@Ellsx6 amazing amazing amazing! Hoping to see a healthy baby tomorrow! If you don’t hear from me it’s probably not great news! But here’s to hoping!

Ellsx6 · 29/08/2024 11:42

@Patientlywaiting7 it'll all be fine I'm sure💕good luck!🍀

sannax · 29/08/2024 12:49

Ellsx6 · 29/08/2024 11:00

@Patientlywaiting7 'after seeing a heartbeat at 12weeks, there's 97% chance you will have a healthy full term born baby' is what my consultant said! She also mentioned not all of the 3% of them baby's don't make it, it includes baby's born pre term or born with illness too which most survive! Xx

This is so reassuring. I’m a little further behind than everyone else (10 weeks) and worried about worrying even after the 12 week scan! Has anyone had to tell work yet? I’ve tried to hold off despite feeling so sick 🤢

veggiebuns · 29/08/2024 12:55

@sannax I'm 9w3, due 31st March! So very likely I'll end up with an April baby. I've told my boss, as me and my partner work at the same place and they're quite close. So he picked him as the one person he wanted to tell early on. Has actually been really helpful him knowing as he's been understanding of me needing some days off and also helped me get out of some work nights at the pub!

Kind of dreading other colleagues finding out as everyone is so nosey and are definitely the types to push for details and want constant updates!

InvisibleDragon · 29/08/2024 12:56

@sannax I'm 10 weeks too - I told my direct manager at work, as I wanted her to understand why I was less productive than usual. Haven't told any other colleagues or the official management chain yet!

sannax · 29/08/2024 13:04

I’m wary of telling work because I’m miscarried before and it was super awkward having to tell them…although one of my colleagues must have seen my anti sickness bands.

Trying to survive a 12 hour nhs shift today…only 8 hours to go 😬.

I’m definitely far less productive though

That is so tough and also my big fear. How far along were you? So sorry - hoping you have a successful pregnancy! ❤️

InvisibleDragon · 29/08/2024 13:23

@sannax - my feeling (also NHS) is that I'll need work to be understanding if I do have a miscarriage, so having my boss know I'm pregnant is helpful either way. Only because she's supportive and I trust her though!

In my first pregnancy I had to tell work very early because I was working partly in forensic mental health services and I didn't want any unnecessary risks. It felt so awkward because I was really new to the team though!

Mrbay · 29/08/2024 14:28

@hopefullyTTC2x - on your scan letter, is there a number for the scan department? If not, check your hospital's website and call the department directly. They should move you forward, especially now you have the updated scan dates.

Regarding skull, depending on how clear your scan is, depends on how clear the image will be.

I've told work now and friends, as I have a very noticeable bump and there isn't way I could hide it any longer.

Regarding waiting to buy stuff - life happens and you don't know what is around the corner so enjoy buying new pieces! However, don't do what I did last time and not keep a list - I went mad with clothing and had to donate some before my daughter arrived! This time, I am only buying baby grows with zips and cardis - outfits were wasted last time as I saved them for special occasions which never really happened! lol!

lemonyfox · 29/08/2024 14:38

@Ellsx6 I understand some people's superstitions, but buying something for the baby early has never cause anything bad to happen. What will he will be, whether you buy early or wait til the third trimester.

I bought a new pram travel system at 10 weeks 😂 only because I saw an immaculate second hand set off someone locally on fb and I didn't want to miss out on it.

So buy whatever, go crazy! Don't listen to other people's judgement.

LV1987 · 29/08/2024 15:05

I'm 10 weeks 4 days, and told my "boss" a couple of days after we found out. There were a couple of reasons for this - firstly we're Co-Directors of the business so professionally and personally, it felt like the right thing to do. Secondly, as I'd had time off for IVF, he obviously knew we could potentially be pregnant so it felt less stressful to let the cat out the bag early! The wider team are still in the dark and luckily, because we are all remote workers, don't seem to have noticed me disappearing off for naps 😂

Quick Question for those that have had their dating scan / have had their appointment letter through for this, how long after your booking in appointment were you waiting for the scan letter to arrive? I've had my Rhesus test results back today (negative so further tests recommended), but still waiting for a scan date.

Ellsx6 · 29/08/2024 15:22

@lemonyfox my mother in law has bought our travel system as the one we wanted had £300 off in sale so obviously it's a no brainer. I'm glad because it arrived yesterday and we took it out the box to check everything was there and we hate it in real life so it's going back for the bigger version as this looks like a dolls pram!🤣🤣
Imagine if this happened at 30 weeks!! The stress of sending it all back and reordering😃

Ellsx6 · 29/08/2024 15:23

@LV1987 after my booking appointment I had my scan letter come through 2 days later. After my dating scan the same again 2 days and it was here for the 20 week scan

HappyGoLucky31 · 29/08/2024 15:24

Hi everyone,

sorry I’ve been a bit MIA. Was just very worried when at the beginning of the week I had bleeding - again and sometimes I’m uber suspicious and feel like if I post or say I’m actually pregnant, it’ll tempt fate. So stupid.

12 weeks scan today, so amazing. EDD of 08/03/2025 - March does not seem so far away at all.

as for gender suspicious I just feel boy. Already have one boy and my cravings and pregnancies have been so similar so far - very few symptoms apart from cramps at night and I’ve become exceptionally lazy!!

think baby’s skull is a bit blocky too. What do you guys think?

@Patientlywaiting7 wishing you all the very best for tomorrow darling. No one knows what a mum before the 12 week scan goes through. I feel like everything will be fine lovely 💙🩷

in terms of school, I told work before (my HOD and HR manager) due to my early bleeding and I had morning off for in the last week of term for a scan but the last time I was pregnant, I was only in work for 8 weeks before lockdown so this is going to be a new experience.

hope everyone is okay :)

I brought a couple new baby wraps right before I started IVF as a hope purchase/fueling my addiction -depending which way you want to look at it 😂 but since I’ve been pregnant I’ve been too anxious to buy anything - although second baby so I don’t really need anything (sling and boobs is basically my fix all) . Was going to get some more newborn nappies but thankfully my friend said I can use hers . Reclaiming my cloth bum mum title!

12 week scan booked for 11w6d which I’m worried is going to need to be repeated since it’s right on the cutoff and baby might be small for accurate measurements but they’ve assured me they’ll just rescan if needed and I can see baby again. On the positive side, having it suddenly booked for a week away gives me less time to stress about it.

Ellsx6 · 29/08/2024 15:44

Does anyone feel like there in a weird limbo stage now there past 12 weeks? Like you've hit the milestone you wanted to so bad, you made it to your dating scan , your symptoms are all gone and you feel great again and now you're just waiting..no bump no movement just feeling like my belly's bloated and tender. I don't even know how I feel! Just weird and strange is all I can describe it as!

Definitely :)

im trying to think that how I feel a bit better and that September is coming in, I can get back into more of a routine. Might go swimming one week night, I’ll be busy during the day so I can’t just eat eat and eat and slob around!

I remember last time the time between both scans absolutely flew, not going to wish it away this time 😋

GlitteringCat · 29/08/2024 17:05

Has anyone thought about maternity leave yet? I had a work planning meeting today and for my job need to plan months in advance staffing etc. my thoughts on maternity leave came up and I’m really not sure. I’m due end of Feb and love the idea of taking the last of my AL over Christmas and then being finished (would be 33 weeks). But I realised if I did this that I’d be back at work before my little one would be 1 and I’m not sure how I feel about that! This is my first so it’s all new to me.

lemonyfox · 29/08/2024 17:38

@GlitteringCat I finished at 36 weeks in my first pregnancy because I was so tired and done, so I'd like to think I can do the same this time. I think a Feb/March baby is a good thing timing wise too, as it'll be the new year when I plan on going back in 2026 after 9-10 months off 😊

sannax · 29/08/2024 18:36

Took 2 weeks of annual leave with my first from 36 weeks (mat leave planned from 38 weeks) and he arrived at 37 weeks before I’d even hit maternity leave. I was working from home due to covid so don’t know if I’ll be able to wait till that long this time round.

First time my bump was tiny too and I felt like I had so much energy in the third trimester. But this time round I think it’s going to be big bump.

lipgoss · 29/08/2024 19:10

I'm intending to finish up mid Feb on annual leave and only start my maternity on the 2nd March, for a due date of the 4th, to maximise time off once baby is here, then will have accrued holiday to take after my mat too, to hopefully take my past their 1st birthday.
And then that's not too much of a slog coming back after Christmas either.

Hoping I'll manage working until then but my work are pretty flexible so I'll definitely be able to work from home if I need to, and also move it earlier if I'm really struggling.
I work in payroll, so can basically just plan the dates out however suits me best! 😄

Unrelated but got home from work today and hubs had ordered me a pregnancy pillow as a surprise, the bbhugme one 🥰 Hadn't even dropped any hints, but had been swithering on when was the time, so pleased to have it now, looks so comfy!

Ellsx6 · 29/08/2024 19:26

Self employed here and work at a desk from home so will work for as long as I can to minimise how much money I'll lose while I'm off being a mum! Even if it's just for a few hours a day..I've not put no pressure on myself for a set date so that's a plus of being self employed and I have no idea how long I'll be off for yet. I was thinking to go back pretty soon just for 2 half days a week as I can still see to baby if I'm home anyway but I'm unsure how I'll actually feel about that at the time

MOLWI · 29/08/2024 19:29

Ellsx6 · 29/08/2024 10:23

@26dX she hasn't had any private or nhs scans yet so perhaps she's more anxious than me to start shopping and that's fine but she then went on to say just because you've had plenty of scans doesn't mean the baby couldn't have died after a scan like are you crazy?! No longer a friend anymore! Some people just don't know how to speak to a pregnant woman..
It's not about money id be heartbroken either way whether I spent or didn't so let the fun commence of getting ready for the baby is my opinion😅

What on earth is wrong with some people?!? Sorry you had to hear that! I wouldn’t have known how to respond haha!
if it makes you feel any better I’m only 13 weeks and already bought a bassinet because I saw someone nearby selling a snoo on marketplace for an absolute steal! Haha

Ellsx6 · 29/08/2024 19:54

@MOLWI me and you both I was stunned!🤣😫
That is me with sales!! If I see something I grab it!! I totally understand some people don't want to but it's no one's judgement as to when you should or shouldn't start buying it's a personal choice. Personally I support everyone in anything they choose to do for there baby. Also learning baby's are very expensive so I need to spread the cost!😅

100% with spreading the cost! I wish I was wiser with my first and got a pram that could adapt to be a double so I didn’t have to buy an entire new one this time! That’s my advice to anyone who’s having their first 🤣
