Continuation from thread 7 over here; https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/5070517-september-2024-thread-7?page=40

Can't believe we filled the last thread up already feels like it wasn't even made that long ago, gosh time is absolutely flying by!!

@WinsandSam - I'll have to ask about CBT for sure, thanks so much for the recommendation - maybe I'll actually get some help seeing as I'm pregnant!

I've been trying to get mental health support for... Well to be honest since teen-hood and realising my daily crying was not in fact "just my period/puberty" as every doctor told me it was (all males ofc, typical 🙄) so I don't hold out much hope if I'm being honest.
I originally wanted to wait until my MH was sorted before ttc, but after over a decade I was running out of fertile time frankly, so here I am still with crazy anxiety and emotional dysregulation, but what can ya do?! 😅

As requested a new thread for us all! 🥰 can't believe its thread 7 already! Then hopefully by thread 14 we'll all have our babies in our arms talkin...

@Cat2022 I’ve started slowly buying a few things for the hospital bag too. Also things for baby like infacol, Calpol etc for the early days.

So I got told today at my reformer class I should probably start looking into a pregnancy friendly alternative 🥹 basically.. you’re too pregnant please stop 😂 makes me sad I’ve reached that point now, but I guess they’re right, I’m 30 weeks next week. What is everyone else doing? I don’t think I’m a yoga girl.. but I can’t help but feel something like swimming isn’t going to replace what I was doing at reformer? I basically want to keep exercising otherwise everything I’ve been doing will end up be for nothing if I go cold turkey.

Anyway, word vomit! Any recommendations welcome!

Xur · 28/06/2024 21:00

@SantasRubiksCube I don’t hear the blood flowing but I have a heavy pulse, sometimes my whole abdomen is pulsating with heartbeat, it’s even visible.

my baby had hiccups today 🤣🤣🤣

TripleESept24 · 28/06/2024 21:16

WinsandSam · 27/06/2024 21:46

@SantasRubiksCube I had a meltdown on Sunday as have nothing organised/done. We have clothes in carrier bags and this is the nursery 😬 no car seat, Moses basket, mattress for cot etc etc. we're away this week so nothing I can do about it.
Haven't even considered my hospital bag either 😭

I'm not even getting the mattress for the cot yet! Baby won't sleep in there for 6 months, it isn't a priority really!

LSW82 · 28/06/2024 21:38

@longingtobe23 that nipple balm also makes a great lip balm, I have a small tube I use for that

malimoon · 28/06/2024 21:48

@HRP1990 I'm not sure what you're looking for from your workout (like, what it was you liked about the reformer class) but I'm a big big advocate for swimming - it's a really good combo of strength and cardio plus it's low impact. You can push yourself as much or little as you like. And it's also just really nice to be in the water and have it carry the weight of the bump!

tryingfortwo2 · 28/06/2024 22:07

You’re all spurring me on to get a move on.. I’ll be 32 weeks on Tuesday and we’ve done exactly zero to prep for this baby arriving!

We’ve had an insanely busy few weeks and today is DD’s 2nd birthday, but things should calm down after this weekend so maybe it’s time to look out everything we already have. I fear I’m relying too heavily on us being kitted out already, only to soon discover the baby car seat has gone mouldy and the next to me is equally condemned… must get on with checking!

Just in case you need that extra push.. our carseat had mould on the straps when I bought it down from the loft 🙈

@malimoon I’m not sure if it’s the endorphins I feel after.. or it’s group setting, music etc! Perhaps I’ll give swimming ago now we’re in summer. We live by the sea so I could always get back into sea swimming

PoppingUp · 29/06/2024 07:39

@HRP1990 I've been cold water swimming a couple of times this week on my hols in the highlands and found I held my temperature better than I normally would and much better than my boyfriend! So some sea swimming might be just the ticket for keeping that third trimester bump heat under control and keeping those endorphins flowing!

malimoon · 29/06/2024 08:42

@HRP1990 oh gosh if I lived near the sea I'd be out every day while it's hot! So jealous and I do find cold water gives that endorphin buzz once you're out

HRP1990 · 29/06/2024 09:04

Thanks girls @PoppingUp @malimoon yes that’s so true! I do always feel amazing when I get out of the cold water - I’ll take myself for a dip this afternoon!

WinsandSam · 29/06/2024 12:47

@PinkWatermelon88 that's a shame as I have a lovely green set! Maybe try Vinted?

@HRP1990 ah that's sad! I'm still at my normal class (28weeks) but she's hinted I won't be going for much longer. I did go to pregnancy yoga and wasn't for me! Too airy fairy 😂 and not much exercise. I then joined pregnancy Pilates and really enjoy it! Swimming classes I've heard about sounds great and friends have highly recommended.

@TripleESept24 I need one for the next to me cot or she'll be sleeping on hard wood 😂 I haven't got any nursery furniture at all.

@PoppingUp that sounds lovely! We're 30 mins from the beach so hoping to get some sea swimming in for last trimester

Also, exciting news! 3.5 working weeks left at work now 🥳🤪🥳

longingtobe23 · 29/06/2024 12:48

Gutted yesterday at 28 week appointment baby is fine, I got extreme white coat and BP was rocket high and protein in urine

off to hospital I went - as I got there they were so chilled and said if I get more bad readings I’m off to another hospital as they had no doctors in that day 🙈
thank the Lord it went right down and she said it looks just like I have a UTI… lovely, but better than her suspecting super early pre-eclampsia! I was stressing I’d done something wrong .. have purchased a BP machine to keep an eye just not the day I wanted ..

anyway otherwise - baby is also breech!? Anyone had theirs turn before 32 weeks? she said could be due to low placenta but also praying that moves 😂🙈

malimoon · 29/06/2024 13:49

@longingtobe23 baby was breech at my last growth scan (26ish weeks?) but they have ages yet to turn so I'm not too stressed about that yet!

longingtobe23 · 29/06/2024 13:51

@malimoon ahhh nice someone in the same boat! I wasn’t overly surprised all my kicks feels super super low. But wondering if I can get her to shimmy around in anyway - I haven’t googled that far yet 🙈
Midwife said yes they’ll check it at 36 weeks and go from there wonder if we feel them do the twist!? 🫣

Lillers · 29/06/2024 13:55

Absolutely exhausted at the minute. I think it’s a combination of being pregnant in general, the stress of managing the GD diagnosis, and the physical impact of such a radical change in diet so quickly. Apparently this is completely normal when you start following a GD diet, but that doesn’t mean it feels particularly great. I think it’s particularly disheartening when I feel like I’ve managed really well, been suffering the exhaustion of not having sugars/many carbs, and then still getting a high blood glucose reading. Most of my levels so far have been fine, but 3 of them in the last couple of days have been high. It’s so mentally draining.

I hope everyone else is doing ok! @longingtobe23 I’m glad you don’t have pre-eclampsia!

MrsM89 · 29/06/2024 17:43

Got a letter today to say I'm anemic and to start iron ASAP, recheck in a month.

I feel so unbelievably exhausted so maybe that's why. X

WinsandSam · 29/06/2024 18:11

@MrsM89 I assure you the iron makes such a difference! A couple of weeks ago I was exhausted, so breathless, dizzy etc. started prescription iron and feel like a new person!

@Lillers I imagine cutting out the carbs and sugar is going to hit you hard. My body wouldn't know what to do!

longingtobe23 · 29/06/2024 18:32

@Lillers im sorry as well that you’re going through what you are! I think I’ll be flagged now as at risk! So who knows what the next few weeks hold - I am grateful it isn’t early I’d really like to get baby to a big size and ready to arrive if anything was to occur but nobody can determine these things I suppose!
just not all in our control but you’re doing so well already I’m sure you’ll get used to it soon enough, when’s your due date? Xx

Lillers · 29/06/2024 18:47

@longingtobe23 It’s 25th September, but if the GD gets worse they might not let me go beyond 38 weeks, which’ll bring me closer to the 11th.

Honeyandsunshine1 · 29/06/2024 20:29

@longingtobe23 another breacher here 🫣 at my 28 week midwife appt the other week, they felt my bump and said baby was head down - nice 👌🏻
I then immediately went to a growth scan and they said baby was head up - great 🥲 but my documents they gave me after said “cephalic” which is head down, am I right? So honestly no idea. I do feel lots of twinges and pokes at the bottom of my belly/top of cervix so I’m convinced she is breach. I have another growth scan in 2 weeks so will let you know if there’s been any progress. I’ve just gotten myself a birthing ball to sit on for a few hours a day and also trying to lean forward and sit “open and upright” whenever I’m sat down. Just hoping for the best 🤞🏻 😂

Xur · 29/06/2024 20:49

Mine is definitely head down, has been head down for at least 3 weeks now, not sure when he turned. But we seen it on scan, then a week later midwife felt him down and dopplered him from where he was and today I checked his whereabouts with my Doppler and he’s still down, however…I feel movement around belly button and very rarely up around where my stomach is. My placenta is posterior.

HRP1990 · 29/06/2024 21:09

We’re breach over here too! I have a constant lump between my belly button and my ribs that I’m convinced is his head 🥹 makes breathing quite difficult sometimes!

I’ve seen videos of women sat on the sofa on their knees with their forearms on the floor lol in the hope it turns the baby.. god knows if it works. But he’s been breach since my 20 week scan so I’m going to do whatever I can to turn him without having to have an ECV (where they try to manually turn them 🤢)

I could have written this exact same post today. I feel absolutely shattered. Hasn't helped that DH has had awful tooth pain yesterday and today (to the point his throat swelled up so much he thought he was going to have to go to A&E at 2am this morning). Turns out he's got an infection. But it's meant a full on day in my own with a demanding toddler, coping with the exhaustion of GD diet and then having 2 high readings which have really upset me. I'm so worried about being put on metformin/insulin to control sugar levels as this seems to be the biggest driver around when/how baby arrives 😞 especially as there's not a huge window of time to turn things around.

Also got the in laws coming tomorrow and got so much housework to do which I was planning to do today. Feel a bit overwhelmed.

@longingtobe23 another breech baby over here, confirmed by 28 week scan this week, but had an inkling with all the cervix kicks! Sonographer and consultant said still plenty of time for baby to turn.

Lillers · 29/06/2024 21:37

@cd24x I’m really worried about being put on medication too - and everything I’ve read about metformin sounds horrible. I’m hoping that because my high readings have all been later in the day and after food that they’ll give me more time to work on the diet. I have a call with the diabetes midwife on Monday so hoping she’ll let me keep going for at least another week. It does seem to be the fasting rate that gets people put on meds more quickly because that’s harder to control with diet.

Honeyandsunshine1 · 29/06/2024 22:11

Saaaaame @HRP1990 i legit do not want a c sec unless it is an emergency. Problem is, her head circumference was in the 90 something percentile, so I’m worried she’s probably got it wedged under my ribs and won’t be able to flip over 😂😂
