Long time no speak everyone! (I actually hadn’t realised this was still active until I realised I missed it and checked)

Baby Indie is now 9 weeks old, she’s definitely a baby who loves to be held all the time, but we just carry her all the time, usually in the sling. However she is getting better and sleeps in her cot during the day and will spend half an hour in her bouncer.

Were still co sleeping at night and she’s still feeding every 2/3 hours but by night I just flop a boob out and go back to sleep and she settled really well.

Indie finally has her jabs tomorrow, so we can see how much she weighs too. She is still following the 25th centile for weight so very happy as we’ve been EBF all this time and she’s gaining so well. Very big contrast to my eldest.

She’s a smiley happy girl and the last week or so have been so much easier breastfeeding wise, shes very settled between feeds and will let others hold her.

Hope everyone is well! Pic of my happy girl

Ah what a fab little girl, she looks so alert! Good luck with jabs tomorrow 😀

sorchanim · 05/11/2024 16:07

@kc92 You might have been right about the growth, she's been much better the last few days. It's so hard not to blame myself/my body when I think she's not getting enough, so it's really reassuring to read that even with an oversupply your bub still wants you all the time. She was weighed today and is +230g (±8oz) over 8 days, so I'm happy with that!

TripleESept24 · 05/11/2024 18:13

@Emmaev ahhhh she looks so happy!!

@WinsandSam I just got a koala sling off vinted for £6!! £10 all in including postage!!

I had a bit of a struggle /breakdown this morning but then went out for a walk with Esme this afternoon! And have had a bit of a shop online the last few hours! Have done a big shein order for me for some winter clothes..... Ordered the sling off vinted and a hand knitted pram blanket and some under bed storage bags off Amazon 🤣 excited for parcels.....

Here's happy girly in her pram today!!! I'm gonna have to just go for walks more as she loves it in the pram!!

@Emmaev love her little outfit! What a cutie 🥰 we also have a baby who loves to be held all day for naps. I'm getting used to doing everything one handed, even chopping veg for dinner 😂

@TripleESept24 I hope you get on well with the sling, it's easy to use as you put it on like a vest. Sorry you had a breakdown today. I swear by a daily walk for my mental health. A bit of retail therapy is always good too. I do a lot of "window shopping" in the early hours when little Madame won't go back to sleep.

Today I popped Ruby in the high chair to do the dishwasher. She seemed to enjoy my singing 🤪

Awwww bless her!!! 🥺 Yes I'm gonna start walking alot more !! I have our first baby sensory class on Thursday too!! Has anyone done one yet? They can go from 6 weeks so I booked it for something to do and to meet other mum's!

Emmaev · 05/11/2024 20:10

@TripleESept24 @WinsandSam what beautiful girls!

It’s so crazy how fast they grow I feel like Indigo has had about 5/6 growth spurts. She’s just starting to go into 0-3 m now and I’m so sad. But different shops are different sizing so she’s still up to 1 month in some places. She’s also getting such rolls on her legs and hands. Our eldest never had a single roll so to see Inds with them is so sweet. She’s growing like a little weed 😍

I also swear by a walk, indigo is so settled when we walk around, I think she’s just starting to take a lot more in. When we’re at home she just knows and she’s feed, feed, feed specially the evenings. I always hope she’s filling herself up for the night but nah haha

Cute pics of your babies girls 😊

had our 6w check today. My stitches can’t be redone so she basically said I’ve to toughen it out 🤢🙈 Baby doing really well but I was warned again if the dangers of cosleeping. I pretended I wasn’t but now feel like the worst mam. It’s literally the only way I can get any sleep… but starting to feel like a failure cos she won’t allow me put her down. Have to sit under her all day too, so it’s not just night time. It’s so hard. Mams passing hitting me very hard lately too, can’t believe she’s not here any more. My kids are robbed of their nana and it’s so rubbish 😭💔

It’s important to be aware of the dangers of cosleeping of course but healthcare professionals really should stop bashing women over the head with it. There are risks, yes, but there are ways to make it safer.

I’m not sure if you know this, but Japan has one of the lowest SIDS rates in the world and one of the highest rates of cosleeping.

Also, taken from the lullaby trust website:
Of the SIDS deaths recorded between April 2019 and March 2021, 98% of the babies died when thought to be asleep, and 52% of those babies were co-sleeping with an adult or older sibling. 60% of the co-sleeping deaths were when co-sleeping had taken place unplanned and at least 92% were in hazardous circumstances. Examples of hazardous co-sleeping includes sleeping on a sofa with a baby, or co-sleeping with a baby who was born prematurely or weighed under 2.5kg or 5½ lbs when they were born.

If you’re taking precautions and following the guidelines for making cosleeping as safe as you can then I think you shouldn’t be berated at every drs/health visitor/midwife appointment.

Emmaev · 07/11/2024 07:44

@PinkWatermelon88 we’re still co sleeping, like you it’s the only way anyone can get any sleep. I looked at the lullaby website first before doing it. Indies 10 weeks tomorrow and I’d have lost my sanity and would have probably ended up giving up breastfeeding and falling to sleep in much more unsafe positions due to exhaustion.

To bash a parent for co sleeping is ridiculous in my eyes. Parents should be supported to be able to co sleep safely. Of course it comes with risks, but for me the risks of not doing it are far bigger. In the early days I was a zombie and taking care of Indie I would fall to sleep with her in my arms and end up jolting myself awake panicking.

Im also so sorry to hear about your mum, sending my condolences ❤️

WinsandSam · 07/11/2024 08:11

@PinkWatermelon88 don't feel guilty!! You're raising a tiny human who is probably happy and is so loved 🥰 we also co sleep some nights when she is upset and wont settle. Saw the health visitor today and also got told off for it being so "risky." I'd say us being sleep deprived is was more risky!

kc92 · 07/11/2024 14:37

All the pictures of your beautiful baby girls are making me broody again!!! Got my cycles back freakishly early this time, even with EBF, and almost suggested trying for Irish twins to my partner this week. 😂 I'm still fairly sure 2 is our magic number of babies but if I see any more photos I might change my mind.

@TripleESept24 not baby sensory but I signed up for a baby massage class & it's been lovely - nice to chat to other sleep deprived humans IRL.

@PinkWatermelon88 everyone I know has coslept - agree it's totally ridiculous to tell parents not too without giving a magic solution that helps babies tolerate cribs. & I would see the fact she wants to be so close to you, and that you're supporting her needs, as being an absolute success of a parent!! Especially at this tough time for you. Can only imagine how hard it is right now, it's so deeply unfair. 💔

kc92 · 07/11/2024 14:40

Hit post too soon when I thought the toddler was waking up but that's an amazing wright gain @sorchanim 💪 amazes me still how quickly they grow

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 07/11/2024 15:08

@kc92 Meanwhile I'm sitting here with my gorgeous only baby wondering how the hell people do this twice 😂 you must be mad! They're so cute and cuddly but the sleep deprivation is something else. I must be doing something wrong! (And my baby has been sleeping solid 5-7 hours every night for weeks now)

TripleESept24 · 07/11/2024 15:55

Had baby sensory today it was so good we loved it! Esme was smiling and cooing through the whole thing! Also met a mum who is another Leicester city supporter, and said she is up for coffee and walks whenever! So that's nice already 🥰

@TripleESept24 aawww she looks so happy 💕

kc92 · 07/11/2024 18:50

@HuggingAnIcePack887 ironically the thought of a second filled me with a faint horror until 17 months post partum first time around 😂 this is a much more chill experience for 100 reasons but knowing my luck I'd get a sleepless terror for a third 😅

@TripleESept24 you look so glam! Inspiring me to wash my hair tomorrow 🙈

TripleESept24 · 07/11/2024 19:10

@kc92 first time I'd washed blow dried and straightened it in ages 🤣🤣🤣

PinkWatermelon88 · 07/11/2024 21:30

@Newborndaze @kc92 @WinsandSam @Emmaev thank you all for your kind words and sanity checks. Had an AWFUL night last night, she screamed from 10:30-4:30am no matter what I did. Have to just keep telling myself it’s just a phase and not doubt myself or my parenting as much 💕

WinsandSam · 08/11/2024 17:26

@PinkWatermelon88 that sounds hellish!! Poor you. Hopefully last night was a little better

Decaffe · 08/11/2024 18:33

@PinkWatermelon88 another one here to say we are also (still) co-sleeping. DS is 7.5 weeks and has steadfastly refused to spend a single night in his Snuzpod next to the bed. What am I saying, he won’t even spend ten minutes in there when awake let alone an hour plus when asleep!

I’ve made sure to follow all the SS7 and Lullaby advice. Don’t feel bad, it’s an entirely normal way to sleep!

He will also (still) only nap in our arms. He will only sleep in the pram if it’s in motion and there is some ambient background noise. The moment the pram stops moving he’s like this 👀

WinsandSam · 08/11/2024 20:44

@Decaffe we still only have contact naps.. if I dare to put her down she knows and cries. Only other way to get her to sleep is the car or pram when moving 😂

PinkWatermelon88 · 08/11/2024 20:51

I’m the same!!! Contact naps 24/7 only other place she’ll go is car or buggy

TripleESept24 · 09/11/2024 09:14

Morning everyone! Question re nappies and sizes......

We have tried quite a lot of nappies but have stuck to Aldi Mamia size 1 (also convenient as it is our most local shop!) the last week, we have had a couple of poonamis! Poo escaping the sides and top of nappy! And also wet leaking out too and her vest is wet In the morning (I changed her at 4.40am, then it's wet at 7.30 this morning through to her clothes)

Is it time to size up/when do you know to size up? They seem a little tight around tops of legs but not on waist. Mamia size 1 says 4-11lbs, she definitely is nowhere near 11 pounds, maybe 9.5lbs?? Yet size 2 says 6-13lbs (which she is in-between also!?)

Also any advice on your favourite nappies/has it changed with size??

Thank you 🥰

Also I had my first trip on the bus and into town yesterday!! Was lovely, feel like I'm getting myself back to normality!!
