@HighSir I am very upset about having to cancel my scan today, next Tuesday can't come quick enough as long as I can shake this cold. I might try travel sickness wristbands as between the cold and the nausea, I am barely eating which can't be good. Have you told the epu you are spotting again? I hope your scan goes well on Friday x

@MaSads im sorry about your scan and feeling unwell, early pregnancy is rough enough without additional illnesses. Just wanted to offer some reassurance though - I went literally weeks barely able to keep anything down at all in my first pregnancy. I mean literally, I was so sick I had to be rehydrated through a drip because I couldn’t even drink water without being sick. I was so worried the lack of food would be bad for baby, but she is absolutely fine and is almost two now. They’re so small at the moment they can take what they need from you. Hopefully you are better soon, but just wanted to say not to worry too much about this!

CatmumTTC · 13/11/2024 15:09

I'm also very ill today, really swollen throat and body aches. Worried about impact to baby. I know I just need to rest but I keep googling infections that can lead to miscarriage 🙈 I seem to catch every illness, so frustrating!

@Nomnomnew Thank you that is really reassuring! I didn't suffer this badly with my daughter, even when I felt sick I was fine if I ate and only sick once the entire pregnancy - this time is the complete opposite, every single thing is making me queasy and I'm only managing to keep down dry food and sips of water. My husband has gone to the shop for ginger tea and sickness wristbands- if you have any tips let me know! Sorry to hear you had such a rough time, hopefully it won't be as severe for you this time round x

@MaSads :: my miscarriages were both before 4 weeks so fingers crossed this is a sticky bean 🤞

HighSir · 13/11/2024 16:18

@MaSads the EPU told me only to contact if the bleeding becomes severe again. I shall see what they say on Friday. I'm hoping the ginger tea helps you with the sickness. I found the oaties ginger biscuits helped in my last pregnancy, they're gluten free which I think made a difference as not too harsh/heavy on the tummy.

Nomnomnew · 13/11/2024 16:20

@MaSads oh no, that sounds rough. You don’t have to put up with it if it’s really awful though, there are medications available that can help so do talk to your GP about how bad it is if it’s unmanageable. I’m anxiously waiting for it to kick in for me and while I don’t want to be so ill again, the absence of sickness at the moment is very unsettling! 😔

Thank you, I will have a look at those. Ginger tea seems to be helping this evening so I will persevere with that for now! Let me know how it goes on Friday, is it in the morning? X

@Nomnomnew Ginger tea seems to be helping for now thankfully, I think im going to live on it at this rate 😅 I will talk to my gp if it continues though definitely. How many weeks are you? X

Plumchumm · 13/11/2024 23:41

Nice to hear the updates from everyone.

Is anyone else hot and then cold randomly all the time? For a few days I had so many hot flashes I actually slept with the window open. And then the past few days chilled to the bone, shivery even when I’m warm. It’s like up and down constantly. If I add slightly one layer too many then I’m boiling.

Hiii, so I've recently found out that im pregnant, I'm roughly 4 weeks 1 day. This is a test that I took this morning, do yous think it looks okay ? I'm so anxious due to 2 recent miscarriages.

I think that line looks good! Congrats I am also 4 weeks 1 day today and feeling nervous as well due to a recent miscarriage. I called the pregnancy unit yesterday and was given a date for my 12 week scan on the 13/1. It feels like ages away, are you booking an early private scan? X

TrulyMiss · 14/11/2024 11:03

@Plumchumm I have this too! Didn't realise I was freezing all the time until my dad and my husband starting giving out about the house being like a sauna Grin Then at night I can overheat so easily, yay night sweats!!

Cookies123 · 14/11/2024 13:24

@Moomoo20 I was going to book a early private scan but I phone EPAU and explained to them that I've had a few miscarriages and if there was anything they could do to give me reassurance and they booked me in for a scan at 8 weeks x

Yes I heard if you have had 2 or more MC the NHS will scan you early.I have had one so I'll probably go down the private route. It will give us peace of mind hopefully x

Triangleflower · 14/11/2024 15:08

Hello everyone, has anyone booked a private scan in London and if so do you recommend anywhere? I’d rather pay a bit more and have a bit more info or time rather than the cheapest option, but don’t really know where to start!

I’d like to get one at 7 weeks which I think stands a good chance of seeing heartbeat even if I’m a bit out with dates? Seems a long time away though! First week of December

CadoAvo · 14/11/2024 15:36

I've really been struggling with all day nausea. The only time I get a break from it is when I'm asleep and I'm now on my third day off work as can't cope with it. I haven't actually been sick though. I permanently feel full and sicky. I can still eat and drink although completely gone off anything sweet and currently living off crackers and babybels. I've just been prescribed prochlorperazine and taken my first dose, anyone have any experience with this? Really hoping the nausea will go away as it's really getting me down.

Sounds awful @CadoAvo. Hopefully the prochlorperazine will help. I found that one pretty helpful once the worst of the nausea had gone for me but it does make you quite drowsy. You can get others in combination or instead if it doesn’t work so do go back to your GP if it doesn’t improve things for you.

Thank you, that's good to know. I'll take the drowsiness over the nausea if I have to.
My GP only gave me 16 tablets and the box says 1-2 a day, so worst case scenario it's only a weeks supply which is annoying. She also said "if it doesn't work then speak to your midwife" which didn't sound quite right however this was a telephone appointment at 9am and didn't have it in me to question that. I'll see how I get on!

Urgh it’s so frustrating when it feels like they are fobbing you off. Pregnancy Sickness Support are great and can talk you through the options or send you info on what’s available to help you challenge useless GPs https://pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

unfortunately far too many medical professionals lack understanding of how debilitating severe nausea/ vomiting can be and you do have to go into battle a bit.

@Moomoo20 I have only have had 1 miscarriage and I'm getting a scan with the NHS. It might be worth a call

@CadoAvo I had prochlorpreazine in my last pregnancy, mine was prescribed up to 3 times a day. I'd give it a couple of days and then try to get a face to face gp appointment to make sure you are getting the right advice. I think sometimes you get a better response when they can see you looking like hell. I had a face to face for my first appointment and got cyclizine. The GP said I was giving her flash backs to her own pregnancy sickness. The cyclizine didn't help that much and I ended up in a and E after a fall because of not keeping enough food down. I missed the GP slots by the time I got a call from thr pharmacist and they seemed less understanding. I usually sound better than I looked and I felt like I was making a fuss. The prochlorpreazine was sort of helpful but not life-changing. I have some left and have taken them on bad days in this pregnancy and it has helped.

PeachyTea99 · 14/11/2024 21:16

Hi everyone, I got my BFP on the 2nd November following a missed miscarriage just over a month before. Certainly wasn't expecting to be pregnant again so soon, but hoping this little bean sticks 🤞. I've also had terrible morning sickness and am now on some anti sickness meds so hoping they help! Wishing everyone the best of luck in their pregnancies!

SlimGin · 15/11/2024 06:56

Congrats on your BFP @PeachyTea99 🎉

Is anyone getting any dizziness? I got up this morning and felt dizzy like I'd had 2 bottles of wine last night!

LifeonMarss · 15/11/2024 07:11

Feeling really discouraged as still can’t get hold of the midwife to book in for an 8 week scan. I’ve rang 5 times, last Friday they said she was busy and will ring me back on Monday which she didn’t and every time I ring now there’s no answer. It’s making me question whether I want to use them at all tbh or go elsewhere. On the bright side I got my 3+ on a clear blue test, I know they’re not always reliable but it’s reassured me baby is growing whilst I wait to hear about an appointment.
also has to tell someone at work I was pregnant because she saw a message pop up from my dh when we were looking at my phone saying “has the midwife answered yet”

butterfly1511 · 15/11/2024 07:17

I had my early scan yesterday, and baby was measuring spot on with my dates and had a lovely heartbeat. 7 weeks today ❤️
