Anyone else due January 2025?

I’m coming up to 16 weeks with my second. This time seems to be flying by as life is much busier with a nearly 2 year old!

Luckily, felt pretty much fine the whole way through so far, albeit being tired. However, I was diagnosed with GD and currently diet controlled, which is bit of a bummer.

How are you feeling?

We are ok. I had a very intense quick labour without induction at the end. DD born by 8am, she is brilliant. I got some large secondary tear and heavy bleeding . I will write more details in a few days

Uguberry · 09/01/2025 22:49

@BeLemonQuoter Great to see your update and that you didn't need the induction after all. Congratulations on your little girl ❤️

Just wanted to share happy news that our baby girl was born last Friday 3rd, we are so delighted.

It was a planned caesarean for medical reasons but we had some additional complications, so spent 5 nights in hospital and we are now back home.

Thought I would share as I remember a few people here feeling quite anxious - I guess it depends on your hospital but we were so well looked after by all the staff, couldn't be more grateful.

Hi mommies

Anyone have extreme stabbing pain in crotch/pelvic bone or lightening pain as it's called? Does that mean baby's head is engaged.??

I've had this for quite a few weeks and baby is not engaged yet so no, not necessarily

ChirpyTurtle · 10/01/2025 23:49

Congratulations on your baby news @BeLemonQuoter and @whenthelevee ! Glad you are doing ok!

@MrsNT I’ve not had lightening crotch (yet) luckily, sounds horrible!

unknownscot · 11/01/2025 11:09

I was sick once during the night last night, feel so deflated and done in. Wishing labour would start!

Sarah268 · 11/01/2025 14:30

Congratulations to all on your precious newbies!

Im 39 weeks and honestly don’t even feel remotely close! Bump still feels high, no Braxton Hicks etc.

Getting so impatient 🤣

I just - Edit:well yesterday night - come out of the hospital too after only 3 nights @whenthelevee, and I can say the same about hospital staff. I am very grateful for every one of them, for them training for years and help people everyday on every different level from saving lives or just picking up something that is unreachable for you.

crazycatgal · 11/01/2025 22:08

Congratulations to everyone who has had their little ones so far!

I'm currently 40+3 with my first, went for a sweep on Thursday and was 2cm dilated, have lots of pressure and a couple of mild cramps here and there but nothing else. Very fed up now!

Mama2b99 · 12/01/2025 04:16

Hi everyone its just a quick question (prob abit silly really). I am 39 weeks pregnant and have in the last couple of days noticed my lower tummy seems to have become really soft below my belly button? above there is still hard but then just seems to go soft (almost like a saggy overhang) a few weeks back it was super hard like the rest of my bump but recently just feels a little jellyish!

Anyone know what this might be?

Uguberry · 15/01/2025 21:50

@whenthelevee Sorry very late but congratulations!! I hope recovery has been smoother since you've been home. Glad you had a good experience with your hospital care 😊

@Mama2b99 It may not be the same for you but my belly is usually softer in the lower half I think because of baby's position and so much more pushing and pressure at the top from their big bum...

@crazycatgal I understand being fed up, I'm feeling so impatient! Has little one made an appearance yet?

Is anyone else overdue? That's my due date just been and gone, with no real signs of anything yet. Husband keeps telling baby how annoyed he is they're keeping us waiting 😂

Little boy made an appearance today at 41 weeks!

Went in for an induction as an outpatient at 8am. By 3pm I was sure I was having contractions and these were every 1.5 minutes, I called triage as I couldn't cope, they asked me to come in to see if the pessary was making me overactive. Waters broke as I reached the hospital. Rushed straight to theatre due to little one's heart rate. Baby arrived at 4:59pm, luckily just avoided an emergency section and delivered in theatre with an episiotomy but avoided forceps.

Not the birth I wanted at all but baby is here and healthy and that's all that matters!

As @Uguberry said, sounds like it could be the position of the baby maybe

Congratulations @crazycatgal! Sounds like it went differently to how you expected, but in the end what matters, like you say, is that you and the baby are safe and well.

Personally I have found there is a lot of focus on birth plans and birth choices these days, and I got really into researching all this and thinking about what my ideal birth would look like early in pregnancy. However my plans gradually clashed with reality... at 20 weeks I was told I would likely need a caesarean (large fibroid blocking my cervix essentially), at 35 weeks was told it would need to be a vertical incision and at 36 there was discussion of me having to go under general anaesthetic (luckily I had a super anaesthetist who agreed to do a regional anaesthetic). I had written out a few birth preferences (naively hanging on to them) but once I was there I realised that the choices were basically choices for the doctors to make on how to get the baby out safely and minimise my blood loss, which was huge... So yeah not the birth I would have chosen at all, but in the end, my baby is here, I am recovering, and that is what matters.

Hoping these sorts of stories can be reassuring for anyone whose birth doesn't go to plan, it is sometimes just impossible to plan for.

@crazycatgal Congratulations! I’m glad your baby is here and healthy!

@unknownscot good luck, I hope all is going smoothly for you (as can be!)

@Uguberry I’ve still got a week and a half until my due date, no signs of anything yet, it’s my first so I guess we will wait and see when they decide to make an appearance!

Bit of a silly question with regards to waters breaking…I know they don’t always come in a gush, but I’ve bought a new bed very recently, and don’t want to stain the mattress if they do gush…from your experience should I be sleeping on a towel or something as a just in case?

Firsttimetrier · 17/01/2025 15:30

@ChirpyTurtle I got a pack of mattress protectors from Amazon and they work well for the postnatal sweats too!

OP posts:
ttcnumero1 · 17/01/2025 15:46

@ChirpyTurtle I noticed something wasn't quite right and got myself out of bed so the gush happened on my pj bottoms/bedroom floor instead of on the bed! I actually thought I was pushing out a pee and jumped out of bed thinking I was peeing myself!! Strangest feeling, but mine was definitely a gush, my pj bottoms were soaked from top to bottom. And if you aren't aware yet (I wasn't), your waters can continue to leak all the time until you give birth. I almost went through a full pack of maternity pads before I'd even given birth!!

ChirpyTurtle · 18/01/2025 11:28

Thanks @Firsttimetrier I’ve ordered some. I hadn’t even heard of postnatal sweating?! How long does it last for?

Thanks @ttcnumero1 I'm going to go out today and try to get some more maternity pads, I’ve only bought one packet so far and think I’ve massively underestimated!

Who said motherhood wasn’t glamorous 😂 are there any other things you guys have bought for postnatal comfort/leaking? I’ve got breast pads and disposable knickers for the first few days but now I’m wondering if I’ve missed anything else?

Firsttimetrier · 18/01/2025 14:04

@ChirpyTurtle I can’t remember how long the postnatal sweats lasted last time, but I’m day 15 and the night sweats are still hanging about!

I’d also stock up on loads of maternity pads if you can. I think I went through two packets of the Boots ones in the first week and I had a c-section without contractions, so bleeding so relatively light. I’m now using period pads as it’s much more manageable!

Breastpads are a great shout. I leaked a lot last time and needed loads but don’t need them this time around. Maybe because I breasted for 15 months last time and boobs remember!? No idea.

Aside from those things, I don’t think I’ve needed anything else!
