I’ve just started my leave. I have 3 weeks of holiday, then officially start my maternity on the 5th August when I’ll be 36 weeks.

I ended up starting at 33 weeks as this is when I had my daughter and panicked in case the same thing happened again. It doesn’t look like it now, but at least I can spend the whole summer with our daughter before baby gets here

I work in care and there was just absolutely no way I could go to the end. My back, knees and general motivation have all slowly dwindled in the past month.

mrsbgb · 18/07/2024 07:40

@TripleESept24 yep, rib and shoulder pain kicks in every afternoon! Some side stretching helps but I think it’s just where baby is taking up more space. I’ve got a pregnancy massage booked in a couple of weeks time and cannot wait!

Caroline2023 · 18/07/2024 07:45

Hi all just checking in! 30+3 here and working until 38 weeks. I’ve been struggling with my PGP over the last couple of weeks like many of you it seems!
@mrsbgb yes! I’ve been having infrequent braxton hicks since wk 28, they’re very odd sensations!

Honeyandsunshine1 · 18/07/2024 07:53

TripleESept24 · 18/07/2024 07:37

I have the worst shoulder pain!! Anyone else?? Thought it would be lower back but the pain iny left shoulder blade is unbearable!!

Struggle to sit comfortably

Could it be heartburn? I get left shoulder pain when I have heartburn ❤️‍🔥

Cat2022 · 18/07/2024 08:06

Jealous of everyone finishing up I still have 5.5 weeks then 2 weeks of holiday before starting my mat leave. The tiredness is hitting hard now like I already feel like I could go back to sleep. I’m actually sleeping better than I have in about 2 years as my daughter is finally sleeping through the night but find my hips etc are more stiff because of it. I’m going to start drinking my raspberry leaf tea this weekend and also try and do a day of spinning babies inversions as this boy is either breech or transverse and it’s very uncomfortable.

MrsM89 · 18/07/2024 08:09

Checking in. - working for myself I am just about finished with weddings - got 4 to go but help on had if I need it.

We have our fetal medicine appointment today so slightly worried about what the outcome will be. Xx

Cat2022 · 18/07/2024 08:15

@MrsM89 wishing you lots of luck for your appointment, let us know how you get on x

Xur · 18/07/2024 08:16

@TripleESept24 yes!!! I had a pregnancy massage at a spa on our honeymoon a month ago, and last weekend I treated my husband to a spa visit for us here in UK and had my shoulders massaged for my procedure. It was the best feeling ever!
Even though I had the pregnancy massage last month, a month later I find myself wanting an another one because my shoulders get knackered from being able to sleep only on the sides.

TripleESept24 · 18/07/2024 08:24

Seems I'm not the only one with the shoulders then!! And yes @Honeyandsunshine1 left shoulder the worst and I constantly have heartburn!!

Defo treating myself to this massage then next week!!!

Caroline2023 · 18/07/2024 08:32

@MrsM89 all the best for your appointment

Also, @SpicyMoth i saw in the last thread about your heartburn. I’ve really struggled with it and nothing was helping, so I went to my GP and they’ve prescribed omeprazole which has helped so much. Not sure whether it could be worth you thinking about

cd24x · 18/07/2024 08:36

I've got 3 weeks left at work and can't wait. Maternity starting 4th September (38 weeks) but using up annual leave before then. Originally I was going to finish end of August, but just had enough already. Gives me time whilst DS is at nursery to finish up decorating and getting bits out of the loft.

Just a heads up - Aldi have got their baby event on from today. Think I'll be taking a trip later to stock up!

TripleESept24 · 18/07/2024 08:38

I have to get the bus to work on a Thursday as our car parks out of bounds due to board meetings.

I am so done with it! And arrogant rude people. Bump is big!! And nobody downstairs offers me a seat and watch me struggle up the stairs where there was only one seat!

People p*ss me off!!

RosiePH · 18/07/2024 08:40

For anyone worried about baby turning, I went to a mums event thing and there was an acupuncturist there who said acupuncture can successfully turn a baby to head down 60% of the time after 36 weeks.

edit to clarify: as in it works for 60% of women (rather than baby might spend 60% of the time head down afterwards!).

Babyplease23 · 18/07/2024 09:48

Is anybody still struggling with baby names? Feeling really frustrated 🥴 DH and I have only been able to agree on one name (that we chose quite early on in the pregnancy) and have been referring to baby by this name the entire time so was 99% sure we would be using it. Well.... DH cousin (who he can't stand) has just had a baby and they've only gone and picked the same name. I'm not bothered because as far as I'm concerned we have had this name picked for ages, and can't agree on anything else. But DH has fully vetoed the name now. I'd understand if he was super close to the cousin but they hardly talk and he doesn't even like them! He said it's embarrassing to now use the same name and it'll look like we copied them. Feels like we are back to square one and at this rate the poor boy will be nameless 🙄

longingtobe23 · 18/07/2024 11:15

I’ve started packing perhaps a bit early but I’ve forgotten all I need hahah! But these little bags from Etsy are helping.
I think I could just do with some newborn vests short sleeve and long… because I know they fire through these with dribbles leaks and poop.
so added to my next basket. I find they wash really well …. Anything else I am forgetting for baby!!
Are we washing muslins? And cardigans? The whole lot?! 😂 not even my first but I’ve forgotten it all…

Scan at fetal med done and they have no other concerns just still one kidney. Other kidney looks to be working to compensate so all good there. Measurements all on track, fluid levels back to normal. Baby estimated weight of 4lb 4oz at 32w.
Baby will need scans in first 2 weeks of life and antibiotics within 24hours dor approx 6months. Xx

mrsbgb · 18/07/2024 11:59

So pleased it went well @MrsM89! We had our fetal medicine scan on Monday and sounds like our babies are exactly the same size and thriving with their solo kidneys. We've also been told we'll need the scan and antibiotics - can't wait for the challenge of trying to give them to a newborn!

WinsandSam · 18/07/2024 12:13

@TripleESept24 I keep struggling with shoulder pain, but more like trapped nerves. Also in my neck sometimes. Wonder if it's how we sleep and the way our posture now is?!

Also highly recommend a pre natal full body massage!! Had one last month and going again tomorrow it was so dreamy. That night was the best sleep I've had all pregnancy

WinsandSam · 18/07/2024 12:16

@mrsbgb that's excellent news!! Bet you're relieved 🥰

SpicyMoth · 18/07/2024 12:38

Tysm @Caroline2023 !
My MW appt is at 2pm today, so I'll ask about it when I'm in there - Honestly anything to avoid possibly making my kidney issues/ possible stones worse I'm ALL for!
(Still not heard back re; re-scheduled kidney scan either! Wonder if I'll get one before labour kicks in 😂😅)

@Babyplease23 what’s your name “vibe”? Traditional, unique, any particular genre..? Maybe we can help 🤗 we’re having another girl, but did have a small list of boy names.. they’re all quite traditional though so you’ve probably already considered them: Robbie, James, Harry, Archie, Kerr, Oliver

Babyplease23 · 18/07/2024 14:18

@tryingfortwo2 We've found boys names super hard.

I like Theodore/Theo (can't use)
Harrison/Harry (Can't use)
Leo
Rafferty

DH likes... Nothing 🤣 we can semi agree on Leo but he wants the legal name to be Leonardo, with Leo being the name we use daily. I don't like Leonardo and it seems wrong to use it when we have zero Italian heritage 🤣 but he's fully against just Leo as a stand alone name!

WolfMother326 · 18/07/2024 14:24

@Babyplease23 what about Leonard? I wanted that one but DH has said no

tryingfortwo2 · 18/07/2024 14:24

@Babyplease23 aww I love those names! Theo is very sweet, is that the name DH’s cousin used? The thing about Theo being so great is that it seems crazy popular now. We know 3 couples who have used it in the last 2-3 years, and there are 3 (of a total of 15 children) in DD1’s nursery room. But maybe that’s just around here? Leo and Rafferty are also great. If we could pull off a Rafferty, that would’ve been on our list too haha.

I’m the opposite of your DH on the Leo front, I never understand (unless family name, of course) registering an official long name but never, ever using it because the parents prefer the nickname. I would just register the nickname! The name we’ve chosen for this baby is actually a shortened version of another name, but I don’t like the long name 🤣

WolfMother326 · 18/07/2024 14:26

Hi everyone, I've been off the Sep thread for a few months, have just found juggling everything so hard. But now I'm done working finally, today is first day off. I'm 33 weeks. Have had a little complication come up with low lying placenta, so trying to get everything in order in case baby makes an early appearance.

Hope everyone is feeling well and getting excited.
