Creating this as a space to continue the Feb 2025 chat - quite frankly it's all starting to feel very, very real right now!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Yes I’ve been in overnight last night again too for reduced (or rather slower weaker movements) and weird blood sugar levels. I want to be discharged now really but taking ages to see a doctor as it’s a Sunday. Shame as meant to be seeing friends in the park and the weather looks glorious. Interested to see if they push induction here too - not sure need or want it, but will listen to their advice and see.

Onthedouble123 · 02/02/2025 13:06

@Hhdxx I felt the same with my last baby. Really second guessing myself - how reduced counts as reduced and how different counts as enough of a change to need investigation? Constantly overthinking it! I ended up not ever going in and all was fine. But if in doubt definitely best to be safe than sorry! Xx

Hhdxx · 02/02/2025 13:11

@superj21 mine feels really different! I'm only 36+1 day so they won't induce me, also booked in for a c section for 37+6 as I'm a high risk pregnancy. How far along are you? X

ThisLimeDeer · 02/02/2025 13:20

I’m 36+6 today and I’d say I’ve felt movements differently for the past couple of weeks at least, maybe 3 weeks. Definitely more rolls than kicks and I think it’s due to my baby’s size - I don’t think he has much space to kick anymore, he just sort of shifts his bum around (which I see when it stick out 🤣).
I have been to triage 3 times over the course of my pregnancy for reduced movements and they’ve referred me for extra monitoring as a result of that - I went in twice a week for placenta scans until this week (as I have my last growth scan tomorrow, anaesthetist on Friday and then it’s go time). Always attend hospital when in doubt, better to be safe than sorry and they will always do what they can to check everything is ok and reassure you, I trust them so much more at the hospital than I do my community midwives whom I’ve had awful experiences with.

Yeah mine did too and worried me enough to go in! Defo go in and get checked if you're worried 😊. I'm 38+6 x

Hhdxx · 02/02/2025 13:23

The problem is... I go to triage about 3 times a week for movement 😳

That's (part of) what they are there for 😊 they'd always rather you came in if there are any worries. Do you do kick counting etc?

Would be interested to see what they say to you @Cheeseandcrackers123. I was unimpressed because they were all happy with baby on the monitor but were still willing to just offer me an induction for no medical reason - just if I wanted it, and with no explanation of the pros / cons.

Hhdxx · 02/02/2025 15:10

I am finding it really hard knowing what's normal movement now. I'm sure a few weeks ago my baby moved loads more but I guess he's got less room now.

I have been feeling under the weather for at least a week now but they keep telling me I've probably got a virus or something x

Congratulations everyone, so amazing to hear about the January babies' safe arrivals! 🤗❤️

37 weeks currently - has anyone else started having little twinges almost like mini period pains that then go? I've had that, lower back pain and pelvic pain on and off, still another week at work and he's due on the 20th.

I also had a go at harvesting colostrum earlier and absolutely nothing! But I feel pretty calm about it.

Just been with extended family where (all very well-meaning but still) I had my MIL joking that I look like a sumo wrestler and when I was given a nice jumper in a size up, our auntie was saying it would be good motivation for me to lose the weight as fast as possible...

Yea I am 37 weeks today and am also getting period type cramps.
More intense than the braxton hicks.

Another week of work and then I'll be happy for them to progress.

I have started to harvest colostrum also did manage to get a good 6ml out of my right side and then 3ml out of my left.
But Jesus Christ the the cramps get intense during it but then once I've stopped they go which is frustrating 😂

bumpkin34 · 02/02/2025 15:47

I'm with you all on changed movements too.

Went in Friday and they were happy so trying to think this different movements are my new normal.

Also stressing me out but trying not to worry. Roll on baby being here

Hhdxx · 02/02/2025 17:38

I've come in to triage as I've got group strep b in my urine. It's all so worrying x

Cheeseandcrackers123 · 02/02/2025 20:37

So I was advised I could have induction today given changed movements yesterday and my GD (and low blood sugar levels yesterday). She said the benefits were that at this point the baby should be fine as term and that the risks were largely that, whilst monitoring looked ok, it was only ever a point in time and so if I had concerns about movements plus had risk factor in GD then that might justify induction.

The baby actually moved a lot this afternoon and I wasn’t feeling ready to make decision there and then so I decided to go home but have been told to go back if any changes and if there are then they’d strongly recommend induction at that point.

Im personally keen to hold off induction if I can but will of course go for it if feels like need it for baby or me. I have been reading this this evening that I find helpful for my situation - there are others just on pros / cons of induction in quite a factual way if you don’t have GD.

Hope everyone is doing ok. It can be an anxious point in these last few weeks can’t it!

Hhdxx · 02/02/2025 20:44

@bumpkin34 they've given me oral antibiotics to take. Has anyone else had this. I'm so worried as my first baby died when she was 2 days old (not related to strep b)

jaybeez · 02/02/2025 21:06

Oh @Hhdxx that must be so scary, especially with your history. I don't have any advice to offer, but just want you to know I'm thinking of you and hoping you're getting all the right care.

Can't even begin to understand how difficult and stressful this pregnancy must be for you given what happened before. Sending hugs.

I've got GBS too (though not in urine, picked up during a swab earlier in my pregnancy). I was told I would have to take IV antibiotics during labour but the only risk to the baby is for a vaginal birth, not a c section. You should be fine since you've got your scheduled CS xx

Hhdxx · 02/02/2025 21:16

@superj21 I was told this too until it got into my urine 😭

superj21 · 02/02/2025 21:18

Does that make a difference @Hhdxx ? What did the doc say 😞?

Hhdxx · 02/02/2025 21:56

@superj21 she said it's not systematic which means it's in other parts of my body. I don't really understand it. This is so difficult. I've got to keep an eye on my temperature.

Cheeseandcrackers123 · 02/02/2025 22:07

Massive hugs @Hhdxx - as others have said I can’t imagine the stress and anxiety you’re under given your previous experience. I hope the staff are being supportive of that mental health impact as well as the physical issues you are having to manage xx

TTCagain85 · 02/02/2025 23:16

@Hhdxx pregnancy after loss is such an anxious time. I lost one at 18weeks, and I kept thinking once I get over 18 weeks gestation I'll feel OK. Shocker, I've been anxious throughout this pregnancy- maybe less so from 30 weeks or so. But it's still there, and I'm battling anxious thoughts about well meaning family and friends wanting to hold them when they get here...loving the love for my sweet baby, but anxious about sickness.

For you to have had your sweet baby pass 2 days after birth is just unimaginable- I'm sure you are very tuned in to your own body and the little life growing within. Know that you are doing everything right, seeking help with any concerns you are having. Pregnancy after loss is not something I'd wish on anyone.

You are so very nearly there where you can hold that little baby in your arms. A midwife once said to me "you won't relax until you're holding that baby" and that rings so true!

Good luck for the final week or so.xx

bumpkin34 · 03/02/2025 06:16

No sorry @Hhdxx I don't have any experience with this.

Maybe speak to your midwife with a list of questions you have rather than google.
Just so your informed xx

EastLondonCoffeeFiend · 03/02/2025 09:30

I’m so sorry @Hhdxx - I have group b strep picked up from a swab, and it’s definitely scared me. So I can only imagine what you’re going through, especially with your history. But you’re in the best place, I hope that you’re feeling really cared for. Sending you hope and strength ❤️
