Oh wow @Redapple21, you've put the fear of God into him now 😂 I genuinely think my husband would've had a breakdown even if it had been twins... x

I know bless him. I think it's because family members have said in passing 'are you sure it's just one' when I'm complaining of my body changing so much faster this time. Obviously playing on my mind!

Roxttc · 24/07/2024 21:04

@UrbanSquirrel @LilacSnail @QuantumPanic Thanks all, she said 4 weeks is the usual amount of time they wait in our area if unable to get the clear measurements - baby will have doubled in size by then and be sitting higher up in my pelvis for a better view. Currently sat very low in my pelvis

I could contact my midwife unit and ask for them to explain the difference in tests, I feel more calm about it now actually had a good think, her closing words were everything is looking good and as we’d expect with a strong heartbeat so I’m not worried about baby itself at all it’s just having those tests done. Going to sleep on it and really consider if I want NIPT or not

LilacSnail · 24/07/2024 22:09

@Roxttc that makes sense. Mostly I’m glad you are feeling better about it 😃

@Redapple21 oh my word. Triplets would be unreal.

@UrbanSquirrel 😂 I went to my early scan on my own and the first thing my DH said when I saw him was ‘there’s definitely just one in there right?!’

Lidlisthebusiness · 25/07/2024 01:10

@superj21 I'll be on holiday at 16 weeks and imagine I'll be fine in normal clothes, I bought quite a bit before I knew I was pregnant, so I'm not wasting them! I generally show quite late though, and have actually lost weight so far, so I don't think I'm going to suddenly get a bump in the next 7 weeks.

herewegoagain123456 · 25/07/2024 06:46

So does anyone else's symptoms disappear the day after a scan? It's happened to me Everytime. It's so weird. I'm trying to enjoy it this time but Everytime I panic. Then they come back and I wish I enjoyed not feeling sick while it happened. Vicious circle.

Moyaingoya · 25/07/2024 07:09

I think I’ve got myself confused re the tests offered at my 12 week scan appointment, I know different areas might be different so will ring hospital later but can anyone advise - I was asked if I want to be screened for genetic conditions at my 12 week scan which I have said yes to, I understood this to mean the scan itself and then a blood test straight after but from googling it looks like you’re only offered the blood test if the scan shows something concerning, is that right?

OrangeSlices998 · 25/07/2024 07:12

If you’ve agreed to screening at your 12 week scan they’ll do the scan, measure the back of babies neck and take a blood test from you. The results of all of that get out into some magic computer and it gives you a risk of your baby having one of those conditions, 1 in 7000 say. If you’re high risk, typically 1:150 or greater you’ll be offered a diagnostic screening test like an amnio/NIPT.

Had my booking in appointment yesterday, which was great. Midwife this time seems lovely, and we spent a bit of time talking about my previous birth which was traumatic, and reassuring that she's going to help advocate for me in this pregnancy.

One thing she said which I wanted to share was that she expects the majority of women at this stage to feel like shit. Alongside the physical symptoms the hormones are all over the place, and she expects women to be feeling a bit low / not necessarily excited. She also said she expects that to pass by about 16 weeks, and if you're still feeling like that to speak to someone. Just wanted to share as I know a few of us have been feeling a bit rubbish this week and apparently that's totally normal!

Redapple21 · 25/07/2024 08:27

@Moyaingoya with my last pregnancy they took measurements and also a blood test straight after. Then I got results in the post a week or so later which thankfully was low risk.

@jaybeez ah thanks for sharing. I think a lot of us have felt a bit rubbish. I remember reading that when a woman gives birth, it's the biggest hormonal change anyone will ever go through within a day. It's crazy what goes on in our bodies.

Piluka · 25/07/2024 08:33

@jaybeez thanks for sharing so and to know there're ppl still feeling shit. I'm taking pills for the nauseas but I forgot two days ago to take one of them and I was very unwell. But according to the doctor who prescribed them "on the 12w they would disappear" as magic as Cinderela'd enchsbtment at the 12th stroke. So, praying for the miracle to occur. Hahaha

Kt1704 · 25/07/2024 15:47

Had a scan today. Measuring perfectly. 9 +4
Twins looking good ❤️ now countdown to 12 week scan!

Great news @Kt1704 ! They're so cute.

Pepsix · 25/07/2024 17:46

Great news @Kt1704 and wonderful pictures!

How is everyone feeling? I’ve hit 10 weeks today and feel absolutely dreadful I’m more exhausted, constant nausea and an absolute crying mess 🤦‍♀️ oh and I’m absolutely starving but don’t “fancy” anything.
ladies who are past 12 weeks please tell me it gets better soon 🫣

rcppab · 25/07/2024 17:57

@Pepsix I’m 9+4 and feel similarly… not tearful yet but thoroughly fed up. I’m fed up of feeling shite! 😂 I’m sure it’ll all be worth it in the end but man the days are draaaaaaagging when I don’t feel well enough to do anything but lie down in front of the TV and think about which food is least likely to make me feel worse 😂 big hugs xx

retrievermum · 25/07/2024 19:04

@Pepsix @rcppab if it helps, I had a few weeks of feeling awful but I’m definitely out the other side now! I know it sounds like a lie but genuinely the day I hit 12 weeks was the day I started feeling better 😂 fingers crossed you both feel more human soon - I saw something on insta saying early pregnancy feels like your body is made of concrete and it’s sooo true, but hang in there!

OrangeSlices998 · 25/07/2024 19:48

Had my scan at EPAU today, the midwives were so so lovely and reassuring as I was nervous. Thankfully, good news! One wriggly baby, and a lovely heartbeat which she showed me a few times to reassure me! I’ll go back for my full 12w dating scan next week but she measured me a few days ahead of my dates from LMP so that’s exciting that I might skip a few days of early pregnancy!

QuantumPanic · 25/07/2024 19:56

Hurrah @OrangeSlices998 and a double hurrah for getting to see your baby again in a week's time! Glad your pregnancy is going well and congrats on skipping ahead a little!!

elb1504 · 25/07/2024 20:25

@Pepsix I definitely feel better now than I did so hang in there, around week 10 was the worst for me. I've definitely got more energy but still getting waves of nausea but nowhere near as bad. Oh and I'm just constantly hungry now! It won't be long!

Lulahoop · 25/07/2024 20:42

@Pepsix @rcppab I'm with you both on this one. Today marks week 10 and I feel awful, exhausted and nauseous, feel like anything I eat will make me feel worse. I had a sickness bug at the start of the week too which really knocked me down and had to have a day off work. I work 12hr days and an hour commute each way so absolutely dreading my shifts tomorrow and Saturday. I'm really happy to hear from some of you you've started to feel a bit better!! And so nice to see some more scan pics. Its really nice to have people in the same boat at the same time. It's also helped me to have a bit of a moan haha 😆 any tips for healthy small snacks would be great, feel like the past few days I've just managed beige food!!

JellyTots2021 · 25/07/2024 22:16

@lulahoop unfortunately I haven't found any single snack I've been able to sustain because of food aversions, but sucking ice cubes has helped provide temporary relief x wishing you luck for your shifts tomorrow!

I have to drive from under London to Liverpool this weekend, gonna bring a flask of ice cubes with me and lots of stops.

UrbanSquirrel · 26/07/2024 06:26

@OrangeSlices998 That'a fantastic news! I'm so happy for you, and great news that you can go back next week for even more reassurance. Thanks so much for letting us know 🤗 xxx

When I hit week 10 I felt awulf. Nauseous 24/7, so much tired that I would sleep 12h (I still feeling tired all the time) and I had a couple of vertigo episodes in 3/4 weeks (one yesterday) and I ended up asking to my GP for some meds as I couldn't cope working and feeling nauseous. I work just 8h with a 45min commute each way by car. So, @Lulahoop you have my total admiration for your bravery of working 12h and 1h commute each way. Omg! I would died otherwise.

Today I hit week 12 and feel as bad and good (as I take meds for nauseas) as yesterday. I hope it improves this week otherwise it's going to drive me insane. Hahaha.

superj21 · 26/07/2024 09:00

Amazing scan @Kt1704 they are both growing beautifully ❤️!

My sickness is hugely hugely better, I've still had the odd bout of nausea but on the whole I started feeling better about 10 weeks. Currently 11+1. Hopefully everyone starts to feel better soon!
