What are views on holidays when pregnant? We've a city break in central Europe booked for August, seeing a few different places over the course of a week. Worried about the temperature, the walking etc.

gormlessgoldilocks · 20/07/2024 13:25

@bounbouncingblob whatever you feel comfortable with. I went away both at 8 weeks to Porto in scorching hot weather and to Copenhagen and 24 weeks last time around

This time we have Iceland booked for Feb so 32 weeks 🙃 so that one will be interesting

jellyfish2 · 20/07/2024 13:30

Balloffluff123 · 20/07/2024 11:26

Thank you. They ask us to self refer at 6-7 weeks and see us for booking in at around 9wks. Do you think I should wait until I KNOW I am around 6 weeks or just do it now (6wks from LMP) as they will probably go off LMP not my clear blue result 😂? If I have my 12 week scan and it turns out I am only 10 weeks would they rescan at 12 do you think?

I know my dates and told the hospital but they said they don't go by that and its lmp. So my booking app I'll be 7 weeks and my scan 10 weeks. I think I'll end up getting another scan around 12.

m00ngirl · 20/07/2024 14:17

@bouncingblob at how many weeks and how are you feeling? I'm 8 weeks today and feeling constantly sick (not being sick) and now tired as well, also feeling funny about certain food and drink. Lots of ladies on here seem to be feeling the same. I couldnt face a holiday feeling like this.

Superscientist · 20/07/2024 14:39

@bouncingblob it really depends on how your pregnancy goes. Have a plan for if you are struggling on the holiday and hope for the best.

Melusina123 · 20/07/2024 15:27

We were in Surrey last weekend, one advantage of it was there was lots for my partner to do with kid 1, leaving me to rot in the hotel room feeling relatively less guilty than I do at home.

Last time I went to Berlin at about 7 weeks and that whole holiday is layered over with quease. But went to Amsterdam at 28ish weeks and that was fine, just needed to walk a bit slower and take more rests. 😂 I wouldn't go anywhere I wasn't happy to present to A&E at, just in case. After about 32 weeks I stayed close to home.

Sorry to throw a random post in the thread but my 2 year old seems to have come down with a sickness bug, he's had no diarrhea just a few little vomits in the night, really small, barely any stomach contents but now I've started with diarrhea 😫 I have severeeeeee emetophobia. With sickness and diarrhea effect my pregnancy as I'm only 4 weeks today (around 12 or 13 dpo) been testing positive since 8dpo. Also I just took some immodium and now I'm not sure if I was supposed to/allowed to?! Helpppp!

You can catch bugs from children I’ve had Covid 3 times with my last born I do get what you mean about your phobia again with meds I take regular meds you can’t take while pregnant I don’t normally find out I’m pregnant till I’m 5 weeks when the sickness creeps in and my kids have been fine congratulations on your new addition and enjoy the pregnancy 🙂

IMBCRound2 · 20/07/2024 16:31

Anyone else having unreal bloat? I’m quite small normally and I look like I’m 5 months not 5 weeks!

im on progesterone which is probably making it worse….

Oh my god me! I feel so bloated only 6 weeks could pass for at least 15 😂😂

7 weeks on Monday (or 8 depending on whether you go back ovulation or LMP)

I have no morning sickness or nausea, just fatigue and bloating and some back pain. Think as long as we take it easy it should be OK!

someone Just ran up and congratulated me! I didn’t know what to say - I don’t want people to know this early but then I don’t want to jinx things !

Mrbay · 19/07/2024 11:27

@SharingEasesWorries - thank you. Yeah that did confirm a heartbeat 🙂
Did they confirm the pregnancy was in the correct place?

@AdventuresInMothering - I've had a bit of cramping but very mild.

@Melusina123 - that's great news! It can take a few days for the egg and sperm to find each other and then implant.

I'm currently at work, hiding as my sickness is here with bells on!

Hello @Mrbay thanks. They did confirm that the pregnancy was in the right place with gestational and yolk sac being visible. Keeping everything crossed 🤞 for the next scan on Thursday

PeachMartin · 20/07/2024 23:20

Sorry to bring the mood down, has anyone else noticed that their anxiety is through the roof? Not necessarily worrying about pregnancy related issues either. Not sure if it’s the hormones but feel like I can barely function at times due to the constant worries circling around my head. Any advice would be amazing.

I had 2 holidays in my first pregnancy. The first was in tri 1 and I had anti sickness tablets so just about made it through. The second was in tri 2 and was absolutely fine (although I was a bit tired- the trip was intense).

I’d never go on holiday in tri 1 but after that I think it’s fine, though I’d echo another poster who says about going somewhere where you’re happy to access their healthcare.

HRHXO · 21/07/2024 09:28

@PeachMartin yes 100%. I've been so anxious about my 2 year old who is recovering from a sickness bug and I've worried about myself getting ill, I've worried about this new pregnancy, I've worried about work, I've worried about my partner- the list goes on. I'm a generally very anxious person but I was a wreck yesterday!

Aisling1010 · 21/07/2024 09:34

Hi! I’m new to the thread thought I would join in!

Im 7 weeks 1 day today, making my due date 8th March 🥰

This is my 3rd. I have two girls who are 6 (almost 7) and 8. So I feel like it’s been a while since I’ve been pregnant!

Symptoms so far for me are feeling very nauseous early in the morning. But definitely doesn’t as seem as bad as my last 2 pregnancies (so far)
My boobs have been sooo sore about 5 days ovulation, and haven’t eased at all!
and feeling extra tired!

Looking forward to this journey and sharing it with others due the same month 🙂

CatmumTTC · 21/07/2024 09:48

Hi all, tentatively keeping an eye on this thread as think you're mostly a few weeks ahead of us. Just got our BFP so that would put us around 25th March due date. No idea what to do with myself for the next couple of weeks, did everyone call the GP straight away or wait? I was thinking of waiting until 6 weeks unless something happens that warrants attention. I have real anxiety about loss and guess that's a way of me feeling more in control. Not sure there's much logic to it, I can feel myself becoming an anxious mess!

HRHXO · 21/07/2024 10:57

When I was pregnant last time I joined a thread like this on mumsnet and we made a list of everyone's due dates etc so we could all keep track. We also created a private Facebook group and I'm still in that group now, it's been a massive help. Would anyone be interested in something like this?

I've changed the name to Daffodils and Jonquils 25... March's flowers so it's not too obvious.
Also is there anyone who's very active of Facebook who would like to be an admin to approve requests when I can't. Pm your Facebook name once you've been accepted and I can sort that

@Zuzu2020 I clicked on that link but it said "content is unavailable at the moment" so not sure if it's working!

Hey everyone ☺️ hoping to join!!

I'm in the same boat as you @CatmumTTC due around the same time mid/late March if all goes well. Not exactly sure when I ovulated.

I'm thinking of waiting til 6 weeks to contact the doctor as it still seems so early 😬
