I'm 17+2
I don't feel pregnant, I feel like my belly has deflated.
Is concerned me. Last scanned at 14 wells, all was well.
Am I being paranoid due to previous losses?
Baby number 3, last pregnant 8 years ago.

Ellsx6 · 03/10/2024 14:09

@Sinderalla you may have just been bloated before so your bloats gone resulting in you thinking it was a small bump when it wasn't originally. Baby's are still so small at this time they have plenty of room to hide without showing..I have weekly private scans so I can't really advise on what to do because I don't think I'd be mentally alive without the scans😅but it's most probably fine. This is a very awkward stage of not much of a bump or movement and symptoms relieving. I probably feel the most alive now at 18 weeks than I have the whole pregnancy

eatsleepworkchildcarerepeat · 02/10/2024 09:50

I've definitely had a few random pains here and there, it's quite common I think.

My maternity wear is going to consist mostly of leggings and jumpers I think! I am struggling to find cosy jumpers and pjs though... have been on the hunt on Vinted. Sorry I can't be of more help with dresses!

For anyone similar, I've been feeling baby (my second) for a while now but only because I know from the first I didn't "feel" anything until over 18 weeks, maybe even near 20, but it turned out that I actually was feeling baby but mine doesn't feel like flutters or bubbles! Mine is like my stomach is twitching, like an involuntary muscle spasm. Also v low down at bottom of bump. Sharing just in case anyone else feels it like that because for ages with my first I was upset I didn't feel him but I actually could!

This is my first pregnancy and I think I can feel baby moving too, always exactly the same place and comes in bursts, and likewise isn't "flutters" as everyone says but more like what you describe. I describe it as twinges, it's that sort of feeling. Coincides with cold drinks etc. I have an anterior placenta and am fairly slim, wondering if either of these are factors - does that match you? Thanks

eatsleepworkchildcarerepeat · 03/10/2024 15:53

@m00ngirl yes that sounds very similar to mine, I think you're probably feeling baby! I'm relatively slim (or at least used to be before first trimester and all the carbs) and not sure where placenta is! How do you know did you ask at a scan?

Ellsx6 · 03/10/2024 16:18

@m00ngirl mines also like twitches. Not particularly slim and my placenta is posteria but still feels like muscle spasms sort of and twitchy🤣

Sinderalla · 03/10/2024 17:29

@Ellsx6
Thank you.
I think you're right about the bloat - I was on the progesterone pessarys (that's not spelt right)
Caused a lot of constipation. I stopped them a week and a half ago- two weeks ago.
Maybe I'm debloating from that x

Ellsx6 · 03/10/2024 17:33

@Sinderalla I've struggled with constipation terribly until the last 2 weeks where I'm going to the toilet normal again and my belly has got flatter in all honesty. Quite sad about it because I liked to imagine it was all baby🤣I'm sure when we are 30 weeks and can't see our toes we will miss these days! X

m00ngirl · 03/10/2024 19:03

@eatsleepworkchildcarerepeat @Ellsx6 that's helpful to know, thanks! yes I asked at a scan about the placenta, and I'm glad they told me as with anterior placenta they say you should prepare to feel baby less with that x

I’m on them too, meant to be finishing them tomorrow but I still have a box left and I feel weird about not finishing the box so I’ll carry on until they’re gone!

The bloat from them is unreal though! Also I fluctuate between a bad tummy and constipation - it’s a real battle.

Hopefully I will debloat a little once I’m off them too!

GlitteringCat · 04/10/2024 20:26

I’m on an all inclusive holiday for a few weeks and am finding food surprisingly hard! Restaurants are all quite fancy and in 2 days already ordered 3 things I couldn’t eat without realising! Two possibly had raw egg in and the other turns out is made from liver. Luckily realised before eating them but now feeling quite stressed about what to eat! Also ate goats cheese from a buffet without thinking (not sure what type it was) 😫 never really had issue at home but there’s so many foods I don’t know what’s in them and asking staff hasn’t been massively helpful 😫

ChristmasJumpers · 05/10/2024 07:51

I was woken up last night by horrible cramps. I'm honestly not sure if it was a dodgy tummy or something else, it was incredibly painful. In my tired state I was worried I was having contractions as it kept coming in waves 😢 I threw up the toast I'd eaten before bed but the cramps continued for about an hour after. No idea if I should be getting checked out or if I just wasn't feeling well in myself.

Ellsx6 · 05/10/2024 10:05

@ChristmasJumpers if you're worried which you seem you are..just call. I've had a headache for 2 weeks and started seeing stars yesterday..probably nothing but I'm worried and want to be checked out. To my delight there's no one in the community midwife office over the weekend and told in an emergency call mat ward in the hospital..called and they won't see me unless I'm over 20 weeks. So worried for the weekend it is!😒 I hope yours is better than this!

Sounds like a visual migraine- had quite a few during my first pregnancy. Not much they can do for you tbh - most of the medications aren’t approved during pregnancy. I ended up in urgent care it got so bad and they just said tough luck and sent me home .

PlumpHobbit · 05/10/2024 13:26

I've got the number for both my midwife and midwife triage, if you have the same could always call triage just to be on the safe side?

Had a 16 week private scan today, as wanted to find out the gender, we're having a little boy! 💙 everyone thought it was a girl

Having to keep it a secret from my mum as she still wants a surprise!

Ellsx6 · 05/10/2024 13:50

@IMBCRound2 as I'm high risk for preeclampsia and on prevention medication for it, having symptoms of preeclampsia naturally I'm worried. Even if it's nothing I'd still like my blood pressure taken and urine sample taken. Neither of these were done at my 16 week appointment and hasn't been done since 12 weeks where I had protein present but not enough for it to be anything serious but as we know things can get bad pretty quick..I've ordered my own blood pressure machine to do at home as the maternal help here is next to none🫤

Ellsx6 · 05/10/2024 13:51

@PlumpHobbit congratulations! We're having a boy too!! It's defo a year for the boys🩵

Says on the NHS website it’s not a risk of actually happening until after 20 weeks ? That may be why they aren’t concerned (and hopefully gives you a bit of reassurance!!) When’s your next appointment? I’m really surprised how few appointments you get second time round!

It’s frustrating how varied maternal help is - I doubt I’d get anywhere with my EPU but my midwife is unbelievably amazing. She even said she’d watch my little one for me while I had my next scan because I was struggling for child care ! And she let me record the heart beat (so I got literally no work done after my appointment since I just played it on repeat!)

Ellsx6 · 05/10/2024 17:02

@IMBCRound2 I have my 20 week scan in 10 days but don't think I'll see the midwife at that one so my next appointment is at 24 weeks with her. It seems everyone got there midwife's mobile number but I didn't..wondering if that's something I should've been given? I seem like a pain having to call the office for advice..so it's unlikely to get it before 20 weeks but still possible! I'm glad your midwife's good..my epu is only for if your referred by midwife but they were actually amazing when I were referred in the earlier days! I've seen some people say there epu is a walk in service aswell as referrals

I have my midwifes mobile number but only because she rang me to book my first appointment. I once rang her and left her a message in tears that my GP was refusing anti sickness medication, she completely ignored it and never got back to me

Yes - I only got into the EPU with my last pregnancy because I fell down an entire flight of stairs and I really had to push for it. It sometimes feels a bit ridiculous how some seem to accept people for ‘little’ things (I appreciate they feel big )

I do have my midwife’s number from when she called me to book- thankfully I’ve only had to text once re my scan results but she got back to me right away. Otherwise the one other time I rang I used the number in my ‘pregnancy passport’ (no idea if all trusts do those? ) - I was a bit reluctant to text my midwife in that case as I didn’t know her working days so I didn’t want it to just sit unread . I think if i recognised it just me being anxious and realistically I knew I could wait- I’d use her number (but then I’d feel guilty bothering her ! ) but if I was genuinely concerned I’d ring the office so I know it would definitely get picked up. With my last pregnancy I didn’t so I don’t think it’s something that’s consistently given out - it may be up to the midwife if they want people to have that ready contact !

lipgoss · 06/10/2024 11:18

Been to two weddings this weekend, one on Friday and one yesterday, and just about to get ready for the yesterday one's day two. I am exhausted!
I still had a great time even though normally at a wedding I'd be drowning in fizz, but I feel like I've run a marathon 😂 Bump, which is still small really, was so achy by the end of the night(s)! Can't wait to flop out later.

Ellsx6 · 06/10/2024 15:44

Just had my private anomaly scan at 19 weeks (nhs one in a few weeks). Baby is on the 82nd percentile! She said he's measuring about a week ahead. She's not concerned and everything looked perfect with heart kidneys cleft lip ect. He's just got quite big abdominal circumference and long legs/big feet! Has anyone else with previous children measured like this and the baby's not been huge. I'm imagining having to squeeze a 11lb baby with a big Buddha belly out right now!🤣

Onthedouble123 · 06/10/2024 18:45

@ChristmasJumpers I hope you're feeling a little better now?
@lipgoss im so impressed with your two weddings in one weekend! I'm tired just reading about them. The height of my weekend is I'm impressed with myself for managing with no nap today! And I've done two park trips in two days meaning bump is aching terribly this evening 😩 xx

Onthedouble123 · 06/10/2024 18:46

@Ellsx6 great news! I think my little girl was somewhere around that centile on the 20 week scan and she was 8lb 3 born. Xx

ChristmasJumpers · 06/10/2024 18:55

@Onthedouble123 yes thank you! No more cramping or sickness and I've felt a bit of movement since, so decided not to ring the hospital about it. It's my 20 week scan on Tuesday so I don't have to wait too long to be seen thankfully

@ellsx6 I'm pretty sure DD was high centile through pregnancy but she was born 7lb 4oz
