Hi all,

had my 12 week scan - and as expected we are measuring behind (which we have been since week 6)

we measured at roughly 11+1 - scan day was 12+3

any success stories?

my sonographer was awful … just awful. Was offended we asked any questions / gave us one worded responses etc. just insane

feeling deflated

We've just had our gender scan, based on my NHS scan I should have been exactly 15 weeks but baby was measuring 14+2. The sonographer was so lovely, she said it's perfectly normal to see fluctuations of around 1 week

ChristmasJumpers · 31/08/2024 10:35

Gender scan complete. We're having our second baby GIRL!! I can't believe it 🥰🥰🥰 two sisters 2 years apart 💕

RaineyNina · 31/08/2024 10:51

Just a quick message to say I had my emergency gynae scan on Wednesday for the right sided pain I was getting, showed baby was in the right place and heartbeat detected so I'm so relieved! It did show I have a bulky right ovary where the pain has been and they've made a note to recheck it at my official dating scan on Monday 🤔 2 days to go 🥳

Has anyone got any recommendations for good skin creams - my joints feel like the skin has gone massively dry, almost to the point of splitting like my hands do in winter?

Anything I could put in tne bath?

Aveeno is really good, and cetaphil do a body lotion if you have sensitive skin, my eczema has flared up on my hands which is so irritating

Ellsx6 · 31/08/2024 10:59

How many weeks did you have your gender scan? X

Ellsx6 · 31/08/2024 11:02

@Patientlywaiting7 when you say measuring behind do you mean they've always measured a week behind or all of a sudden starting to not grow everyday as they should? Do you get what I mean? In the beginning I went to a '6week scan' and was told I'll miscarry as there was nothing there. Turns out I ovulated a whole 2 weeks later than I should have. I don't know how or why but it can happen..

Ellsx6 · 31/08/2024 11:43

14 week scan complete. A second sonographer to confirm it's a very obvious boy! 🩵 delighted! X

Yeah I remember being 5w5d at 6w2. And the same at 10/11 weeks also. Yesterday’s scan showed growth comparatively from the previous week but just abit anxious. Who knows!

lipgoss · 31/08/2024 13:27

Sorry to hear you didn't have a great experience @Patientlywaiting7.
I wouldn't be worried about your dates and measurements though, if baby is growing at the right rate for the time between scans. I'm the same as @Ellsx6 and started a week behind but growth has been consistent so nobody has been concerned

lipgoss · 31/08/2024 15:58

Just had my combined screening result through the post, low chance no further action ☺️ Pleased to have that confirmed and another positive under our belts!

i mentioned this above but my little one always measured a week ahead - despite being an ivf pregnancy. She would have needed to implanted before she was even transferred for those dates to make sense ? So it’s definitely not an exact science.

Ellsx6 · 31/08/2024 19:37

@Patientlywaiting7 baby's can measure differently each time due to position. Ours have always jumped back and forth but as long as there is growth and a present heartbeat I've always been told it's fine. Did the nhs book you for a rescan since you was too early for screening test (if you opted for them)

Ellsx6 · 31/08/2024 19:37

@lipgoss how long did the results take? We had our screening test done 9 days ago and still nothing in the post. Feeling stressed even though it's probably okay!

lipgoss · 31/08/2024 20:22

@Ellsx6 I had the scan/bloods first thing in the morning on 20th August. One letter is dated 21st Aug, and then a second one the 23rd. They were sent out from my midwife unit rather than the hospital, and hand signed/addressed, so I guess has just been taking time to make it way through various people. But that was 11 days all in, so hopefully yours will come soon!

GlitteringCat · 31/08/2024 20:24

Anyone proper noticing a bump yet? Feel like I’ve gotten suddenly bigger the last few days and it actually looks round. I sized up my pants but they’re getting too small now too. Do people just continue to size them up? (I wear the high granny type 😂).

Also my pregnancy pillow arrived and I’m in love! 🩷

Mine were added to badger after 6 days. I’m meant to get a letter too and it’s been 5 days since they went onto badger and nothing yet. I didn’t expect them to be on there as they never usually update the blood results. They told me though if any issues we’d get a call pretty quickly so waiting a while is likely positive!

I'm officially in maternity jeans and leggings now as my belly is quite rounded but my legs stay twig like (plus noticeable lack of bum) so bigger jeans just look a baggy mess on me 😂

PlumpHobbit · 01/09/2024 10:33

I'm stewing over what I'm going to say to work- what have other people said when needing time off for scans?

I didn't realise the Downs etc tests take a few days I thought you found out there and then- my scan is Friday and I was hoping to if all clear tell my boss on Monday, but Will now need to await the Downs test

It's early afternoon so I'll be missing about 2.5 hours of work - I dont really want to make up time, as I don't believe I have to for pregnancy related appointments, however they won't know straight away that it is (unless they have suspicions)

Do I just say I have a hospital or doctors appointment? 🫤

PlumpHobbit · 01/09/2024 10:58

Or shall I just tell her and ask its kept strictly confidential until I've got all the results back?

I would do this, it won’t be an issue to do that. Or certainly shouldn’t be with a manager even half decent!

My bump is so obvious now 🤣 12w1d and looking the same as I did last time around at about 18 weeks! I absolutely love having a bump again but it is making it very tricky to dress so as not to have people notice 😅 we’re going to tell people after the next scan, a week tomorrow, once we know we’re all good… as much as you can know anyway. So far just my mum and siblings and my husbands parents and one of his brothers knows. (And my best friend but 🤫)

@PlumpHobbit yes I'd do this. Just say it's not something you wish to be shared yet and ask strictly to be kept to herself

I’d do this. My work you’re only entitled to the time off for pregnancy appointments if you actually let them know otherwise it’ll be put through as something else which I guess they can’t help. I told my manager at 6 weeks but obviously expected them not to tell anyone else. At your scan you’ll be told if the fluid measurement is okay or not (anyone I know has been anyway). They told me my blood results would be 1 - 2 weeks but were added to badger after about 6 days.

StampOnTheGround · 01/09/2024 16:53

@PlumpHobbit I've just said I've got a hospital appointment and my manager didn't ask any more - just said it's fine!

I'll tell him if all goes well at the scan and after the screening tests have come back!

Ellsx6 · 01/09/2024 19:50

If this isn't your first pregnancy, when did you first feel baby? 14 weeks and im laying down and felt a weird few like bubbles sort of below my belly button..probably gas or baby? Feels strange but im probably being hyper alert because im pregnant🤣

My first I felt baby at 20 weeks, but that was with an anterior placenta so it takes stronger movements to feel anything!

This time I'm 15 weeks and yet to feel anything although I sit and hold my breath all the time to see if I can feel anything yet. I had a gender scan yesterday and baby was moving sooo much on the screen and I couldn't feel any of it 😂 I can't wait to start feeling little movements
