Where are y’all based? That sounds so intricate. I’m in Scotland and I just had to call the maternity line and they organised my first midwife appointment as well as the 12 week scan there and then.

That’s great! London here.

Whereabouts? I'm in Lanarkshire and my experience with them in my prior pregnancies haven't been great lol.

We are not allowed to self refer until 6 weeks and then it takes another week for someone to call you back to ask some questions and then arrange your booking appointment. I'm not going to bother phoning until 8 weeks as this time I'll get a scan at EPU at 8 weeks so if all goes okay then ill phone to book in.

Plumchumm · 29/10/2024 21:10

@CadoAvo I’m in Edinburgh! :) wow that’s so strange I thought it was the same all over Scotland, nice to meet someone else from my neck of the woods though

Good morning ladies, how is everyone feeling?

i think im starting to get a dye stealer? The bottom one is this morning at 15dpo

Superscientist · 30/10/2024 09:23

I'm in Derbyshire.

They look like good lines @Plumchumm

I'm already starting to feel nauseous which doesn't bode well since I'm only 4+3. I had awful sickness in my last two pregnancies

Snugget · 30/10/2024 09:58

Morning all 👋🏻

I am feeling super anxious today, all symptoms seemed to have disappeared and I feel completely back to normal. I keep trying to tell myself that worrying won't help but I am struggling to do anything but 😢

How are you today @Plumchumm?

Plumchumm · 30/10/2024 10:36

@Snugget my symptoms come and go constantly too. I also get worried when I wake up feeling okay, but when I do a test it’s showing progression. Maybe that will reassure you a bit to see that? My breasts particularly sore one day and not the next. It’s like it comes in waves

i am feeling okay today, and thankfully spotting has stopped for now. Fingers crossed it keeps going this way 🤞🏻

Snugget · 30/10/2024 11:18

@Plumchumm it is so strange how they can just disappear isn't it. A couple of days ago it hurt my boobs just to walk down the stairs, today I have been running around playing basketball and I felt nothing. Well I felt out of breath but that is normal for me 🙈

I'm pleased you are feeling ok and that is good about the spotting stopping!

I was thinking of grabbing a clearblue digital with the weeks indicator, hopefully I get a 3+ and like you it is just the symptoms coming in waves 🤞🏻🤞🏻

MaSads · 30/10/2024 12:11

@Plumchumm Glad to hear your spotting has stopped and your tests look just like mine with the dye stealer, congrats!

@Snugget Try not to worry, the symptoms do come and go. I tell myself it's my body adjusting to the hcg increase and then when it increases again is probably when my symptoms are back. Not sure how scientifically accurate that is but makes me relax a bit!

Plumchumm · 30/10/2024 12:34

Thank you @MaSads you’ve been so helpful 🥺

Snugget · 30/10/2024 12:44

@MaSads thank you, that is a good way to look at it!

Eurgh so today (5w2d) I did my second clear blue digital test and it's still on 1-2 weeks (my previous pregnancies have been on 2-3 or even 3+ by now). Combined with not feeling as nauseous as I have with my two successful pregnancies, I'm wondering whether this bub might not be a keeper... Has anyone else ever had this situation and still gone on to have a successful pregnancy? Obviously 'what will be will be', but nice to hear some positive stories whilst I await my fate 😄

Aw sorry to hear you’re worried. Do you think it could be you ovulated late? I ovulate around day 22, so actually am probably more than a week behind my official 6 weeks…

ThePodParent · 30/10/2024 14:05

@EalingLucy Thanks for the reply! Re ovulation dates: alas not - I know exactly when I ovulated (23 days ago)... maybe it's just very laid back and cba with making much hcg... 🤷🏻‍♀️ It does feel a bit like when I miscarried before though, so slightly expecting the worst this time around.

I don't have any stories either way I'm afraid but keeping everything crossed you have a positive outcome 🤞🏻🤞🏻

It can take 10 days to implant, so that would be 13 days? As I think hcg only rises when it’s implanted? I could be wrong tho. Do check. Crossing my fingers for you! It’s always hard when you’ve had a loss not to worry :(

Superscientist · 30/10/2024 17:04

@ThePodParent if you look at normal HCG during the first few weeks there is a huge range and overlap.

4 weeks pregnant - 10 to 700
5 weeks pregnant - 200-8000

Detection limit for 1 week is 10, 2-3 weeks is 153 and 3+ is 2700.

So if you levels are between 10 and 152 you will show 1 week. The upper limit is only just off the bottom of the 5 weeks range and there is quite a bit of variation in the HCG levels urine depending on hydration.

Really tests should only be used qualitatively pregnant or not pregnant.

Absolute HCG values are less important than how they change over 48h.

Plumchumm · 30/10/2024 17:06

Light brown discharge is back again. :( might call the pregnancy support unit tomorrow to see what they say and maybe get hcg checked. They looked after me when I had my ectopic in March, and said if there’s any worries in future pregnancies to call them.

Superscientist · 30/10/2024 17:53

I hope they are able to offer some support. @Plumchumm x

owlcat24 · 30/10/2024 18:05

@Plumchumm I hope you get some reassurance ❤️ I had some red spotting at around 14DPO followed by brown spotting for another 2-3 days. Sort of stopping and starting. Stopped completely now but I still check frantically (TMI: I have a lot of discharge in pregnancy and every time I feel a little wet I panic that it's going to be blood again. Like 10 times a day 😬) So I totally get your worries! Fingers crossed everything is as it should be. I will be booking an early scan (private) at 7 weeks.

ThePodParent · 30/10/2024 18:17

Thanks so much @Superscientist and @EalingLucy. I do feel a bit calmer about it this evening and less like 'oh dear... I guess that's me out this time 😔'. What will be, will be!

I had a bleed followed by 5 days of pink/red spotting but it seems to have stopped 🤞🏻 & my tests are very strong so hoping alls ok, having a scan next week. EPU advised that it can be totally normal to have spotting and I’m sure you know brown is old blood so hopefully it stops for you. I would definitely give EPU a call. X

How are we all feeling ladies? I have to be honest - I'm struggling with anxiety myself after a MMC last time. I know all the stats and that it's more likely I'd know if something was wrong but still... have a lovely therapist who I'm thankfully talking to today. Have also skipped testing this morning as checking the line progression was sending me a bit mad. Have one last FRER which I'll do tomorrow or Saturday when there should hopefully be a clearer difference and then I'm done with them 🫠

ThePodParent · 31/10/2024 07:50

So the cheeky monkey has gone up to 2-3 weeks today... not sure I feel 'out of the woods' yet as I don't feel v pregnant and I'm sure I was 3+ by now in previous pregnancies, but good to know that my little tadpole-shaped baby is still doing its thing in some way.

Gah, I was so like 'I'm just going to relax and enjoy this pregnancy, as it's likely my last'... totally forgot this first few weeks 😅
