Anyone else due January 2025?

I’m coming up to 16 weeks with my second. This time seems to be flying by as life is much busier with a nearly 2 year old!

Luckily, felt pretty much fine the whole way through so far, albeit being tired. However, I was diagnosed with GD and currently diet controlled, which is bit of a bummer.

How are you feeling?

Glad your scan went well @Surpriseno4! how exciting with another girl!

Surpriseno4 · 21/08/2024 20:42

Actually just looked out my daughters baby clothes since we are having another girl and she had mostly tiny baby for first few weeks and then newborn - now I think about it I don’t think I actually used 0-3 on her until she was about 2 months old . Even now she’s almost 15 months and 9/12 still fit her perfectly ( she has been my biggest baby so far aswel). It’s difficult as you don’t really know until baby is here but I found that if certain clothes were too big they looked ridiculous especially sleepsuits and just not practical.
Thank you @Firsttimetrier my 2 girls will be close in age as they grow up together which will be so lovely but I have to admit - and I am so truly sorry if this offends anyone - but my husband and son are both absolutely gutted and they are not hiding it . My husband says he is just really disappointed but he will love her all the same. I honestly didn’t mind either way but now I just feel so deflated by their reaction .

Uguberry · 22/08/2024 18:11

@Surpriseno4 @Noodles4Me @Firsttimetrier Thank you for the advice, especially about the potential risks, very interesting and useful! Sounds like a good mix is the way to go.

@Surpriseno4 I'm so sorry they've taken away your joy about your little girl. Your son I can understand hoping for a brother (I always wanted a sister) but your husband doesn't need to react like that openly, of course he will love her!! Does that make it 3 girls for you? 🥰 We are 90% convinced ours will be a boy since there are so many in the family but we'd absolutely love a girl. Glad everything they could check was fine and though annoying you have to go back you get to see her again so soon 😊 And I'm not in the UK, the clinic here does things at slightly different times. I couldn't afford to be off work there 🙃 so we moved country to start a family.

Surpriseno4 · 22/08/2024 19:53

@Uguberry thank you! Yes 3 girls , my son is the oldest - he’s already feeling better about it today thankfully ! My husband has been sending me a list of names all day ! But I’m still so hurt by his reaction yesterday .

aww well that’s the best reason to move ! It is so expensive- I had to cut back to part time after my youngest was born -it was the best option as full time and paying for childcare wasn’t worth it - there would be no point in working !

Uguberry · 22/08/2024 21:59

@Surpriseno4 Ah how lovely! Sounds like they are both more enthusiastic about it now. Really sweet he's excited about names already. Could it be he just liked the idea of an even 2 of each rather than really having a preference of boy/girl?

Yep that was the reasoning, self-employed and worried about how much time I'd take off and letting down clients, and I'd only have been rushing back to work in order to pay for childcare so someone else could look after the baby I'd hardly get to spend time with. There were other pros too, the plan being to save up and return eventually after traveling and living in a few different places along the way 🙂

ChirpyTurtle · 25/08/2024 16:33

Hi everyone, how are you getting on today?

I had a busy one last week which meant I slept better (including on the sofa in the evening) but also had less nausea which was good. In general though I’ve been waking up about once in the night to go to the loo and struggling to get back to sleep.

I’ve bought a new pair of trousers to wear as all I was fitting into was joggers 🤣 it feel like mostly bloating though rather than actual bump!

lovely to hear scan news @Surpriseno4! They had me shimmying about at my 12 week scan because baby was too comfy and they couldn’t see anything! I hope the one next week goes ok!

Firsttimetrier · 26/08/2024 07:00

Hey @ChirpyTurtle hope you are having a nice bank holiday weekend!

I’m doing well over here, but getting a bit exhausted! I think being pregnant with a toddler is taking its toll as he’s non-stop from around 6am until he goes to bed at 7.30pm 😅. Hoping I get the 2nd trimester energy boost soon as I’m 21 weeks now!

How are you?

I also need to start getting some maternity bits. My bump has suddenly popped and a lot of my normal trousers are getting uncomfortable!

BeLemonQuoter · 26/08/2024 11:19

Does anyone else goes swimming? I have been planning for a while, but either I was too exhausted to do it. I anaged to squeeze myself into the swimming costume ( @Firsttimetrier contrary to you i have popped in the first trimester, even though if it was just bloating at that time) and I really enjoyed it.

I found the coming out of the water part really funny, when my organs started to obey gravity again :D

BigDeanWinchesterFan · 26/08/2024 14:32

I've been enjoying swimming but it seems to be making my hips worse afterwards 😕

Anyone else a bit fed up and done already? I just want it to be January already :(

92Char · 26/08/2024 20:03

Had my anatomy scan today and everything looked good, so I am relieved! Having a baby girl 🩷 21 weeks tomorrow and it's feeling more real and closer now!

BeLemonQuoter · 26/08/2024 20:08

Congratulations @92Char

ChirpyTurtle · 27/08/2024 08:40

Thanks @Firsttimetrier I had a nice weekend! I’m exhausted too and I don’t have a toddler, I feel for you!

I’m going away this weekend and will go swimming while I’m away, have bought a slightly bigger costume so will see how I feel getting out the water @BeLemonQuoter Interested to try it after your description of your organs facing gravity again!!!

sorry you’re feeling rubbish @BigDeanWinchesterFan whats wrong with your hips? This is my first and I’m enjoying the process so far, must be difficult if you’re in pain ☹️

Congratulations @92Char! Lovely news!

Firsttimetrier · 27/08/2024 09:08

@BeLemonQuoter I’ve been swimming whilst we went away but highly recommend it when you are closer to your due date as it’s so lovely to feel light again 😂

I’ve been slowly increasing the amount of exercise I’m doing in the hope that I’ll feel more energetic. I’ve been taking it very slow after a long break, but I’m so surprised how hard a Peloton class feels!

Hi everyone hope it's ok to join?

I am due 18th January so I'm nearly 20 weeks which is surreal! I already found out it's a boy but have my NHS scan next week.

Second trimester seems ok so far, apart from backache at night I'm feeling pretty good. Although eating healthy hasn't been going well so it feels like I'm rapidly expanding in all directions!

Still trying to exercise a bit (nothing compared to normal levels) but it's getting tougher each day. Swimming is a good idea and I'm hoping to venture down to the pool next week.

Will anyone be doing an NCT or equivalent type course? FTM and thinking it's a good way to make some mum-friends near me for the crazy times to come.

Firsttimetrier · 27/08/2024 13:46

Congratulations @Sarah268 and welcome!

I did antenatal classes with my first and we’re all still really good friends 2 years later! We’re actually all going camping next weekend together and meet up most weeks if we’re not working. So I really recommend doing them.
I’m actually a bit gutted they don’t do them for second time mums as it was nice to meet some local mums who were going through the same and also have someone to go to classes with/meet for a coffee.

OP posts:
Sarah268 · 27/08/2024 15:14

Ok that's good to know. Will have to convince my husband next 😅

Just starting to look at all the things you need to buy and it's a long list! Prams are an absolute minefield... anyone else had any thoughts on which they might buy? @Firsttimetrier assume you can reuse some stuff from baby no.1!

Firsttimetrier · 27/08/2024 15:46

Prams are a minefield! We’re London based, so have city prams (Babyzen Yoyo and Bugaboo Bee) and would recommend the Bee, but hate the Yoyo and it’s only used for the nursery runs as it folds down small enough for their pram shed.

We did find it’s impossible to find a pram that does everything you need, so you may end up with two prams like us 😂

OP posts:
Noodles4Me · 27/08/2024 18:04

Prams are crazy aren’t they? We had a second hand iCandy with baby one so going to get an ex-display iCandy with baby 2. Failing that, a Silver Cross ex-display - I absolutely refuse to spend more than £700 on a pram! 😩

BigDeanWinchesterFan · 27/08/2024 18:27

@ChirpyTurtle not 100% sure, it doesn't sound like pelvic girdle pain but I can't do anything for too long (sitting/walking) or I get very stiff/sore and they are very achey. I had it much later with my twins so I'm thinking WTH buy second pregnancy everything seems to ramp up. It's more just getting fed up with feeling fed up but I was extra grumpy.over the weekend 😂

Hi @Sarah268 👋 hope you're doing OK. Definitely recommend some kind of antenatal thing, I did aquanatal aerobics and it was the best 60 minutes of the week and I'm still friends with almost everyone, we spent pretty much everyday together on mat leave and meet up regularly in the holidays now or go for adult only weekends away or take all the kids to Haven. I didn't do NCT but everyone who did still has all their friends too and still meet up now :)

@Noodles4Me 100%! It's a crazy amount of money. We went secondhand first time which worked out well and then my sister has given us her pram which is pretty fancy :) Boots sell prams for pretty much best price if you have an advantage card and the points add up quickly, particularly if you get extra point coupons.

I had my consultant appt today - depending on position of placenta, my c section may be booked for Christmas week! Massively rethinking my Christmas shopping strategies!

Sarah268 · 27/08/2024 20:22

@BigDeanWinchesterFan ok definitely sounds worth doing. I’ve signed up to a pregnancy yoga too despite being awful at yoga but hopefully meet some people! Interesting to know about the Boots prams- hadn’t thought of looking there.

@Firsttimetrier yes I’m already resigned to the fact that I’m going to need at least one pram 😂😭 going to need a good off-roader for local walks and runs (which I imagine will end up filthy) but then something smaller for normal use. Been browsing for some second hand deals but again… a minefield!

Amazing that we can keep them alive with nothing but our bodies for 9 months then when they pop out the amount of STUFF they need is mad 😂

Firsttimetrier · 27/08/2024 20:50

@BigDeanWinchesterFan that’s exciting you may have a Christmas baby! I have a feeling I’ll end up giving birth around Christmas Eve or Day as my first was 2 weeks early and my due date is the 4th Jan, so good possibility!
We’re meant to go to the in law’s for Christmas, which is 45mins from the hospital, so might be able to do it!

OP posts:
Sarah268 · 28/08/2024 13:02

Honestly I think a Christmas baby would be so lovely 🥰 I’m genuinely quite gutted that my baby’s first Christmas won’t be for nearly a year! I know it divides people but I absolutely love that time of year.
Also gutted I’m going to be the size of a house and unable to drink any fizz!

Firsttimetrier · 28/08/2024 14:06

Had a consultant appointment this morning to discuss my birth plan as I want to go for a VBAC.

Apparently I’m a good candidate and should have a 70% chance of success.

Anyone else going for a VBAC? Or had one for those who are 2+?

OP posts:
Uguberry · 29/08/2024 21:42

Hi everyone, hope you are all doing well 😊

Curious to know what shapes your bumps are so far? Mine is still super low and starting to stick outwards more so I don't think it will end up neat and round! I recently told a close family member about the pregnancy, who affectionately asked if it looks like I've swallowed a planet, but I think a tyre would be more accurate.

MrsNT · 30/08/2024 18:33

What is everyone buying for January baby? My first one was a summer baby so would be in a half sleeve vest and sleevesuit and cotton swaddle at bedtime

For January, as it will be cold I was thinking full sleeve vest, cotton sleepsuit , and sleep bag with blanket on top if needed. Do we need fleecesleepsuit??
Anyone with experience of winter new born babies??
