@HappyGoLucky31 my dating scan is on 22nd at 9am so nice and early. I hate later scans feel like I sit and worry all day otherwise so glad it's early. Keep being told it's so unlikely something will go wrong at this stage and the baby's thriving by the sonographers but I think the anxiety's always going to be there until baby's here probably. They say that it's very rare that they see mc happening after seeing a heartbeat at 10 weeks so now I'm 3 days away from 12 weeks feeling more confident in that. The baby was really reactive! Wasn't moving much in the beginning she gave my belly a little wiggle and that got baby moving and they was stretching around in there! She also could see the digestive system today and said all looks really good so that was reassuring

Controversial but I love private scans the lady's I go to in the clinic are just amazing and so in depth and really make me feel reassured , also I've been having quite intense pulling sensations and a dull ache in my uterus/bum for a few days also. Spoke to midwife she basically said what do you expect it's expanding so your baby can grow it's a positive sign. Can't help but worry though. Now that the 12 week scans coming up I'm nervous about the Down syndrome screening results also it's been on my mind a lot. Apparently there's common warning signs that would've been picked up after having so many scans and NT measurements have been fine but still scared. Purely because I don't know how I'd feel and what we'd do so the unknown is freaking me out. I'm sure your scan will be fine! Please keep us updated!

@Patientlywaiting7 sonographers won't lie to you , if all looks good and healthy on the day they tell you and if it doesn't they would also tell you, they wouldn't keep you in the dark so try not to worry your little one was wiggling about that's amazing!! Also normal to not tell you exact dates as it can cause unnecessary stress as baby can measure few days behind sometimes due to position and youd freak out even if its nothing. At my epu scan they wouldn't give a date they just said about 6weeks but give or take a week each side so could also be 5 or 7 weeks. It scared me hearing 5weeks maybe as I was supposed to be 6+4. All of our private scans have measured out give or take a day which I know is normal now as baby's still fine every time so I don't stress but if you aren't getting weekly's you'll be creating scenarios in your head about the dates so please try not to worry xx

I’m 12 weeks on Saturday and have booked a private scan for that day even though my NHS one is next Wednesday. Bit worried I’m gonna go and they’re going to think I’m being a bit stupid getting one on Saturday but think I’m just feeling relieved at the idea of getting to 12 weeks and you also get video clips sent to your phone from this place which I think will be super cute. I went to them for a scan at 6w3d after bleeding and like that I have little clips of the tiny heart beating away.

Patientlywaiting7 · 15/08/2024 21:01

@Ellsx6 @HappyGoLucky31 thanks both for the kind words. Really want to just forget about it. My 12 week scan is tomorrow 2 weeks time.
spoke to my mum about my anxieties coming down to lack of symptoms and she told me that in our family very few women have had symptoms like cramping etc - she told me she had no symptoms herself and I come from a really big family!

@Ellsx6 im really scared about my dating scan and the different tests. I’ve waited so long for this pregnancy and just scared if it’s not something that was in the plan if that makes sense.. ahh x

PlumpHobbit · 15/08/2024 21:22

Private scan booked for Saturday! First time I've started to feel twitchy, I think because of some of the heartbreaking scans on here

We are going on Monday, only for 4 nights, I did want to go abroad, but my mum worried me a bit with the what ifs, and I do still feel sick, especially in the evenings, so probably for the best the thought of a big buffet canteen with people breathing all over the food makes me twitchy at least at CP if I'm feeling sick we can have an easy dinner in the apartment, I'm taking things like baking potatoes etc so I can just have a plain dinner if needed

The nausea seems to be worst in the lead up to evening meal, which in turn makes me not want to eat much

PlumpHobbit · 15/08/2024 21:25

I've requested the downs etc screen during my dating scan during my booking in appointment yesterday

I'm usually a worrier and catastrophise, I haven't until now but its all suddenly feeling very real especially in terms of getting to the checks that make sure everything is looking ok

ChristmasJumpers · 16/08/2024 12:33

I decided against the additional tests at my 13 week scan as they tell you the chance that there is an abnormality and then you need additional tests (some quite invasive) to find out for sure. I know I wouldn't opt for the extra tests and would then just spend the pregnancy worrying, so we're just going in blind!

Ellsx6 · 16/08/2024 13:16

@ChristmasJumpers I understand your choice completely. We'd rather know to prepare for any additional needs ect and would only except NIPT testing as that's much more accurate but not invasive..I'd never do the one that risks a miscarriage. A family relative was told baby was High chance downs she did nipt also high chance and she was iffing and arring about the needle in stomach but ended up deciding against. Baby was actually born completely fine but she was glad she knew something could be wrong so she could do her extra research just incase. Her second baby weirdly was high risk for downs again and also was fine. A mystery!!

Oh that's so strange that she got high risk twice! I had no idea about the NIPT test - I've heard of it bit not what it actually tests. Is that one you can get on the NHS or is it private?

m00ngirl · 16/08/2024 13:30

Hi ladies, hope everyone's ok! I had my 12 week scan today and all is looking good. I measured a week behind at my 7.5 week scan but was totally caught up today to exactly where I thought I was based on LMP (11+6). Just thought to share for others who have measured behind!

Ellsx6 · 16/08/2024 14:03

@ChristmasJumpers The nhs will do the screening for downs, Edwards and pateaus if you opt for it. It's done by the measurement of NT fluid behind baby's neck, your age and your blood test results which will then give you a high chance or low chance of any of the above conditions. If your result is high risk you will then be offered the NIPT testing which from what I can gather online is a more in depth blood test to tell you more accurate numbers of the chance of baby having one of the conditions

im panicking someone is going to tell
my toddler - or she’ll figure out . She’s way too smart for own good! I’m waiting for my 12 week scan… but I’m got a huge blump going on and people keep making comments ….
Eg - went to a museum today and they had an exhibit on early midwifery and this older lady turned to me and said I shouldn’t be looking at that in my condition 😂…. Just had a moment of stupidity and the nice man at the cafe just laughed and said ‘ no worries , it’s just baby brain’ ….

Edited

I just told my 4 year old yesterday (I'm 9 weeks) because he'd definitely figured it out already! They are very perceptive

She keeps asking about my tummy being ok and giving it kisses 🥹🥹

Partly it’s because I want the relative security of the 12 week scan but also once she knows - the world knows and I’m not quite ready for that! And it will literally be all she’ll talk about - she’s wanted a baby for ages!- which will be lovely if all goes well but the horrible anxious part of me knows it’ll make it worse if it doesn’t . (Our fridge broke this week and she’s asked about th broken fridge in that non-stop why way ever since and that’s stressful enough!)

eatsleepworkchildcarerepeat · 17/08/2024 08:46

Same here! My four year old keeps talking about the baby we're going to have, we haven't mentioned anything to him at all it's so weird! How do they know??

Downtherabbithole83 · 17/08/2024 09:54

Those of you who are taking cyclizine, did it take a while to kick in? I’m 5 tablets in and am not seeing a difference so far…

This is so reassuring I’m pretty sure I am measuring 5-7 days behind. When I thought I was 7 weeks they said 6+1 the week after 7+1. I am now by their calculations without a scan 8+2. My 12 week scan will be by their calculations 11+1 so I’m hoping to gain a few days 😂😂😂. I am in a constant state of worry which sounds ridiculous. I was going to have another private scan but with a bad experience of private scans ( told me baby didn’t have a HB but they wasn’t even looking at a baby) I’m so nervous to do one. I am so glad all went well for you xxx

m00ngirl · 17/08/2024 11:08

Fingers crossed for you @Joleyjojo I remember reading about your private scan nightmare! My early scan was also private but actually at the hospital with the consultant so I did feel confident in it. If you are a week behind at the 12 week scan you may need to be rebooked for another scan a week later if having the Downs etc screening as you have to be over 11+6 for that I believe. My midwife prepared me for that but I was so confident my dates were correct and the early scan was off. I've read SO many accounts on here like mine of early scans measuring behind but then catching up by the 12 weeks. Hopefully that's the case for you too so you can get the first trimester out the way asap! :-) xx

gg9320 · 17/08/2024 11:20

@Downtherabbithole83 no, it worked straight away though when I say worked it stopped me vomiting but didn’t do much for the nausea. If you’re still vomiting I would recommend going back to the gp to add another medication on top or to try something else. It’s a bit of trial and error sometimes. Pregnancy sickness support has a good website which lists the different medications available.

I guess I’m probably being sick less… so it might be working a bit. I think I was hoping for a miracle before we go away on holiday. Vomiting on the flight is not my ideal…

Moomoo20 · 17/08/2024 17:36

Hi ladies sorry been a bit quiet on here. Just surviving trying to keep my 3yo entertained and deal with the constant nausea! I'm quite lucky in that I haven't been physically sick yet but I'm only 8 weeks today. The constant feeling of nausea from morning until 9 is hard though. I'm going out for lunch with friends tomorrow and it will tough as I hate everything food wise it's now.

Patientlywaiting7 · 17/08/2024 18:09

Hi ladies. Feeling super super anxious. Had a wee and when I wiped I had some usual discharge but there was the added tiniest bit of brown. Have no idea what this means - it’s the first time I’ve seen this and just feeling really really scared!

GlitteringCat · 17/08/2024 18:47

Had a 12 week scan today which was all good and feel super relieved! I’m a FTM and it was so strange seeing it kick its teeny legs.
Based on my LMP im due 1st March but the scan dated me as 12w4d and said 25th Feb. Based on dates I know, I’m pretty certain it should be 28th Feb or later so they’re maybe just a bit bigger! Got NHS scan on wed to confirm date.

HappyGoLucky31 · 17/08/2024 18:53

@Patientlywaiting7 hi lovely, I’m sorry to hear about the discharge. My friend was just telling me the other day that midwives always say brown is usually okay, it’s old blood making its way out slowly. I’ve had brown since 5ws and lots of scans have confirmed everything is okay.

it’s difficult as EPUs are usually closed of a weekend but my hospital advise me in the case of early pregnancy to go to A&E if the EPU is closed. They will check your cervix and may be able to scan you. If they can’t, I wonder if your EPU has an email address and id email them tonight so they see it first thing Monday. When I had brown spotting they got me in for a scan that afternoon ❤️

I know it’s easier said than done but try not to panic. Brown is good 👍🏻 and you have come this far. Of all my friends who have been pregnant, more than half have had some form of early bleeding/discharge.

Hi ladies. Feeling super super anxious. Had a wee and when I wiped I had some usual discharge but there was the added tiniest bit of brown. Have no idea what this means - it’s the first time I’ve seen this and just feeling really really scared!

I had this started as heavier brown bleeding and then more like brown tinted discharge for a few weeks. I had a hemotoma which is pretty common it seems. Speak to your EPU I got a scan and ended up being fine but I know really scary and stressful. Had my 12 week scan today and it all seems to have now passed luckily. Everyone kept saying brown generally isn’t concerning which I really held onto!

HappyGoLucky31 · 17/08/2024 19:48

@GlitteringCat lovely news, congratulations! 🩷💙 I had a scan today just for reassurance and they dated me 11w2d - puts me out of whack everytime! So due 05/03 according to that but holding out until 12 weeks for official date x

Ellsx6 · 17/08/2024 20:01

@Patientlywaiting7 brown in discharge is usually just old blood coming out so should be fine? Apparantly more common with ivf too..has it continued? I had this once at around 7 weeksish only one time at one wipe and not since. Keep an eye x
