Is anyone else really struggling with severe breast pain?!
I can’t sleep at night because they are so painful and swollen when I lay on my side. Also what position are people sleeping in? I’ve heard laying on your back puts strain on the baby but not sure how true this is.
Any tips for breast pain or bra recommendations would be very much appreciated!!

YES my boobs are so so so sore. Earlier they felt a bit better but this evening whenever I move it feels like I'm carrying painful rocks on my chest!

SlimGin · 27/11/2024 06:19

I've been a bit MIA on the thread as nausea has started and I just don't have motivation to do anything! Really hoping this won't last long.
I'm not actually being sick just nausea all day like a hangover.
I'm thinking of telling my manager before the Christmas holidays as by the time I see her after that I will be at least 13 weeks. I also would hate for her to find out from someone else and I'd like the freedom to talk about it openly over Christmas with family and friends. So we are hoping for a private scan around 9 weeks and will maybe tell her after that.

My phone won't let me tag 2 people af once but congratulations CadoAvo and TTCirish on your scans! And to everyone else with good news

I am 9 weeks tomorrow. Been feeling very emotional and cried over random things - feel the most pregnant I have so far! Also very strong cravings for onion vinegar from the chippy! And then the rest of the time feeling like I have the worst hangover and can't eat or get up haha! Tell me I'm not alone, I cannot wait for this first trimester to be done and I start feeling better again

Thank you ♥️ totally get the constant hangover!! And the mood swings!

I was off sick last week because of the bleeding to give myself time to rest. Yesterday was my first day back in the office and I fell asleep at 7:30pm last night - the exhaustion is probably my strongest symptom!

Spotting is getting heavier and i'm not sure when I decide to go to the EPU or just to wait for private scan on Saturday.

I would go to EPU today, Saturday is still almost 4 days away. Really hope all is OK

lovealways97 · 27/11/2024 09:05

I can't believe I need new bras already, I've gone up by 2 cup sizes and I'm only 6 weeks!!

Everything I look at for maternity bras seem to have the nursing clips, but I daren't even imagine how big they'll be by the time I'm nursing!

Babydreamer123 · 27/11/2024 09:23

@rivierliedje have you had a scan so far in this pregnancy? How far along are you and how heavy is the spotting?

I had a scan at 7w1d and foetus was measuring 6w6d with a good heartbeat then. Now 9w0d.
I had occasional bit of dark blood when whiping, tiny spots. Happened once a week or so. Since this morning it's dark blood on whiping every time. Not on knickers yet though. No bright blood

I'm in the exact same boat, was sick for the first time yesterday but it's the all day nausea that is getting to me. Hope it ends for you seen, I went for a private scan on Sunday and she said it tends to stop for most women around 11 weeks so I'm really hoping I fall into that category.

Definitely call the epu. They will only send you to the epu if they see an issue and then it's going to be more like Monday that you get seen

I finally went to the doctors today. She was lovely and said she had an unexpected pregnancy at 41 (which ended up being twins, gulp). She said all went really well. She's perscribed me some anti sickness medication which I've just been to collect. She also sent me a link for a self referral for the midwife. I've just filled in the form. Does anyone know what happens next? She hinted I probably should of self referred sooner than nearly 8 weeks....

CadoAvo · 27/11/2024 14:44

For those that have been suffering with colds, how have you been getting through them? I'm absolutely loaded with one now and feel so miserable. Can't breathe and can't use my usual go to sudefed nasal spray 😭

Depends where you are in the country. Some places will call you to book in your first appointment, others you have to call them to arrange it. It should say on the trust website somewhere!

@CadoAvo Saline nasal spray works great! I'd recommend this and also I'm a huge fan of the calpol plug in diffuser thing. Hope you feel better soon

I contacted a private clinic when I had spotting and they said I needed to be seen by EPU x

SlimGin · 27/11/2024 16:46

@LifeonMarss oh god not sure I'm up for another 5 weeks of nausea, especially when I'm trying to keep it a secret at work at the moment! Better than the full 40 weeks though I suppose...

LittleOatcake · 27/11/2024 17:35

I am due July 9th according to my calculations, so I'm 8 weeks. My symptoms have been mild nausea, starving hungry, emotional as hell, and quite bad cramping, so much so I had a scan at 6 weeks. They estimated it was more like 5 wks 3 or 4 at this point, and I saw a little heartbeat. Made it all feel real. This is my first pregnancy and I have been quite anxious about what I'm feeling in general. I have told a few friends who have had children so that's been good to offload.

LifesABeachx · 26/11/2024 12:13

@HA22 My hands constantly feel like blocks of ice. I can't keep a heat about me at all.

I thought it was just with the change in weather but maybe it's hormones as others have it too.

I'm also constantly cold!!

CatmumTTC · 27/11/2024 18:24

@CadoAvo I've just gotten through a horrendous cold with a sore throat. Did a lot of salt water gargling and also used a neti pot at night to help unblock my sinuses before bed. Plus lots of ginger tea with honey. And lots of rest, definitely took longer to get over than usual though.

I suffered with one last week. Just had paracetamol when desperate & used the kool & soothe forehead strips for the headache.

It's on my chest now and the gp won't let me have antibiotics because of the pregnancy 🤦🏼‍♀️

Hope everyone is well.

I'm 9 weeks now, 10 weeks Friday going off baby's measurements at the private scan.

Had a bleed this weekend but all is ok thank goodness!

I am 44 now and yesterday I panicked and thought omg, what are we going to do!

Hoppityhophops · 27/11/2024 19:06

@minimaisy we got this 💪 congrats on your "geriatric pregnancy". Yes apparently we are geriatric after 35 in pregnancy terms.

I have @Frenchtoastie and after severe hyperemesis in my first pregnancy, I’ve been taking cyclizine from the day of my positive test this time to try and stop it getting so bad. I’m now also taking prochlorperazine as well as the nausea was worsening.

In my first pregnancy I took cyclizine and prochlorperazine from about 6 weeks until I gave birth, and ondansetron from 12 weeks until I gave birth. My little one is 2 now and doing great! I hope that might provide some reassurance. Pregnancy Sickness Support and BUMPs have further info about medications during pregnancy.
