sadly leaving this group as it’s all official. We’re going to be having a medical abortion and the growth is abnormal. Wish you all every success in your journeys and thanks for being great companions during this short time ❤️

I’m so sorry 💐

I have no words 😔 I am so very sorry. Xx

@Jellybelly888 @Onthedouble123@Ellsx6 @Muffin101 thanks all. I think it’s pataus… I can’t remember the phone call - all a blue. just so crazy. I have no words. Thank you all so much for your kindness x x x

Greymalkin12 · 10/09/2024 17:56

@Patientlywaiting7 so sorry to hear that, take care of yourself. It doesn't help now, but just to say for future pregnancies because of what happened this time you may be entitled to a NIPT test covered by the NHS.

abortion next Wednesday or Thurs - they’ve said they’ll study a sample of it?

I did a cvs yesterday and fuck me there was no warning about how uncomfortable it would be..! they couldn’t get a sample and asked if they could inject at another angle … I said no. It was too much and I was properly weeping.

is the nipt the bloods they do at the 12 week screening or is that separate? if so, I had that and it was super abnormal.

Greymalkin12 · 10/09/2024 19:05

@Patientlywaiting7 the NIPT is a non invasive test blood test that is I think more accurate than the 12 week screening, I think also called the Harmony test? You can pay for it privately but it is quite expensive. One of my miscarriages was found to have Patau (from testing tissue) and since then I have been offered the NIPT instead of the normal screening test by my NHS trust. So sorry you're going through this.

Patientlywaiting7 · 10/09/2024 19:34

@Greymalkin12 have just PMd you x

Downtherabbithole83 · 10/09/2024 19:54

A tfmr just means a termination for medical reasons - essentially an abortion that was due to a medical reason/diagnosis. There are lots of support groups that use the abbreviation so it’s a useful one to know. I had mine in Nov 22 and am currently waiting on NIPT results for my current pregnancy.

There’s a podcast linked to tfmr called ‘The worst girl gang ever’ and tfmr is often referred to as the worst gang with the best members: it’s a little known community but it exists in lots of places online, it’s supportive and it will be there when you’re ready for it xxx

Glamorous questions incoming...

Is anyone else struggling with constipation? I'd say the frequency of me going to the loo is fine, but it's definitely becoming more of a ...struggle... Think I might benefit from a stool softener (I think slightly different to a laxative to make you go...)
Should I be speaking to my midwife about this, or can I just ask a pharmacist and then go ahead and take something?

I also gave this wonderful issue. I spoke to midwife who asked me to ask GP to prescribe lactulose which is OK. 15ml twice a day. But it did take some time to kick in so then had a couple of bowls of fruit and fibre to help x

lipgoss · 11/09/2024 13:31

@Rainbowchaser24 It's all so glam isn't it!

I spoke to the pharmacist at Boots who prescribed me the exact same as you, so will give that a go. I've also been eating weetabix as a snack, but perhaps some bran flakes should be next on my list!
I'm in Scotland so not sure if that makes a difference that they were able to prescribe it there and then under 'Pharmacy First', but so handy not having to go via the GP. Who'd have thought I'd be so pleased with my free bottle of laxative 😂

Ellsx6 · 11/09/2024 13:38

@lipgoss yep been struggling since 6 weeks. 9 weeks later still awful. I've actually had some light bleeding from my bum from straining too haha tmi. Spoke to midwife and she said it's common. I bought lactulose over the counter and I have weetabix every day for breakfast. Does the trick

lipgoss · 11/09/2024 13:42

@Ellsx6 Good to know we're suffering the indignities together 😂

26dX · 11/09/2024 13:45

Only had miserable nausea in the first trimester, now I'm 14 weeks I think my body is rejecting milk, the 2 times I've had it's all come back up 😂 joys!

Jellybelly888 · 11/09/2024 14:38

i had horrendous tummy ache from constipation yesterday (I’m almost 13w). I remembered from my last pregnancy that this was an issue and buying prune juice really helped. One shot glass full a day every morning did the trick by mid afternoon. Warning though - it is vile but keeping it in the fridge and super cold helps. Down it like an Aftershock and re-live the clubbing days 😂

veggiebuns · 11/09/2024 15:00

Hi all! Just wanted to share some happy news. We had our (slightly early) 12 week scan yesterday, and it was so wonderful. I was expecting to be 11+1 and not be able to do the screening but was 11+4 and apparently everything was looking really good. Doing flips and jumps 🥰 It's made it feel super real and finally feel comfortable telling our families. Official due date is now 28th March 👶🏼

Also, on the constipation convo! I have been moving very slowly since 6 weeks. My midwife said it's due to the iron in most prenatal vitamins. From my chats with other pregnant friends, pregnacare is known to be the worst for it! I'd really recommend everyone get something over the counter of midwife prescribed sooner rather than later though. In pregnancy you're already more susceptible to haemorrhoids etc, you really don't want to be pushing constantly!!

Ellsx6 · 11/09/2024 16:47

@veggiebuns congratulations lovely💕

lipgoss · 11/09/2024 16:48

Amazing news about your scan @veggiebuns!

That's interesting about the Pregnacare; that's the ones I'm taking, which my midwife knows, and she's also got me on an additional iron supplement 3 times a week - said they give them to everyone as matter of course, then might ask me to take the iron more frequently if my levels were low.
Happy to take both but no wonder it's causing issues!

Ellsx6 · 11/09/2024 16:50

Sorry if this is tmi for any of you but we didn't have sex until past 12 weeks. We was just too nervous just incase anything got 'disturbed' we've started having sex again twice a week for the past few weeks and the next day after each time I've had jelly like discharge. It's happened every time so no doubt everything's probably fine as I've had a scan after it's happened and baby's okay but just wondering if anyone who's having sex on here is experiencing similar? I read that you can dislodge parts of the mucus plug but it will regenerate more in these earlier days but still hearing I'm dislodging my mucus plug is scaring me!

What colour is it? If it’s clear or white, it should be fine. If it’s brown or blood stained, your cervix could have been irritated slightly?

Ellsx6 · 11/09/2024 17:00

@Jellybelly888 it's mainly clear but occasionally a tiny bit yellow tinted. It has no odour and I've been checked for an infection twice when I've mentioned it to gp and midwife but nothing come back in my urine test or bloods of an infection. I don't think I have an infection anyway as I've always had clear or a tiny bit yellow tinted for years when I've had discharge. I don't usually get discharge after sex before pregnancy as much as I can remember. Or maybe I did and just didnt pay attention because I wasn't pregnant
