@Superscientist that's nice your work is understanding, you need to put your feet up! Are you vomiting or just feeling sick? I'm struggling with the 24/7 sickness but haven't actually vomited so aware it could get a lot worse, but dry retching and that feeling that I'm about to be sick all the time is wearing bloody thin!

@Oldshoe52 please try not to worry - as I said I measured a whole week behind at my scan yesterday (measured as 6+2 but dates are 7+2)! I've read SO many accounts on Mumsnet of women saying the same with scans before 8 weeks, and it all turned out ok. They're so tiny at this stage that the slightest discrepancy can throw your dates off. That's the only reason I didn't panic when she measured me as a week behind and she also told me it looked perfectly healthy, apparent date discrepancy at this stage is no cause for worry. It sounds like all the signs are you've got a healthy baby so congrats ♥️ if you need peace of mind maybe do another at 10 weeks?

Superscientist · 16/07/2024 16:01

Thanks @m00ngirl they are good. I probably had 2-3 weeks off in total over my last pregnancy with pregnancy sickness. I have a mental health condition too and they factor that in too

I've been sick 1-3 times a day for close to two weeks but since Sunday it has been accompanied with a lot more nausea. I haven't been sick today but not let up on the nausea and now hitting my ability to eat and drink. I was taking 10 minutes to eat a cashew early as I could only nibble it!

I would take being sick a dozen times with respite in between rather than the persistent nausea!

Thanks for your kind message, it does help & you are totally right. I'm feeling a bit better now that I'm home & have had some time to think everything through & decompress. I've decided I'm just going to carry on like I never had the scan today (obviously taking the heartbeat as a massive positive) but not dwell on anything else.

She did also say I had slight bruising near where the baby was positioned which would explain the little bit of implanatation bleeding I had a few days before my period was due - hoping that doesn't bring any more issues!

hope everyone is feeling okay today & all of our little beans are cosy & happy in their bed wombs 🤣

Joleyjojo · 17/07/2024 07:11

@Oldshoe52 how amazing you saw a heartbeat. Sorry you feel worried but I have seen and read lots of things that the dates can be off this early. Fingers crossed you can relax a little bit xxx

i am 5 weeks today by LMP but I know I ovulated CD16/17 so I suppose technically I’m not 5 weeks. I am still weeing on sticks every morning and the lines are great. Dye stealers on FR and as dark on ICs. I will be doing a digi on Friday that Will hopefully say 3+ then im stopping.

I am worried though as I don’t feel pregnant I’m not really having any symptoms. I just want to feel something. I am trying to relax and tell myself it’s early etc but it’s hard isn’t it. Because I found out so early it is going really slowly and expect more if that makes sense. But , I have to be positive I’m not bleeding, had a few light cramps, and strong positives.

I hope everyone is doing ok, congratulations to everyone x

IMBCRound2 · 17/07/2024 08:01

Joining tentatively - ivf baby 🥰 bfp 7dp5dt

Anxiety through the roof but trying to stay positive and enjoy it all! My other little one is snoring away next to me and I had absolutely no symptoms with her so who knows this time.

Newbornmum · 17/07/2024 08:55

Hello everyone, congratulations! Can I join please? I really ought to change my name given that DS1 is now 1!Got my bfp last Friday and 5 weeks after my lmp today - due 19th of March by lmp. I don't know when I ovulated because I ran out of opks 🤦.

Have had nausea (coming and going which is making me feel so so anxious), sore breasts and some soreness when bf my DS, metallic taste, cramping, soooooo tired (but DS doesn't sleep very well so not sure how much of that is pregnancy) and needing to wee a heck of a lot! I'd almost forgotten how incredibly nerve-wracking the first trimester in particular is! Is anyone else struggling with feeling really anxious because symptoms are coming and going all the time? I've only done a couple of tests - not sure if I should do more to check the line is dark etc or if that will just make me more worried.

Sending everyone lots of congrats and well wishes and thinking of those of you who've suffered previous losses and/or anyone who's feeling especially anxious 💕 x

PregnantNowScrewed · 17/07/2024 09:51

Hi everyone…I disappeared for a week as I’ve been in sad pregnancy limbo!

I went for an early scan at 6+1 but only measured 5+1. Very sure of my dates and in fact ovulated a day or 2 early so was expecting to measure ahead. I’ve had 4mcs before, 2 of them missed, so completely assumed the worst and have been feeling very sorry for myself! But I’ve just had my repeat scan and there is a baby with a heartbeat measuring 6+2, so the right amount of growth since my last scan.

I still don’t understand it at all as I should be 7+2 but the hospital said it just happens sometimes and everything looks perfectly fine - heartbeat is strong. I’m just going to take each day as it comes - have a repeat scan in 2 weeks. Don’t think I will stop being anxious about it but for now all is ok.

PregnantNowScrewed · 17/07/2024 09:53

@m00ngirl just catching up - looks like we are in exactly the same boat!

seenomore1579 · 17/07/2024 10:27

I got a BFP yesterday.
I was not expecting it at all. I have a 22 month old DD. I went off the combined pill in April only because I have PCOS and so did not think I would get pregnant without intervention. With our first it took a 1.5 years of trying.
I am really excited but also nervous. I would've stayed on the pill longer if I thought it was realistic for me to get pregnant. I came off earlier rather than later so that I can start investigating my fertility. But I am so happy that my daughter will have a sibling already.
My LMP was on 6th June but I've no idea when I ovulated so I could be anywhere between 4 and 6 weeks along.
I only tested because I was having PMS symptoms for a week but no period and it was a proper dye stealer! It was a cheap Amazon test so I've ordered a digital test to confirm.

NewMumSendHelp · 17/07/2024 11:01

@26dX and @Kingofthetyrantlizards I feel you. My symptoms have fully kicked in now, I feel exhausted and so sick all day long. My last pregnancy I was sick multiple times a day, I’m not there yet but the constant nausea is horrible. I almost threw up over my toddler this morning when I was changing her nappy. It’s really hard doing the 1st trimester and trying to be a good mum to my toddler, I have so much guilt😔

HRHXO · 17/07/2024 12:26

Tentatively joining in if that's okay... I'm only 9dpo but had a bfp on easy @ home yesterday abd confirmed today with a frer today. I feel like I'm jinxing myself somehow?! I already have a 23 month old DS and he was born 9 weeks premature so I'm a little nervous! I'd be due around 29th March but it's likely I'll have another premature baby so due dates mean nothing to me lol. I considered joining/making an April due date thread due to the fact a lot of you will be quote a bit further along than me but since I will likely give birth early I thought I'd join in here. Anyone else only 9dpo and any other preemie mums here?

Saim86 · 17/07/2024 13:11

congratulations to all the mums who have joined…how are the other mums doing ? I have had vvv mild nausea last couple days but nothing to much was sick yesterday after I missed 3 doses of meds but felt like I needed it to give my body a reset !!

MrsWindrush · 17/07/2024 13:24

@NewMumSendHelp I threw up in the loo the other evening less than a metre from my little boy who was having his bath - not my finest moment! He got quite upset about it too, bless him, but he's too young (18 months) to understand. Am also napping whenever he does as not sure I'd keep going otherwise!

My dad was born at 28 weeks and just 1kg in the 60s. He is the eldest of 5 and all of his siblings were born at full term so fingers crossed for you.

Congratulations!

Superscientist · 17/07/2024 14:13

I have just had to boot my preschooler off the toilet to throw up (she had finished she just likes to spend ages on the toilet after she's done). My body kindly waited until my parents left so they didn't see me nauseous and sick giving the game away!

HRHXO · 17/07/2024 14:57

@Superscientist thank you, always nice to hear stories of successful pregnancies post preemie and stories of preemies growing up to be fine!

28 weeks and 1kg when he was born was the edge of life. My nan was told to go home and grieve for her son. He got bronchiolitis when he was in hospital. He was discharged when he was 8 weeks old /36 weeks gestation corrected once he reached 2.5kg. He needed a couple of operations as a child due to ball issues... His testicles didn't drop and was told he wouldn't be able to have kids (he had 2). He also needed an operation on his eyes, either due to prematurity or due to get measles or both. He has a lazy eye. His opticians is amazed by the amount of vision he still has given he had the op in the 60s and says he must have had an exceptional surgeon. He has done remarkably well given his early start!

A friend of mine had their first at 37 weeks, I know not quite prem/early, and they were told their second would be the same or earlier. Number 2 was induced around 38-39 weeks. It's all a guessing game!

I will say when I was expecting my daughter that I felt a sigh of relief once her predicted size was above my dad's birth weight. The progress that has been made in the last 60 years is amazing!

SharingEasesWorries · 17/07/2024 17:21

Hello guys. Can I ask a quick question about taking antihistamines during pregnancy? What's the advice on that? Is it ok to take them ? Especially I feel like I might need them as the weather is good. And normally I have a bad case of pollen

Izzy98 · 17/07/2024 17:26

Had an ear infection the last 2 days on top of feeling nauseous every waking minute but not actually being sick along with all the other symptoms and it’s so debilitating not being able to take stronger pain relief for the infection. Also been put on the lowest dose of the safest antibiotics they could find and I hope they kick in soon.

So does anyone know if there’s any ear drops that are safe because all of the ones they wanted to prescribe weren’t safe for use during pregnancy and I need some relief soon.

SharingEasesWorries · 17/07/2024 17:49

Superscientist · 17/07/2024 17:30

@SharingEasesWorries NHS page recommends loratidine in pregnancy
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/antihistamines/

@Izzy98 these drops can be used in pregnancy

It is probably worth a chat with your pharmacists to double check but there will be options for both of you x

Thanks for that. Yeah I will probably go to the pharmacist just to be sure

@Superscientist thank you, always nice to hear stories of successful pregnancies post preemie and stories of preemies growing up to be fine!

Congrats!

DH was born at 26-weeks, has done him no harm.

Looks like the sickness and nausea is ramping up for us all!

Please don't worry about measurements at this stage, it is so hard to get accurate measurements. My first daughter, even with IVF confirmed dates her measurements never matched up! Measures are just an average so if you are shorter or taller they will be different. The main things is you've seen a heart beat.

I'm in for my scan tomorrow, I'm a bag of nerves and excitement. I'm hoping for the best but expecting the worse sadly.

I did get a 3+ on a digital last night so make of that what you will 🙂

I've booked in with the midwife, booking appointment set for 7th August.

MrsWindrush · 17/07/2024 18:39

@Mrbay how far along do you reckon you'll be when you see the midwife for your booking appointment? I've self referred online but haven't heard anything yet and am wondering when I ought to ring up to chase!

jellyfish2 · 17/07/2024 18:43

@MrsWindrush I'm only going to be 7 weeks when I get mine! When I referred myself I told them when I ovulated as it was really late but they've said they still go by lmp which is really annoying. So at my scan I'm only going to be 10 weeks. Hoping that means I'll get to go back and it's all good news.

Mrbay · 17/07/2024 19:27

@MrsWindrush - I'll be 9 weeks. I was pretty surprised that I've already got an appointment, only registered last night at 10pm.
I would give them a call just in case as they like to see you before 10 weeks so they get your 12 weeks scan booked in.
