Continuation from thread 7 over here; https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/5070517-september-2024-thread-7?page=40

Can't believe we filled the last thread up already feels like it wasn't even made that long ago, gosh time is absolutely flying by!!

@WinsandSam - I'll have to ask about CBT for sure, thanks so much for the recommendation - maybe I'll actually get some help seeing as I'm pregnant!

I've been trying to get mental health support for... Well to be honest since teen-hood and realising my daily crying was not in fact "just my period/puberty" as every doctor told me it was (all males ofc, typical 🙄) so I don't hold out much hope if I'm being honest.
I originally wanted to wait until my MH was sorted before ttc, but after over a decade I was running out of fertile time frankly, so here I am still with crazy anxiety and emotional dysregulation, but what can ya do?! 😅

As requested a new thread for us all! 🥰 can't believe its thread 7 already! Then hopefully by thread 14 we'll all have our babies in our arms talkin...

@Lillers that's reassuring - thank you! the consultant was running almost 1hr behind yesterday so they were in a rush to get me out and didn't explain things very well!

MudandMoet · 27/06/2024 15:44

Ladies, I think one of you mentioned Spatone a few days ago for increasing iron absorption. On the side of the box it's says pregnant ladies take 2 sachets... that seems a lot. Are you (whoever you were - sorry) or just sticking with one. Also, did it take long to get into your system?

I've been and got maternity pads, spritz for bits, ready made formula, fans, flip flops, pants etc etc today from town to start my hospital bag - feels so real and exciting, if not a bit nerve wracking right now!!!

SpicyMoth · 27/06/2024 18:28

Gahh, had such a horrendously depressing and busy week so just catching up with everything, so glad everyone seems to be doing well!

I had to give up my precious wee dog we've had from a puppy as he started showing some aggression entirely out of nowhere, beyond heartbroken to be honest and really struggling to come to terms with it - Don't know what to do with myself so have been putting everything into some DIY painting about the house to try and distract myself :/

30 weeks now, and FEELING IT.
PGP is at it's absolute worst and even swimming and stretching isn't helping it at all now, and absolutely cannot get up off the floor by myself anymore - Need DH to pull me up!

No full on leakage just yet, but TMI, I've been getting "sleepy dust" nipps every morning for a good few months now - Anyone else? 😂God forbid you forget to "de-crust", the itchiness you get, good grief!😅

I think it were me? I’m taking 2 in the morning on an empty stomach and just downing it. It tastes like apple cordial without the water but it’s manageable! It’s been about 10 days and I do feel abit better? My iron levels have gone up from 105-110 in the meantime, so it’s either that or adding iron to my diet that’s helping!

That’s exciting! This is my next job after I’ve finished adding the final touches to the nursery and doing all the small washing 🥹

Xur · 27/06/2024 19:12

I am taking a self care day off from work tomorrow. I went into work today because I had some bits to do and I couldn’t from home without my laptop. Today morning I felt like I’m really coming down with a virus or something but as day went by it wore off. I said to my work I won’t be in tomorrow, I said tomorrow I’m sick. I’ve explained I want to sleep this off before it starts dragging on for days and now I have come to the conclusion I think it’s from tiredness. I am one of those people who get sick when their body is tired. So essentially now even though my sickish feeling has worn off and it’s not getting worse. I will have a sick day tomorrow anyway, as a self care day. Last time I did this some years ago at a different job from being exhausted from stress. It’s sort of close to that now aswell. No regrets tomorrow I will just rest and mentally recuperate.

Xur · 27/06/2024 19:19

@SpicyMoth I’m really sorry about your dog :( it’s really hard saying goodbye to a lifelong friend 💔

MrsM89 · 27/06/2024 19:46

So sorry to hear about your dog @SpicyMoth must of been a hard decision.

Anyone noticing a huge increase in braxton hicks. I feel like I've been having them all day today and wondered if it's the heat contributing to it. X

MrsM89 · 27/06/2024 19:49

Also anyone had/having 4d scans. What sort of package/cost was it? I've seen a 5min scan, just photos for £89, 10min scan with dvd £130 and then somewhere else is up to 30min scan time £150 X

Xur · 27/06/2024 21:35

@MrsM89 where I had mine I had two options, one with growth measurements and another without. I had without but she still looked at the heartbeat and whether everything seems like is functioning alright, the only difference was that she didn’t measure the size. Well, she did, but didn’t disclose it. I saw her measuring, but it was like it wasn’t part of the programme.
Mine cost £106.00 and it was about 15-20 minutes long.

WinsandSam · 27/06/2024 21:46

@SantasRubiksCube I had a meltdown on Sunday as have nothing organised/done. We have clothes in carrier bags and this is the nursery 😬 no car seat, Moses basket, mattress for cot etc etc. we're away this week so nothing I can do about it.
Haven't even considered my hospital bag either 😭

mrsbgb · 27/06/2024 22:18

@WinsandSam if it makes you feel better, this is a lot more prepared than I am! We’re on holiday from tomorrow for two weeks and I’m hoping that time pressure will motivate me when I’m home 🙃

MudandMoet · 27/06/2024 23:25

@HRP1990 ahh thank you. I'll just have the one tomorrow as I've a reiki session at 10:30 and will worry it'll upset my tummy but shall start with two on Saturday.

@Xur good on you, sounds like you're ready for a rest day. Hope you manage to relax and take it easy.

@MrsM89 I'm having a 3D/4D scan on Sunday, they're only £64 at a highly recommended clinic not too far from
me. It's purely so my nan (90) can see her and experience these scans we all talk about.

Thanks @Xur and @MrsM89 - It's definitely been one of the hardest times of my life that's for certain, I was so sure he'd be an amazing big brother to wee bubba, but sadly it seems it's just not meant to be </3

RE; 4d scans, these are the price ranges at the place I had mine done, I have no clue which option I got though as it was a gift!

EDIT; image is refusing to attach for some reason, so just copy pasting the prices instead;

4D HD Gender Reveal & Wellbeing£75.00
4D Picture This£79.00
4D Movie Star£90.00
4D Superstar HD Live£115.00

@SpicyMoth so sorry about doggy, have they gone somewhere you can visit,
we had to give a pup up when I was a kid and the lady was so good at keeping us updated and we knew she lived the best life ever 💕 just a different chapter xx

@Xur self care day sounds Bliss!! Relax and recuperate as you say, you need to look after yourself 🤍

@MrsM89 i decided against a scan for this reason I couldn’t decide and I was a scan addict in the first trimesters 🙈 i would still love one but started the nursery and furniture order and the budgets blown 😂 by the time I recover ill probs be to far along for decent images!

@WinsandSam i have everything in boxes still.. we have started painting but nothing can go up or in or / organised until decorator comes it’s been dragging …. But we still have plenty of time! Also I delayed all my car seat order until much later as god knows where to store that whilst I wait so as long as the one you want isn’t preorder you’re all good!! Enjoy the break and keep a note in your phone of what to do when you’re back!

my boots haul did come though I’ve launched in the wardrobe until 34 weeks when I pack a bag!
messed up big time on the nipple cream order and got a 10ml … £5 I thought it was a very good deal on a big one 🙈 oooops must read properly

Awh thank you so much @longingtobe23 - thankfully yes, he's gone to my mum and we're sort of doing a swap where we get her two cats as she already had a dog, so it's a MASSIVE favour her taking him on for us - I'm just still so sad and heartbroken about it, It's actually my birthday tomorrow, well... in 15 minutes now, and the thought of having to spend it without him is devastating :/

It's great that we can still see him and visit whenever we want, but it's the little things that you only get to experience when living with him that kill me the most honestly - Like when you wake up in the mornings and he gives you wee morning growls and wiggles his bum, or giving you bedtime kisses after his dentastick because he's thankful and wants to show off his minty breath to you, or doing his signature "croissant" shape and giving you puppy eyes sticking his bum into you for scritches.

Most of all the whole, him not getting to be a big brother to baby is a lot to process. Overtime you see all those videos of dogs and babies being SO sweet together and you yearn for that, but it's just not meant to be I guess - really tragic :/

Only been testing for a day and a bit and my fingers are already pretty bruised. The nurse said to switch between fingers so one doesn’t get too sore, which I’ve been doing - I guess it just sucks making holes in yourself regardless!

PinkWatermelon88 · 28/06/2024 06:39

Hi pals, first time posting. Due #2 in September, my first will be 2y 3m. Life is gonna be BUSY! as I've no childcare so I'll be barebacking it 😅

I'm trying to get as prepped as I can for PP, including meal prep, and hiring a cleaner..!! Am now thinking of my own comfort, I'd love to invest in a tracksuit like White Fox, but I'm hitting 40 not 14 haha. Any recommendations?
Any advice for getting through 2 smallies including a newborn, what made life easier?

Can't believe how quick the time is flying! 😳

malimoon · 28/06/2024 07:52

I have my GTT this morning, wish me luck!

WinsandSam · 28/06/2024 08:13

@mrsbgb okay, that makes me feel a little better 😂 have a lovely holiday!!

@longingtobe23 you're right we do have time. I keep telling myself I have the whole of August off and half of September to sort this shit out 😂 the nursery is due to be decorated end of July so that'll take a weight off. Just want to sort all the clothes out as no idea if I have enough?!?
Good idea on a boots order for hospital. lol at the size of that cream 😂😂

@SpicyMoth that's really devastating for you and I can't imagine how you feel. My dog passed away last year and it was the most painful thing! I know he's still alive but must be so sad for you.

@PinkWatermelon88 👋 gosh, that sounds like you're in for a fun ride! Tracksuit wise I love a Lucy and Yak one. Less down with the kids 😂 but look lovely.

cd24x · 28/06/2024 10:05

@Lillers feel your pain! I collected my kit this morning from my birthing unit (after a bit of confusion yesterday after diabetic midwife called me, turns out my trust do all the info over phone/email rather than in person, so no appt today as the consultant thought!). It's taken me 7 attempts to get my first reading 😭 and then when it finally registered it was over the limit 😭😭😭

At ikea today and have no bloody clue what to eat.

Hey, congratulations! 🥳 💜

My first was 22 months (and not in any form of childcare) when I had my second and I was petrified. It’s a bit of a shock to begin with but you gently fall into the swing of things a bit better. Things I found that helped me, were making my eldest lunches the night before. I’d just whack out his lunchbox from the fridge and give it to him, meaning I didn’t need to leave them both and could just focus on feeding the baby whilst he was eating. I’d also get their clothes out the night before and lay them out on the sofa. I’d also try packing the pram the night before too, just so I had a head start and didn’t need to faff with it too much whilst they were awake. I could literally just load them up and go 😂 basically anything you have the energy to do the night before, just do it. Takes a bit of the stress away 🩷

Feel free to message me if you need an ear or anything. It was a hectic time of my life, but I mean it can’t have been that bad as I’ve signed myself up for a third when my youngest is only 2.5, so, pray for me 🤣 xx

Cat2022 · 28/06/2024 13:45

@PinkWatermelon88 my age gap will be just shy of 19 months and we will have childcare 2 days a week but only until Christmas. I’m both excited and terrified.

I popped into boots this morning before my midwife appointment and bought stuff for my hospital bag after getting overwhelmed online.

I also got my blood results back and good news is I hadn’t caught slapped cheek. Not so good news is my ferritin levels were 6 🙈 so pretty low but I hadn’t been taking my iron so hopefully that will improve.

SantasRubiksCube · 28/06/2024 16:15

Has anyone noticed they can hear their blood rushing around? It's not like a heartbeat sounds but more of a constant whooshing sound and just in one ear, it seems to have appeared in the last week and it's driving me mad especially at night when Im trying to sleep 😴

Ugh well I have been feeling sick all day after the glucose drink. But at least it's done!

PinkWatermelon88 · 28/06/2024 19:12

@WinsandSam I forgot about them!!!!! I love their dungarees! I checked their site and I think I'm prob wrong time of year but I'll def keep an eye out!

@Honeyandsunshine1 OMG thank you so much, handy achievable tips. I love the ideas, I'll def implement! Kudos on going for #3, I'd love it, need to convince himself though haha. Lets get through 2 first!

@Cat2022 I'm with you GF, in both excitement and fear haha! Well done on starting the bag, I'll do mine in a month or so.. can't handle another job right now haha! Xx
