For anyone who is really suffering from bloating (like I am)...

I did a bit of research on this and apparently an increase in progesterone can cause bloating. And high progesterone levels are needed for a healthy pregnancy, it signals to your body not to shed your uterus lining and keep things in place whilst the placenta develops.

So although the bloating is pretty horrendous, I'm finding it helpful to think of it as a good sign that my progesterone levels are high!

High progesterone is also linked to tender breasts and anxiety (which explains why those are also pms symptoms). So yay for anxiety and baggy trousers 🤣

Interesting! Well in that case I'll embrace it 😂😂

Interesting! I’ve been so so bloated, I can’t wear any of my normal clothes and I feel so paranoid that people are guessing already 😂 I’m only 8 weeks 😅 guess all you can do is roll with it, but it’s nice to know it’s a ‘good thing’!

jellyfish2 · 25/07/2024 09:28

I'm now 6 weeks 2 days but not really got any symptoms apart from feeling a bit yuk and also tired. My sore boobs have completely disappeared and I'm really worried 😫
Anyone else the same at this stage?

MillieKitty · 25/07/2024 10:04

@jellyfish2 me too, I don't feel pregnant at all this time compared to my first pregnancy! Every pregnancy is different though!

jellyfish2 · 25/07/2024 10:10

@MillieKitty thanks, I'm just so paranoid this time round because of my MMC before. Just reassuring when other people are similar.

When did you get a date for your midwife booking appointment and who is still waiting? I'm 7 weeks tomorrow and I'm on badgernotes but no appointments scheduled yesterday (me being impatient!)

Onthedouble123 · 25/07/2024 10:43

Hi everyone. Forcing myself to join. I've been holding off feeling like I'm jinxing myself but trying to give my head a wobble and think rationally!
I'm 8+3 but feels like I should be about 8months as it's been a bit of a journey to get here.
We were just in the early stages of IVF- had all our preparatory work and id started taking norethisterone when we got an early BFP. Then bled with really bad cramping at the right time of AF so thought was a chemical.
But continued to test positive (only tested again because clinic told me to!) Had a scan at the clinic and saw 2 yolk sacs! Saw a heartbeat in one but measuring almost a week behind, second hand no heartbeat and measuring even smaller. Went back for a second scan earlier this week- baby 1 now up to the right measurement dates and all looking good for this stage. Baby 2 had grown but unfortunately still no heartbeat so isn't viable.
We have one little one already but then had a loss last year- still can't shake the feeling of anxiety and I'm not taking anything for granted - but each day is a step in the right direction and Dr was happy on Tuesday so that's a good sign for now! Xx

I filled in the form at the GP to request the midwife at 5 weeks, she phoned me at 6 weeks and I had my booking appointment at 7 weeks.
I think 8-10 weeks is typical, I would probably give it until Mon for the appointment to come through and then chase. I've just looked up when I had my booking appointment with my first and that was 9 weeks

CaffeinatedLondoner · 25/07/2024 10:58

Had the first day yesterday where I couldn't work because I was so sick, BUT I ended up watching hours of YouTube blogs and reading anything and everything I could about dealing with morning sickness and I've implemented the recommendations this morning and it's made SUCH A DIFFERENCE. Dropping here to share the love:
As soon as you wake up, eat something i.e., keep crackers or ginger biscuits in your bedside draw so you can get something in your stomach immediately upon waking.
Eat something small and dry every one hour after that. I literally have a timer on and it's keeping it at bay. I've gone for rice cakes, crackers or ginger biscuits. Keeping them on a rotation to make it slightly less monotonous lol.
Drink sour liquids e.g., ginger squash, ginger tea, diluted ACV.
This is a random other tip I have from a life of travel sickness that really works (I'm sure healthcare pros in the chat already know this one) but – sniff an alcohol site i.e., the ones you use when prepping an injection wipe (or the ones you use when wiping your gel nails after UV light haha). They are magical at instantly relieving nausea.
As a disclaimer, I also have an appt with my GP for a few weeks but the London waiting times forced my hand to look at home remedies first!

I v had a scan and there s a little heartbeat 😍😍😍 7 weeks... Have been put on progesterone cause of the bleeding... I m sooo relieved 😀😀😀

What fantastic news! ❤️

PlumpHobbit · 25/07/2024 11:25

The sick feeling seems to have eased slightly although don't fancy anything sweet

Have been gorging rich teas and crisps!

DH has for reasons known only to him, decided he's intermittent fasting so won't eat breakfast and super calorie controlled

I was already slightly plump, so this has just made me feel rather shit about my body which is only going to get bigger!

Now getting upset, am tired and I think the hormones are worse

Alcohol wipe for injection site. I'll blame my nauseous brain...!

Hi all just trying to catch up with all the messages I have been down with constant nausea 8+3 had my booking appointment yesterday and first scan on Saturday at 8.5 I would have preferred later more to see not sure if they can date at that gestation still by far my best pregnancy as I haven’t vommited more than 4-5 times in all and I can eat although eating makes me feel better for a bit so getting small breaks in between with nausea anymore suggestions on nausea are welcome 🤗

Hi guys,
Hope you’re all well?
I don’t have Facebook so can’t join the group 😞
looking for some advice/support? Flo indicates that I’m 5+2, pregnancy+ app says 5w. Yesterday I did a digi test again and still says 1-2 weeks. Yesterday I did a boots test, repeated again today and the line is more faint, both with FMU. I had a EMC in April so really worried about it happening again. Do you think it just signals bad news? Feeling very sad 😣 x

Do you know when you ovulated? My app thinks I'm five weeks but I know I'm nearer 4 because I ovulate much later in my cycle. Fingers crossed for you x

Boymum3722 · 25/07/2024 13:16

@CatmumTTC I did the CB OPKs with a flashing smiley on CD18 and solid on CD19 so maybe CD 19 or 20? (7th or 8th July). Thank you x

This is very similar dating to me! I "think" ovulating slightly later would more realistically put you at 4ish weeks. According to LMP I'd be 5 weeks, but because I ovulated on day 20ish, I'm more likely in week 4. I know it's tricky (I'm still struggling to not presume the worst every second), but try to give yourself a good few days between tests to get a better idea of progression. I haven't had a test as dark as my first one yet as it was SO concentrated(full travel day) so even my first morning wee isn't as concentrated as that one. But if ignore that test, they have been getting a little darker but only every 2/3 days I'd say.

Boymum3722 · 25/07/2024 13:25

@veggiebuns thank you. Do you think I should wait a week then before doing another CB digital ? I’m on holiday at the moment and the only test I have left is the digital one in my bag - it is torture 😩 managed to hold off doing it again this morning 😂

I filled in the form when I found out, give or take, at 6ish weeks, got an appointment email the same day and my booking appointment itself is today, I’m now 8 weeks. That did seem super quick! It certainly wasn’t that efficient last time anyway. I think 8-10 weeks is what they aim for anyway.

@ninaballerina12 is this how your last miscarriage started?

Having ransacked google and old threads on here over the last few days, brown spotting is definitely fine in lots of cases . Really hope this works out well for you. Miscarriage rates after seeing a heart beat plummet.

I'm also currently playing the waiting game. I went to an EPU walk-in on Friday because of left side cramping and brown spotting, hoping to rule out ectopic and get additional progesterone if it was warranted. Dreadfully they couldn't see anything at all, in either my uterus or fallopian tubes and I was given a Pregnancy of Unknown Location leaflet in a quiet room. They phoned with my HCG and progesterone results on Saturday (507 and 63) and said they were tentatively positive - because the gestational sac isn't usually visible until 1000-1500 HCG - and I didn't seem to be miscarrying.

I was only 4 weeks 5 days (going by my known ovulation date rather than last menstrual start date) and am booked in for another scan with them on Thursday to hopefully find something in the correct location and rule out ectopic.

(The EPU walk-in also confirmed that spotting and cramping are fairly common btw.)

In the EPU waiting room for my make or break second scan to confirm the location of the pregnancy😬

Had you had darker tests last week or are these the first ones you’ve done? Could it be the hook effect? I’m not sure how early this can hit in… if so, I think if you dilute your urine with a bit of water, the line should appear darker.

sirensong · 25/07/2024 13:44

Unlikely to be the hook effect so early. HCG needs to be really really high - over 500,000.

If you can hold off, I would. I know it's so difficult, but I would really try to wait until a full week has passed since your last digital. Just try to remove as many of the "ifs" and "buts". I'm certainly not an expert, but I've definitely found that the longer I leave test, the more trust I put in the results and I'm less inclined to need to check again 12 hrs later!

Superscientist · 25/07/2024 14:18

@Saim86 I'm finding fresh food more helpful. With my daughter I lived off tinned peaches and apricots
Sipping fruit smoothies have been easier that water as they are thicker.
Anything bland and dry is making me wretch except Bovril on toast.
I've been snacking on cherry tomatoes and I had a stick of celery at lunch and it was the tastiest stick of celery I have eaten!
