Hi All, just back from my last scan and consultant appointment. I'm booked in for induction this Thursday, first thing unless she comes before or they ring to cancel.

Holy moly...by the weekend I'll have a baby!! This is all very surreal now.

@MrsMoggy take care of yourself, nearly fainting in the supermarket is a sure fire sign you're doing too much too soon 🫶🏻

@BakeOffRewatch we've had a name for around 3 months now. I showed DH my top 5 (with my fave at the top) ages ago and he just started calling it her (I wasn't sure he'd go with it initially) it was lovely to hear him say it so it's stuck. Will let you know at the end of the week 🩷

Is everything okay do you know yet? @PinkWatermelon88 ?

BakeOffRewatch · 20/08/2024 11:31

Haha I’ll wait.

Thank you, the term incontinence bed mat did bring up more appropriate products. Prefer Boots for the click and collect convenience and points. Did anyone use their TENS machine? www.boots.com/boots-pharmaceuticals-staydry-disposable-bed-pads-12-pack-10129944

I used a TENS machine last time and found it great! Funnily enough I’m just about to pick up some replacement pads to use this time too. I just bought a boots own brand one but I’ve seen them on fbmp and vinted if you didn’t want to pay full price for something you might not use

PinkWatermelon88 · 20/08/2024 13:48

Jerking @BakeOffRewatch didn’t even think of toxicity!!! Maybe best stick to birth ones or layers of towels!

@MudandMoet im still here pet. The babies movements slowed and they were concerned. They’ve since picked up thank god. Where my smallie head butted me is also so sore internally so they’re going to scan me just to make sure all is well. I’m 36w today. At this stage they think it’s soft tissue bruising and since it’s been 16+ hrs (major placenta issues usually happen within 4h of trauma) and baby is moving with good heartbeat we should be fine but they’re not 100% yet. Keep us in your thoughts xxx

PinkWatermelon88 · 20/08/2024 13:48

@BakeOffRewatch i typed jeekist but the auto correct got me good 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

MudandMoet · 20/08/2024 13:54

@PinkWatermelon88 sounds like all is fine but better to have the scan to double check, definitely- keep us posted.

SantasRubiksCube · 20/08/2024 16:57

Hi all just checking in, 37+5 here and I'm sooooo tired all the time. I feel bad that the kids are nearly back to school and I had it in my head I'd be doing loads of fun stuff with them before they go back but I honestly could just doze on the sofa all day 😂 to be fair they have had a good summer break but the tiredness has just hit me.

BakeOffRewatch · 20/08/2024 17:15

Same here @SantasRubiksCube , I’ve been trying to make the most of the summer with my toddler, last time just us two with hot weather and paddling pools, when she actually wants to spend time with me and the best day is ice cream. I am absolutely exhausted though.

Very impressed with everyone’s ability to keep up with the thread and multiple posters!

Daphnethinks · 20/08/2024 17:15

@MudandMoet oh my gosh how exciting! Hope all goes well with the induction and you have baby in your arms soon 🩷

@PinkWatermelon88 hope everything went ok with the scan sounds like everything is ok but definitely did the right thing getting you and baby checked out! What a drama between you can't wait to be back home.

BakeOffRewatch · 20/08/2024 17:18

@PinkWatermelon88 it didn’t say it on the Wilko website at the time, did say it was toxic on the packet in store. But yeah I will stick to things intended for humans. Maybe @mrsbgb will have some leftover lol.

I will look on Vinted for TENS. People keep saying it doesn’t cost much but if you are planning on unpaid maternity leave, can really do without the maybe purchases.

PinkWatermelon88 · 20/08/2024 17:41

home pals! What a rollercoaster of a day! At they were worried about the babies movements as baby slowed when I got to a&e but then when they scanned me they saw fluid was very low (7.5 score). I’m back with the midwives and the a&e tomorrow for more anti d protocol/check ups and I’ve another scan this day week. If fluid is still very low they may induce me next week 😭

SC126 · 20/08/2024 17:49

@SantasRubiksCube 37 weeks here and can totally relate. I'm knackered. My son is so understanding but I've been trying to get him out the parks, soft play etc so we ain't stuck in all day everyday but its starting to get repetitive. Hes also having way more than acceptable screen time and I quite frankly dont care. I am grateful for the time I've had with him though.

HRP1990 · 20/08/2024 18:16

I had my homebirth appointment today and I’m really considering it! My partner will support me either way but I think he’s abit traumatised from our first and thinks it’s best to be in hospital with everything readily available if needed. I on the other hand think that could have been the problem to begin with. If a problem arises, you’re transferred to hospital way before that..Ultimately it’s my decision, but I’m grateful to have the option of a homebirth if I decide to. 37 weeks tomorrow 👀

BakeOffRewatch · 20/08/2024 18:22

Ah sorry you have to go back tomorrow @PinkWatermelon88 , also glad to hear they were happy to let you go home. It’s tiring going back and forth to the hospital at this stage.

Same here @SC126 , we’ve just watched a Postman Pat episode and some Bluey after nursery whilst DH makes dinner. We had a big day out yesterday so I give myself slack on days I’m working.

Glad to hear your Homebirth appointment went well @HRP1990 and that it made you feel confident and comfortable. I get the most shock from men I know, because they’re all clearly remembering their wives births and the drama of the interventions. If you’re low risk and it’s your second, and you’re near the hospital, it’s really no more dangerous.

Xur · 20/08/2024 18:23

@PinkWatermelon88 I’m just wondering why did they account for 7,5cm as low amniotic fluid. Mine was 7,4cm largest pool at 36 W scan I was told it’s normal. Looking at the internet it says less than 5 is considered low.

Yes exactly! And I totally get it, but if we’re at home and can avoid those interventions I think this experience will completely heal the previous ones 🙏🏻

PinkWatermelon88 · 20/08/2024 18:31

@Xur they said 5-25 is normal range but classified mine as very low when compared to my other scans. I had been tracking along the median line but since my last scan I dropped quite a bit.

Emmaev · 20/08/2024 19:06

Does anyone know when a 40 week growth scan might be arranged?

Im 38+1 and heard nothing about it? Do they arrange it last minute just in case you go into labour before? I’ve had absolutely no indication that she’s coming anytime soon. I won’t be induced unless medically necessary (which it hasn’t been at the moment) my other scans have come through really quickly.

I have a feeling that she’ll arrive later as they push my dates forward when I know for a fact when she was conceived. Unless a positive at 5dpo is accurate 😂

BakeOffRewatch · 20/08/2024 19:14

@Emmaev a midwife told me that most babies come in the 41st week when the pregnancy is low risk and no intervention is needed. I didn’t have a 40wk scan first time around, they didn’t do a 36 either that became standard for everyone recently in our trust. Usually if you need a scan it’s arranged for the next day. After 42 weeks they ask you to go in daily.

They don’t change the noted due date after the 20 week scan though.

RosiePH · 20/08/2024 20:53

Had an absolute nightmare with the furniture we ordered from the Baby Show. The company have been awful to deal with and I ended up having to get my bank involved for a refund as they couldn’t deliver the items. They did deliver me the mattress, so we bought another cot, and have just unpackaged the mattress. It’s got what looks like a blood stain on?! I just know if I contact the company then they won’t help and I just don’t know what to do. Will it be okay if I just wash the cover?! Can I buy a new cover from somewhere?

My BP is through the roof again and I am now on weekly monitoring for it. I just feel so stressed by everything.

BakeOffRewatch · 20/08/2024 21:02

Contact your bank again. I feel like things like the baby show and time limited discounts are such a con. I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with that, I’d feel the same stress.

Your SAD FART rights are explained here with a section on how to make them pay,
https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/consumer-rights-refunds-exchange

Tools and templates how to complain are here
https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/how-to-complain/

Easiest way is to get the money back from your bank though.

What’s the cot size is it standard? You can use any right sized mattress, John Lewis AnyDay, Little Greene Sheep, Snuz.

RosiePH · 20/08/2024 21:17

@BakeOffRewatch in the contract it says we have 4 days from delivery to reject goods if they are faulty. We’ve had it in the packaging for about 2 weeks now but we didn’t open it as we were waiting for them to deliver the cot to go with it. They couldn’t fulfil that order so we ended up cancelling and having to re-order a cot from elsewhere. But I don’t think they can contract themselves out of consumer law?!

It’s just all a massive stress and has spoilt the experience of getting ready for baby!

DH said he will speak to them tomorrow and if they won’t help then I will open another dispute with my bank. And we’ll just buy another mattress. If I don’t get a refund I will just give this mattress away as some people might be happy with it, but I dent relax at this point.

BakeOffRewatch · 20/08/2024 21:18

Doesn’t it count as distance selling? And no that contract won’t get them out of the SAD FART rules.

RosiePH · 20/08/2024 21:25

@BakeOffRewatch i don’t know if it will as we did order in person at the Baby Show however I am not sure if we saw the mattress at the show or not. But I think you have the right to a refund with a faulty item even if you buy in person?

And I think it meets the criteria for faulty as it’s stained and I don’t know with what (does look like blood judging by the way it’s pooled a light pink around the brown mark) and that could have caused mould spores which I can’t see. And it’s just gross from anyone’s mattress, let alone a newborn’s.

BakeOffRewatch · 20/08/2024 21:28

I don’t think it qualifies as “as described” or “fit for purpose”.

Xur · 21/08/2024 05:59

@RosiePH I’m so sorry you have this experience, I was worried about ours aswell. We bough from baby planet at the show and then I saw the reviews and thought oh boy, they won’t get delivered, but they did. The carriage/car seat came in 3 weeks and the snuzpod with everything came in another 2 weeks time and luckily nothing is faulty. But the thing is that as far as I understand the expo is just an expo, and what is at the expo is for visual purposes only, that is not the same box item that gets delivered, it should be brand fresh, unopened. I don’t think they can stand on the leg of you seeing an item in person. You saw a model that you bough, surely the model description and sales point was not the bloody spot on the mattress.
I have spoken to my bank about similar situations before, typically they are understanding. I had an energy company I wasn’t using anymore (due to moving addresses and them not being available in my new area) renew direct debit on their own. That was not their only cockup they are no longer in business, but my bank was pretty quick to block them off and refund me what they had taken.
