@Bb542 im so sorry. I've not been on much because im so anxious waiting for my first scan this sat. Is it maybe just that baby is too small for the scan right now? My understanding is that being a week out this early is quite common? Sending hugs x

Hettycan · 11/07/2024 12:27

Thank you all so much I am so incredibly relieved.

@Bb542 I am so sorry you are going through this, I have been in exactly this position back in January, and it was awful and no one confirms anything right away and you have to wait for that second scan.
Unfortunately for me it did not end well and I did end up passing the pregnancy sac before the next scan. I think it was what is called a blighted ovum as the sac and yolk was growing but they never saw a fetal pole.

That being said I did a huge amount of research after that first scan and I found just as many stories with positive outcomes as negative so I do think it's just a case of waiting but I know that is complete torture and it is so devastating when all you wanted to see was that reassuring heartbeat. I'm sending so much hope your way

Hello lovely Feb gang - I finally had a scan at the EPU this morning after the bleed and clot I passed Tuesday morning and I can't quite believe it but baby looks all good, 9 weeks today and actually looks like a baby now and not just a little blob, with a good heartbeat. I was so convinced I was miscarrying as that is all I have experienced this past year, but this baby is hanging on ❤️

Amazing news!

Bb542 · 11/07/2024 12:49

Thanks girls. It's 50:50 I think - it could really go either way. I've had no bleeding and still have a bit of nausea and really sore boobs. Pregnancy tests are still bright positive. When I miscarried a few months ago I was bleeding, but haven't bled yet. But I'm quite sure of my dates. The only thing that's making me wonder is I've had irregular periods since my miscarriage. My first cycle after miscarriage was 34 days and the next one was 26?? I just wish I knew. It's so hard. To top it all off I had a dream last night we saw the baby's heartbeat 🥲 safe to say I'm sad today 🙈

superj21 · 11/07/2024 13:01

Aw @Bb542 I've got my fingers crossed for you. Were you tracking ovulation? If your cycles have been a bit irregular you could definitely have ovulated later

UrbanSquirrel · 11/07/2024 14:00

@Bb542 Keeping my fingers crossed for you too. Hopefully it was just a bit too early to see the embryo. From what I've seen here and elsewhere, the date you actually have sex or even ovulate seems to bear only a passing resemblance to the date the egg decides to get implanted - so let's still firmly hope for good news. Sending you lots of hugs in the meantime x

ThisLimeDeer · 11/07/2024 14:06

@Bb542 - I was also pretty sure of my dates but the scan proved me wrong. I thought I was 6 weeks at my scan but it turned out I was actually only 5+3! It’s probably down to my irregular periods.

I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you. Baby is tiny at 5 weeks so it may just be that the sonographer didn’t see. I really hope the next scan gives you the reassurance you need, lots of love x

UrbanSquirrel · 11/07/2024 14:06

Hello Team Feb, I thought I would add that I've just had my NIPT blood test and it was incredibly simple. Just one vial of blood taken, and we should have chromosomal results (plus the sex!!!) in 5-7 days. Immensely straightforward - and you can say if you don't want to find out the sex and just want the chromosomal checks.

Just a couple of points that I should have thought about more carefully - first, make sure you're properly hydrated (I was hurrying over from the office via a hot train and my veins were playing hard to find - though the nurse was brilliant).

Secondly, I don't know about other clinics, but mine (Window to the Womb) won't take NIPT bloods if you're earlier than 10 weeks. Officially I'm 10+5 today, but they go on gestational date as given in earlier scans, so that meant I was classed as 10 on the dot (due to last Thursday's scan measurement of 9w exactly), and just squeaked in!

So now I guess I just sit and wait and keep everything crossed that nothing bad shows up... x

Ah well done on managing to get it in time 💚 I hope all goes well. Just curious is it the one that goes to the US, that you can do earlier at 9 weeks? Did they accept another scan or could you do one with them?

Lemonbalm8 · 11/07/2024 15:23

@Bb542 I hope it is all ok, sounds stressful but if the periods were irregular and you weren't tracking, it may well be few days difference and at earlier 5 weeks, it is possible to not see fetal pole and yolk sac. When you first had your positive, was it very faint? You could potentially infer from there that it is possibly 10-13 dpo, but that would depend on the sensitivity of the test and so on...

Hayl777 · 11/07/2024 15:24

Hi @UrbanSquirrel , I had my NIPT test yesterday but as we stay rural it probably won't get to the lab until tonight/tomorrow so will be interesting to see what the turnaround time is.
It's going to be a nervous wait but we go on holiday on Monday and really hope the results are back before our return!

My badger notes has just been updated - on key information under “The type of antenatal care I am receiving” I have Obstetrician + Midwife + GP”

Does anyone else have that? Wondering if that’s normal or if that means I will be being referred to Obstetrician due to family history with spinal bifida.

Mine does and I know I'm going to be consultant led due to previous CS and Thyroid issues postpartum. I would say if you've informed them of family history of issues they will want you to see a consultant at some point to go through it.

LilacSnail · 11/07/2024 16:44

@Hettycan such great news your scan went well. It’s such a rollercoaster at this point.

@Bb542 how incredibly stressful. Do you have long to wait until your next scan?

x

retrievermum · 11/07/2024 17:41

@Roxttc mine is too, due to previous c section. My friend is also shared as she has mental health issues, so anything that may have flagged up at your booking appointment could trigger it to be shared, but typically it might just be a phone call appointment with an obstetrician :)

I had a consultant phone call this morning to discuss whether I’m a good candidate for a VBAC, and she confirmed I am, and I have a 75% chance of success apparently, which is good news!

UrbanSquirrel · 12/07/2024 07:15

@Lemonbalm8 Hi! I don't think it is the US test, as they won't do the NIPT before 10 weeks and I'm pretty sure the lab is in the UK. Are you thinking of Sneak Peek, I wonder? That's purely a gender test if I understand correctly, whereas this one is primarily checking chromosomal stuff. Or maybe you mean the Harmony test? 🤔

@Hayl777 Wow that's a quick turnaround! Keep me updated - I'll be super impressed if they manage it! Where are you off to?

Has anyone else already started with Pinterest boards or am I really jumping the gun here? 😉😬 x

Late to the group! I'm 8 weeks tomorrow and feeling very uncomfortable, this is our 4th pregnancy (2 live) and I have to say it's been the one with most symptoms , currently have horrendous morning sickness (all day and night) heart burn and tiredness. And now gone off most foods I like 😢😢

susie1984234 · 12/07/2024 10:36

Hello all, with a heavy heart my time here has come to an end. After 2 weeks in limbo it was confirmed this morning that I have had an MMC. Baby stopped growing at 6 weeks, I would have been 8 +5 weeks today.
I'm heartbroken, I was so looking forward to meeting this baby and learning about who he or she was. So I'll be taking some time to get my head around it.
Thanks to everyone, it really is a thread full of lovely people and I wish each and every one of you all the best on this journey.
Please enjoy every moment 💕💕💕

SBelfast · 12/07/2024 10:55

Hi Ladies, bit random but my cramping has finally lessened and I've got the urge to do a spring clean - few months late 😂
I've just started using Mr muscle window cleaning and wood polish and am wondering if theres any cleaning products you should avoid when pregnant? Obvs there's a fair smell from both of these, I've got the windows open but now paranoid it's bad for baby. Don't want to Google it as no doubt I'll find websites that say it is unless you buy there safe to use cleaning products lol.

I'm so sorry for your loss @susie1984234 I was really hoping for a good ending. I hope there are no complications and wish you recovery. I am so sorry, there are no words. Early pregnancy is one of the toughest things women have to go through, so please know you are very strong and amazing and there was nothing you could do better 💚

UrbanSquirrel · 12/07/2024 11:15

@susie1984234 I'm so, so sorry to hear that, Susie. Not at all the news we were all hoping to hear. You have been so strong these last couple of weeks in that awful limbo. I can't imagine what you've been going through, and yet you've still been posting on here and supporting the rest of us. I wish I could send you a big hug through the ether. Instead I'll have to settle for sending you all the best as you navigate the next steps, and I hope very soon (if that's what you choose) you'll be joining another thread like this.

Thank you for being such a wonderful part of the group and I am so sorry things have ended this way. With all love xxx
