If you’re worried at all, get the test done. Sugars in urine is very food dependent. So get a blood test.
If the mw refuses which they shouldn’t! Then buy a kit (not expensive) and do a couple of morning fasted tests, if >5.5 in pregnancy you need formally investigated and I don’t think any sensible mw would decline at that stage.

@UncharteredWaters thanks for the advice, that's really helpful. Strangely enough about an hour ago I got 2 letters in the post- one confirming my consultant appt in January and another for a GTT on 20th November. So now I'm wondering whether something mustve shown in my urine and midwife just referred me but didn't call to tell me because I definitely wasn't being sent for one when we spoke within the appt itself! It still feels quite a while away so think I'm going to order some more strips and start doing my finger pricks as a precaution. (And will look into altering to the diet too 🙄) Xx

@wildhay I hope you're doing okay. Have you heard any results yet? Xx

@wildhay that's amazing news! 💞
So pleased for you. Xx

Are any 18 weekers on here experiencing a sore belly? It's just feeling very achey and sore right at the bottom and all the way round really. Also randomly feeling so tired even after sleeping for 12 hours and feel sick and miserable today. I'm so down for no reason!

Onthedouble123 · 01/10/2024 19:01

Yes, I'm having a lot of pains but my bump is definitely quite large for how far along I am so putting it down to that!
I've also been quite down last couple of days. And headachey 😞 xx

Ellsx6 · 01/10/2024 20:23

@Onthedouble123 with you on the headaches. I'm not going to call midwife about it as there not 24/7 or severe and no other symptoms for pre eclampsia and think it's to early for that anyway! Also feeling so down the last few days. I feel massive already..skins horrific and I just feel so chubby on my chin and arms not only my belly!
Ignore the odd pjs .. stripes are stripes eh?! (My other bottoms just don't fit anymore) crying🥲
I'm sure my belly is probably a lot of fat too but it's getting quite hard and uncomfortable🙉 movements are very on and off too at this stage which isn't helping my anxiety😣 partners just gone to Tesco to get me some new pjs and some snacks on a nice side

had a few sore days recently but I don’t know if that’s because I’ve been carrying my little one a bit more than I should and she’s ended up resting on my bump. Been trying to give her piggybacks instead but sometimes you just need a proper cuddle !

also I definitely need to accept I need to be in maternity clothes - I don’t think wearing too tight clothes is helping me. Just came back from holiday and was in loose dresses but since I’ve been back I’ve tried squeezing into my winter stuff and it’s just not happening ! Bump is definitely bumping but weirdly I still have comically defined abs on my bump so it’s hard to tell what’s bump and what’s muscle? I swear they don’t look that impressive normally…

think I’m feeling movements now - but same as with my first they are a lot bigger than flutters (but I have no idea what else they would be- sort of a popping feeling ?) My daughter was swinging her legs under the table and accidently kicked me and baby kicked me at the exact same time and I suddenly had a glimpse of my future with two 😳♥️

IMBCRound2 · 01/10/2024 20:59

On that note - anyone found any warmer maternity wear? All the long sleeve dresses (I don’t wear trousers) seem to be body-con which isn’t the most practical when you live rurally with a feral toddler.

eatsleepworkchildcarerepeat · 02/10/2024 09:50

I've definitely had a few random pains here and there, it's quite common I think.

My maternity wear is going to consist mostly of leggings and jumpers I think! I am struggling to find cosy jumpers and pjs though... have been on the hunt on Vinted. Sorry I can't be of more help with dresses!

For anyone similar, I've been feeling baby (my second) for a while now but only because I know from the first I didn't "feel" anything until over 18 weeks, maybe even near 20, but it turned out that I actually was feeling baby but mine doesn't feel like flutters or bubbles! Mine is like my stomach is twitching, like an involuntary muscle spasm. Also v low down at bottom of bump. Sharing just in case anyone else feels it like that because for ages with my first I was upset I didn't feel him but I actually could!

Jellybelly888 · 02/10/2024 10:12

I found some lovely maternity wear on M&S website and also Verbaudet, both so reasonable and a lot on Verbaudet is in the sale, including winter jammies! 🙌

26dX · 02/10/2024 11:30

Anyone else can't stop eating? SOS 😂

LV1987 · 02/10/2024 13:17

@26dX I am literally insatiable 😂 as soon as I finish eating, I'm hungry for my next snack. I'm 16 weeks, apparently baby is going to double in size over the next week, so I guess that's why?! Baby needs food 🙊

26dX · 02/10/2024 13:24

@LV1987 goodness I'm 17+1 and feel like the hole is never filled!! 😂😂😂 at this rate I'm going to double in size too haha!!

hopefullyTTC2x · 02/10/2024 14:54

I'm the opposite and struggling to eat. Was diagnosed with gestational diabetes a few weeks ago and already on medication to help my fasting levels stay down. It's just made everything around food a bit miserable trying to work out what I can have, eating what I don't really want to, not being able to have many carbs or anything I'd like to eat. It's put me off food completely and I'm forgetting to have lunch or dinner often, not realising until I'm feeling feeling ill then having something that I know is safe for me rather than anything I might want. I'd say enjoy it while you can

26dX · 02/10/2024 15:00

@hopefullyTTC2x ah that's rubbish, sorry to hear! How far along are you? Did you get diagnosed due to any symptoms or just through testing? X

hopefullyTTC2x · 02/10/2024 15:09

15 weeks today. I did early testing as I had it in my last pregnancy and monitored at home. I knew I was likely to get it again but not this early, was diagnosed before 12 weeks. Definitely enjoy being able to eat what you want when you want, make up for me not being able to at least 😂

26dX · 02/10/2024 15:18

@hopefullyTTC2x oh no bless you, my partner is type 1 I keep asking him to check mine 😂
I have to start being more mindful though! I have to do the GTT at 28 weeks and dreading it as I've heard the drink is horrendous 🫠🤢

if it's any consolation, I was told by everyone that the drink is disgusting, but I thought it was really nice! It's like a syrup, very sweet and sickly but I have been training for a drink like that all my life with my sweet tooth haha

GlitteringCat · 02/10/2024 20:59

I’m starting to feel I imagined this! About 5am I was lying in bed with my hand on my stomach and felt 2 strong jabs but weirdly felt them on my hand too! I’m 19 weeks tomorrow so still feels early to feel anything on the outside. I do feel baby but it’s a bit sporadic usually. She must have given me a really hard kick! 😂

That’s such a better way of describing it!

with my first i felt like I just was lying there waiting for movement (covid times so there wasn’t much else to distract me!) and it was about 18 weeks but it was such huge movement I dismissed it for ages because it felt too big!

with this one - it’s definitely that muscle twitch feeling .

Ellsx6 · 02/10/2024 23:37

Anyone else's lower back pain so bad!! Can barely even pull myself up out of bed because it kills. Back pains not unusual for me but defo worse now. Movements are very irregular too which I'm hoping is normal at this stage. It makes me worried

26dX · 03/10/2024 07:42

@ChristmasJumpers ah that's given me slight reassurance 😂 I just know I'll be sick after just my luck hahaha

ChristmasJumpers · 03/10/2024 08:17

@Ellsx6 I have lower back pain now and it's horrible, especially as I'm trying to get down and play with my 18 month old still!

My movements are sporadic but at 19 weeks I'm just glad I can feel her as I was 20 weeks with DD

NHS website says movements should be regular by 24 weeks- I’m guessing you aren’t quite that far along yet?
