It absolutely is @LilacSnail ❤️

EastLondonCoffeeFiend · 14/07/2024 10:39

Congrats @superj21 - sounds like you might have a little dancer or sports star on your hands 😂

superj21 · 14/07/2024 15:54

Quite possibly @EastLondonCoffeeFiend 😂

mumofone1809 · 14/07/2024 17:40

Went for my first scan today, thought I was 7+2 but they measured at 8+1. Opted for abdominal rather than internal and clarity was just fine!

Hi,

I'm 10 weeks now. I had an early scan at 6wks to discard an ectopic pregnancy. Everything was fine. This is my first pregnancy and also I'm not in my own country so I don't have any relative to count with close by apart from my partner, he's a star. I am super terrified of the whole experience tbh.

So far nauseas now and then, specially after 5/6 in the evening, having my tummy upset again now and then. I suffered 1 UTI that took longer than expected to go away and now and then feeling a little bit feverish.

Just counting the days for the nausea go away. 🤞🤞

UrbanSquirrel · 14/07/2024 19:02

Beautiful scan @mumofone1809! That must have been so comforting to hear that all is going well.

And welcome @Piluka: so glad to hear that everything turned out to be OK at your early scan, and welcome to the thread. You may not have family nearby but hopefully we can offer you support along the way 🤗 x

So, ladies, I got my NIPT results back today - already! (I only had the bloods taken on Thursday.) Hugely relieved to discover that we are low risk for Down's, Patau and Edwards, as well as other conditions like Klinefelter, Jacobs and Triple X. This is a huge weight off my mind, especially as I'm coming up to 40 and was worried that my age might be an issue.

We also found out the sex! I presume this is fairly reliable due to it deriving from a DNA check - so it looks like we're having a little girl! 🎉 DH is over the moon. My parents are ridiculously excited 😂 x

Fab scan pic @mumofone1809 😊

Congrats @UrbanSquirrel!! Fantastic news and must be a big relief to know that baby is low risk. And knowing it's a girl!!! So exciting!! I cannot wait to find out the gender so I can stop calling it "it" 😂

This is brilliant news @UrbanSquirrel I'm so glad it all came back low risk! The first gender reveal of the group too! Congratulations xx

@UrbanSquirrel Congratulations!! Must be a weight lifted and how exciting finding out the sex! First baby girl!

Amazing news all round xx

SBelfast · 15/07/2024 07:58

@UrbanSquirrel thanks for sharing that's great news!
I'm pretty sure I'm going to book mine also with Window to the Womb and aim for next week. Have to say I'm pretty nervous also about the results, which will be why i keep putting off booking it lol. Do they come by email?

UrbanSquirrel · 15/07/2024 08:04

Thank you all for your lovely comments 🤗 Now I just have to hope the 12 week scan next week is looking OK. And then perhaps I can stop worrying. For a bit...

@SBelfast Yep, the results come by email. There are two documents, one with the medical report, which lists all the tested conditions and the assessed level of risk, and one with the gender (which is password protected, I guess to stop people accidentally seeing it if they want to save it for later).

I was genuinely gobsmacked by how quickly the results came back. Only three days, two of which were a weekend!!! All in all, a very positive experience.

I totally agree that it's nerve wracking. For us, this was the scariest bit. But I think it is better to know as early as possible if something is wrong - and if, as is most likely, all is fine, it gives you a real boost of confidence ☺️ Good luck! x

SBelfast · 15/07/2024 08:07

@UrbanSquirrel thanks, I really appreciate that. That's the same for us in terms of nerves. We are also definitely going to find out the gender if we can:)
None of our family know yet either! Xo

UrbanSquirrel · 15/07/2024 08:18

@SBelfast I have totally given up on discretion now. Several people at work know, and all our immediate family. I just can't be bothered any more 😂

OP posts:
SBelfast · 15/07/2024 08:20

@UrbanSquirrel me again sorry haha. Did you book the NIPT advanced package Inc. Early scan?
I know you've to have a scan with them I think before the test, and I can see that as an option but when I go to book the apt looks like a single date. So I'm assuming they can just do both at same time...ie. verify weeks measuring and take the blood? 🤔

UrbanSquirrel · 15/07/2024 08:23

@SBelfast No worries! Hmm, good point, I'm not sure. Why not give them a call to ask if both can be done at the same time? They seem to be really helpful. Or see if you can get a scan beforehand? We had our scans two and five weeks before the bloods, so were already on their system, and we didn't have a scan at the same time as the bloods.

We just had the Advanced Package, no scan. It was around £295, although I don't like to think about that too much because the sheer amount of money makes me start hyperventilating... x

elb1504 · 15/07/2024 08:34

I'm still debating the NIPT but have 12 week scan next week so think I'll just see how that pans out.

@UrbanSquirrel I've also kinda stopped hiding it, all our immediate family know too and quite nice not having to try and cover up when seeing them.

My symptoms seem to have eased a bit more now which is great I'm less nauseous and exhausted but obviously makes the anxiety set in! Just thus week to get through until the next scan.

Roxttc · 15/07/2024 08:54

@UrbanSquirrel Glad your results came back fine and so quickly, congratulations on a little girl! We can’t decide whether to find out gender or not - my partner really wants to and I don’t so not sure how we’ll settle that one 😅

Roxttc · 15/07/2024 08:57

We told my mum this weekend who was shocked and burst into tears - first grandchild for her and I’ve had her convinced we weren’t trying til next year 😅 We also told my husbands mum and her partner who were both over the moon and very surprised too. Nice to have shared the news with some people, but waiting til 27/28th to tell anyone else as will have had our 12 week scan by then,

I WFH full time in my main job so makes it a lot easier to hide!

UrbanSquirrel · 15/07/2024 09:11

Oh @Roxttc your mum's reaction is so sweet. So glad the initial announcements went well, and makes perfect sense to wait for the rest x

Hey guys. Joining the party very late! I found I was pregnant last weekend. Scan dating me 2nd Feb DD.
I already have an 8 month old, this pregnancy was certainly not planned. But exciting anyway

Does anyone else have a young child already?

Same for us, but the other way around- I want to know but my husband doesn’t! I’m leaning towards letting him ‘win’ and not finding out, because I feel like if one parent wants to leave it a mystery then they shouldn’t be forced to find it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hopefully we can still get the early NIPT and just ask them not to share the gender results?!
