Continuation from thread 7 over here; https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/5070517-september-2024-thread-7?page=40

Can't believe we filled the last thread up already feels like it wasn't even made that long ago, gosh time is absolutely flying by!!

@WinsandSam - I'll have to ask about CBT for sure, thanks so much for the recommendation - maybe I'll actually get some help seeing as I'm pregnant!

I've been trying to get mental health support for... Well to be honest since teen-hood and realising my daily crying was not in fact "just my period/puberty" as every doctor told me it was (all males ofc, typical 🙄) so I don't hold out much hope if I'm being honest.
I originally wanted to wait until my MH was sorted before ttc, but after over a decade I was running out of fertile time frankly, so here I am still with crazy anxiety and emotional dysregulation, but what can ya do?! 😅

As requested a new thread for us all! 🥰 can't believe its thread 7 already! Then hopefully by thread 14 we'll all have our babies in our arms talkin...

For bad heartburn that Gavisgon doesn't touch, I highly recommend Omeprazole (obviously check with midwife if your ok to have it first) you can buy it over the counter I just take 1 tablet in the morning and it's honestly helped me soooo much! I can sleep without having to jump up with a throat full of acid every 5 minutes, it's awesome 😁 on a different note, is anyone else finding the stresses of everyday life too overwhelming to deal with? I've had problems with my car and pain in the arse furniture problems and just normal life stuff and it just feels like I can't be bothered to deal with any of it, like 'hello, pregnant here, can't someone else sort all it all out?!' 😂 might just be hormonal but I just want to have a little cry whenever something happens

WinsandSam · 02/07/2024 11:43

How many times are people getting up each night for a wee? Some nights I'm about 5 times 😭 just want a full nights sleep

RosiePH · 02/07/2024 11:55

Does anyone get any side effects from omeprazole? I’m going to have to try something other than gaviscon, but now a bit nervous after the awful bloating (and general slowing of the digestive system) that’s it’s caused me!

I was so pleased that I finally got a Tripp Trapp base on Marketplace and now I’ve realised that it’s the old style and not compatible with the newborn attachment! I think I’ve overpaid too 😭 now hoping I can sell it for the £100 I bought it for so I can get another.

PoppingUp · 02/07/2024 12:24

@RosiePH ive been on omeprazole since 24 weeks and it's been great- no side effects and an unexpected plus is that my digestion improved because I wasn't taking too many rennies! I had it prescribed by the doctor, I'd not realised it was available over the counter.

@WinsandSam i'm probably an outlier in the other direction with a bladder of steel but I've only been getting up once in the night. Do you have to go lots during the day too? I know some people go too often (my DP for one) and it can train the bladder to want to empty when it's not actually particularly full but if it's waking you up at night then that's not very easy to try and ignore!

I'm off work on hols this week and have been having a lot of naps- still got 9ish weeks left before mat leave but I'm planning to spread annual leave out to do progressively shorter weeks so only actually have two 'full' weeks left at work. Everything feels both really soon and really far away still!

I've also got my partner reluctantly sorting through an old dresser filled with junk today in the hopes that we can start finding proper homes for all the baby bits soon, rather than the current pile of doom in the spare room! @Lillers When I tell him to look at my belly moving he always starts rubbing it or prodding it and then misses the movement he's meant to be paying attention to 😅 I've been enjoying the bizarre big belly movements that have started for me in the last couple of days- it always sets me off giggling when it happens as it looks so strange! Baby definitely responds to wee rubs and pokes now of an evening too- it's starting to feel properly like there's a wee person in there wanting to play ☺️

cd24x · 02/07/2024 12:25

@WinsandSam I think my record has been 4 times in one night. Having to up my water intake due to gestational diabetes and getting my sugar levels under control - it's playing havoc with my sleep!

rupertbear91 · 02/07/2024 13:35

@RosiePH I have been on omoprozol too since 20 weeks and it's been great no side effects for me.

@WinsandSam 5 times sounds exhausting I am moaning about getting up once!

@SantasRubiksCube I get the not wanting to deal with normal life crap. I'm usually such a patient person and let things wash over but everything just feels like a massive pain in the backside to sort at the minute I don't have the energy for normal people problems as well as pregnancy ones

Khanga27 · 02/07/2024 13:43

@RosiePH oh no that’s gutting. I’m looking at Tripp trapp as my DB and SIL have it and it looks good. It’s so expensive for everything full price though, think I’m going to perhaps try eclipse nursery website I think. Initially saw on John Lewis but it’s just so much!!
I’ve only had gaviscon or rennies for any reflux I’ve had - you tried rennies?

MudandMoet · 02/07/2024 14:00

Another one here that's fallen out with my sofa. In fact I've just done 4.5 hours interviewing for a new teacher and for the last 1.5 hours I was thinking to myself I've got that horrible sofa feeling where I just fidget and move around too much because I can't get my bump comfortable. Not nice.

@RosiePH this may sound daft but I had to do it twice recently and it's worked instantly for me... I've had bad heartburn that neither rennies, gaviscon dual action tablets or liquid hasn't touched so have drank around 3 tablespoons of pickled onion vinegar and bam I swear it's been gone within a minute. No idea if it's safe or normal but heard of it years ago and it's my go to now for sure!

@WinsandSam 4 times on average - 3 times definitely, 5 times a few times a week. Really bothering me the broken sleep, desperately try to not wake up fully for each wee if you know what I mean... it's just crap! Doesn't seem to make any difference how much I drink or don't before bed either.

MrsM89 · 02/07/2024 14:17

Just booked a 4d scan for Thursday. :-).

Im sitting here nervous atm as got the paediatric urology surgeon calling me to discuss baby at 3pm. Making it all more real. Xx

WinsandSam · 02/07/2024 14:18

@PoppingUp wow that's a real dream!! I do go a fair amount during the day too. Always had a sensitive bladder so that probably doesn't help.

@cd24x it's a nightmare!

@rupertbear91 yep, totally exhausted. On a good night it may be twice and has no relevance to what I drink and timings.

@MudandMoet glad I'm not alone! It's so frustrating. Like you say, no correlation between what I drink and when. Last night was rough, think 5/6 times! When it's once I feel so refreshed 😴 always worse beginning of night until 2am. Then tend to sleep until around 5ish which for me is a good chunk

RosiePH · 02/07/2024 14:34

@Khanga27 i wish I’d just bought it new now! I will probably get it from John Lewis now as I have some vouchers which will help soften the cost. I did manage to get the newborn attachment on FB Marketplace too from another seller, so I could just buy the base.

The newborn attachment did seem clean and freshly washed but I washed it again for my own peace of mind and then found some dried baby sick on the plastic base 🫣 this is the kind of thing that puts me off buying second hand! I’ve given it a good clean but will give it another as there’s a tiny bit caught in one of the grooves. I suppose most second-hand baby stuff will have had milk and baby sick on it at some point!

Glad I’m not the only one who is suffering from terrible heartburn - nice to have some solidarity! I filled in my GP online form and they are ringing me in an hour so hopefully I can get a prescription or advice on dosage if I buy it OTC.

longingtobe23 · 02/07/2024 14:34

I managed to get a new Tripp trapp for £179 from winstanleys and the newborn attachment for £40 on FB market place! Which I hope to sell on afterwards. It was still hefty but that’ll be kept for minimum 2-3 years so I thought worth investing!

Cat2022 · 02/07/2024 16:05

@MrsM89 I hope your appointment went okay!

I seen the GP today and they wrote me a line to say I should work from home due to the fainting and dizzy spells. The theory is they are being caused by silent migraines but essentially nothing I can do until baby is here but she hopes there’s a chance it will improve as the third trimester goes on. I’m feeling awkward about telling my work about the wfh as they are very big on us being in the office.

@RosiePH I have had a similar experience second hand before so I’m very fussy but in reality our own babies will probably have things filthy before long.

MudandMoet · 02/07/2024 16:10

@WinsandSam we are definitely in sync! I get up three times between going tomorrow before at 11 ish until 2am, then I generally have one around 5am and if I'm very very lucky will nod off until the alarm at 6:45. I keep joking I'll get more sleep when baby girl is here!

Lillers · 02/07/2024 16:37

As far as night wee goes, I’ve been relatively lucky - I’ll usually go twice before I go to sleep (once when I’m getting ready for bed, and then again when I think I’m about to fall asleep but can’t and realise it’s because I need another wee!) Then any time after that I try not to get up because if the cat hears me she’ll start crying for breakfast. As it is she’s coming up at 3.30am when DH will get up to feed her and let her out, so I go for my night wee then. Whatever time I wake up needing to go, I can usually tell myself I’ll be ok until 3.30.

In terms on not caring about other people’s problems, for me it is massively extending to work now too. I literally do not care. I was on my way out yesterday and got ambushed by 2 senior members of staff who were hounding me about some numbers for a project I already closed last week, and I just stood there while they kept talking, and when they finished I just said, “I’m going to be honest guys, I really don’t care.” And then I left. It was great!

MudandMoet · 02/07/2024 17:18

Not sure where my tomorrow came from in there 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

That's amazing you can wait @Lillers I need to retrain my brain/bladder asap!

HRP1990 · 02/07/2024 17:21

I’m feeling okay physically.. no heartburn, nothing is swelling, I’m not getting up to wee at night (sorry girls) for me it’s mentally. Being pregnant with a toddler, who goes to nursery 1.5 days a week and being self employed is just 🤯. My mind literally isn’t switching off. I have lists coming out my arse (hospital bag/nursery/general baby list.) Trying to renovate the house.. potty train my daughter/get her into a toddler bed and out of the cot. The only thing I’m doing for myself is Pilates and I’m on the verge of being kicked out of.

Waa 😂🥹

WinsandSam · 02/07/2024 17:23

@MudandMoet we are the poor sleep twins!! 😂 I could happily sleep from 5ish until 9 if I didn't have a job. Maybe I'll do that on maternity leave. Like you say, we're well prepared for what's to come after September!

WinsandSam · 02/07/2024 17:26

@Lillers I think I'd actually wee the bed if I held it 😂😂

I also don't give a anymore. Especially about work! Today they annoyed me as it appears my useless manager hasn't submitted my maternity paperwork and it was due weeks ago! So I cried, sent some sassy emails and have been catching up on crap tv all afternoon. They can stick it! 🤣

malimoon · 02/07/2024 17:31

this is such a TMI so I apologise but guys I am having such a painful time with haemorrhoids 😭they will be fine for a few days and then yowza really painful and i'm hobbling around for two days until it goes off again. have been in the office today and just sitting on my office chair hurts! i think i have to get one of those shameful doughnut pillows that is like signalling to everybody 'i have piles' ahahaha waaah the indignities of pregnancy

Honeyandsunshine1 · 02/07/2024 18:03

I really feel your pain @HRP1990 😭 both mine were at nursery 2 days a week until 3 months ago when their nursery shut with no notice. Absolute pain in the feckinnnn arse. My eldest is due to start school in September so didn’t want to move to a new place just for one term to then move again, as baby is due right around school start time so there’s already. lot of change happening in a small space f time but Jesus Christ on a bike, having a 4 and 2.5 year old home 24/7 is not for the weak. I feel deceased. Mentally, I am fried. 💀😂😂

I honestly don’t know what I’d do if her nursery closed! Thank GOD (on a bike lol) that she was born in March and got her free hours 😂 I’ve already signed up this unborn child to start next September because they have free hours too! (I seem to conceive at a good time for funding lol.)

Hats off to you doing it x2, pregnant with no childcare, what a women 💪🏻

SC126 · 02/07/2024 18:27

@malimoon you ain’t the only one with haemorrhoids 😩 I suffered in my last pregnancy too. It’s just from the weight of baby pressing down. I can say they went away right after birth though. Get germaloid cream and special wipes to use after bathroom. I find it most uncomfortable at nighttime. Also sorry to say but your bumhole will never look pretty again 🙈😂

malimoon · 02/07/2024 18:32

@SC126 honestly at the moment the aesthetics is low on my list of concerns hahaha I just want to not be hurting! At least I only have 12 more weeks (ish) to soldier through it

Oh amazing, you’re so organised 🤝🏻😂 I love that.

My eldest does get free hours, I just envisioned a tricky settling into primary if I’d moved him around nurseries for one term, and also had a new baby at home by the time he starts school. In hindsight, should’ve just bunged them into a nursery to save my sanity (and most likely theirs 😂😂) so hard lesson learnt 🫠🫠
