Continuation from thread 7 over here; https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/5070517-september-2024-thread-7?page=40

Can't believe we filled the last thread up already feels like it wasn't even made that long ago, gosh time is absolutely flying by!!

@WinsandSam - I'll have to ask about CBT for sure, thanks so much for the recommendation - maybe I'll actually get some help seeing as I'm pregnant!

I've been trying to get mental health support for... Well to be honest since teen-hood and realising my daily crying was not in fact "just my period/puberty" as every doctor told me it was (all males ofc, typical 🙄) so I don't hold out much hope if I'm being honest.
I originally wanted to wait until my MH was sorted before ttc, but after over a decade I was running out of fertile time frankly, so here I am still with crazy anxiety and emotional dysregulation, but what can ya do?! 😅

As requested a new thread for us all! 🥰 can't believe its thread 7 already! Then hopefully by thread 14 we'll all have our babies in our arms talkin...

Oh amazing, you’re so organised 🤝🏻😂 I love that.

My eldest does get free hours, I just envisioned a tricky settling into primary if I’d moved him around nurseries for one term, and also had a new baby at home by the time he starts school. In hindsight, should’ve just bunged them into a nursery to save my sanity (and most likely theirs 😂😂) so hard lesson learnt 🫠🫠

😂 always yes!! I’m so bad at asking for help, or even accepting help. I have very stubborn “I can do it all myself mentality” but as of late I’ve accepted all the help and it’s been great. That’s what I want as baby shower gifts.. offers of help. Not limited to; baby sitting, home cooked food, offers to clean the house (not just come and hold the baby) etc! Sure outfits and things are very cute but thinking of mum is so much more thoughtful and goes along way when recovering! 🫶🏼

SpicyMoth · 02/07/2024 18:58

Not having troubles with needing to pee loads during the night or anything, but I am however getting absolutely horrendous dry mouth at night - It's more a case for me that I'm having to get up to get more water as two glasses just ain't cutting it anymore!

I'm fairly sure it's related to snoring honestly, as I have definitely had an absolutely MASSIVE growth spurt again and the snoring is ramping up according to my DH 😅

I did a wee comparison photo today and I was frankly floored at how huge I am and there's still 9 or so weeks to go?!!
I get that I'm short but holy shit I feel like there's a whole basketball in there, I've deffo gained weight I think, but not enough to cause THAT much of a change surely?!!

Just returned from my first triage appointment after getting a headache, visual disturbances and swollen feet. Stupidly took my bp at work and it was 150/110, so set me off into an absolute panic of a meltdown. Thinking about having another early birth.

Bp has returned to the safe zone, although on the high end so I’m gonna be monitored more regularly, and headache was due to a migraine. But thinking I had pre eclampsia again probably caused my bp to go up in the first place

WinsandSam · 02/07/2024 20:29

So many questions today!

Did any of you do the birth uprising? Hypnobirthing course I've just done the free taster session. I think it seems quite good considering signing up for it. Worth it at this stage?

I am having a c section but know you can still use the course

Lillers · 02/07/2024 21:02

@WinsandSam I’ve signed up for their course - haven’t started it yet but really looking forward to it after their taster session a few weeks ago.

mrsbgb · 02/07/2024 21:12

@Lillers @WinsandSam I haven’t finished it yet but am doing TBU course and it’s excellent, would thoroughly recommend!

WinsandSam · 02/07/2024 21:18

Thanks @Lillers @mrsbgb
It's really cheap too so thought it'd be worth it

Such a good idea!! “No babygrows please, just a promise you’ll help with my washing up when I’m postpartum if poss” 🤣

I’ve never really understood that, people desperate to come around and meet the baby and tripping over themselves to hold them to “help me out”. When it’s like, actually, I don’t want my new baby prized off of me. That’s actually my favourite part of being postpartum, just cuddling my newborn and staring at them. My problem is the housework and everything else I need to do that I can’t find time for. Someone running a hoover over my living room would be worth millions, not having to watch my new baby being manoeuvred around the room like pass the parcel 🥲

Honeyandsunshine1 · 02/07/2024 21:42

Hope you’re ok @Emmaev 🤍 are you still in triage or back home now? I had a similar event a few weeks ago and it scared the shit out of me, so I empathise. I was in the taxi to the hospital panicking thinking “this is it. Preeclampsia again. Going to have to have the baby at 28 weeks 😫” sending you lots of love! X

@WinsandSam deffo recommend the birth uprising. Not done their course yet but the taster was good and their videos online, both instagram and TikTok, are brilliant so I imagine the course will be just as good 💥

Emmaev · 03/07/2024 08:03

@Honeyandsunshine1 i came home a couple hours later, so glad I went though or the anxiety would have consumed me. So glad that everything is looking good and baby girl is happy in there. But what a stress pregnancy is after premature labour/pre eclampsia. I feel constantly on edge. 31 weeks was when the hospital visits started with my daughter and my pre eclampsia was diagnosed, and I’m 31+2 now so hyper vigilant.

Decaffe · 03/07/2024 08:43

Decaffe · 01/07/2024 10:03

Thanks all, I did request it but she said as my bump is measuring on about 60th percentile it is unlikely they’d agree it but she would email the consultant to ask.

Anyway, all good with the midwife, he has moved from transverse to breech!

Just a shame I now have to go to work 😂 Happy Monday all!

As an update, I am pleasantly surprised that the consultant has agreed to do a reassurance scan next week, because I am ‘in between pathways’ in that while there are no current concerns with the actual pregnancy, I do have medical concerns/risk factors more generally. So I’ll be getting a scan at 30w0d which I am really pleased about.

My blood test results have come back as anaemic so I’ve got to start taking ferrous tablets - finding a three hour window without any tea/coffee will be hard!

My PGP is getting worse I feel - I did see a private physio who did some manual therapy but I am very sore and stiff today. The in-laws are coming up this weekend and the plan was to visit a National Trust house and gardens. WIBU to say to DH and PILs that I’ll have to stay at home while they go without me?! I walked less than 5k (7,000 steps) yesterday and I’m really paying for it today.

PoppingUp · 03/07/2024 09:11

@Decaffe absolutely rest up! You've got a lot of weeks to get through yet so don't want to do any more to aggravate it than you possibly can help! Is heat or ice helpful at all? When I pulled a stomach muscle a few weeks ago I panic ordered a load of those instant ice and heat packs and now have them in the car and in my handbag in case anything similar happens again. Ive not needed them but it's made me feel a bit more confident getting out and about.

malimoon · 03/07/2024 09:12

@Decaffe if you can't manage the walking then I think totally fair to skip the trip. Or just go and sit in the tea room while they walk around the gardens. If your PIL are anything like my partner's family they will be very excited about baby and very understanding of the pregnancy tribulations necessary to get the baby here!

Decaffe · 03/07/2024 10:00

@PoppingUp I do find a hot bath is soothing! I do have some of those hot/cool pads in a drawer somewhere, I’ll root them out, thank you!

@malimoon you legend, I didn’t even think of just sitting in the cafe while they wander round but that is an absolutely brilliant solution, thank you. I’ll feel as though I’m taking part but at a level that is right for me. It’s perfect. Thanks so much 🌟

malimoon · 03/07/2024 11:06

@Decaffe ah no worries, glad it helped!

Jojod12 · 03/07/2024 11:06

Hi Ladies, I don't really comment much on the threads even though I am a daily stalker :-)

I just wanted a bit of advise. I have just been for my 28 week midwife appointment and she has referred me for a growth scan, I had a feeling baby was small so I was kind of expecting to be referred (he was measuring 26cm)

I'm just wondering if any of you have been refereed, how quicky you was seen? Thanks - trying not to worry.

malimoon · 03/07/2024 11:09

@Jojod12 I had a growth scan after my 25 week appointment (for opposite reason, baby is big) and I had the midwife appointment on the Friday and the scan on the following Wednesday so it was a quick turnaround

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 03/07/2024 11:14

Had my 28 week appt yesterday - wasn't the best appt! Got sent to triage as had +4 ketones from the HG so spent the rest of the day having IV fluids and anti-sickness

She did my fundal height measurement and was also measuring super small at just 21cm, nowhere near the centile lines - so I've been referred for a growth scan which I've got this afternoon. Looking forward to seeing baby, but a little anxious for the scan too.

Another thing - i'm sure my bump keeps going hard - is it braxton hicks? No pain at all, I just feel like it feels harder - but then I don't know if it could just be baby pushing herself out, as it doesn't last long. I never had this with my first born!

Ritagoestohollywood · 03/07/2024 11:50

@Jojod12
Hi
Also don’t comment often but daily stalker and enjoy everyone updates :)
i am 28 weeks and I had a growth scan last week, for small growth, they scanned me and I saw the consultant straight after who went through the scan results, it was reassuring everything was ok baby is measuring at 50th but I take it with a pinch of salt.

good luck with the scan you do right not to worry x x

MrsM89 · 03/07/2024 12:29

I've been getting so many braxton hicks so could be @BeautyAndTheBump1 good luck with the scan. Xx

MudandMoet · 03/07/2024 12:41

I've just had a 32week check with the MW. She listened to baby's heartbeat and all seems well. She said my bump is measuring small but the growth scans are showing little miss on the 50th centile so not concerned. I've got another growth scan next Tuesday at 32+6

@BeautyAndTheBump1 my bump is rock hard on the right hand side but MW has just said it's baby's back pushing right up to it. Her bum is under my ribs and head down in pelvis area.

Jojod12 · 03/07/2024 13:22

Thank you for the reply's, still waiting for the hospital to ring to get me booked in. Nothing like making you wait!

@BeautyAndTheBump1 I too keep getting a hard bump and cant work out whether its Braxton Hicks or its the baby pushing out. Good Luck with the scan today.

tryingfortwo2 · 03/07/2024 15:04

@Jojod12 my bump measured small on Monday at my 31week appt and I was referred for a growth scan. Similar to others, it was a fairly speedy turn around and I was seen the next afternoon (yesterday) so fingers crossed you don’t have long to wait until you hear.

SantasRubiksCube · 03/07/2024 19:30

Evening all, has anyone had any symptoms of preeclampsia? All my midwife checks of urine and blood pressure have been fine and all scans of baby have been fine, I'm just getting myself in a bit of a tizz. I woke up today with the most awful pounding headache, I've been taking paracetamol and drinking plenty but it just won't shift, I still have it now and at work this lunchtime I had a funny few seconds, not really dizziness as such but was like my eyes couldn't focus and were all blurry, I was ok again after a minute or two but I've never experienced that before, even when I've had migraines. I'm guessing bad headaches and blurry eyes wouldn't just happen suddenly one day if it was preeclampsia, would be more of a build up? I'm going to see how I feel in the morning and if my head is still pounding I'll call midwife

Cat2022 · 03/07/2024 20:01

@SantasRubiksCube that sounds similar to what i have been getting. 2 doctors think it is an aura related to migraines and they said if you have a history of migraines it’s a condition that pregnancy can make worse. If I was you I’d still go get checked just to be safe but it does sound like the same thing - if your blood pressure is fine then that’s a good sign.
