Hi everyone. Had my scan a few days earlier in the end due to availability so had one today as there was a cancellation. I'm 8+5 and measured 8+5 spot on too and saw little baby. Wow, has grown so much since last saw them. Strong heartbeat too🙂

I’m a bit further along I think, but nausea and boob soreness has got slightly better for me over last few days too. Also made me a bit worried, but the nausea has still been coming & going, and I read that it’s not that unusual for these symptoms to ease around this time for some people. So hopefully all ok!

Thanks so much. Glad you’re feeling a bit better too! As much as it’s great to feel more normal it causes worry! Hard to win!

@apple67cherry Oh that's adorable. It's incredible, isn't it, the difference a couple of weeks makes? So pleased all was well x

Hi ladies, I’m tentatively joining the thread. I found out I was pregnant 4 weeks ago, an hour before I was due to travel to our IVF clinic. This is a shock pregnancy after we were told natural conception wasn’t possible for us. Have had lots of bleeding which finally settled last week. We’ve seen baby with a heartbeat. Due mid-Feb.

Hope you’re all faring ok with early pregnancy.

Redapple21 · 07/07/2024 06:48

Wow @apple67cherry amazing to see the difference!
Welcome @GodspeedJune hope all goes well for you!

UrbanSquirrel · 07/07/2024 07:04

Welcome @GodspeedJune - what an amazing story! The body sometimes seems to do miraculous things doesn't it? Glad to hear the bleeding has settled , and it must have been hugely reassuring to see the heartbeat. Looking forward to having you on board 🤗

Just a quick Sunday check-in. How's everyone doing?

It's been quite the week hasn't it? We've lost some lovely members of the thread as their time with us has tragically come to an early close, and gained some new ones, and seen some incredible scan photos.

By the way, for anyone who's a member of the Facebook group, I've set up an album for scan photos there, partly so we can enjoy everyone else's ☺️ and partly so that those who are yet to have scans can get an idea of what to expect at each stage. It's a private group, so be reassured that your pics won't turn up on your feed - I had a brief moment of terror when I uploaded my first one 😂

How's everyone feeling now? Still battling sore breasts here but extreme tiredness has taken over as the main event.

Went to IKEA yesterday and decided to treat myself to their V shaped pillow - not that I need it yet, but it's actually turned out to be amazing - nice support for side sleeping, and doubles up for lumbar support too. Still experimenting with all the different ways to use it and I think it will be amazingly useful going forward (eg for a nursing pillow). In fact I'll probably end up getting more of them. By the end of the 9 months my husband will have to excavate me from a pillow fort every morning 🤣

If anyone else fancies trying it out - instead of, or before going for, one of the pricier ones, it's £15

Morning @UrbanSquirrel! I'm not feeling great the last couple days and just riddled with anxiety. Convinced myself that my low RHR is a sign of a MMC and feeling sick waiting for my scan next weekend.

Still feeling symptoms generally which fluctuate day to day - didn't feel so nauseous yesterday but not feeling so hot this morning. Also feeling a bit emotional which is compounded by the anxiety. Just need to get through the week.

UrbanSquirrel · 07/07/2024 08:09

Oh you poor thing @superj21 🤗 There's just so much to take in about all of this, isn't there? I love this group deeply (so comforting to know you guys are out there), and have learned so much from Mumsnet, but in a way I think it's just taught me to worry about more than I would ever have thought possible... On the other hand awareness is a good thing, I suppose 🤷🏻‍♀️

What is RHR? That's something I don't think I've been aware of measuring so far. Resting heart rate? 🤔 Maybe it just means you're fit? I have been deeply embarrassed by my obvious lack of fitness recently. No idea what my resting heart rate is, but a flight of stairs or steep hill leaves me puffing like a walrus. 🦭

Try to keep your hopes up. I know it's tough. Can you plan some nice things for this week to take your mind off the wait? What day is the scan? We're all rooting for you xxx

superj21 · 07/07/2024 08:16

Thanks @UrbanSquirrel ❤️ yes I agree, I want to have the knowledge but it's also so stressful!

Yes, RHR is resting heart rate. It wasn't something I thought about until I read someone talking about fitness in pregnancy and the increase in their RHR. I was / am pretty fit and pre-pregnancy I would run several times a week plus 2x weight sessions, dog walks and hiking when possible. My pre pregnancy RHR averaged mid 60BPM. My workouts have dropped a lot since I got pregnant, both in frequency and intensity, but my RHR has dropped to an average in the low 50s. This is definitely not due to my fitness increasing! I've got an Apple Watch so this is all tracked. It initially increased up to around 70BPM when I was 5 weeks and since then has been dropping and stayed low 50s. I'm petrified that this is a sign I've had a MMC about that five week mark 😢.

My scan is on Saturday and I have a fairly busy week at work which will hopefully take my mind off things a bit xx

UrbanSquirrel · 07/07/2024 08:44

Fingers crossed for Saturday then. I hope it's very positive and sets your mind at rest 😘 It's just so frustrating having no idea what's going on inside our own bodies - and having no control over it either 😔

You've made me think that maybe I should get an Apple Watch...

OP posts:
superj21 · 07/07/2024 08:48

Yes fingers crossed! Sorry to be so doom and gloom on a Sunday morning. It's been great seeing everyone's positive scans 😊

I do love my Apple Watch but not sure I'd recommend it for the stress 😂

elb1504 · 07/07/2024 08:57

@superj21 Could the lower RHR be because you're taking it easier and not exercising as much or as intense?! As in it doesn't need to come down as much so resting average is lower?

I don't have any knowledge on that just a thought. I have a Samsung watch and my RHR hasn't really increased but I know I'm not exercising anywhere near as much because of the nausea!

My first pregnancy i was quite naive to all these type of things I did join a mumsnet Facebook group but knew very little about MMC etc.. and part of me thinks ignorance probably was bliss I'm a lot more anxious this time round.

superj21 · 07/07/2024 09:05

I'm not sure @elb1504 ! I'm not totally sure how it works other than lower RHR is supposed to mean good cardiovascular fitness. I wonder if maybe cutting alcohol has also contributed? I wasn't a massive binge drinker but I was certainly in the habit of a near daily g&t or glass of wine (or two if it was a long day 😂).

It's definitely tough knowing how much can go wrong. I'm trying to tell myself it's relatively rare, but people are more likely to post when things have gone wrong and we don't hear so much about the majority of healthy, uneventful pregnancies🤞

Daydreaming91 · 07/07/2024 09:08

Hi, I've been lurking around in the background for a little while.

Sorry to read about the loses and congratulations on the lovely scan photos. We had an early scan last week and saw the baby's heartbeat which provided some relief. Although I'm feeling very anxious again now, it took us a while to conceive and we were on one our last letrozole cycles before starting IVF. Just finding it hard to believe I'm actually pregnant right now. Had some severe sickness and after a couple of hospital trips I think I'm coming out of the other side now although still have nausea all day.

How is everyone?

QuantumPanic · 07/07/2024 10:05

@Hopefully2ndtimemummy I had nausea from week 7ish to week 8ish and then it completely disappeared. I'm ten weeks today and no sign of it (although I do occasionally get a little heartburn). Otherwise no symptoms to speak of really - although over the past couple of days I've suddenly developed a belly!! (Seems very early, but I've googled 'ten weeks belly and some women are a lot bigger than I am at this stage, so reassuring to know it's normal.)

I mentioned the vanishing nausea to the midwife at my booking appointment, but she wasn't concerned at all. My scan is just after 13 weeks, so a three week wait to see if everything's ok.

Charlotte1708 · 07/07/2024 10:16

@QuantumPanic @Hopefully2ndtimemummy nice to know others have had a decline in sickness/nausea as I was beginning to worry!! Still a couple of weeks away from 12 week scan and it seems so far away. Just want that re-assurance already 🤞

Sorry to read about those who have suffered losses, breaks my heart 💔

Congratulations to those who have had good news, so great to see scan pics 😍

@UrbanSquirrel how can I find the Facebook group please?? Also is there a WhatsApp group? Feel like I've seen that mentioned somewhere... Thanks 😊

daschundmama · 07/07/2024 10:33

Hi All and happy Sunday. I am having a wobbly day, getting in my head about my nausea not being here again today- im still exhausted and sore, but really overthinking the lack of morning sickness and panicking something is wrong!

daschundmama · 07/07/2024 10:37

@Charlotte1708 for the whatsapp i DMd Tulipwood
and she sent me a link :)

EastLondonCoffeeFiend · 07/07/2024 12:26

After saying my nausea had gone away, it’s back this morning with a vengeance! Feeling so sick. Just goes to show you how these changes can keep changing unexpectedly.

But I’m still generally anxious and worrying - can’t wait for the scan.

Shortcake06 · 07/07/2024 12:53

Hello
It’s been a super busy week on this group. My heart goes out to all who have suffered a loss it is a pain unlike any other.
To all who are worrying and anxious as they are pregnant after loss I hear you. After two losses I am the same, overthinking every time my boobs are less sore or I feel less sick for a while.
apart from feeling sick I have got very sore boobs and WOW the tiredness? Is everyone else slammed with fatigue. Also the BLOATING is unbelievable, I don’t remember being so bloated with my first?
I have booked a private scan for just over a week or so when I will be around 8 weeks. So anxious. Can anyone indicate if this is likely to be abdominal? X

UrbanSquirrel · 07/07/2024 13:04

@Charlotte1708 This is (should be!) the link to the Facebook group. I hope it works... ☺️

@Shortcake06 Regarding your scan, I would ask at the clinic. I go to Window to the Womb and they strongly advise internal scans before 10 weeks as everything is so tiny that abdominal isn't always strong enough. But if you still request abdominal I think they would go ahead with that. And other members of this thread have had abdominal scans before 10 weeks, so it really does seem to be clinic dependent ☺️

If it helps, it feels a bit uncomfortable when they're wiggling the probe around trying to check you out, but it doesn't actually hurt. Nothing like a smear test, if that's what you're worried about 🤗
