Spending the day in bed today. The nausea is getting worse. It's constant but no actual puking yet. Was like this with last pregnancy. About four months of constant nausea and only two weeks of puking. Think I'll ring the Dr to see if they can prescribe something. Had cyclizine last time, when I'd started puking it but if anything I got worse with that. :-(

I'd go to the drs and ask about meds. There's others if cyclizine wasn't great last time. Debilitating nausea is bad enough, no need to wait for the sickness x

Same this is me everyday at the moment, I literally can’t ever get out of bed I feel so sick 24/7. Feel Sick when I don’t eat and feel sick when I do eat! Think I’ll ring doctors Monday to see if they can give me anything. I’d rather be throwing up than just feeling sick all the time it’s so horrible. Living off plain beige bland foods and even then I’m struggling! Praying this doesn’t last long as it’s hell!

I actually had way more symptoms with my first pregnancy, trying not to look into too much as symptoms aren’t a reliable indicator!

I know it’s hard but try to stay positive! You have no reason to think it’s all over x

It’s just mad isn’t it — hormones are all over the place. I’ve been away this weekend in Cambridge with Mr. GCS and I think being away has caused me to think somethings gone wrong as I’m kinda out of the pregnancy world and bubble. I had zero symptoms yesterday but today had some nausea earlier and really hungry again so I’m hoping that’s a good thing. Walked 10k today and my backs killing so now stressing I’ve over done it. Basically I’m just a pathetic anxious mess atm!

did I read you’re 37? I feel like the 35+ club adds another layer on. I don’t know why I think because we’re classed as geriatric it makes you feel funny. Thanks for your positivity. I need to just snap out of it 🙈 x

I would be 7 + 2 rather than 8+6 or thereabouts

I probably feel as strong as I did before having my daughter so we will see. She had severe silent reflux and multiple food allergies that were recognised until she was 17 weeks and the first few months were utter hell and it definitely had an impact on my mood! We would handle that differently if we experienced the same again. I had some counselling with my HV before TTC again and that helped process what happened last time.

It's good you have someone to talk to. I've recently rekindled a friendship from school. We both had a hard time with our mental health. She's in a similar place too she has a son via IVF and had a miscarriage beforehand. Whilst I've not had IVF there has been some symmetry in my journey with having to change meds and getting the green light from drs etc.

Ah okay not a million miles off. And they do say 5 days +/- is normal from a measurement pov too.

Thats good you feel stronger than before — it’s good the post natal hasn’t affected how you feel mentally. Thats a good level playing field to start from. You know so much the second time round and I think that’s invaluable. I’m sure I’m going to learn the slow and painful way hopefully in July, I’m sure my anxiety will ramp up a notch!

That’s lovely that you’ve got back in touch with an old friend. Sometimes new friendships can be the strongest ones as you know yourself more. So an old rekindled one is essentially the same. That’s lovely she’s an IVF success story. I do love hearing them as it restores the faith. Sorry to hear of her mc before. It’s nice you’re in a similar mental place too. It certainly helps.

Hope you’ve had a nice weekend in Cambridge! I completely get you, when I’ve had a busy day and forgot about the pregnancy I always feel guilty and more anxious too.

Don't worry about walking too much! Walking is great for you!! And no I’m 24 x

CadoAvo · 30/11/2024 18:21

Thought I'd share this with you all. We have our 2 close friends round for our Friends Christmas (early as one is leaving for Australia for 2 months) and surprised them with this. Still early at 8.5 weeks but we wanted to tell them.

Shame I won't be able to enjoy it due to my nausea and complete aversion to all sweet things 😂

@MaSads its funny what you tell yourself in your head isn’t it? I was adamant it wouldn’t be a successful scan on Tuesday so I was shocked. I think I have PTSD from scans at my ivf clinic, as I don’t have the same level of stress before the private one I’ve had. I’m so pleased all was okay and hopefully a sigh of relief. When is your next or are you waiting until 12 now?

sounds like babes right on track which is so reassuring. Have you told anyone yet or are you keeping it under wrapped until Christmas?

interesting on the progesterone side effects — were they pills or pessaries? I’m on 3 x pessaries and an injection a day. The only side effects I’ve had is bloating and trumping 😂😂 no dignity here.

do something nice for yourself — go for a walk maybe? Being outdoors really helps mindset I think. Personally anyway. I’m okay thanks — away this weekend to Cambridge so I’m hoping that’ll take my mind off obsessing!!

@GCS34 Sorry late reply I missed this completely! Aww it does sound like it was traumatic for you with ivf scans! My next scan is a private one on 9th December, where I should be 10 weeks 5 days and then my nhs one is 20th December, when is your next one?. We have told parents and a few friends, but not told our daughter or siblings or other family yet. Getting a bit tricky to hide, my daughter just told me I'm looking a bit fat like santa and I had to tell her it was because of mince pies haha! Have you told anyone?
They were pessaries, gave me local irritation which was very much not fun and stomach pain! I'm glad you're not having too many side effects from yours.

Hope you're having a good and distracting time in Cambridge, I have been resting up and watching christmas films, and gone for a walk to clear my head - back to feeling happy again!

@CadoAvo Aww wow this is lovely! Haha shame you can't enjoy it, can you freeze a slice of it? Were you're friends happy for you?

I'll probably have a little nibble, I can't imagine I'll enjoy it when its frozen and defrosted later haha. We will give our friends a good chunk to take away tomorrow 😁

Scan this morning went well, saw the tiny flickering heartbeat and measured within 2 days of what I thought (measured 6+1 I thought I was 6+3)

My wife wlreally wants to tell her older children (my stepchildren) and her parents but I love it being our little secret

MrsS11 · 01/12/2024 07:12

@lovealways97 congratulations that's so lovely 😍 it's such a personal decision of when to tell people. I usually go for when it can't be hidden any more without people thinking I'm being excessively lazy 😅 it's pretty hard to hide over Christmas with food restrictions I find.

@MaSads ohhh nice not too long to go. I have one on Saturday (7th) where I’ll be 10weeks exactly. How did you get your 12 week scan date? Do they book that in at your first midwife appointment? I have mine Thursday so I am hoping they’ll give me the date then but I’m doubtful it’ll be pre Xmas as I will hopefully be 12 weeks on 21st!

haha children are great aren’t they! My niece said to my sister when she gave birth to my nephew “why do you still have a big tummy when the baby isn’t inside anymore”. Decorum hey! We have told parents and my best friend but not told wider friends and siblings yet. Waiting u til we hopefully get to 12 weeks.

oh yeah they can be sore!! They do make you gassy don’t they? I have to use them up the bum as I get irritation otherwise.

glad you’re feeling happy again. That’s good to hear 🥰 when was your last scan? I’m really scared and anxious again 😥 feel really scared. X

The scan went so well! Over the moon 🥰 little bean was measuring 10 weeks 1 day, it was wriggling its legs and waving its arms. So surreal!

Yes I've been falling asleep at 9 each night while watching TV, never ever had I fallen asleep on my sofa before.

Yes me, I'm exhausted! We went for a walk this morning and chilled at home then I looked at the time and saw that it was 12pm - I genuinely thought it must be after 3pm because I could have had a nap any moment.

Last night I fell asleep at 7pm.

Definitely don't remember this level of tiredness in my first pregnancy.

LifesABeachx · 01/12/2024 17:41

Hi everyone.
Hope everyone's Sunday is going well and you're all managing to relax!

looking for advice... I had a private scan this morning and measured at 7+3.
I thought I would be 8 weeks tomorrow & had a scan at EPU 2 weeks ago tomorrow (measured 6 weeks). Both scans there was a prominent heartbeat.

is this anything to worry about, should I phone my midwife tomorrow and ask for advice?
this scan really wasn't clear & I had one around the same point with DC1 and was miles clearer.

Hey @LifesABeachx so were you basing 8 weeks off of your scan at 6 weeks - is that correct? I know they say that a margin of error of +/- 5 days is totally normal and fine as they’re measuring something so small, so the variation in measurement, the position of baby, the machine they use, the sonographer etc, can alter the dates.

as you’re only 4 days off of what you thought i think that’s okay! Obviously I’m not an expert but I have read EVERYTHING under the sun on this based on myself and experiences and it seems okay and majority catch up by the next scan.

How was the scan — heart strong etc and measured right for 7+3?

LifesABeachx · 01/12/2024 19:44

Hi @GCS34 thanks for getting back to me!
I was going by 8 weeks tomorrow based on LMP and that seemed accurate at the earlier scan I had!
They said my dates seemed bang on.
I think the crown rump length was only 1.19cm so that's how they got the gestational age at 7+3 today.

They told me that today that it doesn't matter as much, I'll get the correct info at 12 weeks but it does have me worried.
The heartbeat was very prominent so that seemed positive. I have a tilted uterus so apparently that can cause some difficulty for ultrasounds? I didn't have this last time round, hopefully it will work out okay🤞🏼

Parks17 · 01/12/2024 19:52

Got my 3+ and I think that's now me done testing (she says...)
Think I'm 5+4
We have a private scan booked just before Christmas, I haven't heard from anyone after my self referral almost 2 weeks ago.
Thinking of calling them tomorrow, how long did everyone have to wait for their booking appointment?

Due July 2025
MiniMaisy · 01/12/2024 21:19

I have my first private scan on the 9th of Dec, I should be around 8wks2days.
my symptoms are very minimal, occasional mild cramping, and tiredness- I take a nap every afternoon. It was the same with my first pregnancy (7y ago, I have twins), and yet I am nervous and anxious if everything is ok. Did my HCG beta bloods last Monday the growth was as expected so it should be ok, but there are these thoughts at the back of my mind - what if ? 😳
we haven’t told anyone. I have my appointment with midwife on the 10th, then another appointment for some blood tests? Screenings on 27th and 12 wk scan on the 6th of Jan.
can’t wait for the bump and movements which will be clear indicators that the pregnancy is progressing..

MiniMaisy · 01/12/2024 21:22

I am thinking to tell my boss after my 12wk scan. It’ll be disaster. I hold a fairly senior position and it’ll be totally unexpected for everyone. I am 44 now and have boy girl twins so I have been proudly telling everyone we’re done. Which I genuinely thought we were. I am very happy though to, hopefully (😬) have a singleton pregnancy! Will be peaceful and chilled in comparison to the one 7y ago
