Anyone else due January 2025?

I’m coming up to 16 weeks with my second. This time seems to be flying by as life is much busier with a nearly 2 year old!

Luckily, felt pretty much fine the whole way through so far, albeit being tired. However, I was diagnosed with GD and currently diet controlled, which is bit of a bummer.

How are you feeling?

@MrsNT I think it’s the WhatsApp but they’re not accepting anymore people.

I also had a summer baby a few years ago, so hardly anything is the right season! I’ll probably get a few packets of long sleeve vests, plus things like a pram suit.

Need to go through all my bits and sort it all out what will work for a Jan newborn. Will have a big Vinted session as I got way too many bits 😂

@Firsttimetrier I got some stuff out of storage today and was disappointed to see so many items had turned yellow even though I had washed before storing and were kept in plastic good quality storage boxes!

Everlore · 17/08/2024 02:44

I had a healthy BMI of 22 before I got pregnant and I didn't gain anything at all in my first trimester, which the midwife assured me was perfectly fine. I have been eating very healthily throughout my pregnancy, lots of fruit and veg, but not been counting calories like I did before I got pregnant and allowing myself a treat if I fancy something I'd have felt guilty about eating prior to my pregnancy! I haven't been weighed in the second trimester yet and I have been trying not to weigh myself at home during pregnancy as I know I have a tendency to fixate on my weight and I just want to focus on eating well for our baby without worrying too much about my BMI. My clothes don't feel much tighter, though I do live in dresses. I'm starting to develop a slight bump but it isn't visible under normal clothes. Still, my scan on Monday showed baby is growing well and so I'm trying to focus on that rather than my relative lack of bump, though it's hard not to obsess about it!

I think this is quite common as I once ordered a bundle off Vinted and lots had yellow stains on there. The seller, and a couple of friends, explained it can happen if kept in storage and there’s baby sick marks which have been washed. I gave everything a good wash and all the marks disappeared, so might be worth trying?

@Everlore just to add some reassurance, I’m pregnant with my second and 20 weeks today. Most of the time you couldn’t tell I was pregnant as my bump is barely there. Looking back at photos from my first pregnancy, I didn’t have a bump until 24 weeks.

I thought I’d show more this time around as that’s what I’ve always heard, but guess I’ll pop in the next few weeks.

@Uguberry gutted for you that you don’t have regular access to salt and vinegar crisps! Unfortunately for snack hiding my husband is quite handy with the hoover and so the cleaning cupboard is not an option 😂

@Noodles4Me I’m the same, I’ve not had the energy to do much exercise apart from walking. I half heartedly looked up some pregnancy friendly videos on YouTube but haven’t actually tried any of them yet. I’m quite keen to try a local pregnancy yoga class, but it’s also something I’ve not got round to yet…I’d be interested if anyone has tried yoga during pregnancy what they think of it.

BigDeanWinchesterFan · 18/08/2024 11:57

I've looked pregnant for a while which has not been great but I wonder if it shows more because I'm bigger, as everyone keeps telling me 😅 and it's second pregnancy (twins previously so completely wrecked my skin, ab muscles and pelvic floor)

Anyone gpt any good exercise for hips? Completely struggling with hip pain much earlier this time.

@ChirpyTurtle I didn't but my sister did and loved it and that's also where she made most of her mat leave friends :)

Uguberry · 18/08/2024 19:24

@ChirpyTurtle Lucky you 😅 Sock drawer? Hopefully they don't pick up any smell!

I've been doing yoga since the end of last year following YouTube classes, not in person. It's not prenatal yoga, I've tried some in the past and didn't feel like they did much for me. Maybe I'm fussy, I have to really like the instructor to want to keep going back and I've finally found one I love, it's well explained and easy to adapt within your own limitations. I only struggle with deep twists or some positions on the belly as bump gets bigger and more uncomfortable but I'm sure I can keep finding ways around this. I'd definitely recommend anyone try it, definitely helps me physically and mentally. @BigDeanWinchesterFan there are lots of flows out there to help with hip mobility so it may be worth a go with something gentle to begin with and see how it feels

Hi all,

Due 18 Jan 2025

What Gender are you having boy or girl,

Can't wait to 20 week scan

Firsttimetrier · 19/08/2024 13:11

Congratulations @Hellen786!

Just had my 20 week scan this morning and found out we’re having a boy.

I’m so, so shocked as this pregnancy is SO different to DS. With my first, I was sick and nauseous until 16 weeks, this time I’ve had nothing bar one week of nausea.

We’re struggling to agree on a boys name and only had 1 with my son, so can’t even use anything from our previous list!

When does everyone have their 20 week scan?
Are you finding out? And those who do know already, what are you having?

Uguberry · 19/08/2024 13:48

@Hellen786 Congratulations 😊 I'm due around the same time

@Firsttimetrier Lovely news 💙 Glad everything is going well. My scan is at 19 weeks on Weds and I don't think we'll be finding out. The nonsense gender signs I've done for fun make it 50/50 so it's anyone's guess!

Surpriseno4 · 19/08/2024 13:48

Congratulations on your 20 week scan @Firsttimetrier ! How lovely you are having another boy . Just shows you that every pregnancy is different even when it’s the same sex.
I know what you mean with the name , when I was having my almost 15 month old I really struggled as I had already given the only boy and girl names I’d liked to my son and daughter!
I have just started feeling the baby move this past week ( 20+1) but I still don’t feel pregnant even though I have a huge bump ! My scan is on Wednesday and I’m super nervous. Just hope all is ok . My DH is really hoping for a boy but I have a feeling it’s another girl.

Hellen786 · 19/08/2024 14:15

@Uguberry what are you having boy or girl x

ChirpyTurtle · 19/08/2024 15:08

Congratulations @Hellen786 and congratulations @Firsttimetrier on your scan news! 💙It is amazing how different each pregnancy seems to be!

We are not going to find out what we are having but only have girls names we like so far. Boys names are difficult! My scan isn’t for a few weeks yet, have had to delay it slightly due to going on holiday. I’m feeling nervous already, know how you feel @Surpriseno4! Are you going to find out on Weds?

Thanks @BigDeanWinchesterFan and @Uguberry for the yoga inspiration, I will investigate if there’s a class in my local area as I’d like to try and make some mat leave friends!

Surpriseno4 · 19/08/2024 15:23

@ChirpyTurtle we weren’t going to find out this time but now it’s coming up to it we have decided we are too impatient so if they can tell us we want to know! The main thing is that all is well with the baby . I hope you have a wonderful holiday - the best reason to delay a scan

ttcnumero1 · 19/08/2024 15:37

In my hospital, they do the 20 week scan between 22 and 25 weeks...so I have a bit to wait. Scan is when I'm 22+6 so 4 more weeks to wait!!

Firsttimetrier · 19/08/2024 15:56

Thanks all! I’m going to be outnumbered by boys but looking forward to DS having a little brother. Let’s hope they get on like a house on fire when older 🤞🏽

@ChirpyTurtle we had agreed on a girls name and found it a lot easier for girls, but we have different taste for boys, which is making it difficult!

BigDeanWinchesterFan · 19/08/2024 16:55

Definitely going to find out, this is going to be my last so I want to get sorting and organising and not sure I can as thoroughly without knowing boy or girl. I think girl as pregnancy has been very different but who knows 🤷‍♀️

Two of the same is lovely here, they are very good friends. But friend of mine has one of each close in age and that seems to work well too 🤷‍♀️

Surpriseno4 · 20/08/2024 19:29

Hey everyone how are we all today ? Is anyone having trouble sleeping at night ? I wake up because I need to go to the toilet then I find it takes an hour sometimes to get back to sleep - it’s a horrible feeling . I’m then up early getting the older two to school and I have my 15 month old , then I work in the evening. I’m really struggling . Hope everyone is well .

Uguberry · 21/08/2024 08:39

@Hellen786 We are leaving it as a surprise. Do you know/will you find out?

@Surpriseno4 Hope all goes well with your scan today. I don't sleep well but I'm lucky I can catch up in the day, at night my pulse is so strong it's loud enough to keep me awake. Can you get any naps in while your 15 month old snoozes?

Turns out today was just another quick check and the full anatomy scan isn't done til 23/24 weeks at my clinic so I have to be more patient!

For those already with kids, what size baby clothes do you recommend having ready for their arrival? I've heard lots of babies won't even fit in newborn clothes or only for a short time. So far I have just picked up a few cute things in second hand shops in a mix of sizes so not spending much on things we may not use. What are the cons of babies wearing clothes that are slightly too big - do they slip out, will they be uncomfortable, or does it not really make a difference?

Yes, my sleep for the last week has been horrendous. I keep blaming my husbands snoring!! But really, I just keep waking and can't get back to sleep. I have always had a dodgy bladder, so getting up to go to the bathroom during the night is not new to me, but I'd usually fall straight back to sleep!

Surpriseno4 · 21/08/2024 11:18

Thank you @Uguberry my scan is at 1pm today and also have my vaccination for whopping cough. Aww I’m so nervous! I do try to go for a nap with my daughter but she is napping much later in the afternoon when I need to get my older daughter for school ! On the occasion she does nap earlier I’m taking the opportunity to clean the house ! I’m my own worse enemy. I actually had a better sleep last night as I was so tired .
On the clothes front - all my babies so far have been quite smallish - the biggest being 7lbs 2oz so they were all in newborn clothes which were really big for the first 2-3 weeks , they all moved over to 0-3 months around the 4th week . My advice would be to get some newborn clothes for first few weeks as most people will buy you 0-3 months but that’s just going on my own experience. I’m unsure what newborn would be like on for example a 9lbs baby . That’s interesting that your trust doesn’t do the anomaly scan until later . I would be so impatient but I’m sure I seen someone else post that theirs isn’t until later .
@ttcnumero1 so sorry you are going through this too - it’s really hard

I think babies under 8lbs tend to fit into newborn sizes. But they literally only wear them for two weeks! 😂

I just bought the first thing for this baby, just a knitted baby grow. I’m not buying anything else til close to due date. Thankfully don’t need much as it’s my second boy so re-used is the way!

Surpriseno4 · 21/08/2024 15:06

Well I had my scan - it’s another girl ! All is well with what she could see however couldn’t get a good look at the heart and kidneys due to position so I need to go back next week for another scan .

Firsttimetrier · 21/08/2024 19:57

@Uguberry I had the opposite with my first compared to what others have mentioned and we needed some tiny baby vests when he was first born, then was in newborn for a month or so before going into 0-3 months. He was 7lbs 3oz at birth, so not tiny, just long and skinny.

I think having clothes too big can be a smothering risk as things could ride up and go over their mouth/nose.
