@Mrbay I don't think we'll be fortunate enough to have a baby naturally in the future unfortunately. My fertility issues are down to Stage 4 Endo, I lost my left tube to it in April, and although I still have my right ovary, it doesn't work because the endo has literally killed it off.

@wildhay This is our first, and our first transfer. We had our egg collection back in October last year, then had to wait for my tube removal surgery before we could try and transfer. We transferred on the 5th, and kept it to ourselves for a couple of days... But my OH wasn't comfortable not sharing it with immediate family and given that the poor sod has been hardly involved in the baby making up until now, I let him take a lead on that decision! We just didn't tell them exact dates so that there was no pressure to tell them how it went (but then he told them it worked pretty soon after, too 😬). My Beta results came back pretty good 14 days post transfer, so fingers tightly crossed for good news at the early scan 🤞🤞

Symptoms wise... The bloat is unreal! I think all of the progesterone I am on is probably exacerbating it, but I'm massive 😂 Aside from that, I'm just feeling generally hungover and in need of a nap.

Anyone else with silly insomnia? I keep waking up with a bang around 5am and not being able to get back to sleep. Sometimes also waking at 3 or 4am. It feels like waking up on the morning of an exam!

I’m having crazy dreams and then waking up for a wee at 4am every day. It’s driving me mad!

Yeah. I was up before 3am and didn't end up going back to sleep well after 5.. regretting to bed late last night as my lo was up at 7. 🫠

@CatmumTTC @Melusina123 @Downtherabbithole83@Zuzu2020 I see i'm not the only one! It's annoying, but I can also like the moments of calm for myself before my toddler wakes up!

I'm consciously pushing myself to stay awake until 11pm to try and eliminate the 3 and 4am wakes, but 5am I can probably live with!

AdventuresInMothering · 24/07/2024 09:03

hi all I'm 6 weeks today and the all day nausea is horrendous 😭 I'm really struggling. Its much worse than in my first pregnancy. I've tried ginger tea/sweets, sickness wristbands, snacking on bland stuff, fizzy water, gentle exercise, vitamin B6 tablets... all the things that helped last time are barely making a dent. Does anyone have any other tips??? At what point is it bad enough for medication? I haven't actually been sick yet but I literally feel intensely nauseous every waking minute and I'm struggling to work or look after my 4 year old.

Yep! I was like it first time around too, with my now-toddler, but I’d forgotten that until my husband reminded me that this is the exact same pattern as then… exhausted and fast asleep by 9/9:30pm, awake at 2:30/3am and completely unable to get back to sleep until about 6am then absolutely zonked… which isn’t great when you’ve got a two year old jumping on you at 7:30am yelling ‘wake up mama!!’ 🤣 at least the first time around I just had to drag myself out of my pit to the spare room to wfh from 9am 🙃

This is actually how I knew to do a test! I've always been such a good sleeper and suddenly I was struggling to fall asleep despite being exhausted and then waking up every hour 3am - 6am! Thankfully the falling asleep has improved, but still waking up at the crack of dawn! 😴

Hello, March 25th due date here- still doesn't feel real. I'm 41 and have only been with my partner since November. We weren't trying (using the Clue app- badly apparently) and only found out on Sunday- now feeling every emotion under the sun. Will hopefully get used to the idea soon. Big congratulations to everyone else.

Yes, this is me. Now 6+1 and struggling with nausea. Feel like I'm just constantly eating to try to keep on top of it which does seem to help, but worried I am going to end up the size of a house! I seem to feel worse in the evenings too, felt so awful last night I just ended up going to bed as at least then the feeling would stop. But still woke up in the night feeling awful! Have done my self referral to the midwife so will wait for their call and discuss with them then.

Struggling to work and look after you child is enough. Go to the GP and ask for meds X much love I was there myself on Monday

Anyone else feeling fine? Apart from fatigue I feel normal. So opposite to last time where I felt horrendous from the day I found out until the day I gave birth!

I've got my booking appointment next week when I'll be six weeks - that'll make it feel a bit more real

Welcome - hope you’re coping okay with the shock (and that your partner is too!) Have you got any children already or will this be your first?

There are a couple of us who are 40+ on here: so far (as far as I know) it’s me, @ConfusedCrab and you!

Other than sore boobs and weird waking habits, I’m mostly okay. Every now and then I think I might be nauseous but I could just be over-thinking it. Certainly not impacting on my normal life yet but I’m only 5w+1 so I’m sure there’s time for it to hit in…

With my 7 year old I was sick once pretty much every day from 6-36 weeks!

Melusina123 · 24/07/2024 13:47

@AdventuresInMothering I am like you, not vomiting but just all-day nauseous and struggling to function. It was the same in my last pregnancy and I just struggled through it, but this time I have a toddler so I've asked for medication. They gave me cyclizine, which didn't really help so now I've got metoclopramide which seems to be taking the edge off. I told the doctor I was struggling to do everyday tasks and look after my kid and it was affecting my quality of life and they prescribed without a quibble. I don't take it constantly, just when I really need it (e.g. an in-office day or when I'm solo parenting), and to have a break from the nausea that is soooooo wearing on my mental health

I'm feeling fine so far. Other than my odd sleeping pattern, and occasional achey back. Although, I have had some quite drastic mood swings today, small things sending me into a rage and then crashing and feeling a bit teary. Poor partner doesn't know what's going on 😂

Thank you! Nice to know I'm in good company. Coping, I think and partner is being wonderful despite it not being something we'd planned at all. No children and to be honest I'd accepted that ship had sailed so this is a big curve ball! Feeling good otherwise, just taking one day at a time. Thanks for reaching out and hope you're doing well.

StampOnTheGround · 24/07/2024 17:19

Cautiously joining, possibly due 29th March but my cycles are unpredictable so it could well move to early April (or even a couple of days earlier than the 29th) - fingers crossed for us all 🤞🏻

Congratulations. I've not been active on here much at all because I really struggled getting my head round it and deciding if continuing was the right thing. I already have a little boy and felt complete, no desire for another. It's been a very rough ride! But deciding to continue (I think) as I feel I will regret it if I don't. I'm 8 weeks now and only just starting to get my head round it.

Mrbay · 24/07/2024 21:07

@LV1987 - nor did I, after 5 years of trying, two ops and 3 rounds/5 transfers, I thought I'd count my blessings of having my daughter and not worrying about birth control. I've also got endo, I've found it gotten so much better since having my daughter - finally back to normal periods and paracetamol after suffering since I was 11 its a shock!

Insomnia is killing me here too, I don't think the additional progesterone is helping.

@cococabanaas - glad you managed to make the right decision for you and your family. Before we even thought about a 2nd, we wondered if we could do it. I do wonder if I will cope going through the baby phase again. I am just thinking forward to when I have a 2 year old and 5 year old and they can play together and I can have a hot coffee!

SprinGarden · 25/07/2024 07:57

I v had a scan and there s a little heartbeat 😍😍😍 7 weeks... Have been put on progesterone cause of the bleeding... I m sooo relieved 😀😀😀

SprinGarden · 25/07/2024 07:57

Thanks for your support guys xxx

CatmumTTC · 25/07/2024 08:07

@SprinGarden that's great news!

CatmumTTC · 25/07/2024 08:20

For anyone who is really suffering from bloating (like I am)...

I did a bit of research on this and apparently an increase in progesterone can cause bloating. And high progesterone levels are needed for a healthy pregnancy, it signals to your body not to shed your uterus lining and keep things in place whilst the placenta develops.

So although the bloating is pretty horrendous, I'm finding it helpful to think of it as a good sign that my progesterone levels are high!

High progesterone is also linked to tender breasts and anxiety (which explains why those are also pms symptoms). So yay for anxiety and baggy trousers 🤣
