We have told a couple of our closest friends and that's it so far. We are hopefully going to wait until 12 weeks to tell family as it ties in nicely with Christmas, plus having had previous miscarriages means I want them to be able to be excited and not just go "aw that's nice, hopefully it works out this time" 😅

That sounds really difficult to sit with 😔. The 12 week wait is so long, isn't it?

In my naive head, as soon as I was pregnant, everything would be okay. We were undergoing fertility treatment, and waiting for our IVF round to come up. I didn't realise the trimester would be so anxiety provoking!

What's everyone doing for self care? X

It's soooooo long. Time doesn't drag like this when you're not pregnant haha.

Self care wise - keeping busy, watching Netflix and giving myself time to relax. A bit of meditation and mindfulness. My number 1 thing this time is to limit the googling and remain optimistic.

17nic · 07/11/2024 09:20

I'm having the same struggle, I'm 4+6 today and I'm finding it very difficult to be optimistic. It's taken us 18 months to get to this point and we were due to start ivf mid December so this positive test was such a shock! I've been testing every day since friday (probably not the best idea but I can't help it!) and I think I got a dye stealer this morning. Hope everyone is feeling good today 🤞

Superscientist · 07/11/2024 09:28

I avoid telling my parents for as long as possible! I was nearly 17 weeks last time! We told my mil after the dating scan at 13 weeks.

Colouring, duolingo and trashy American teen dramas are my self care at the moment. I had got back into running over the last few months. Just once a week and for 3-5km, I hoping to keep it up this time, I didn't when I was expecting my daughter because of nausea, vomiting and fatigue.

Lavenderrose92 · 07/11/2024 09:32

just had a early scan at 5 weeks and no uterine pregnancy seen.
pregnancy tests are becoming weaker so i think it’s a chemical.
Have to go back monday to have another scan and blood tests.
good luck to everyone and sending love to you all ❤️

Nomnomnew · 07/11/2024 09:53

Oh no @Lavenderrose92 I’m so sorry to hear that. Take care of yourself and all best wishes

After the heavy bleeding, clots and passing tissue I am so confused. I'm currently on a roller coaster of emotions, had a scan at EPU this morning, they found the sac and fetal pole, currently no heart beat but that's expected at 5w5d. Going back next Friday for another scan. Midwife told me I'm exactly where I should be at this stage of pregnancy, she is unsure why I had excessive bleeding and continuing to bleed, the sonographer couldn't see any blood sound the sac. After walking into the hospital very deflated I have left with a glimmer of hope ✨.

Superscientist · 07/11/2024 13:11

Oh @HighSir that's promising! Fingers crossed for you x

@Lavenderrose92 I'm so sorry, look after yourself ✨️

@HighSir 🤞for you, hopefully things improve

CosyPlumViewer · 07/11/2024 16:31

Congratulations everyone! I’m 5weeks 2 days, had a scan today but they couldn’t see anything (potential small gestational sack) & slight amount of fluid on my pelvis! First pregnancy so worried this isn’t normal but know it’s still early so trying to stay positive 🙌🏽🤍

Superscientist · 07/11/2024 16:56

It's so early at 5 weeks a few days can make a huge difference in what is visible. Where did you have the scan?

My midwife called today and has booked my booking appointment in 2 weeks time. I felt paranoid by my lack of nausea the last few days at lunchtime but if course then spent half the afternoon being sick. I've told my line manager and he was supportive. The midwife had emailed me my maternity exception certificate and encouraged me to reach out to the EPU. I'll try to do that on Monday as I'll be 6 weeks then.

That's awesome that you have a dye stealer! I'm also finding it difficult, every day is a bit of a drag. I feel guilty as I feel I should be enjoying this time. But, I'm equally really excited and allowing myself to feel that excitement 😊.

I also think we're both due on the same day! July the 11th?

I'm so sorry to read of people's difficulties at the moment x

narwhalsarereal · 07/11/2024 19:34

I'm 6w2d today. Had some really awful cramping but seen the gp today & he isn't concerned, said it's most likely normal & there's no bleeding.

Got my 12 week scan date today, 17th December & I've hit a private one next weekend so I'm looking forward to that

How long has your cramping gone on for?
im 4 weeks I have awful cramping it’s soo painful :( glad to hear other people have the same!!

Hampshiremummy2 · 07/11/2024 19:56

I've had period type cramps on and off for the last week and I'm now 5wks
Not had any spotting or bleeding so for now assuming it's a normal sign, but it's not a lot of fun tbh!

Hi all, hope it’s ok for me to join you all.

What a rollercoaster week I’ve had! Went for a 6 week scan at EPU on Monday and they could only see a gestational sac, but it was empty. No yolk and no fetal pole. They tested my hcg which was 29,000 so they were really concerned it was empty at that level. They did another hcg test on Wednesday and it only increased by 27% in 48 hours, so they didn’t give me much hope. I’ve had two miscarriages this year so I’ve been worried sick all week!

Anyway fast forward to this morning, I decided to go for a private scan for a second opinion and what a suprise! They saw a heartbeat!! Everything looks great and measuring 6 weeks and 4 days. I am so relieved

narwhalsarereal · 07/11/2024 19:59

@Frenchtoastie is been on and off since about 4 weeks but this week is particularly bad

I'm so happy you managed to see the heartbeat today. This pregnancy malarkey is tough going even at these early stages. X

Thank you! I am so relieved too, after such a worrying week I’ve had. You’re right that pregnancy is hard even at the early stages, I’m just trying to focus on appreciating every second x

6 weeks 1 day today, currently laying in bed, unable to sleep, feeling horrendously sick after a few days with no sickness.

How is everyone else doing?

@HighSir Great news, that's exciting! Did they say if perhaps the bleeding is from your cervix maybe or is it a mystery? My scan at 5 weeks 4 days Tuesday showed gestational sac and yolk sac but no fetal pole yet, I'm planning another scan privately next week in the hope of seeing some progress. Keeping everything crossed for you
