I'm 9+2 and also very much noticing what looks like the start of a bump lol. I'm 5"1 and before pregnancy around the 8 stone 9 mark and my stomach has gone so rounded and firm..could be bloat though lol but it's all day from the moment I wake up.

Also hardly experiencing sickness or nausea to be honest compared to a lot of people around this mark. I've had a few vomiting episodes and nausea when opening fridge/cupboard but definitely not everyday. About every 3-4 days it comes and goes. My main symptom is sore boobs! again though comes and goes. Saw my little baby at 8+5 and going for another reassurance scan about 10+5 just as I'm nearing to come out the first trimester and then I think I'll probably be able to relax. It's so hard when you have hardly any symptoms though 😅

retrievermum · 10/07/2024 17:49

@Roxttc ive definitely got a full blown bump! Second baby so I know they say you show faster but by about 8 weeks it was fairly obvious with me this time! I’m a bridesmaid for my best friend in a couple of weeks and I’ve had to take my dress to be altered to add a panel in to make room for my belly, luckily I’ve told the bride my news otherwise she’d be very alarmed on the day to see me out of baggy T-shirts and with a full bump on show haha!

rolzshe · 10/07/2024 18:52

Thank you @UrbanSquirrel 🥰

I hope this doesn't make me sound silly, but what's the procedure now?! I'm 27 and this is my first pregnancy. Do I ring my GP and let them know? I feel so stupid typing this out but I am clueless!

And also, those who have had scans before 12 weeks - would these be private scans that you have booked yourselves? X

UrbanSquirrel · 10/07/2024 18:59

Hi @rolzshe, it depends on the area. Sometimes you notify the GP and sometimes (like in my borough) you go straight to registering with the hospital's maternity unit. Why not call your Gp tomorrow if you're not sure which route to follow? Once you're registered - whichever way you do it - they'll automatically book you in for your first midwife appointment (the booking appointment, around 8 weeks) and your 12 week scan.

Some of the ladies on this thread have had early (pre 12 week) scans through the Early Pregnancy Units at their local hospitals because they have had previous miscarriages. Others, like me, have paid for private scans because we want to check that everything is OK. It's totally up to you, of course, if you want to do that or not. Sometimes having a scan too early can only add to the anxiety, because things seem to be underdeveloped. So just bear that in mind ☺️

There are no silly questions on this thread. I'm 39 and this is my first pregnancy too, and everyone here is so lovely, so you don't ever need to feel awkward or embarrassed about asking anything x

Before 12 weeks yes private scans.

Congratulations. Yes ring your GP and they will tell you to contact a midwife by most likely sending you a message to fill a form out and you'll here from a midwife around 7-9 weeks 🙂

elb1504 · 10/07/2024 19:15

@rolzshe As previous people have said it varies by area but I booked in with my GP as the midwife is based at the GP surgery weekly so they make the appointment for you there and then. Others you have to submit a self referral and they then contact you. Best option will be to call GP and see what they say, if your GP surgery has a website it may advise on there what to do too (as we know what it's like getting through to GPs)

rolzshe · 10/07/2024 19:43

@UrbanSquirrel @apple67cherry @elb1504 thank you all for your helpful replies and thank you for being so kind, this is all new so it felt like a stupid question but you've all made me feel as though it's not 😊

I'll ring my GP in the morning and go from there. I have a lot of friends who have had children, but I haven't told anybody yet so didn't really want to ask them x

Redapple21 · 10/07/2024 19:53

This is such a lovely thread, everyone is so reassuring ❤️

retrievermum · 10/07/2024 19:54

Also I know quite a lot of you are first time mums, and this is my second baby so if you have anything at all you want to ask (no matter how stupid you feel!), please feel free to message any time :) hopefully I can help out any way if you need!

UrbanSquirrel · 10/07/2024 19:59

Oh thank you @retrievermum - that's really sweet 🤗 x

I’ve had some bleeding this afternoon. I called the Doctors when it started & they actually called me back really quite quickly. They’ve booked a scan at the EPAU but it’s not until next week. There is a chance they’ll call me in earlier but for now that’s the soonest available at the moment.

I went for a private scan last week and saw a heartbeat. They could also see an area of bleeding. I’m very much hoping that’s the cause of this.

Im going to see how it goes as to whether I can wait it out or go for a private scan.

Hopefully2ndtimemummy · 11/07/2024 07:11

@LilacSnail hope all is ok.
@Lidlisthebusiness so sorry to hear about your mum, hope she makes a good recovery and you’re doing ok as can be.
sorry, I dip in and out! Lots of life stuff going on atm.
hope everyone else doing ok. Such a lovely thread to have and such a source of reassurance x

Redapple21 · 11/07/2024 07:15

@LilacSnail hope all is ok, try to be reassured that you saw an area of bleeding and hopefully that's all it is. So hard to wait though when you just want to know! Sending love.

Wow the heartburn really hit me last night! I was up at 2am looking for Gaviscon. I'm actually taking a day off work today as I feel like I need to take a day to rest. DS is in nursery and god love him there's no resting when he's around. My nausea was really horrible yesterday then topped off by the indigestion all night. Hoping a rest day does me good.

Roxttc · 11/07/2024 08:18

@UrbanSquirrel @retrievermum @apple67cherry All interesting to hear! I wasn’t expecting anything til 16 weeks really especially because I already have some fat there but I have assessed the tummy in the mirror this morning and I’m sure it’s slightly more rounded and protruding than normal 😅

Roxttc · 11/07/2024 08:19

@LilacSnail I hope everything is okay and like you say is just the area of bleeding they saw on the scan. Sending love I know the wait will feel very long.

Hettycan · 11/07/2024 10:44

Hello lovely Feb gang - I finally had a scan at the EPU this morning after the bleed and clot I passed Tuesday morning and I can't quite believe it but baby looks all good, 9 weeks today and actually looks like a baby now and not just a little blob, with a good heartbeat. I was so convinced I was miscarrying as that is all I have experienced this past year, but this baby is hanging on ❤️

superj21 · 11/07/2024 10:46

@Hettycan fantastic news ❤️!

susie1984234 · 11/07/2024 10:47

elb1504 · 11/07/2024 11:40

@Hettycan Fab news to read ❤️

Roxttc · 11/07/2024 11:45

@Hettycan Amazing news glad to hear that! My scan was 9 weeks and I was surprised how tiny but baby like it looked!

I haven't checked in here in ages as we got some bad news at our scan recently. I'm measuring a week behind with an empty sac. I was meant to be 6 weeks 4 days pregnant but I was only measuring 5 weeks 3 days.
Heartbroken doesn't even come close to describing how it feels as I already had a miscarriage this year. Has anyone else been in this position?

Hope everyone is doing well though and great news for you @Hettycan ❤️
