This has worked for me this time! 😊

Muffin101 · 27/08/2024 07:42

Oh it worked!! Maybe I’ve been being too slow 😂

ChristmasJumpers · 27/08/2024 12:11

It's worked for me today too, I've requested to join 😄

Mrbay · 27/08/2024 12:49

Hey Everyone

How is everyone?

Are you moving over to the Facebook group or staying here a little longer?

m00ngirl · 27/08/2024 12:57

I don't use Facebook so will just be on here

Ellsx6 · 27/08/2024 14:19

@Mrbay I'll be staying over here..I use my Facebook for work so easier to keep separated for me:)

Onthedouble123 · 27/08/2024 15:21

@Mrbay I'm happy to straddle both! Xx

PlumpHobbit · 27/08/2024 15:27

Will probably join the FB group but want to wait until my first hospital scan next Friday, as after that I can hopefully tell more people if all OK. Just in case there's anyone I know in here!

Mrbay · 27/08/2024 15:31

Cool - I'll stay on both :)

Patientlywaiting7 · 27/08/2024 16:08

@Ellsx6 thats really great news. Try not to panic about the test results. I’m sure you’ll be fine and it’s all a really really small chance for all of us. I know it’s hard not to focus on that and I’ll be the same though. My 12 week scan is on Friday and I’m petrified that nothing will be happening/ or limited growth etc. I think Im
measuring smaller than others. I’m really short (5ft) and my hubs isn’t huge either so I’m hoping it’s just genes. I don’t think it’s a bad idea with furniture and stuff - do what you’re comfy with. I’m not going to buy anything until after 28 weeks. But I have cleared the spare box room and we’ve painted it and put new floor boards down. Gonna keep it empty for now! Also when I had my scan last week the doctor mentioned the dangerous part in relation to miscarriage is up to 14 weeks. So I’m going to assume and go with the 14 mark!

Ellsx6 · 27/08/2024 16:47

@Patientlywaiting7 after loads of back pain and hip pain I had my consultant appointment today anyway and she sent me for a quick scan and baby was fine she said she doesn't really have an explanation for my pain but to call back if it's unbearable hoping it'll ease up! Measured 13+2 as it should with heart rate of 162!

I hope your scan goes well! Keep us updated xx

How's everyone finding the midwife service? I'm really unimpressed tbh. Mine is still paper notes but I've been in 3 times now and they write nothing in my notes only in the notes they keep for themselves. They don't call me for my urine results or blood results either and there's no app to check. I call them after waiting a week with no answers. Today my urine sample had infection cells in and I was told it was sent straight down for further testing and they will call me by 3pm to let me know the results ..5pm and they've not called me. I'm not even surprised anymore. What info are people getting in there pregnancy notes? What am I missing out on in other words!

Ellsx6 · 27/08/2024 17:00

@Patientlywaiting7 also consultant today said after seeing heartbeat today at 13+2 there is 97% chance I'll have a healthy baby born full term which is amazing odds and really likely not to have a problem now..I should relax now!

I’ve got badger notes and to be honest don’t think they’re any better. My results are never updated so no clue what they are and I don’t get appointments or anything through it. Other than my booking appointment info there isn’t much on there. Only plus is I don’t have to carry around paper notes!

GlitteringCat · 27/08/2024 17:51

Got my screening blood results today and they came back low risk for everything. Feeling so relieved that I could only cry!

That is so useful to know. I wonder what the rates are for me! I’m just 12 weeks today. Sorry to hear about your midwife service. For me it’s been quite good. I’ve actually had a consultant on top of my midwife and he is really attentive and thorough. All is digital on our end so I see my results instantly and if they don’t call me I’ll call them and they’ve been quite responsive. Just keep at them and hopefully they pay more attention especially with your anxiety. Xx

I've got the mycare app and so far it works great for me, appointments and scans come through on it and my midwife adds notes afterwards that I get on there. I also got all my results back from my blood test/urine/POCT, so far it's really good. In terms of my actual midwife.. she doesn't seem the most interested in me at this stage. My booking appointment was so quick, felt like she was just ticking it off to get it done, not because she cares much. But seemed more interested in seeing me at 16 weeks

So I’m biased because I’ve decided my midwife is probably my new favourite human 😂

I have paper notes for both my pregnancies . in my last one they only wrote things as the pregnancy progressed because at this stage there isn’t much to write - eg no measurable fundal height , Doppler heart beat etc.

Booking appointment (for me anyway) was just me answering questions so there was no new info other than baby might be on the smaller side which she said verbally because it’s literally just a guess at this stage based on some of my answers/the fact I’m small/my daughter is on the 0.5th centile.

if you think about it - you never really get notes when you go to the GP so this isn’t any different- if you aren’t medically trained your notes might not make any sense to you and that could potentially cause more anxiety when it doesn’t need to. Some of it might not even be relevant to you but is relevant to their clinical understanding.

I never got results unless it was abnormal/warranted action my midwife said that would be the case this time. So no news is good news!

Ellsx6 · 27/08/2024 19:49

@IMBCRound2 the problem is my results do actually have a problem and I'm not told. I find out 2 weeks later when I decide to call to check then they'll say oh yes this and this. First urine sample had small amount of protein present.. didn't know until I called up 2 weeks later then they decided oh yes take these tablets then as a precaution for this and this. Then the same with my bloods - only mentioned I needed to take a tablet to up my iron once I'd called and asked. Today urine sample has infection cells in. They tell me it's going to the lab for further testing and I'll hear back by 3pm today as they think I need antibiotics. No call back! I think I have a UTI and have been suffering for a few days with pain and it seems I'll only get help or an answer if I contact first. I feel guilty like I'm harassing them but if I don't I don't get any help. I just feel awful today I was sent for a scan after all the pain and the baby's fine so it must be an infection🫠

So with me - they said they only raised protein as an issue after a two or more samples, same with iron. It may have changed but I was told at the time they wait because it could be a momentary dip or an off day and they don’t want to pump you full of medication if you don’t need it . It’s possible they only followed up because you chased it whereas other people might wait . (For me I prefer to avoid medication in pregnancy as much as possible but that’s a personal choice. I’m up to my eyeballs in antibiotics after breaking my foot and am absolutely devastated because it can impact baby’s teeth … it’s weird things like that which means I’d rather wait and check it’s actually needed!)

I’m very seriously anaemic and only get the call when they can’t figure out how I’m actually alive 😂 it’s also fairly consistent despite medication whereas my daughter only needs additional iron meds sporadically (eg she was teething so didn’t eat as much as usual so her iron dipped really momentarily) possibly if someone have had morning sickness, they might have temporarily low iron which could resolve once they start keeping food down- and it’s not worth the constipation and stained teeth!

Ellsx6 · 27/08/2024 20:53

@IMBCRound2 would you Chase if you thought you had a UTI and was in pain? Im high risk so maybe they don't wait around if I need a tablet for something im not sure..this is my first time and I just listen to them. I left it for 2 weeks last time as I felt fine and no pain but I am actually in pain with this suspected uti. I'd also like to avoid antibiotics where possible but I'm worried if I don't get this treated it may get worse and affect the baby..

RaineyNina · 27/08/2024 21:31

Feeling nervous... booked in to emergency gynae tomorrow for what feels like ovary pain which I've had on and off the last 4 days. Just got back from my holidays today and rang pregnancy assessment unit for advice/reassurance who sorted this appointment out. I'll be 11+5 tomorrow, not had a scan yet, honestly so nervous can't stop thinking about it. I'll be at work all day too before my appointment, anyone got any relatable stories that turned out positive or words of reassurance? I did have a large cyst surgically removed on the same side earlier this year so I'm hoping it's just scar tissue maybe that's hurting more?

Absolutely - I just meant with the iron/protein they told me they wait for two abnormal results so I wanted to reassure you that it might have been normal you weren’t given those in the first incident.

with the uti I hope they get back to you quickly - those things are awful! I hope you can avoid antibiotics - for some reason they triggered so much nausea for me- but they are literally lifesaving so I’m glad they are available even if I have been complaining about them all week! I have no idea if it’s actually helps but I’ve been taking probiotics (helps with ivf apparently so was taking them before) but might be worth a shot alongside the antibiotics ? I think you can get specific vaginal health one.

Ellsx6 · 27/08/2024 22:34

@IMBCRound2 Thankyou for the help! I've never had a uti in my life so don't know if it's harmful to baby or anything and i guess I may be over exaggerating but being a first time mum to be every single thing is scary and I get worried if it's not treated it won't end well😅
