My lines looked noticeably darker today but the amount of spotting has increased and I have left focused cramps so I've come to an EPU walk in for a scan. UCLH in case anyone London based finds themselves needing reassurance fast.

Edited

Crossing my fingers for you, hope you get seen quickly and it's good news

Saim86 · 19/07/2024 18:26

Just wondering how all the other mums are getting on ? I have had nausea creep on but very mild but hasn’t increased however my gp has suggested promethazine at night to help the nausea so fingers crossed 🤞

jellyfish2 · 19/07/2024 18:38

@Saim86 I'm 5+3 today and I've started feeling a bit sick now and again. I don't know if that's it starting but I'm sure it was after 6 weeks before.

Superscientist · 19/07/2024 18:43

I am 7+3 and I either am throwing up everything I eat but feel ok or have nausea from waking to going to sleep and feeling awful.
I can tolerate the sick as I feel ok but I'm worried about weight loss but the nausea days are unbearable.
The midwife was a bit dismissive yesterday and said "the good thing about pregnancy sickness is it goes away when you eat" erm... No it doesn't!

26dX · 19/07/2024 19:21

6 weeks and I've felt fine just so exhausted! With my DD I felt so sick all day everyday so it's going to hit me like a ton of bricks or I'm in luck here! 😂😂

m00ngirl · 19/07/2024 19:22

I'm with you @Superscientist... I'm getting a little bit better at dealing with it. Constantly grazing on beige, and drinking water/cranberry juice with ice.

Saim86 · 19/07/2024 20:12

@jellyfish2 sound’s like it’s starting try to have your action plan ready but I hope not going to get worse and you will get away with mild symptoms it’s the worst feeling ever I’m glad to not have had full blown hg thanks to starting meds early its more a case of catching the sickness before it catches you and I still have an appetite still eating like a pig 😂
@Superscientist I can imagine how your feeling and really don’t agree with the midwife it works for milder symptoms where you still have an appetite have you considered discussing meds ? Pregnancy sickness support have a telephone line and WhatsApp they can suggest a plan of medication and give you the information to advocate your case to gp hopefully we should all have sailed the storm soon I’m fingers crossed it won’t last past 14 weeks

You are lucky in that department hopefully fingers and toes crossed I can’t tell if I’m tired from the concoction of meds or the pregnancy

i will have to try the cranberry juice 🙂

Superscientist · 19/07/2024 20:17

Thanks @m00ngirl and @Saim86

On Tuesday I was on the edge of filling in the gp form for antiemetics but was at work then Wednesday and Thursday were a bit better. Today has been the worst for sickness and have probably been sick 8 or 9 times. With my daughter i had sickness 6-12 weeks then 14-16 weeks and then 24-36 weeks and was on cyclizine for most of that time. I will see how I get on over the weekend and reach out on Monday. I have a few appointments next week so I'm working from home all week which makes it a bit easier to get into the GP.

Superscientist · 19/07/2024 20:21

I'm finding strong flavours easier to eat, anything that taste bland makes me feel sick as it reminds me of sick. Also I had purging subtype anorexia and then bulimia in my teens and twenties and find any foods that are reminiscent of binge foods harder to eat.

jellyfish2 · 19/07/2024 20:21

@Saim86 that's good you've started meds. I hope mine doesn't get much worse, I had awful nausea in my last pregnancy (that ended in MMC) I could hardly function! Hopefully this time it's only slight.

that has took me back to my teens had the exact same issues my family are very aesthetic in how you look can’t be too skinny or too fat now they have been cut out my life it has been blissfull…I too can’t stand anything sweet or bland and the chilli sauce bottle seems to go everywhere with me 😂 for most mums it’s the fear of bland foods are easier to bring up than strong flavours and spices

Yes my mother was a strong contributing factor. My two sisters have had eating disorders too.
I had a lemon and raspberry magnum today which was great. Palate cleansing!

I remember in a really bad week having my daughter my partner made me a zesty fish dish and it was the first thing I managed to eat in days.
I otherwise lived off tinned peaches!

I feel this. I'm only 4+5 but I'm so exhausted. I've had to have time off work I've just been knocked out really. The weather isn't helping either. Not sure what I can do to get my energy back as I'm working this weekend and I have a son who keeps me on my toes!!

only me in our family the rest are also very aesthetic I must have skipped the aesthetic gene definitely lived off orange juice for liquid and orange juice with bits for food and this happened for full 9 months little boy was so orange/yellow at birth they couldn’t tell if it’s jaundice or the oranges !! This has been my best pregnancy by far

Sorry to throw a random post in the thread but my 2 year old seems to have come down with a sickness bug, he's had no diarrhea just a few little vomits in the night, really small, barely any stomach contents but now I've started with diarrhea 😫 I have severeeeeee emetophobia. With sickness and diarrhea effect my pregnancy as I'm only 4 weeks today (around 12 or 13 dpo) been testing positive since 8dpo. Also I just took some immodium and now I'm not sure if I was supposed to/allowed to?! Helpppp!

InvisibleDragon · 20/07/2024 09:43

Just checking in - positive test yesterday, due date very end of March so just squeaking into this thread!

Balloffluff123 · 20/07/2024 09:45

Hi All! Can I tentatively join please? Massive congratulations to everyone. I have a DD who is 16mths old so it is lovely (and reassuring) to see other toddler mums here!
I’m currently confused and would love some advice/wisdom. Sorry it’s gonna be a long post. I’m still BF and my periods only returned April 8th. I usually have a very regular 28 day cycle and probably a 5 day period. I had a period the early May bank holiday and then I THINK the first week of June - part of the problem is I have no idea of the dates of this one!
Any way I did a negative test on 28th June, negative test first week of July, negative test 11th July (clear blue) but felt sick negative test 13th I think but a vvvfp on Monday the 15th using sainsburys cheap and cheerful. Like super faint probably wouldn’t show on a photo. Tested again on Thursday and still faint but defo stronger. Did a clear blue yesterday - 1-2 weeks. Will test again with a cheap test for comparison to earlier in the week. My question is how pregnant am I? By dates I should be 6wk + but by the tests I am only 4 weeks. Last weekend I had some abdominal cramps and have had very very very light pink discharge but have had intermittent nausea all week this week and I don’t think I felt sick until 5 weeks last time. If tests can pick up a pregnancy up to 5 days before a missed periods then when could I have ovulated?
My daugther had 5 X-rays of her arm on the 28th June and she was sitting on my lap so now I’m super anxious about that!
Thanks for reading! I didn’t join a mumsnet group until I was 20wks last time as I didn’t want to jinx it but they have honestly all become my best friends. We still all regularly chat to this day!

Balloffluff123 · 20/07/2024 09:48

The sickness and diarrohea won’t affect your pregnancy. Your body is designed to protect that baby. Just try and stay well hydrated. As for the Imodium NICE guidelines say it is not recommended but because there is no evidence rather than because of some identified risk. I would say speak to a pharmacist for reassurance but don’t take again. You and baby will be fine! Hope you feel better soon. Sickness bugs are the worst.

It’ll be fine, do try not to worry!! My son (also 2!) has had a similar bug recently and I also caught it… happily for me it only really lasted a day or two whereas he had it for 5+ days, poor bugger. Look after yourself, stay hydrated and just eat a little here and there when you can manage it!

My mil had a sickness bug on holiday last year with horrific diarrhoea. She took lots of immodium trying to be active and her gp later told her it was the worst thing she could have done as she was keeping the bacteria in her gut. She was ill for about 3 weeks in the end.

Lots of hand washing, wipes down hard surfaces with hot soapy water. Separate hand towels for each family member. If you can get you partner to deal with any sick or diarrhoea and hope for the best.

I wouldn't fret about X rays that early many women would have x rays in that situation. I would mention your concerns to your midwife at your booking appointment and raise the dates. They can decide the best time to book the dating scan. Dates are all guess work until you get this scan anyway and then there's a 5 week window for term!

Thank you. They ask us to self refer at 6-7 weeks and see us for booking in at around 9wks. Do you think I should wait until I KNOW I am around 6 weeks or just do it now (6wks from LMP) as they will probably go off LMP not my clear blue result 😂? If I have my 12 week scan and it turns out I am only 10 weeks would they rescan at 12 do you think?

Do it based on lmp. I think it's always best to go on the longest date and then have a chat.
The dating scan is between 10 and 14 weeks so they might suggest having it at 12 weeks then if you are 10 weeks they can still use the scan. If you had it at 10 weeks and were actually 8 weeks they then might want to rescan.
