@RaineyNina I'm not sure how intense your pains are compared to mine but throughout I've had cramps on and off dull aches period pains the lot and the baby's always fine at my scans. Usually if not paired with blood it's fine! X

@IMBCRound2 Thankyou for the help! I've never had a uti in my life so don't know if it's harmful to baby or anything and i guess I may be over exaggerating but being a first time mum to be every single thing is scary and I get worried if it's not treated it won't end well😅

IVF pregnancy here- I fully get the anxiety ! I was sobbing my eyes out when I broke my foot in case it hurt the baby - the nurse was trying so hard to say ‘ your foot and your uterus aren’t even remotely the same system’ without making me feel like a total idiot. Alfhough I did get a giggle when my notes said ‘ patient is 30 minutes pregnant ‘ - the nurse was all ‘that is incredibly specific ‘ 😂😂I have literally no idea what the 111 call handler meant when she wrote that note.

ChristmasJumpers · 28/08/2024 14:38

Does anyone have a strong suspicion on the baby's gender? I am so sure we're having a boy, but I have no reason, just a strong feeling. Like I would put money on it, I'm so sure 😂 It's almost like my mind has turned it into fact!

Last time I had no such feeling, I just hoped for a girl (and got very lucky). This time, I have no preference but just some weird intuition. We find out on Saturday!

I haven't as such but my husband is adamant that it is a girl. We had a scan at 6 weeks and he said as he saw the screen he though it was a girl. A close friend of mine also told me that she thinks I'm having a girl and seemed very certain on her thoughts that it a girl! My MIL also thinks girl.
This definitely feels like a different pregnancy from when I had my son, will be interesting to see if they are all right!

@ChristmasJumpers I've thought boy from day one. Had a private scan at 13+2 and the man said 'he's showing himself already' I'm pretty annoyed about it because I already said I have a gender scan booked elsewhere for 15 weeks. As he was scanning he kept saying he/him and then said..I can confirm that gender at 14 weeks if you want to come back it's very obvious what it is already..then he did a potty shot and we all see it obviously looked like a boy..I wanted a boy anyway but it's ruined our reveal in a way as we are both sure of what it is. I doubt the man's wrong either as his had his own clinic opened since 2005 and has been doing scanning for 30 years between nhs and private..oh well! Happy and healthy so it's not the end of the world but will still go to our gender scan to double check x

ChristmasJumpers · 28/08/2024 17:24

@Ellsx6 that's a bit rubbish. With all that experience, he should know to ask carefully if you want to know before telling you! I would love to already know ours, I am not patient in the slightest 😂

lipgoss · 28/08/2024 18:18

I keep thinking of the baby as a she but I don't think I really have a feeling, have just defaulted to that.
We're not planning to find out though, so a long time until we can confirm!
Is anyone else not finding out?

How's everyone finding the midwife service? I'm really unimpressed tbh. Mine is still paper notes but I've been in 3 times now and they write nothing in my notes only in the notes they keep for themselves. They don't call me for my urine results or blood results either and there's no app to check. I call them after waiting a week with no answers. Today my urine sample had infection cells in and I was told it was sent straight down for further testing and they will call me by 3pm to let me know the results ..5pm and they've not called me. I'm not even surprised anymore. What info are people getting in there pregnancy notes? What am I missing out on in other words!

I'd second what @GlitteringCat said, Badgernotes isn't any better. I had bloods taken at my booking appointment on 17th Aug and I still haven't had anything updated on the app! It's pretty useless. I've also had my 12 week scan appointment added to the app but there's no location on it 😅

lemonyfox · 28/08/2024 18:21

@ChristmasJumpers I'm feeling like this is our second boy. I had a strong feeling with my first and I'm getting the same now.

Every other person who knows we're pregnant says they think it's a girl though because my nausea and all the crappy symptoms have been so much worse this time than in my first pregnancy!

ninaballerina12 · 28/08/2024 18:29

I think this has been mentioned on the thread already but have any of you looked into nub theory with your 12 week scan? I posted mine on a FB group called Strictly Nubologists and they have said early girl (with small chance nub could develop and be boy). It’s supposed to be fairly accurate but we’ll see! I have a DS already so a little girlie would be great this time but of course just want a happy and healthy baby at the end of the day!

I’m not finding out at all and specifically asking for sonographers to not say anything. If it all works out, which I’m hopeful about, I want it to be a surprise. I feel like very little surprises me these days so it’ll just be a wonderful feeling 🥰

I did and they said early girl but I was only 11+5 so I'm taking it with a pinch of salt. For some reason I just don't believe it, I probably won't believe them this weekend at my gender scan if they say girl either 😂

Ellsx6 · 28/08/2024 19:44

@ChristmasJumpers all the nub theory people said boy too and had barely any symptoms which my mum said was the same with her 2 boys but loads of symptoms with both her girls so I sort of had a very strong feeling and idea! The man we went to was more of like an actual health of the baby more looked into rather than the novelty sort of places that can't give medical advice. We see the spine stomach brain in depth hands and feet it was amazing!! So it was still worth it even if he did ruin our gender reveal a little🤣🤣

IMBCRound2 · 28/08/2024 19:52

not finding out but all the women in my family go girl, boy , boy …. so it feels written in the stars (I know that logic isn’t even remotely scientific!! )

lipgoss · 28/08/2024 20:05

@Patientlywaiting7 that's the same as my line of thinking, about being surprised. That and that my mum said when she was overdue and fed up with me, knowing that at least she'd finally get to find out soon kept her going!
I just hope it's not super obvious even to an untrained eye in subsequent scans - I've heard a few people saying it was extremely clear that they were having a boy!

Patientlywaiting7 · 28/08/2024 20:09

@lipgoss im with your mama on that one. I’ve had about 5 scans (my 12 week scan is Friday morning) and every scan I’ve been in I have a quick glance but don’t stare too long - mostly because I’m super anxious and don’t want to jinx anything. My husband films everything so I do watch back but it’s all so small on the phone screen so hopefully I can’t tell! Have you had your 12 week scan yet? How far along are you?

lipgoss · 28/08/2024 20:40

@Patientlywaiting7 Yes, I had my 12 week scan last week on what ended up being exactly 12 weeks, so am 13+1 today. How far along are you?
Hope your scan on Friday all goes well ☺️

Patientlywaiting7 · 28/08/2024 20:45

@lipgoss ah congrats on moving past 12 weeks. I’m meant to be 12+1 but defo defo measuring smaller - I saw on previous scans I’m about 4-5 days behind. So far everyone has said not to worry. Hoping it goes ok!

lipgoss · 28/08/2024 20:59

@Patientlywaiting7 fingers crossed for you! I measured a whole week behind my LMP based date at my first private scan, and then when I went to the 12 week I was still a week 'behind' but 4 weeks growth on from the first scan dating, so all was well.
Sure it'll be the same for you 🤞🏻

Mrbay · 28/08/2024 21:14

I wasn't planning on finding out baby's sex, as my daughter was a surprise until birth and the most amazing feeling.

All babies are girls so until 12 + 5 they can show as girl and then show theirself fully as a boy at 12 + 5.

My scan was at 12 & 1 and sadly, I didn't say to be careful around their bum as I'm not 100% sure I want to know but the scan was so clear that you could see everything. Actually feeling disappointed that I won't get a surprise this time.

Plus the skull is pretty easy to read for sex too.

How do you read the skull?
Im waiting the NIPT results but flip flop between thoughts on sex

Same, mine is quite clearly a boy from skull

PolePrince55 · 28/08/2024 22:18

@UncharteredWaters
If it's round like the moon it's a girl, if it's block like- boy

hopefullyTTC2x · 28/08/2024 22:43

I'm guessing mine is a boy again. I felt it from the start as it seemed the same as my first pregnancy with my DS. I've not had much sickness at all luckily, lots of nausea and the fatigue is something else but I'm guessing that's just down to pregnancy with a toddler. Skin is also terrible and hair etc but I'm using the progesterone pressies so they are probably contributing to some bits.

My '12 week' scan is actually just before I'm 14 weeks. I'm so worried I will be later than I think and miss the opportunity for the testing. I'm 41 so at higher risk and still have the worry of there not being a heartbeat or something having gone wrong over the past few weeks. I can't shake that feeling. I've tried to move the appointment and get the scan a week earlier but they haven't come back to me. Trying not to get too involved in the groups yet because of the worry of something going wrong.

MarchingOnwards · 29/08/2024 07:25

Can’t believe I’m actually writing this, but after two MMCs we finally had a healthy and positive 12 week scan yesterday! Baby was measuring 12+1 and sucking their thumb ☺️ Feels like a huge weight has been lifted, especially since my symptoms were minimal and very similar to my previous pregnancies.

We couldn’t do our screening measurements as the baby wasn’t lying properly so think I’m going to pay privately for NIPT instead of waiting to 16 weeks for the Quad test on NHS. Anyone else in the same boat? X
