Hi everyone, hope you and your babies are all doing good.

Haven’t been very active here yet as I find pregnancy very anxiety inducing after multiple MMC. Just a quick question - those of you who are on progesterone, are you all
having regular scans?

With my daughter I remember them scanning me a lot until 12 weeks due to 2 previous MMC, but this time despite scanning me at 6 weeks and prescribing me progesterone (which I requested as I took it last time and had a successful pregnancy on it last time) they haven’t mentioned any additional scans. Not sure if this is an oversight?

To be honest, I found the scans really helped with my anxiety last time and I’m missing them. I guess I could just pay for a couple of private ones.

Onthedouble123 · 14/08/2024 22:05

@Cariad90 I'm on progesterone. I've had 2 scans but that's because my first one was unclear viability- showed twins; one slightly behind dates and one very far behind with no pole. I've then had a repeat scan which showed one baby that had caught up sizewise and confirmed second was not viable.
Nothing more after that until my dating scan next week. Xx

HappyGoLucky31 · 14/08/2024 22:09

@Ellsx6 thats good to hear lovely. I’ve got one booked in for Saturday afternoon but literally don’t know how I’m going to last the three days. I’m just so so anxious at the moment.

let us know how you get on tomorrow 😘

Ellsx6 · 14/08/2024 23:17

@HappyGoLucky31 I was so close to getting one on Sunday just gone but had one 3 days prior to that. Just kept crying a lot because I'm anxious so proud of myself for waiting atleast a week haha. I think now it's feeling more real and looking more like a baby and they move at scans ect I'm getting more anxious because I think I'd feel more upset to have a loss at this point than if I did before I got this far which has heightened my anxiety. The brain works in weird ways! I will update tomorrow..scan at 10am. Fingers crossed nothings gone wrong since last week!🩷

Hi @Cariad90 - I’ve also had two previous MMC and have been prescribed progesterone under Recurrant Miscarriage - I was expecting two scans but have only had one at 7 weeks (I was 7+5 and all good!), when I asked them they said they normally do two but they don’t have the capacity to offer two atm 😔 I’m now 10 weeks and debated booking a private scan, but I’ve had a bad experience with them before so I keep putting the decision off! My 12 week NHS scan is on 28th Aug and I’m leaning towards just waiting for that. I’m in Manchester, btw!

sannax · 15/08/2024 09:11

@Cariad90 I am also under RMC and on progesterone and only offered one reassurance scan at 6 weeks. I’m currently 8 weeks and very tempted to book a last minute private scan today.

Patientlywaiting7 · 15/08/2024 09:49

@Ellsx6 best wishes for today! xx

Cariad90 · 15/08/2024 10:31

Thanks for replying, that’s useful to know. Really sorry to hear that you lost one of your twins 💕 but glad the other one is still doing well x

Cariad90 · 15/08/2024 10:36

Thanks @sannax and @MarchingOnwards. Sounds like it’s just the way they do things at the moment. I just feel like the scan reassures me for a week (my 6 week one was only last Monday) and then I start to worry if everything’s okay. My 12 week scan isn’t until mid September (Friday 13th 😬 which feels very ominous), so I don’t think I can hold on until then. Trying to hold out until 8/9 weeks for a private scan because they’re not cheap!

Hope your scan goes well if you do book one today @sannax

Ellsx6 · 15/08/2024 10:55

@HappyGoLucky31 @Patientlywaiting7

Thankyou both! Scan was all good..it surprises me every time because I literally wouldn't know I was pregnant if it wasn't for doing a test so I'm expecting something to be wrong every time. We won't have another one until our nhs dating scan which is next Thursday! X

sannax · 15/08/2024 12:22

When did everyone have their booking appointment with the midwife? I haven’t heard anything yet or got an appointment for a dating scan

PlumpHobbit · 15/08/2024 12:48

I'm close to booking a private scan, my NHS one isn't until 10th September, and I just want to know there's a heartbeat etc. Twins also run in the family so kind of want to know how many are in there...

There's been so many sad posts on here I'm starting to get worried, but I'd rather know now if that makes sense, before I go back to work

They have availability Saturday, we are due to go for a short UK break on Monday so it's do we find out before with the risk things may not be ok

I called and registered with my local midwives at 4/5 weeks and hadn't heard anything until I called yesterday (8 weeks). They had people off so the booking appointments hadn't been sent out. They've got me booked in for tomorrow. If you get to 8 weeks and haven't heard anything I would call and just ask when you should expect to hear, just to give them a little nudge and check you haven't been missed of the system etc. I still haven't got my dating scan but I've got a private scan booked for Sunday, just so I have something to work towards and makes me feel like things are moving!

Onthedouble123 · 15/08/2024 13:04

@sannax it flagged up on the computer system in my booking appointment with an extra box to say why I wasn't booked in by 10 weeks. (Id had to push the appointment back as I was on holiday and then they couldn't fit me in til then). So I think it must be the procedure to aim to have everyone booked by 10 weeks. I then got my letter for my scan a couple of days after that appointment. Xx

Ellsx6 · 15/08/2024 15:22

@sannax I called at 4 weeks as soon as I found out. Had my booking appointment at 6 weeks and a few days after my dating scan appointment came in the post

Patientlywaiting7 · 15/08/2024 15:41

Sudden feeling - super anxious about MMC or MC in general 🙁🙁🙁🙁 gestational sac is 10w2d. Had the scan today and all looked ok. But still a bit worried … help

Personally I think I would, if I were worried. Everything crossed it’s good news for you, of course, but if it isn’t, a break may be just what you’d need. Appreciate not everyone would see it that way of course.

@Patientlywaiting7 I'm so sorry about the anxiety you're going through, it can be awful. If I understand correctly, did you have a scan today and everything looked okay? Or was it dated differently than you expected?

Patientlywaiting7 · 15/08/2024 17:07

@ridl14 everything looked okay - they’re not dating them as I’m on 10 weeks and they wait for your official ultrasound for that. I was told everything was looking okay and I even saw it wiggling away. Just feeling mega anxious as this is the first time I’ve ever been pregnant in 5 years! How far along are you now? Have you had your dating scan? Hope all is well

Fletchasketch · 15/08/2024 17:15

Sadly I'm bowing out this afternoon. 8 week scan measured at 7w2 and no heartbeat. Unplanned so don't think I've a right to feel this sad. Wishing all the rest of you all the best for the next few months and happy, healthy babies.

I had this dilemma but a bit earlier on - whether to book an early scan for just before 7 weeks before a holiday, or 8 weeks when back. I went for the later date which I think was definitely the right decision

IMBCRound2 · 15/08/2024 18:56

im panicking someone is going to tell
my toddler - or she’ll figure out . She’s way too smart for own good! I’m waiting for my 12 week scan… but I’m got a huge blump going on and people keep making comments ….
Eg - went to a museum today and they had an exhibit on early midwifery and this older lady turned to me and said I shouldn’t be looking at that in my condition 😂…. Just had a moment of stupidity and the nice man at the cafe just laughed and said ‘ no worries , it’s just baby brain’ ….

HappyGoLucky31 · 15/08/2024 18:57

@Ellsx6 stunning news! I feel like you are home and dry now, not long until your dating scan too. :) What date is it again, remind me? X
i am just so so anxious. Still spotting due to haemorrhage and a weird pulling sensation tonight. Saturday afternoon can’t come quick enough.

@PlumpHobbit I would go for the scan. It seems counterintuitive if you are going away and then receive bad news but IF it is bad news, going away might be just want you need. ❤️

@Patientlywaiting7 here with you in the anxiety. My thoughts on early scans are … they are a fantastic fix - at the time. And then a few days after my anxiety creeps in again. Try and rest easy in the knowledge that everything is okay 🩷 I know it’s easy for me to say. I’m on TikTok (down with the kids ✌🏻) and the amount of videos I’ve seen today about first trimester anxiety …. It’s a real thing. I’m obviously feeding the algorithm! 😂

HappyGoLucky31 · 15/08/2024 18:59

@Fletchasketch I am so sorry lovely. You absolutely do have the right to feel however you feel. Be kind and gentle to yourself. Sending lots of love 🩷
