Anyone else due January 2025?

I’m coming up to 16 weeks with my second. This time seems to be flying by as life is much busier with a nearly 2 year old!

Luckily, felt pretty much fine the whole way through so far, albeit being tired. However, I was diagnosed with GD and currently diet controlled, which is bit of a bummer.

How are you feeling?

Thanks @Firsttimetrier I’ll get stocked up on the pads, and at least I know in advance about the sweats now!

@unknownscot Congratulations on the arrival of your little one. It sounds like you’ve had a stressful time of it, glad you’re both doing ok now, hopefully you get to go home soon!

@Skl2021 I’m still waiting! No signs yet….

Did they not tell you to try again on a different date? When i have been induced and there full they told me to ring back like next day etc.. is baby big is that the reason for induction? You don't have to accept induction so I guess it's up to you and the reasons there pushing it x

Congratulations @crazycatgal! Sounds like it went differently to how you expected, but in the end what matters, like you say, is that you and the baby are safe and well.

Personally I have found there is a lot of focus on birth plans and birth choices these days, and I got really into researching all this and thinking about what my ideal birth would look like early in pregnancy. However my plans gradually clashed with reality... at 20 weeks I was told I would likely need a caesarean (large fibroid blocking my cervix essentially), at 35 weeks was told it would need to be a vertical incision and at 36 there was discussion of me having to go under general anaesthetic (luckily I had a super anaesthetist who agreed to do a regional anaesthetic). I had written out a few birth preferences (naively hanging on to them) but once I was there I realised that the choices were basically choices for the doctors to make on how to get the baby out safely and minimise my blood loss, which was huge... So yeah not the birth I would have chosen at all, but in the end, my baby is here, I am recovering, and that is what matters.

Hoping these sorts of stories can be reassuring for anyone whose birth doesn't go to plan, it is sometimes just impossible to plan for.

Well said. While of course it's important to arm yourself with all the information available and have an idea of anything you definitely would or wouldn't be up for, with such a tragic history of women and childbirth throughout time we are so lucky to have options today. I think most of those women would have jumped at the chance for medical intervention to ensure their and babies' safety.

My little girl arrived yesterday via c-section after 32 hours of labour. Waters broke first so there was nothing left by the end, contractions had been constant and strong but almost no dilation, then baby's heartrate was suddenly jumping between scarily low and way too high, so I said I just wanted her out right then. Complete opposite experience to what I had in mind! But she is doing great and I'm actually feeling good too.

@crazycatgal Congratulations on your little boy ❤️ Mad to go from waiting so long to a quick series of events like that! Hope your recovery is going well. Am I right to assume from your name you have cats who have recently met their new little bro? I have a super duper sweet and chill guy but I'm worried he will be absolutely terrified of a baby 🙈

Met baby boy at 3:28am last night.. had to have an emergency c section due to several failed inductions.. so exhausted and can barely move with these stitches but hoping to heal soon and words cant describe the relief i feel having baby finally by my side ❤️ Gooduck everyone x

Firsttimetrier · 28/01/2025 09:36

Congratulations @Mama2b99! Enjoy the newborn bubble and I hope you recover soon.

Take all the pain meds offered to you and also make sure they offer you laxatives as the post section constipation is real 😂

How’s everyone getting on? I had my baby 6 weeks ago now, and it’s been a whirlwind!

BigDeanWinchesterFan · 16/03/2025 19:00

9 weeks old here and pretty good except I'm certain my nipples are going to fall off 😅 ok otherwise. How's things with you @ChirpyTurtle?

Firsttimetrier · 17/03/2025 03:01

Congratulations @ChirpyTurtle how are you getting on?

I had my little one 10 weeks ago and we’re getting there. Think the hardest is adjusting to being a family of 4, but think we are slowly getting there! It’s so lovely to see the toddler and newborn bonding and seeing the little one smile at my eldest.

11 weeks old today! Baby boy would not wait for January!! All going good, getting into some form of a routine, does between 4.5 and 5.5hrs for first sleep of the night. Feeds, then back down for between 2 and 3 hrs sleep! Wish these were longer but definitely better than it was! Occasionally he starts his "big sleep" too early in the evening so working on that!

Uguberry · 17/03/2025 19:52

@BigDeanWinchesterFan I had bad damage from the first few weeks and had the same thoughts! Nipple shields saved me - can't recommend them enough if constant feeds aren't allowing you time to heal.

@Firsttimetrier That's so lovely your two are bonding already ❤️

Hope everyone has been recovering well. I was lucky to feel myself again quickly, but my body is suffering more now from weeks of sitting upright all night because she won't ever let me put her down 🙃

ChirpyTurtle · 18/03/2025 09:31

I’m doing ok thanks! Its nice to hear how everyone is getting on ☺️

I’m a first time mum so the whole thing has been a bit of a shock to the system, but I’m slowly getting to grips now (I think!) @Firsttimetrier I absolutely can’t imagine having two! Must be lovely seeing them interact!

I hear you about the nipples and backache@BigDeanWinchesterFan and @Uguberry I just can’t get the latch right, it’s very hit and miss. He’s gaining weight though so that’s the main thing. I also think my pelvic floor may never recover..the exercises don’t seem to be doing anything.

He had been sleeping like your LO @ttcnumero1 but seems to be going through a fussy patch the last couple of days and not settling well. Hopefully will improve soon!

Happy birthday to all the January 2025 babies...hope you all are well
