry !

For those whose waters have broken before timed contractions....what has it felt like immediately beforehand? I feel that I have a massive pressure in my cervix...it isn't my baby as she is high up and transverse (across my abdomin rather than head down)

Baby girl arrived this morning, a day before her due date!
I got my VBAC 🥹
Lovely quick five hours from arriving at the hospital to delivery, using just gas and air! I feel like superwoman!

Kumquat89 · 31/01/2025 16:17

Well done @retrievermum ! 💪 You give me so much courage! Hope you and your little girl are doing OK and you can manage to get some rest.

I know I'm missing a baby - I'm so sorry, but I'm terrible at matching Mumsnet names to FB names!! 😬

Ohhh this is so exciting!!! Congratulations everyone!!

Rejoining after a hiatus so sorry - hope everyone is doing well!

I'm currently 37 weeks as of yesterday, still have one more week at work to go. Last week I had a scan and a midwife appointment - both have said he's head down and very low but didn't say how engaged he was (I asked at the scan the day after the midwife and got told to ask the midwife!)

I've had pelvic pain suddenly hit pretty bad especially last weekend and Monday but did some yoga classes and it's been on and off and not as bad. I was so shocked how crap it felt though, like I had a broken pelvis! So sorry for anyone who's already been going through it.

I've had the odd twinge yesterday and today but think it's probably nothing - I reckon baby is either likely to show up as soon as I finish my last day at work or be seriously overdue 🤗 I'm torn between being so eager to meet him now and thinking I'd love a bit of time with my feet up first!
