Is anyone else really struggling with severe breast pain?!
I can’t sleep at night because they are so painful and swollen when I lay on my side. Also what position are people sleeping in? I’ve heard laying on your back puts strain on the baby but not sure how true this is.
Any tips for breast pain or bra recommendations would be very much appreciated!!

Babydreamer123 · 26/11/2024 10:06

@Thetravellover I don't think you need to worry about not sleeping on your back yet. I'm pretty sure that's much further along that it's advised to not sleep on your back. Baby is still so tiny. So if it's more comfortable on your back then sleep like that

Superscientist · 26/11/2024 10:18

@Thetravellover I think it's 26 weeks onwards that you can't lie on your back.
I lie on my front and with my daughter I did this well into 30 odd weeks with a slight twist in my hips to accommodate the bump!

Lie however is comfortable now.

Hi everyone, hope you’re all doing well and coping with the symptoms ramping up!
Just wondering if it’s worth getting early scans if no other symptoms like bleeding? Our scan feels light years away in January?!
Thank!

We will do an early private scan at 9+ weeks before Xmas. In my home country and many others, the first scan is at 8 weeks so I didn't want to wait till 12 weeks and end of trimester to know what is going on in there. It does feel weird to have no medical support or information about the foetus until the end of the most important period of development. Can't help but think if men for pregnant there's be official scans every month! All I care about is confirming there's a heartbeat, it's in the right place and measuring as it should which the early scan will tell me. Then just a few weeks to wait till my official NHS scan.

CadoAvo · 26/11/2024 11:43

Had my EPU scan today. LMP puts me at 8+0, baby is measuring 7+6, looking good with a wee heartbeat 💓 🥰

This is my third pregnancy and first time seeing a heartbeat so I'm super happy 🥰

LifeonMarss · 26/11/2024 11:51

Feeling mega nauseas again and had to take the day off work as I'm actually being sick now and struggling to eat, going to see how I am tomorrow then ring the GP to see what they can give me. Also thinking about handing in my notice at work, it's a tough school and I'm in a very tough class behaviour wise and it's starting to take it's toll, fortunately we'd be able to cope finically. Just think this job stress is the last thing I need atm

LifesABeachx · 26/11/2024 12:13

@HA22 My hands constantly feel like blocks of ice. I can't keep a heat about me at all.

I thought it was just with the change in weather but maybe it's hormones as others have it too.

LifesABeachx · 26/11/2024 12:20

What is everyone's go to food items (if they can manage it) or drinks?

I was absolutely fine and craving burgers all the time. Now I can barley stomach simple things like toast.
strawberry pencil sweets are helping my nausea here and there!

BroomAdventures · 26/11/2024 12:30

@LifesABeachx Original Lucozade really helps my nausea which is weird because usually I’d never touch it lol. I also find fruit especially grapes and pineapple easy to eat. I don’t really want ‘proper’ food lol

ALBXO · 26/11/2024 12:34

I feel like I haven’t eaten proper food in weeks! Living on toast, biscuits, and orange lucozade! X

Julilie93 · 26/11/2024 13:08

@HA22 yes I'm cold all the time, and it was the same when I was pregnant with DS. Normally heating on 19.5 but now having to turn it up to 20.5.. Although I when I'm in bed I start feeling too hot quickly, especially as soon as my partner joins me (usually in bed way before him these days 😴) it feels boiling hot, I don't even enjoy cuddling anymore as it's so uncomfortable!

Superscientist · 26/11/2024 13:15

@CadoAvo I'm so pleased for you! Hopefully this little bean sticks!

I'm living off toast at the moment alternating between Bovril and chocolate spread for salty flavours the sweet. I've been able to tolerate fluids better with the meds today but still really nauseous if I move. I'm on ginger ale at the moment. Last time I found smoothies more helpful as they were thicker and easier to stomach.
With my daughter I lived off tinned peaches and with my miscarriage it was celery and cherry tomatoes. You just have to play around and work out what works for you

NamechangeTTC · 26/11/2024 14:54

Congratulations @CadoAvo

MaSads · 26/11/2024 15:56

My phone won't let me tag 2 people af once but congratulations CadoAvo and TTCirish on your scans! And to everyone else with good news

I am 9 weeks tomorrow. Been feeling very emotional and cried over random things - feel the most pregnant I have so far! Also very strong cravings for onion vinegar from the chippy! And then the rest of the time feeling like I have the worst hangover and can't eat or get up haha! Tell me I'm not alone, I cannot wait for this first trimester to be done and I start feeling better again

Superscientist · 26/11/2024 15:58

@MaSads I really want a pudding chips and gravy from the chippy but struggling with toast so probably overly optimistic! Haha!

MaSads · 26/11/2024 16:00

@Superscientist Hahah you just know as well don't you that you'd get it home take one bite and want to be sick! These hormones are crazy

Superscientist · 26/11/2024 16:01

@MaSads absolutely!

CadoAvo · 26/11/2024 16:08

Thanks all. I'm now full of the cold as well which I'm raging about, hope it goes away quickly.

Food wise I'm eating a lot of ritz crackers with butter and cheddar haha. Crisps, either ready salted or cheese and onion. Buttered toast. And drinking a lot of full fat coke as it helps the nausea and been enjoying fresh orange juice too. Not the greatest diet but it is what it is 😆

At my scan they told me my 12w scan will likely be 30th/31st Dec so gonna book a private scan before Christmas I think.

Desperatelyboredhousewife · 26/11/2024 16:27

When are people thinking of telling friends and family? Last time we waited until after our first scan but I'm thinking of telling my mum, sister and two best friends (absolutely people we would confide in if things didn't go well) around the 8 week mark this time, as I'll be seeing them and I can't be bothered with the hiding it/pretending to drink a glass of prosecco and chucking it in a plant pot!

So pleased to see this update, thrilled for you.

Our early scan has been moved forward from Tuesday to Saturday, we are both so excited and nervous!

lovealways97 · 26/11/2024 16:46

I'm eating everything in sight 🙈 I wish some nausea would kick in to stop me eating so much!

No in all seriousness I know I am really lucky, I hope the sickness stays away

LifesABeachx · 26/11/2024 18:26

@BroomAdventures That was my favourite during ny last pregnancy whenever I was low on energy.
This time it seems to be lucozade sport that I'm in the mood for!

Ive went off Tea and plain water. Even the thought of it churns my stomach 🤣

I've heard protein is good for nausea so I'm trying to have that throughout the day, a handful of nuts, a fried egg, some cooked salmon. But mostly I just want to eat fruit. I'm eating so many oranges and blueberries!

I know it's personal choice but we've told loads of people and I'm only 6 weeks! Basically when I see a friend in person I tell them because it's occupying a lot of my brain space at the moment. So we've told a few good friends, a few work colleagues and both sets of parents. I just make it really clear that it's early so might not work out. I've already had a miscarriage where nobody knew and to be honest that felt worse. Felt like it wasn't real because nobody knew and that made it harder to process. If my friends and family know then it's less isolating either way and I don't have to pretend if I'm knackered and not up for socialising!
